Q1: Creative mediums such as music, drawing, filmmaking, and photography allow students to creatively express themselves. Why is it important to integrate these into every subject? #AppleEDUchat
A1) Watch Ss access what they know differently from the Ss sitting next to them. Also, the more Ss are able to practice creativity the more empowered they will become. #AppleEduChat
A:1 To allow all students with different talents and skills to express themselves in ways that make sense to them. Students have powerful things to say and as educators we need to give them opportunities to develop their talents. #AppleEDUchat
A1: There are a variety of ways to asses or students. When we allow them to express there understanding creatively, student can really show us that they “get it.” #AppleEDUChat
A1: Student voice and self expression allows for a deeper learning experience. However, I see these activities being compartmentalized into computer classes or STEM classes, and not in regular ed classes. #AppleEDUchat
A1: there are artistic opportunities within all subject areas, ways for students to personalize their experience and give it more meaning. #AppleEduChat
A1: When working creatively, students can build their own connections with concepts. It also presents opportunities for collaboration and addressing larger audiences. #AppleEDUchat
A1. All of these creative methods develop stronger learning connections and allow students to be more creative. It allows them to show what they learn in ways other than tests! #appleeduchat
A1. Personalized learning/assessment. When Ss can do things their way, they strive to be great because they own it. They take the assignment very seriously. #AppleEduChat
Q1: Creative mediums such as music, drawing, filmmaking, and photography allow students to creatively express themselves. Why is it important to integrate these into every subject? #AppleEDUchat
Q1: Creative mediums such as music, drawing, filmmaking, and photography allow students to creatively express themselves. Why is it important to integrate these into every subject? #AppleEDUchat
A1: Allowing students to express themselves gives you instant buy in. Kids LOVE being creative and many think of these mediums as fun and exciting, especially when compared to traditional pencil/paper writing. So excited about the new drawing features in the apps! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Choice is so important! Each student has strengths in different areas and allowing choice allows them to find their voice in the medium that speaks to them! #appleeduchat
A1 in an inquiry based approach model, creativity is one way for students to express their thinking in a multitude of ways and forms. Their expression is only limited by their ability to create artwork. #AppleEDUchat
A1: A lot of evidence coming from @LEGOfoundation that play and immersion in playful behaviors and a play-based state of creation is a catalyst for deeper learning. #play#AppleEDUchat#LEGOIdea2018
A1: Choice is so important! Each student has strengths in different areas and allowing choice allows them to find their voice in the medium that speaks to them! Doing this in EVERY subject builds confidence and abilities! :) #appleeduchat
A1: I’ve never seen a student get excited to write an essay or take an exam. If you want to see REAL engagement, let students express their learning through the process of creation. #AppleEDUChat#EveryoneCanCreate
A1: AND think about what we do as Profs and Ts. When we need to get inspiration, we turn to other areas of interest: tech, music, getting outside, mechanical. Same value for Ss. Let them engage the other half of their 🧠#appleEDUchat
A1 because all subjects needs a creativity aspect. It makes the lesson or the subject livelier and not to technical. It makes difficult concepts easier to grasp, apply and understand. #AppleEDUchat
A1: Creative mediums such as these allow students to really dive into showing what they know. It allows students to design, take risks, experiment, and have fun. It's the way every student should have the opportunity to learn. #AppleEDUchat
A1 Giving students a chance to use their own choice and voice to ‘Show What They Know’ opens up a plethora of creative options that my student crave! #AppleEDUChat@WildcatsWES#wesipadlab
A1 It gives a chance for those who excel at the arts to truly shine and be themselves. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and we’ll never see some of those strengths if we keep recycling the same old assignment formats. #AppleEDUchat
So true! Asked my group to create a 1-2 minute #ClassroomClips reflecting on our time together. One Ss “accidentally” made a 7 minute Clip. His work was too important to edit out!! #AppleEduChat
