Hi! Vicki from Birmingham (ish) and I like my pancakes plain and simple!
Hi Matt, so glad you could join us. Not sure about the malteser & pancake mix though - I'm a lemon & sugar man ;)
Q1: Flip this view: Twitter is only for celebrity gossip or telling the world what you had for breakfast.

Hi neighbour (ish). Welcome to :)
Hey Stephan, so glad you could join us! :)
where are you?! Love that we are ish neighbours!
A1 I'm going on a course next week I would only ever have known about through twitter. Get to debate formula triangles too
A1 Twitter has just saved my year 2 and 6 teachers hours of work by sharing documents relating to writing exemplification.
omg! I'm in Halesowen so you are super ish close!
a new one for me - malteser spread. Have to try it out.
That's awesome! Totally agree, Twitter can be a great tool for supporting CPD!
intriguingly crunchy. I would recommend it.
encouraged me to enjoy the time I don't spend marking instead of fretting that I'm not using it to mark
A2 Twitter is really fab for checking out what other top teachers are doing. They even take pictures of their displays π

If it's pancakes with malteser spread, ok. Twitter is a social media, meaning the users define its purpose. https://t.co/2Dp1edxaX4

simple yet satisfying! π
that is bloomin brilliant!
Thanks Simon, investing in the European connections from
A1. I say it all the time but Twitter has the best CPD, people, chats...
A2 it's always a good idea to follow people that you can benefit from. Choose people who share good practice and ideas.
What subjects are your teachers working with?
Totally agree! The only CPD you can do in your pyjamas with your favourite tipple ;) https://t.co/WwuMoWYfFH
A1. I say it all the time but Twitter has the best CPD, people, chats...
what's everyone wearing tonight out of interest?
Also sometimes good to follow people who challenge your way of thinking - helps broaden the mind!
Twitter is like the traditional show and tell multiplied by 1.000. https://t.co/ZzRsTszdnJ
A2 Twitter is really fab for checking out what other top teachers are doing. They even take pictures of their displays π
yes definitely! Plenty of that available on Twitter but always done in a constructive manner (I have found).
I didn't know it was that sort of chat π tartan PJs!
You around for some Jenna?
I'm just ππ» I'm in snoopy pjs with tea and Maltesers.
Awesome. We're dispelling some twitter myths :)
usually in PJs by 8pm on work nights
Hey all! Very sorry, just got in from an open night for my course, so all talked out! :P Almost!
we're totally killing it though!
A3 Difficult balance. Friend lost tchr followers and thinks it's bc too much non-work tweeting. But boring if all work and no play?
Funny, I only use it for teacher content but tonight tweeted about my daughter's 6th form interview, not sure why I did?
You'll be pleased to hear we're talking chat-wear at the moment :D General consensus is PJs :)
Think it's good to tweet the odd non-professional comments - proves we're human!
A3 good 2 use Twitter professionally but don't be afraid to show people who YOU are.Balance the two&keep audience in mind
I'm on Twitter to connect with other educators, share ideas/resources, discuss edu. Not all my followers match that π
True, I also think I've posted a picture of my dog! I'm quite nosey so like to know about people, interests etc
Great advice from - Good to show your human side every now and again on Twitter!

promoting life beyond school.
Agree! I do have some interesting followers - being one of them :D
Haha , there is definitely a brand in that!!
Agree! Great example & :)
Q4: Flip this view: Twitter is just a popularity contest, itβs all about how many followers you have. https://t.co/OUsp4mG29g

We actually did that once - Halloween I think it was!
oh man! As if I missed it!
A4 I'm here to listen more than talk, 10x as many following as followers right now. Did I lose? I doubt it.
Haha we got some very interesting pics!!
I can only imagine! Or maybe I don't want to! π±
So glad you could join us Graham - we have missed you! Especially Jenna :D
good point! It's great if we're learning from others. The more we follow, the more we learn? Lists help!
I've had to block a few randoms!
oh gosh, what lovely glasses! π
I usually protect my tweets. Delurked for this chat
Totally agree! Most people, I find, especially on Edu chats are very supportive/friendly
A4 it's all about the quality not the quantity!
Sorry I am late, connecting with friends from on and Tips ;)
you soon develop a core group you connect with regularly
this one is my favourite. I often watch but don't join in others.
I'm still at the number of followers where I noticed new follows and unfollowers.
Totally agree! It's not about the number of followers but the invaluable engagement with like minded people!
And catch up with around the country!
soz for stealing your line sista!
That's a good look for you Stephan :)
What's on the menu <===> questions, please show me, thanks ;)
Like minded, yes, but also those who challenge my thinking.
Q5: Flip this view: There is too much information on Twitter to make it worth my time and energy.
https://t.co/z1PKZ2C9uv
I love that the general consensus is quality. Keep it small and valuable!
it's definitely worthwhile, especially when you follow a lot of people.
Agree, I'd be lost without my lists!
Hi Angels. So glad you could join us!
A4: TBH it amazes me the amount of people that listen to my ramblings and look at my tweets
Use lists, dip in and out, don't expect to read everything.
Hi Γngels :) Hi Simon :) Hi Ines :) Hi Graham :)
A5: What's great is trawling through my Twitter timeline and finding little gems and nuggets of information
this is where your lists come in handy, and hashtags for specific threads.
Hi Gust. Better late than never, I always say - probably becasue I'm always late myself :)
A5 use lists, like things to recall them later or take screenshots/save photos. Pop on and off when you need it.
you have become a very value resource on Twitter, Mr G Unit
Maybe your ramblings make sense to them.
Totally agree! So glad you could join us Kerry. You missed the PJ poll :D
A5: Also love that I can ask my Twitter PLN a question and get far better resources than Google could ever give me
you make me sound ancient π
A5. I agree with others, use lists, look at people who you know post valuable tweets,
just being old fashioned, like courting and holding hands ;-)
I miss those days. Only problem with following lots of people is keeping track of your Twitter timeline!
Hey Sarah, so glad you could join us!

Cheers Simon, appreciated ;)
A6 I do struggle but it's teaching me brevity
A picture speaks a thousand words, as does a hyperlink to a blog etc, a quote retweet... Not just about 140 characters
Agree, especially when you keep track of them using tools such as TweetDeck or HootSuite!
A6 you can use images, links, emojis and imagination to say what you need to say in 140 characters!
A6. You can share link video website. ....everything you need only hastatg and the connections. https://t.co/k0rTiss758
Hi Vicki :) Thanks for the RT!
your shed is amazing! Don't be surprised!
Great advice from >> 140 chars not enough - use an image: Image speaks a thousand words! https://t.co/FLa01h8Bgb
A picture speaks a thousand words, as does a hyperlink to a blog etc, a quote retweet... Not just about 140 characters
Plenty of great things can be shared in 140 characters. Look at the success of educhats. Pics or links to blogs can always tell more
I haven't mastered the lists thing yet. Tweet deck was mind boggling but now couldn't do without it.
I have no idea what tweet deck is?!
Thanks for RT and the β€
Q6: amazes me the content in only 140 I've learnt learnt to truncate. Picture tagging helps too
I'm going to have to suss that bad boy out after then! Thanks
A2) YOU DON'T need to follow anyone WHO is following YOU, make YOUR choice WHICH ONE fits into YOUR & ;)
