-
We have an official playlist now?? Amazing!
-
Hey all. I'm Pat from Spirit of the Wood. My favorite energizer is Coke(a-Cola). Hmmm, precious coke...
-
tries to use Q1, Q2, Q3 .... A1, A2, A3 format but really we just want you to join in the discussion! https://t.co/CQOcwQR0TU
-
-
This is going to make participating in all the much more better!
-
I guess I need to get on the gif bandwagon! Can’t have be the only one with gifs!
-
We have a full hour of great discussion scheduled for tonight! Q1 is right around the corner!
-
Took me at least 5 minutes to find the jif I was looking for, wouldn't worry too much about it.
-
yes, we have a playlist on Spotify! I seem to have misplaced the link…. anyone?
-

-
Hi ! Amy - Grade 2/3, in Regina, and nothing beats a walk around the park to energize...
-
Hi all. Marcy here in windy HS ELA/Psych teacher Curious to learn advice for avoiding !
-
Hello all, Ellen from Regina. French K and Arts Ed/Core French Specialist. Energizer = green tea, Book = Harry Potter
-
Jade from Outlook, Sask. Joining in for a few minutes tonight. Fav energizer - a new idea!
-
Melissa... teaching in Green Lake. Favourite Book = Harry Potter, Favourite Energizer = 21
-
Hey Amy! How's the arm doing?
-
I teach Adult Upgrading in Onion Lake. I can't pick a favourite book. There are so many amazing books.
-
Hey hey! Thanks for those resources last week!
-
-
It's with the recovering happening! :) Mine's good - er, knock on wood!
-
-
Ah, the energizer that is relaxing with a good book!
-
A1 I like a bit of routine. Quiet time to get prepared for the day in the AM with sunlight through the window. Dog park in PM
-
-
Ah! Well here's hoping nothings wrong with your arm. Break a leg. ... err...
-
I'm a gr 2 T from Wadena. Last yr around this time was my 1st with the same subject
-
A1: I love planning activities with colleagues. You can amp each other up (or be in it together at least)
-
Brooke, preservice T from
-
Co-teaching can be the reason to wake up in the morning sometimes.
-
caffeine is caffeine, especially in May and June!
-
Happy -iversary, Lanny! :)
-
Fellow UofRerer... Welcome!
-
-
Hey friends . It's a nice distraction to join you tonight 😕
-
Such a good time of year to be doing that
-
True. I prefer mine with an exceptionally unhealthy side of suger, thus the coke!
-
A1. Avoiding counting down the days at all costs, I like to think of it as still being February...
-
So true. I find our co-planned activities get more and more crazy (I mean fun) the closer we get to June 30.
-
A1 I also find there are so few days left, when you take out the trips, grad, awards day etc. Have to make each day count for lots
-
Long walks at night were what got me through University and my first year of teaching!
-
A1. I find that I get more energy near the end, my low point is mid year. something about the weather
-
It's such a good time to collaborate, try new things, think outside the box which increases S engagement
-
Think we could find a song called "It's Eight O-Clock Somewhere" to adequately reflect ?
-
-
A1. It's usually easy to stay focussed too many things to do
-
Good strategy! I can't help it with some of the specialist classes when you only see them twice a week
-
I always think of learning as circular (it never ends) even though the school year (linear perspective) will
-
And a first for me walking the dog while doing
-
You mean where you work work work and then all of a sudden it's summer with nothing to do?
-
A1: Prioritizing my to do list keeps me focused. Taking time to be outside, play my guitar, be with family helps me find balance
-
you are the man! Welcome to !
-
Joining, late again.... Curtis Bourassa, recent UofR grad, from Weyburn.
-
a2. trying to rush too much stuff at the same time. end of the year always seems to be crunch time
-
Understandable, not thinking of the year as ending helps to remain focused on the Ss and not the end date.
-
A1 - caffeine for the win - followed by early morning upbeat music
-
Hey friends will try and jump in later. Just finishing our art show.
-
music makes everything better
-
votes in, you’re nominated! is looking forward to your creation!