A1 When we give students opportunities to creatively engage in the learning process Ss can make deeper connections, explore passions, and find express themselves! #appleeduchat
Agreed! And often these areas are seen as "secondary" to core classes. Incorporating them shows students that there is value in the arts as well! :) #AppleEDUchat
A1: any time we allow kids to take control of their own learning and demonstrate that in ways we may not have envisioned...we have a WIN! #AppleEDUchat
YES! Couldn't agree more! I always thought about this when I was in college....if creating is at the top, why are the arts often at the bottom of our systematic educational focus? #AppleEDUchat
A1: @DrHowardGardner’s multiple intelligence theory says we are intelligent in different ways - integrating these mediums allows for Ss to explore different intelligences, and understanding how they can use them to communicate. #AppleEDUchat
Q1: Creative mediums such as music, drawing, filmmaking, and photography allow students to creatively express themselves. Why is it important to integrate these into every subject? #AppleEDUchat
A1: Creative mediums such as these allow students to really dive into showing what they know. It allows students to design, take risks, experiment, and have fun. It's the way every student should have the opportunity to learn. #AppleEDUchat
A2: I teach art, so it is already there, but a new/different way I'm using it is through sketchnotes! Working to give kids an understanding of how to use art in every subject! :) #AppleEDUchat
A2: diagramming, charts, brainstorming visualizations-also for my students who struggle with literacy-drawing their understanding is part of differentiation #AppleEDUchat
A2 sketch noting! I love how our notebooks were redesigned to have one part devoted to drawing or sketch noting and the other half for notes itself. #AppleEDUchat
A1 When I think about integrating creativity into core content, I think of my friend @WickedDecent - to him it's like Frank's Red Hot Sauce. #AppleEDUchat
A2. My engineering and app dev students start their designs with drawings. No code, no software, no building (yet!). Get the idea out of their head and on paper so they can have conversations. #appleeduchat
A2: As an art teacher, drawing is already integral in my classroom, but I also work with teachers to bring drawing into their rooms as well! Whether that is in historical portraits, plant diagrams, learning landscapes, or something completely different! :) #AppleEDUchat
A2. Does drawing diagrams and models, graphs, and conclusions work? I teach science and this is most of the drawing we do. Once in a while they draw what’s at the end of a microscope. In the current #PBL unit, Ss are drawing components of stories and games. #AppleEDUchat
A2 when I have students reflect on learning I tell them to draw a symbol or icon that best represents their understanding of the day’s lesson. #AppleEDUchat
A2 My Ss are composing their essays on Catcher in the Rye using Pages book templates and drawing their observations on Holden’s character development #AppleEDuchat
This summer, @tbc4k will be offering a course for kids on Video, Music, Photography, and Drawing - inspired by Apple’s newly-released #EveryoneCanCreate curriculum! #AppleEDUchat

A2: rather than have student write a response to a prompt or an outline to an essay, have them draw it. Visually possible to show cause and effect relationships, for example. #appleEDUchat
A2 I'm pushing effective study/learning strategies... first up: Dual Coding & I'm using sketchnoting as the vehicle (in all subject areas and all levels). #AppleEDUchat
Q2: I like to model thinking through drawing with my kids. Huge fan of iPad Pro with Apple Pencil. Sketchnoting in front of kids is daunting but helps them to develop that visual skill too. #AppleEDUchat
I just finished working with students to illustrate a portrait of the person who inspired their favorite quote. They drew the photo, wrote the quote, and imported into Clips. Drawing brought their project new life. https://t.co/GqZxP8ucrG#AppleEDUchat
Maybe look at sketchnotes! They're good for kids' brains/memory and a fun way to incorporate art in your room! :) It's a win-win....they enjoy it and it helps learning! So fun they will forget they're learning from it! :) #AppleEDUchat
A2 : we concept sketch everything! Planning documents, models, web layouts, you name it. We don’t use lined notebooks for class notes either - need the freedom! #AppleEDUchat
A2: Allowing drawings and sketches again created ownership. When you don’t have to steal from the Googs you have a sense of accomplishment and pride! #AppleEDUchat#MagicMoveChallenge
