Hi my friend!!!! So excited to see you!
A1: lack of tech skills to use tech as a resource for Ss as a seamless part of the curriculum, Office doesn't count
thanks nothing special just happy to work with a great and great kids!
Melissa, third grade teacher, live tweet lover!
Katie. High School Teacher Librarian in Cali, finally made it home
A1: Top challenges for HS moving to college: #1 - Problem solving. #2 - English & communications. #3 Curiosity (hacking)
Happy to have you Terrence 😄
A1 HigherEd may assume familiarity with LMSs not utilized K-12
hi!!!! I've missed you!!! So glad u r here!
Brett, Course Developer with from TX
A1 Personally, I've had new teachers right out of college admit 2 me they didn't get nearly enough training.
A1: Different platforms in highered (eg, Blackboard) compared to K-12 (eg, Google Apps)
A1: Time management on asynchronous learning platforms (online classes!)
Hello Happy to be here supporting co-founder and with our two other co-founders
A1: It breaks my heart when I receive a packet of the slide show that the professor is presenting.
Riina from St. Louis, joining for the 1st time.
A1 (cont'd) from 's book--they need a little less Piaget and a little more Pinterest.
Ahhh!! Who doesn't know Jen?? Quick! Follow her now! She's amazing! https://t.co/l4H09x4AKR
Hi friends at ! Jennifer from Clearwater, FL! Literacy specialist & co-founder of & !
Looking forward to meeting you at EdCamp
A1 Accessibility is a huge gap. Staying late after school, accepting work late...just doesn't even bandaid the issue
Hi Danielle! Love seeing fellow Florida educators :)
A1: The number of Ss that drop out of college before they've completed their 1st year is as sure as a sign as they come 😞
I totally feel that, just got the girls to bed with the time change
A1 The ability to make choices about tech tools best for them...not just what they are told to use by Ts.
A1 preparing the kids in middle school where they have never used blended learning skills.
A1 I have worked in both, and the gap is preparing students for what the real world is now. Its not just passing AP tests!
does a great job with this. I am a virtual mentor in her program. It needs to be repeated!
Exactly: tools used in K-12 are not used in many higher ed courses except maybe ed ones https://t.co/Klowkw888t
A1 HigherEd may assume familiarity with LMSs not utilized K-12
Running late, my little one is having a hard time sleeping. Jerrica, third grade teacher, Florida
Hey there I’m not home from school yet! Helping a student jump start her car…
Q1/A1: only using tech as substitution in learning in reference to SAMR model
Reminds of “you must know cursive for HS” spiel I used to get in grade schoo!! RT :Different platforms in highered
A1 Jobs like Google and Pixar don’t require college degrees anymore. Colleges need to rethink what they are educating Ss on
Q1: I see seniors fail to pass entrance exams in Eng. and need 2 catch up eng classes b4 Eng100 :(
beyond the call of duty! Hey, Rachel!
I like this! is so important! https://t.co/rRY6gYb7BX
A1 The ability to make choices about tech tools best for them...not just what they are told to use by Ts.
A1: in my experience it goes from project-based learning (k12) to sit-and-get learning. Tech is used as substitution tool
I wouldn't say Pinterest. I would say move to more student driven learning
I see a gap classroom to classroom in all of K-12. Students are not getting equal access.
isn't that the truth:( TN is working hard to remedy this
And then they read it. A tree died for that?!?!?!
No Internet @ home = No to knowing tech outside school.
Need access to understand how it works.
Just got in to join Carrie from 3rd grade So Fl
Hi Jerrica. Poor little guy!
A1: Students "voice" is lost
not sure a fair ?. Best to focus on models of integration and learning. Tools/needs vary school by school.
Always on call 😀 https://t.co/KDnhVrAGgx
Hey there I’m not home from school yet! Helping a student jump start her car…
A1: The digital natives myth lulls many millenials into a sense of false tech superiority. Tech 4 learning shld B taught.
. Unfortunately I don’t even see project based in most schools after 6th grade https://t.co/yXl9bOn0SO
A1: in my experience it goes from project-based learning (k12) to sit-and-get learning. Tech is used as substitution tool
Very true w/in schools, districts, regions, across states https://t.co/jhOvOn3Y8f
I see a gap classroom to classroom in all of K-12. Students are not getting equal access.
A1) Not all classes / school are equal in implementing technology at the K-12 level. Use and availability varies.
I am in higher Ed teacher prep and new faculty are coming in and helping older faculty get with it https://t.co/K48TkLYBNM
This. Also, if Ss can make a living on YouTube w/o college...why do they need to go? https://t.co/eB7pRfxhBU
A1 Jobs like Google and Pixar don’t require college degrees anymore. Colleges need to rethink what they are educating Ss on
Ugh. Not good https://t.co/lgpNeHrHoa
Q1: I see seniors fail to pass entrance exams in Eng. and need 2 catch up eng classes b4 Eng100 :(
You are so right. Lots of talk now about that's for sure! https://t.co/oF5kRo988n
A1 I have worked in both, and the gap is preparing students for what the real world is now. Its not just passing AP tests!