-
Understandable. Although sometimes it is difficult not to go "just 14 more days..."
-
-
A2 Students start understanding the crunch 2/ starts getting tense/ dealing with stress the wrong way. Have to keep it +
-
Get ready for my "sound of tortured cat" singing ability coming to a near you!
-
Hi I am from Fort McMurray .. 😥 (ps don't forget to use the # so everyone sees your posts)
-
Its true. I was thinking of it as "guys, we have only ten classes left and we're not done our projects! Aaaaa!"
-
yeah something like that. Lol
-
Especially the family, at some points of the year we forget to engage with those we love.
-
-
I enjoy how you can clearly see even he regrets his actions immediately in this gif...
-
A2 - I find that “paperwork” can suck the energy out of things - so I need to take time to “step away”
-
Understandable. But I think any course is too large when it comes down to it. We need to scale to Ss.
-
A2. For a lot of us at FN schools it's waiting to see whether we have a contact for the upcoming year
-
Definitely. I'm working on drama with a 7/8 class. I see the year ending before they are happy with their plays
-
Q3. What are some end-of-the-year activities that help to keep Ss & Ts energized & focused? https://t.co/DBvudFIBGX
-
A2: Setting aside time to do some fun things helps me from finding everything too "energy zapping"
-
Don't you just love drama? Especially when we get to play all those improv games?!?!
-
-
Alas, I searched it up and all I got was 5 oclock... which is the current time in very few inhabited places right now
-
-
A2 You think you've thought of everything and get blindsided by somerhing trivial that requires att
-
Or anywhere this year, thanks to the late budget
-
It makes a huge change in the work ethic eh! Helps you to focus in on what is important.
-
-
Agree ! Balance is so important all through the year but can be especially important now!
-
That is true. Fortunately I think more people are more safe than not.
-
-
A3: I used to do a community math walk at the end of the year. Real life math problems solved in downtown Outlook! By the bakery
-
-
Being intentional about setting time aside is something I've had to learn to do. Went from working 95 hrs to 55 hrs
-
A3 - It's a good time to get that community garden started
-
a3. increase brain breaks, its nice out so outside learning
-
A3 Work hard in these weeks to come. Then the last two or three are usually easier
-
A3 - we sometimes forget we are NOT Superheroes - but people who need to take care of ourselves so we can be our best
-
I think the bakery has been replaced by the D&E
-
A3. Get them outside, it's beautiful out there. There are always land based learning methods that can be done.
-
A3 Do things outside! Read, write or do math. My Ss have always enjoyed this and seemed even more focused on their work
-
A3: Cool projects, hands on. We made pizza today in French Kinder, in honour of "Je suis une pizza!" https://t.co/rMJcwMGQLO
-
Jinx, you owe me a coke... hmmm, precious coke...
-
I loved doing out door Ed during the final push
-
Especially in Sask with our winters. If we have good weather it's time to take advantage of it
-
When we visited the D&E, there was math and science involved
-
Agreed, how many times can you say we had +31 in the first week of May?!
-
absolutely! Fun and physical activity aid in learning and natural surroundings can help Ss focus!
-
Have you read 168 Hours? Changed the way I look at how I use my time! is doing a book club on it!
-
Q4. What are your "go to" strategies that keep you focused and/or resilient right to the last day? https://t.co/Q1lYIbThbm
-
Hey, if is nervous about her contract she can always be the last Saskatchewan pirate!
-
will look at that one. My game changer was Die Empty by Todd Henry.
-
a4. to do lists and end goals. especially the last few days/weeks. knowing what needs to be done, and how to accomplish it helps
-
Another one to add to the kindle library!
-
Truth - I'm sure we could get a whole crew to join her ship too... aka, I want to be a pirate too
-
Great book! Made me depressed when I realized how much time I should have!
-
-
A4 At this point in the school yr I'm backing off & they're taking more lead. I've modeled. We've done together. Now 4 them 2 do
-
A3. We do a weekly social activity at noon on Weds. Reminds Ss that we are there 4 each other. I teach adults ABE.