A2: I recently taught students about sketch notes as a learning tool. We practiced with a couple Ted talks. Now a few use the method on a regular basis. #AppleEduChathttps://t.co/uiWrf5lZBx
A2: Students in my anatomy classes would draw different Hominid skulls to help them make better observations and compare and contrast the skull shapes. #AppleEDUchat
A2) 10 minute drawing challenge first thing each morning. In our 6 weeks together they let go of negative personal critiques! At 1st they ask for only 1 minute by the end they will go back to their drawing when they have free time. #AppleEDUchat
A2 Sketchnoting-Great for learners of all ages. Allows them to make meaning! Here is an example of a 4th grade S sketching their knowledge using the Notes app. #appleeduchat
A2 I recently presented at a conference where we showed faculty how to integrate SketchParty TV into their classroom for formative assessment - it’s a great game! https://t.co/x5PWhEaglA#AppleEDUchat
I love to use TED talks as practice for sketchnoting! Lately, I've used Todd Rose's talk The Myth of Average in my PL because the message impacts a wide range of educators. #AppleEDUchat
A2 Allow s's to Sketchnote as they intake info and to express their what they learned. Introduce some basic drawing features from Drawing Ch in the #EveryoneCanCreate Curr #AppleEduChat
A2-My students especially my younger students love drawing! So I let them draw about their learning and then add captions or recordings for added understanding! #AwinForEveryone#AppleEDUChat
A2 Ss are writing memoirs and illustrating important aspects of their upbringing. They used Keynote draw and playback feature How Maine is this? #AppleEDUchat
A3: for videos, speeches and presentations kids used to have to find music to play in the background - now they have to make it! #garageband#AppleEDUchat
A1: However, it’s very important that students have a deep knowledge or awareness of digital citizenship which also includes copyright, security, and privacy before producing any content using such tools. #AppleEDUchat
Hi all. Corrie here from Geelong, Vic, Aus. A1. Inclusivity. Creative outlets are so important for students to be able to express what they know and show how they can use what they know. #AppleEDUchat
A3: I had a student create an original song about steps muscle contraction. He wrote the music, lyrics and then recording the song for the class! #AppleEDUchat
We love Visual Vocabulary in my class! Illustrating meanings of our new vocab brings a different/fun dimension to share w/each other.I can assess & literally see how my kids think of a word's meaning! Would like to begin doing this on Keynote! #northstarrocks#AppleEduChat#tlap
A3: Music sparks memory. I love having students take a song and re-write the lyrics so that they coincide with subjects they are learning! You'd see students tapping their feet and reciting the song when they take their exams! It's awesome! Our minds crave music! #AppleEDUchat
A3 Use live loops in GarageBand to create background music to a poem, story, or to depict a setting/theme in a story. Don't need musical background but those w it can go even further #AppleEDUchat
A3: In the past, I've helped a Texas History educator I know with having his learners write their own lyrics to some old Texas songs from the perspective of different famous figures. They mixed their music together in GarageBand. #AppleEDUchat
A3: When we were in Chicago we did a super cool activity with Garageband using the new audio clips with the space theme! It was so fun and sparked my curiosity with it....interested in having kids make their own scores to go with their stop motions/video projects! #AppleEDUchat
A1: However, it’s very important that students have a deep knowledge or awareness of digital citizenship which also includes copyright, security, and privacy before producing any content using such tools. #AppleEDUchat
A2. I love to have kids, particularly in lower levels, take notes and record thoughts ion picture rather than in writing. You can often see a lot more in what they draw as opposed to what they write. #AppleEDUchat
A3 I’ve worked with Nursing faculty who make up songs and mnemonics to help their students remember the various steps of medical examinations and procedures. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Using a site like @Flocabulary brings amazing, unmatched rap together with content that is equally amazing. After listening to their stuff, kids can use GarageBand to make their own beats and write their own rhymes! #FlocabChat#AppleEDUchat
A3: My favorite way to use music in language arts was to ask Ss to compose music in GarageBand that showed their understanding of tone, and then explain why. #appleeduchat