A1: I think varying forms of communication are challenges for bridging from K12 to higher ed.
A1: Profs. only using office hours for meetings...no conference/video calls...emails...phones...etc
Hi ... Katie Ann here from KS - Computer Science Teacer, EdTech & Guru
Yes. There's such opinion circling this. Maybe a good topic for ! https://t.co/WDtqKsRGi7
A1 Jobs like Google and Pixar don’t require college degrees anymore. Colleges need to rethink what they are educating Ss on
A1: It can be a train wreck when a S experiences digital freedom for the first time w/ out digcit instruction...
Hey Katie! Thanks for joining us!
There's an app for that. :)
A1: Teachers lack skills needed to feel comfortable with tech with students, also afraid to try/fail
A1: Teachers lack skills needed to feel comfortable with tech with students, also afraid to try/fail
Absoluetly! It is like the educational lottery.
yes. I love how TN provides dual credit/enrollment opportunities to help w this
Need a guest moderator https://t.co/T2y2vkpR6O
Yes. There's such opinion circling this. Maybe a good topic for ! https://t.co/WDtqKsRGi7
A1 Jobs like Google and Pixar don’t require college degrees anymore. Colleges need to rethink what they are educating Ss on
How are students expected to write? Read? Present? Share? All forms of communication.
Oh Snap. she said the four letter word that causes students to fail in a bad way
i agree no enough creation and innovation in the classroom Ts have to loose the control some
So true! Love that Google Classroom can change that reality.
I'm wondering if we have many in higher ed who are not independent thinkers.
Q2. Do you feel the gap between K-12 & Higher Ed is concerning? Explain...
What is the gap? I've seen super analogue college classes & taken classes online. Also 1:1 or 1 computer lab in k-12
That's what I'm seeing too. Maybe an LMS in use but that's about it:( https://t.co/mpeAE1uS01
A1: in my experience it goes from project-based learning (k12) to sit-and-get learning. Tech is used as substitution tool
I see gaps in differentiating my 6 & 8 grader get almost none.. While I in 3rd do it all day
this is a great point, just because they are native doesn't mean they are fluent
why LMS ex? Taking online courses not same as learning to teach online. We never say this of F2F.
I've seen plenty of Ss who don't know where settings are for anything other than wifi. https://t.co/oyfQuPFuYY
A1: The digital natives myth lulls many millenials into a sense of false tech superiority. Tech 4 learning shld B taught.
A1 Student ownership. Letting students lead their learning.
A1: as a teacher in elem Ed and student in masters program, gaps are defined by Ts lack of knowledge or refusal to use tech
Google Classroom is rarely used in higher ed, so hard to prep those in ed programs
great point Terry. Can anything be done in higher ed to lessen the gap w this?
truth!sometimes lack of access due to lack of funding, sometimes its avail but Ts choses not to use https://t.co/VWO0d2Ttpy
I see a gap classroom to classroom in all of K-12. Students are not getting equal access.
A2 Huge gap even from 5th grade to Middle school. Ss my use tech but they don't know how to use it for education.
true. But many cities r providing access maps for students so they can connect from elsewhere
my higher Ed project have students pick the topic & the tools to solve it. Makes student own it
A1 most colleges Ss are expected to "know" a lot of tech to apply in class but we're never explicitly taught
A2 Yes- its not preparing Ss 4 the real world. Those Ss who dont go 2 college arent prepared and college isnt preparing them
hi Carrie!!! Great to see you
A2: Yes. Putting emphasis on same old things that don't hold relevance. If orientation is about what binder I need..I'm out
it's also hard when some Ss know everything and some barley know how to power on a device
I think it's concerning because all schools k-12 should share the same mission with I know it's not easy.
A1: honestly I feel there is a continuum from k5 to Higher Ed, the more "specialized" the T the less they need tech gimmick
I know if our new Ts come in comfortable and prepared and ready to go, it will HELP close the gap. https://t.co/jkuiQyVjYS
great point Terry. Can anything be done in higher ed to lessen the gap w this?
A1 How technology is used to teach Ss. More online blended learning available in higher Ed then k-12.
A2) I'm not sure if I understand the K-12 & Higher Ed Gap enough. I probably should be concerned about it.
A1: Most colleges for profit-have the funds for technology. Public K-12 has to pick btw wants and needs.
A2: yes bc if kids are learning one way in K12 that won't be valid in college, then what are we preparing them for?
A2: Ss in K-12 are getting prepped for the digital world and then to take a 4 year break from tech...