-
A4 I don't think about the school year being done until a hockey team has lifted the Stanley Cup
-
Hah, maybe I should avoid it for now if it is a depressing read.
-
Identifying what is a priority in your life and balancing your 168 hours with priorities at the forefront
-
I've become much better at using time, for sure. But I can still waste time like a pro ;)
-
🎶Cause it's a heave-ho, high-ho, coming down the Plains 🎶
-
Hmm, I was not aware of this. I miss the library since I've left the city!
-
-
and how much time we waste on areas of little value
-
can’t we all? I mean, procrastination is really an art form for some of us
-
Why just call me Salty Bob!
-
A4 My to do list is essential for keeping me focused. It keeps my brain working toward my goals.
-
call it rejuvenating time allotment
-
If I recall all Sask Libraries are now linked. Technically you can take out any resource from any library
-
A4. Create lists and start checking things off. This is an easy time of year to become distracted by other factors.
-
I spent 15 minutes with my guitar tonight while making supper ...
-
-
Now to get my new library card, hopefully they don't recall the 4 books I didn't return years ago
-
our team is trying to eat frogs first. Doing those dreaded tasks first
-
I allocate a few minutes each day so I can freely have a breakdown - no guilt
-
Multi-tasking or new culinary art? :)
-
That sounds like it would take talent! Making supper while jamming out!
-
-
I'm pretty sure that's my drive home, when I can say anything I want outloud
-
-
sometimes we need to do those “lift-me-up” tasks before eating the frog
-
I think that was your idea I stole from an Action Research workshop
-
I am not good at either, so practice is important if I am ever to call that art! lol!
-
A5. Helping them move past complaining into action designed to resolve what's causing their angst! Be supportive.
-
I just told you what I had done and you ran with it!
-
-
A5.2 Change conversations from victim minded conversations into victor minded conversations. "Solution based whining"
-
A5 We are going to have a school carnival in June. Have a little fun and then get to the finish line.
-
drive home is my transition time too but sometime I sing really loud to oldies
-
Good idea. I need someone to help me move past the complaining.
-
A5 If you see them stressed, help the, talk to them, crack a joke. Makes a big difference!
-
true, true a balanced diet of tasks is important
-
I sing outloud too, sometimes the radio cuts out and I realize how badly I sing too...
-
A5 - as an admin - I would try to take a class for each teacher during the week beginning in May - just to give them some time
-
A5 Collaborate, just did a with my gr 2s for the first time, shared it with a colleague and she's excited to try it
-
Being a jokster and having a big smile has gotten me out of many a difficult situation.
-
a5. focus on the positives. remind others of the positives for different situations
-
So true. Being there for each other makes all the difference!
-
A5 - - Celebrate the wins. Focus on the progress. Tell them how important they are - Care for them.
-
I identified it as a weakness in myself years ago. Now I no longer "vent" I look for solutions. It was difficult.
-
-
A5 - I also find chocolate, coffee & little treats can really brighten someone’s day! A nice note helps too!
-
We should always keep in mind how good we have it here (even though it's not perfect). Look around the world
-
A5 Focus on the goodies - then find little ways to brighten those more difficult moments
-
Absolutely. It's a learnt skill how to shift from anger and victimhood into a victory mindset.
-
Drop by our school anytime. We're always up for prep. :.)
-
Just make your own, I mean it can't be that difficult can it!
-
-
Yea, I met you once and am still adjusting ;-)
-
so important - keep on making positive connections - build success and strengths!
-
Q5 taking time to give some words of encouragement
-
-
Very true! I'm super lucky to work with an amazing team!
-
I always like a good game of spontaneous hallway dodgeball -
-
Ive met him more than once and am still adjusting! Lol
-
-
Cut out the ruminating, such a difficult skill to learn!
-
oh that - that was nothing! I was on my best behaviour - it was public!
-
I figured, was pretty crazy, I was expecting you to be at least 50% of him.
-
Ominous, but spirited and a future artist? Maybe? would appreciate this SO much!
-
A6. Ruminating, lacking a desire to do anything productive. Focusing on the failures and not on the bountiful successes.
