Hello I'm dropping in to check out the chat tonight. In Rocklin CA but formerly taught at Wooster High in Reno in the 90s
No quote, more just the Ss that come back to me years later to show me where they've been and express gratitude, that's way better
. time to appreciate teachers on
I’m in! Thanks for the reminder!

A1 thank you-all the time, especially to my GT push-in support & my Ss are taught early on how to write thank you letters too
A1-Also thanked my good friend from AZ for our great conversations on .
A2: Lightening their load is a great way to thank Ts.
a2 My friend will take over recess duty for teachers to give them extra time.
A2 you’re asking the least creative guy. mention T name to admins
A2: Pop in to a Ts class and say something nice in front of all of their Ss
A2-Allowing educators more time to eat lunch. Sounds simple, but could make a huge difference in attitude + thinking.
Totally. I tell Ts if I haven’t made your job easier I’m not doing things right https://t.co/bMbJ3h7HHr
A2: Lightening their load is a great way to thank Ts.
Don’t know what Q was, but yes, something I do to help Ts. Simple things TOSAs & coaches can do https://t.co/9vVln7H42K
a2 My friend will take over recess duty for teachers to give them extra time.
A2-Sometimes that quick quirky handwritten note or shout-out for the staff to hear is a great way.
A2: I like picking up an extra latte for my school neighbor or bringing treats into a dept meeting.
Or, watching their class so they can take a restroom break
Thank you to , last July's chat turned into a legacy- Shark Tank & an urban roof top apiary is coming soon 😄🐝
A2: Covering duty, Rave Reward, handwritten note, cover for prep, etc.
A1. Last week for our teachers who hosted for the ES visits.
Q3: They say teaching is the noblest profession. Do you think is too much, not enough, or just right? Why
I try to drop these on desk in rooms when I see Ts taking risks and trying new things with tech. https://t.co/Pfcuzl1j05
I do that all the time. Plus it is fun interacting with different students.
A3: I would like to see the mindset of this week be something that happens throughout the year. Ts deserve to be respected.
A3: is nice, but I don't need gifts to know I'm appreciated, see it in my Ss and colleagues daily
A3 would be nice if this week's attitude and appreciation endured all year long
A3-We shouldn't need it b/c it should happen daily based on impact we have in students lives. But it doesn't so reminder is good
a3 I think is good except when students try to one up each other.
A3: it's always nice to show gratitude and to be appreciated.Nothing wrong with taking some time to do both.
I agree, it's an attitude that shouldn't just bee a week but year-round.
A3: It is a grt reminder, but just like in any profession, being shown appreciation is imprtnt daily/weekly from Ps,Ts,Ss & admin.
A3: A community of gratitude thru the year will build a better school climate. Little things are important
It would do a lot to elevate and energize the profession as a whole https://t.co/qSSsZS9Aob
I agree, it's an attitude that shouldn't just bee a week but year-round.
A3 Ha, I already took advantage of the free buffet at Atlantis, & I can't wait to hit up the bookstore for $20 credit 😍
A3. I agree with . I don't really need much other than a simple thank you.
Q4-Do education leaders use thanks & appreciation correctly? Why or why not?
A3 It's that one time of year were my teacher id comes in handy 😁😏😊
A4: depends, but I am thankful that i hv an amazing admin that shows appreciation often.
A4 school leaders yes, political leaders no
A3 : While it's nice to be appreciated, teaching is a humbling career. High fives, smiles, and some learning are all I need
A4: Depends on the leader, good leaders are sincere, frequent with thanks, many leaders patronize though, making it meaningless
A4-Ed leaders that are good do use it correctly to motivate, innovative, & move the profession forward... just not enough of them
A4: Is there a right or wrong way to show gratitude? The effort to show thanks should be appreciated.
A3: Just a reminder that we should be grateful for those who teach every week. Reminders are good
A3: Teacher Appreciation looks like a culture where teachers are trusted partners
I can see that. But if it makes you feel that way, is it really gratitude? That's an agenda.
a4- . It's always good to be shown gratitude from leaders, even if not done in the best way
A3: But it doesn't hurt to thank people individually (not in vague blanket way) throughout the year.
Hashtag assist https://t.co/oCorarqglr
A4. Not always. Sometimes appreciation for a good job turns into more jobs to do :)
That is appreciation. From those who matter. (Mike from MD - ES Librarian- Lurking)
Why thank you my friend :) (She said with absolutely no agenda)
A4: leaders need to knw what &how their staff expects gratitude. Some Ts you can say TY, others want a note, etc.
a4 Too often thanks comes too late or seems fake. Ts need continuous ongoing feedback just like Ss (both positive & negative)
Q5: Take a moment to share a special “thanks” to former teacher or anyone else from your childhood that made an impact.
A4 love how my admin came up w/non $$ ways to show appreciation, my Ss get to wear my fav colors Wed. hot pink, black, & Raiders 😜
A4:Sometimes recognitions come w/competitions.Not a bad thing but thanks can also be organic and sincere w/out having to "win".
Some do and some don't. Depends on the leader