A3 After working on thesis statements, Ss recorded themselves reading their final statements then used live loops to enhance their message. We dropped the files into Pages books with their intro paragraph writing and illustrations #AppleEDUchat
A3: I also had Ss compose music that would be a soundtrack to a narrative or story they wrote. W music (and images too) the essay transforms into a digital story. #AppleEduChat
A3: It’s great with poetry units, but we’ve also created current event raps similar to @Flocabulary. I’ve also created content songs and will bring a guitar or keyboard to use with students. Students podcast to each other also #AppleEDUchat
A3) Young adults create music for their videos. Steep learning curve they feel - in no time they are making great music in GarageBand. They work to create music to compliment video quickly. No need to worry about ownership of the song either! #AppleEduChat
A3. Years ago several Ss made “Behind the Music” episodes for a fictional band that sang science songs. Wrote lyrics to established songs. Still sing their song abt neurons to Soul man. Music accessed many parts of the brain. Better for learning. #AppleEDUchat
A3. Rather than adding commercial music, or searching for CC licensed material, have student create their own via live loops in @GaragebandiOS. Great having them match music to their projects. Also having them create a sequence for a book trailer, etc... #AppleEDUchat
A3: my students create soundtracks to their animations they create using Keynote. I love the creative sound effects they include and mood 🎵#AppleEDUchat
A3 Having students create their own music to represent the theme or events in a story. Great discussions on the power of music in a video-adds a whole new layer. #appleeduchat
indeed, teachers shouldn’t just use social media outright, kids/students should also be taught how to read and understand the terms of services, privacy policies, etc. teachers can possibly refer to @CommonSenseEd for evaluation of apps. #AppleEDUchat
I remember doing something like this in middle school when learning bones! We changed "I Want It That Way" to "My Clavicle Hurts When I Turn This Way" and it was hilarious....
ahhhh, the early 2000s :)
#AppleEDUchat
A3: When GarageBand came into my life, it gave my classroom the tools we would have never had. Suddenly, we became a rock band with everything we needed! So many possibilities and now everyone could be a musician and bring learning to life through music. #AppleEDUchat
@Flocabulary has a creation area that helps create rhymes based on previous lines and vocabulary words. They have built-in beats, but we’ve made our own in GarageBand #AppleEDUchat

There's a very similar lesson in the #EveryoneCanCreate Teacher Guide xhttps://itunes.apple.com/us/book/video-music-photography-drawing/id1357353934?mt=11 #AppleEduChat
A3: Last year my class concluded their study of greek mythology by making an iMovie using classic pop songs in a dream sequence with commercials: Poseidon selling fish food, a goddess pep talk for Medusa to Bruno Mars Just the Way You Are...it was hilarious!
#AppleEduChat
A3 We are creating projects right now and today I reminded a group of 5th grade boys that they could create their own #GarageBand soundtrack for their background music! Their faces lit up, high five’s were exchanged & they went to work immediately on a new project! #AppleEDUchat
A3: students write their own mission statements, then have to analyze and select the best loops of music to add to their mission... then they publish! #AppleEduChat
A4: Students in my class use the iPhone camera to take microscope photos and share them with each other to identify cells in different stages in mitosis #AppleEDUchat
A4. Student taking their own images for projects means a greater sense of ownership of the project. In fact, I started 'disallowing' the old google image search from my classroom! #AppleEDUchat
A4: In art, photography is a given, but I love teaching kids HOW to take great pictures! It is fun to show them all the features of the camera, and help them to think consciously about composition! #AppleEDUchat
A4 since my school doesn’t have a lot of microscopes, I use photos to show microscopes samples. For students who have difficulty in seeing photos on the iPad are perfect because they can zoom in and see it #AppleEDUchat
A4 We’re studying Matt Black’s Mapping of Poverty photography project. My Ss are exploring poverty in our county - composing their own images to express what they see and experience #AppleEDUchat
A4: We’ve had photography units where selfies led to digital self-portrait painting which led to personal narratives and a #MinecraftEDU exploration of our personal strengths/weaknesses #AppleEDUchat