-
A5 When you complain about things in May/June that would have been funny in September
-
I fixed your placelist, added the right artist for the last saskatchewan pirate.
-
As I said at the start - we sometimes try to follow the Q1, Q2, Q3 … A1, A2, A3 format but, yeah, it’s like my classroom
-
Listening is so important. Thanks for your ear, my friend! https://t.co/2RI0beTKhz
-
-
By listening when someone needs to talk sashed hat
-
Yes! It's amazing at how a little bit of stress can dramatically change the interpretation of a statement.
-
I cam't imagine you going off topic! Lol 😜
-
A6: changes in character, lack of involvement in school/staff functions
-
Ah, so that "presentation in Regina" was just an excuse after being kicked out!
-
And what people will be concerned about!
-
-
-
has a contagious, laugh! And usually when is laughing, it's trouble ... https://t.co/vgJDMpRKwn
-
-
can't beat a good shared laugh to encourage
-
And that is when we need to be outside ourselves and show some caring thought. Inquire and give a lending hand.
-
Hands up! Oh, good response, I don't care that it was blurted! Awesome!
-
I can speak for myself that in times of high stress I do avoid people, because I know I take things more personally.
-
Thanks! You saved me from a possible worm rebellion in my vermicompost
-
A7 My wicked sense of humour takes care of that!
-
I always thought that was year round??? Lol
-
A6 - - when people begin to avoid others & don’t really engage when in discussions. It’s time to see what’s up.
-
A7 Simple start the day with a smile, maybe it sounds corny but it gets things going in the right direction
-
A7: laugh everyday with staff and students - keep perspective of the big picture and try not to sweat the small stuff
-
I've learnt to slow down responses, but yet I still take things personally. Just don't show it
-
A7 Sometimes "having a bit more fun" means just letting the little things go w ss. The relationships are more important
-
I have to sneak out a little early :( great convo tonight!
-
A7 - Mini dance party. You can't not smile when attempting to salsa while drinking coffee
-
. one of the most important things - smile, greet people with enthusiasm, thank them - little gestures, big impact
-
A7 Have a laugh, two or ten. Make others laugh even at your own expense
-
Agreed! I respect people who are empathetic and look outside themselves to see how others are doing!
-
Q7: Finding time to just talk to one of my Kinders always brightens my day (and usually gives me a staff room story!)
-
A7 For some reason most of my math classes recently have included sound effects that come along with graphing functions
-
Psst, you're not supposed to tell us ;-) Thanks for participating!
-
. there are key times of the year when stress is high - need to be aware of these and check to see how ppl are doing
-
A7 I really believe in power of laughter. 😄
-
Was it not said that engaging Ss begins at the door with a greeting? Why not Ts as well?
-
Their perspective is something adults usually need. Often we're too serious.
-
Don't take things personally unless the statement includes the word "you"
-
Absolutely. It takes a while before it becomes natural to see how people are doing w/o reminding yourself to do it.
-
-
-
-
-
You would say that wouldn't you! ;-)
-
A7. Today we had some rough personal issues w Ss and 1 S said. I can always try 2 make them laugh.
-
A7: One of my goals is to laugh daily. Another is to find gratitude at the end of each day.
-
-
A7. I make sure that the first thing I say to everyone has some form of humor or joy in it. Avoid the negative tones.
-
sometimes I don’t even take them personally even with “you”. Sometimes it’s better not to!
-
I wouldn't think this would have to be a Goal for you, but rather just your approach to all things!
-
-
Hmmmmm...borrowing some ideas from George Costanza I see! 😜
-
I've never found belly laughing to work well for me. If it's not genuine it's not helpful to me for some reason.
-
Agreed. The mind flip from "you" to "ewe" can also be entertaining
-
-
What do you have against my sheep?!? How dare you!!!
-
-
-
I seriously have to wonder how long you've had that one waiting...
-
we too had horrible news re:sts family today - unfortunately these are the things that put it all in perspective
-
Hope everyone has another great week! Take care
-
Now I'm going to have to find that Jimmy Fallon character, Sara! !
