A1: I ->relentlessly<- & continuously tell my Ss that they are both capable & worthy of success, despite their preconceived notions about their abilities. I repeat it until they start to believe it. Then I celebrate small successes along the road to achievement. #pln365
A1: By inspiring students to reflect and search deeply for those skills and abilities that they've yet to fully discover and/or develop. Everyone has the ability to be a star in their role. #pln365
Hey #pln365! I made it! Merissa from TX jumping in.
I always encourage Ss to believe in themselves & their work. I also model this by showing them that I believe in them by praising their work AND effort. Your thoughts determine your reality so a positive outlook is an advantage.
"Great effort!"
"I believe in you."
"I like how you..."
"I notice that _________ is showing grit by not giving up on this hard problem."
"I have a connection with __________!"
"I love your enthusiasm!"
"These shoulder partners are really focused on their learning."

A3 Remind them of the things for which they should be grateful. This brings awareness to more things for which they should be thankful. This helps #Rewire the brain. #pln365
Remind them of their successes. Sometimes a long uphill battle leaves Ss rattled. Show them their progress. I had a 3rd grader last year who started with a 29% on her multiplication facts. She worked on it every week and improved so by the end of the year she had a 95%!

A3: Offering a listening ear and being fully engaged as an active listener. Sometimes, taking a silent gratitude walk with a colleague can help. Getting out of our classroom or office is necessary when our faith gets shaky at times. There are so many reasons to smile. #pln365
A3: It's all about fostering positive relationships. Be there to support then, listen to them and encourage them. Be the leader that they are looking for. People lose faith because they are not challenged or celebrated. Do both. #pln365
This is my twitter bio:
I believe in building strong relationships with students & fostering a climate of #encouragement & #engagement.
It is definitely my personal philosophy for teaching and I strive to create this everyday with every student I encounter.

A2: In my class, we emphasize “put ups”. When one S says something negative about themselves or another S, they must give “2 put ups” (compliments) to change the language they originally used into something positive. At first they hate it, then they end up encouraging it. #pln365
A4: I love this quote by @casas_jimmy that defines my philosophy on education: We have a responsibility to always do what is best for students.....every day....whatever it takes. #pln365
A3: My goal is to be the positive light that someone else may be in search of. For someone in a rut, it’s always nice to give them something to smile about, think about or believe in. #pln365
A4: Rapport, relevance and student empowerment are key ingredients in education. When brought into practice, student achievement is inevitable. #pln365