A4: one of my favorite engineering challenges allows students to us photography to find real world solutions to erosion. Best way to get kids to use devices, find science around them, apply in modeling. #streamtablechallenge#AppleEDUChat
A4: the camera is the most underrated tool on our devices. “Hey kids! You just learned about________. Go find an example of it!” #CrossCurricularIdeas Also good for writing prompts. Find cool pics and use for writing starters. #AppleEDUchat
A4.#2 Also, having stds collect ongoing, relevant & purposeful evidence of learning throughout the year is GREAT! Whether it be via @Seesaw , etc... What's also just as important is having others seeing the photos that are taken & not being stuck in the camera roll! #AppleEDUchat
A4: Students in my class use the iPhone camera to take microscope photos and share them with each other to identify cells in different stages in mitosis #AppleEDUchat
A4: I love showing students how to compose a better photo by turning on the grid in the Camera app. Teaching student the rule of thirds is pretty powerful. Taking better photos is always a good thing! Shout out to a great teacher who taught me this, @dgoble2001#AppleEDUchat
A4 I think this is the easiest esp w mobility of iPad! Teach a few photo tips and have s's document field trips, science experiments, use to assess math concepts like geometric shapes, record skits, etc, etc etc! + Explore Slow Mo & Time Lapse! #AppleEDUchat
#AppleEDUchat - the video on the camera is great for this too! Even taking slow-mo video of science (think physics?) experiments to review and analyze after
I <3 giving Ss a challenge like "you can only take 5 pictures" - this encourages them to think out every shot. I learned that in college with bw film, but for our Ss, photography is so instant they don't always value each image. This pushes them outside the box :) #AppleEDUchat
A4 photography and videos bring lessons to life! I’ve had Ss create lessons for others by filming the process, experiment, or project. Bring green screen in for even more WOW factor. #AppleEDUchat
A4 I’ve always liked Pilar Munday’s use of Instagram to learn foreign language vocabulary. Give a different word each day and have the students find and post of picture of it. https://t.co/m9K5eIXWDF#AppleEDUchat
A4: Way back in the day, I'd have my learners take photos outside of their classroom using their iPads of something that represents what they learned in our math class. They'd have to explain their thinking in an interactive whiteboard app. #AppleEDUChat
A4) We use photography many ways…one of my many favorites is when young adults learn what photos to take so they can create digital cards for family/friends. Also, creating photo walk videos - each is so unique. #AppleEduChat
A4: I took Ss on a walk through Philadelphia where they photographed memorials and monuments. They used the photographs to help understand, document, & analyze the purpose. Credit for project goes to @ckklynen - always an inspiration. #AppleEDUChat
Q4: Using real life photos we take ourselves or find online are so important for our english language learners to help navigate them through new words & concepts that are difficult to understand on a worksheet or text with nothing but words! #AppleEduChat#EnglishLanguageLearners
Love that you said that! @carriew_h and I were presenting today and people ignored the "camera" station because everyone uses it...we reminded them there are so many features that are often overlooked! Love panos, slo-mo & time lapse! So many classroom applications! #AppleEDUchat
A4 I’ve always liked Pilar Munday’s use of Instagram to learn foreign language vocabulary. Give a different word each day and have the students find and post of picture of it. https://t.co/m9K5eIXWDF#AppleEDUchat
A4 The camera is powerful for mathematics - allowing students to see math from their perspective! Take pics, compare/contrast, annotate. https://t.co/faDwwPnIkJ#AppleEDUchat
A4: We take photos of completed #PBL work and link it through #AR to a video of the student’s creative process so it’s not just about the finished product #AppleEDUchat
A4: I love challenging students to use extreme closeups to find patterns and perspectives they don’t normally see. #lookharder#seemoredeeply change your point of view in the world! #AppleEDUchat
YES! I love this too! :) Also, if there is something you "cant" (there's always a way...) photograph in class, Pexels is a great website with fair-use (high quality!) images! :) Plus....there's always drawing! :) They can always use that, no matter the topic! :) #AppleEDUchat
A4-I love teaching the student how to use the camera to show their learning. Lately we have taken pics and videos to use as the background for their #GreenScreen videos. #appleeduchat@DoInkTweets
