A4: Making global learning a seamless part of programming when there’s already so many activities to do!
A4: during the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The migrant sponsored an integegrated unit. My class had k-5 grade students.
A lot of people are just no proactive to seek things out on their own. Get some free resources available for them.
So true - but those programs should realize global topics would engage those kids - especially in the summer!
And then she was gone....great seeing you, !
Great to find a fellow 'non-profiter' ;) Sounds like an amazing program. Used to work in a similar field.
Thinking about the importance of our school librarians & how they could help w/ this. A4 Our school has read aloud wkly/summer

Summer Olympics might be the start of some global learning
Thats great that the school library has summer programming!
|| A long story. :) Nutshell: a class project turned into a multi-school org that Skypes schools into Uganda.
If your 6yo is using it, I better get mine on it...as soon as I figure out what it is...

The most popular overnight camp in my area offers wizard and dragon camps - but nothing global :(
A6: Go to your local library and study one particular culture or country of your child’s choosing.
As a CA kid, never did a hydrant. That seemed very wasteful, and still makes me squirm. https://t.co/xPrE9Nq6yM

Yes and 4H and FFA. They all have global programs. https://t.co/OOz8Sez6VC

Thinking in the future that it might be nice to offer a summer list of books to read around a community need.
A6: Check out local libraries + programs. If they don't have a global reading program, help them start one.
reading is a window to the world. I remember my dad giving me NatGeo Explorer books one Summer.
Planning. Did it take a lot of time?
Food trucks in PDX would be a great experience! From Cambodia to Canada, we have one for every country!
A6: Most Canadian communities took in Syrian refugees this year; lots of free city kid events where they'll be out playing.
A6: I'm going to try google cardboard over the summer for a tour of the world!
& how it may connect globally. Thinking about how we can collaborate alongside each other to solve problems.