A5 Clips can be used in every subject at any part of the lesson- Hook, Inform, Asses & even just to entertain. Easy to share broader to school community on SM for p's. Awesome examples in #EveryoneCanCreate Student Guide! #AppleEduChat
A5: often times we aren’t sure what students were thinking when we see their answers. Filmmaking allows us to see and hear what kids were thinking, truly demonstrating what they know. #AppleEDUchat
A5: Interviewing experts in the field. Student interview and create short documentaries. Teachers filmmaking, literacy through creating questions and the storyline behind what parts of the interview they include. #AppleEDUchat
A5.#1 Filmmaking, Digital StoryTelling, Book Trailers, Etc... are excellent ways to transform regular pedagogy and learning approaches. Having students share their learning, understanding and knowledge through video and film in all Curric. areas is so purposeful #AppleEDUchat
A5: video is embedded in everything, as said we film the iterative process of creating physical design projects that are linked to the final product. We also have an annual student film festival that I organized #AppleEDUchat
A5: I like to think of film as a way to integrate all of the media we’ve been talking about l. Last year I had My seniors write the story of legacy they wanted to leave the school. They had to include original projects, photographs, and musics to show their story. #AppleEDUChat
A5: Want to help students find why they have error in their science experiments? Have them film the experiment and then compare process with other groups. #AppleEDUchat
A5: You can do absolutely anything with film making for various content areas. I'd love to coach an educator how learners can create their own TED Ed style videos for interesting discoveries. Like Earth's circumference! https://t.co/CsUoTuHu7A#AppleEDUChat
A5: Part of our curriculum is "telling a story through art" and I love using video for this! The kids can think through their regular art concepts, plus time and sound, and create true stories that feature their art. #AppleEDUchat
A5: in drive thru at KFC, so I don’t have an example right now. But in history Ss will film with Green Screen and insert themselves in a location such as the Great Wall. Have even created historical newscasts of assasination of Julius Caesar. #AppleEDUChat
A5.#2 As tchs we also need to remember that filmmaking and video is not a lengthy process for students. #clips, #imovieiOS, #youtube and #youtubelive are easy & fast for kids to use. #AppleEDUchat
Q4: In history, analyzing & emulating photographic primary sources, thus learning from New Deal photographers from Farm Security Admin and Office of War Info. Many of these “free” primary sources in @librarycongress & @USNatArchives#AppleEDUChat
A5 show what you know! Filmmaking is great for applying knowledge and sharing authentically. Ss go above and beyond to demonstrate mastery. Filmed science experiments, added to @BookCreatorApp and created year long science journals with virtual write ups. #AppleEDUchat
YES! I was just telling someone that video will be the media for this generation....not black and white paper copies. They can let their voice be heard, and their personality shine, while learning and teaching others! :) #AppleEDUchat
A5: Want to help students find why they have error in their science experiments? Have them film the experiment and then compare process with other groups. #AppleEDUchat
A5-Video design is such an incredibly easy way for students to discuss or share their thoughts and ideas about any topic or subject. #AppleEDUChat#EarthDay
A5: I haven't tried this myself on the iPad but observed it...record/tell a story in three different groups, one assigned beginning, middle, and then end. Each group travels with the iPad to tell their piece of the story, no-one knows how it will look until done. #AppleEDUChat
A5 documentaries for social studies projects. My students also did some Vlogs as formative assessments @flipgrid is the perfect examples. #AppleEDUchat
A5 It’s one of the main ways our distance students can work together synchronously - connect using a videoconferencing tool like FaceTime or Zoom and record while everyone works together to make a presentation. #AppleEDUchat
My preservice teachers spend multiple classes exploring iMovie, Clips and other movie making apps. (plus writing comparative reviews). Then they looks at how to turn a video into a lesson https://t.co/BdvJJ9ByCW#AppleEDUchat
Q6: The Everyone Can Create curriculum provides free, fun lessons that teach creative skills and techniques. What advice would you give a peer interested in incorporating this curriculum into their classroom? #AppleEduChat
A5: Need help with knowing how to frame shots for interviews and other videos. Check out this book from ADE Michael Hernandez “Interviews for Video” https://t.co/Dz6Yr9ArJ4#AppleEDUchat
A5: We created stop-motions to visualize student poetry, and then used Aurasma (now HP Reveal) to tag their video to their art in augmented reality! :) So fun! #AppleEDUchat
Q6: The Everyone Can Create curriculum provides free, fun lessons that teach creative skills and techniques. What advice would you give a peer interested in incorporating this curriculum into their classroom? #AppleEduChat
Couldn't agree more! It can be something as simple as creating a YouTube channel or turning a Padlet into a digital bulletin board that can be shared out #AppleEDUchat

Q6: The Everyone Can Create curriculum provides free, fun lessons that teach creative skills and techniques. What advice would you give a peer interested in incorporating this curriculum into their classroom? #AppleEduChat
A5: I’d love to see a student answer a history DBQ (Document Based Question) via video, especially Clips. That would push the creativity envelope in a unique way. #AppleEDUChat
A6: Provide the structure for students to create and be creative but don't create requirements...(number of slides, minutes of video, number of photos) Let them get creative and hold them to high standards. They will amaze you! Students are so incredible! #AppleEDUchat
A6 Dive into the resources- they are there to support you as you integrate creative mediums into the classroom. You don't have to be the expert in each, but you can def feel empowered to support s's in up-leveling their creative expressions! #AppleEDUchat
Q6: The Everyone Can Create curriculum provides free, fun lessons that teach creative skills and techniques. What advice would you give a peer interested in incorporating this curriculum into their classroom? #AppleEduChat
A6: I would advise educators to learn WITH their learners. Even if you really know how to do everything in there. Pick out one from the student multitouch book, and create something together! Go through a few rounds of feedback and revision. Make something awesome! #AppleEDUChat
Take baby steps,it can be overwhelming trying to do too much all at once.Pick something, research & plan it, then as Nike says-JUST DO IT! Record success & fails, & ask the kids what they thought of the lesson too, it is for them after all! #AppleEDUChat#JustDoIt#KidsDeserveIt
A6. #2 Also, the rewards that are reaped by 'having a go' massively exceed the risks! This goes for the teacher, school and of course the students! #AppleEDUchat
A6: Give Ss choice....whether limited or open-ended, and let them show you what they know. You don't have to be an expert in everything to use tech in your room! Kids surprise us with their skills and are great at being resourceful with tools! #AppleEDUchat
A6-Just jump in and try it tomorrow! Your students will surprise & thank you! This #ClassroomClips video was created by a 3rd grader, in 30 mins, wrote her facts from class, found free to share & use pics, & created #AppleClips video. #AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate#ipads4edu
A6 Talk with your peers and PLN - find out what worked and didn’t work for them. There’s a lot of great advice out there and you might find something better or more cost effective. Test your solution first before trying it with the students. #AppleEDUchat
A6: Don’t be afraid to try a new app for the first time, and let Ss take the lead! If they know how to use the app - let them teach you and the class! #AppleEDUChat
Q6: The Everyone Can Create curriculum provides free, fun lessons that teach creative skills and techniques. What advice would you give a peer interested in incorporating this curriculum into their classroom? #AppleEduChat
A6: One of the many reasons I love @AppleEDU is because they are constantly providing educators with resources to learn new ways to create. The #EveryoneCanCreate books are full of ideas for teachers. So, just start! Let the kids help you in the creative journey! #AppleEDUchat
A6: use the resources in the curriculum to get you started. There are some great ideas in this book: “Video, Music, Photography, Drawing” by Apple Education https://t.co/iijZaO5pHQ#AppleEDUchat
Thank you for joining us tonight for #AppleEDUchat. @AprilRequard and I had so much fun learning from all of you! What great examples!! See you next week!!
A6: Believe in the power of "yes and..." and let them pursue their ideas! If all else fails...."There's a tutorial for that" - there are unlimited resources online, so we, as teachers, don't have to be experts, we just have to know how to find them :) #AppleEDUchat