Even a bigger gap from High School to Higher Ed. Went to a college visit & the Math teacher was still doing chalk & lecture
A2: I think it is heavily dependent on the individual schools. One program is going to be so different from the next.
True for programming jobs too. Hve self-taught program frnds in grt jobs because of it. https://t.co/uwRQK2k8N0
A1 Jobs like Google and Pixar don’t require college degrees anymore. Colleges need to rethink what they are educating Ss on
I think there's a transition towards offering more blended learning exp in K-12 as well https://t.co/U1N0BP9TGy
A1 How technology is used to teach Ss. More online blended learning available in higher Ed then k-12.
A2 not as much of a gap in knowing how to use it but how to learn with tech is more of the problem
A2 I think it's concerning because all schools k-12 should share the same mission with I know it's not easy.
A2: & if we say that k12 is better prep for life then what is COLLEGE preparing them for if they teach totally differently?
A1 Ts need feel comfortable w/ Tech. Tech can't be used for surface learning. https://t.co/7kEeU6VQUM
That's what I'm seeing too. Maybe an LMS in use but that's about it:( https://t.co/mpeAE1uS01
A1: in my experience it goes from project-based learning (k12) to sit-and-get learning. Tech is used as substitution tool
But most colleges are non-profits
Over Ts saying they don't know how. Shoot, I don't either...let's figure it out and rock the class.
A2: Certainly! is no longer revolutionary. It IS . If tech isnt a vital piece, we've failed Ss.
A2: Learning in a digital format is what the future looks like...it's time to embrace tech and use it to enhance LIFE.
Hmm... good question. https://t.co/nhlMRHG87n
A2: & if we say that k12 is better prep for life then what is COLLEGE preparing them for if they teach totally differently?
A2 students are coming with multiple devices on them. They are unbelievably connected. Just how to learn
A2 Cont’d One problem is colleges are requiring students to take APs and other tests that don’t show skill, only memory
We need more PD we are given many things schoology, one note, Google classroom, how can I master it all at once
So what can we do? https://t.co/bcAfpEuhgM
A2 Yes- its not preparing Ss 4 the real world. Those Ss who dont go 2 college arent prepared and college isnt preparing them
A2: Preservice Ts need to know how to prepare Ss for the world they will live in. Needs to be a piece of their education.
A1 I teach in sm college. SmartBrds & wifi, but impl of apps, tech in general seems stunted. Trying to impl cell phones.
Ss here have Chromebooks in 3rd grade, lose them lil later or aren't 1:1. Some Schools are 1:1. Most aren't.
A2: For our profession (College of Ed), YES!! If Tech Integration isn’t part of T prep, new t’s are at a disadvantage!
yes! They are so conditioned to the "easy" button answers. Teaching problem solving is so vital!
And, are Ss going to be using something similar in college?
A2: the structure has to change, leaders have the road for tech to accelerate learning
Sadly true. Gaps need to be closed. https://t.co/5xBWkNgqYf
I see a gap classroom to classroom in all of K-12. Students are not getting equal access.
we dumped the LMS in our class. They restrict thought. Students need to find their own info
Then K-12 isn't preparing for college, eg. BYOD bans, blocked sites in K-12
Hey all!Sorry I'm a tad late!Working on slides 4 a chat later this week!! Hopefully I didn't miss much!! (Amber here, btw!)
A2: depends on where they go. Depends on system, but tech may be the Ss drive in Higher Ed
Ah so now we need to talk teacher prep programs! Excellent point! https://t.co/TxTy0KBvkd
I know if our new Ts come in comfortable and prepared and ready to go, it will HELP close the gap. https://t.co/jkuiQyVjYS
great point Terry. Can anything be done in higher ed to lessen the gap w this?
Mike from MD. Too sleepy to get the right chat name. We'll see if this is quality time.
PREACH! If we don't model that space between comfort and panic where learning happens, who will? https://t.co/63TxZyfSK7
Over Ts saying they don't know how. Shoot, I don't either...let's figure it out and rock the class.
I talk to & about this almost daily. :( blocked = no trust
Since colleges arent doing it it will fall 2 k-12 to prepare Ss. More schools R beginning 2 do this https://t.co/Ge580HQtRY
So what can we do? https://t.co/bcAfpEuhgM
A2 Yes- its not preparing Ss 4 the real world. Those Ss who dont go 2 college arent prepared and college isnt preparing them
in higher Ed they can us their phone where it may have been prohibited in their school
More Ts are making shifts in K-12 but there is still many who think they don't have the time.
Question of the night goes to ! https://t.co/rBZfUhtRrd
A2: & if we say that k12 is better prep for life then what is COLLEGE preparing them for if they teach totally differently?
agreed ! see many new Ts w/o tech integration skills
A2:Yes,gaps are concerning. If we do not provide authentic tech experiences for our students, they may not see its value
Darn, have to jump out! Love this conversation though! I will catch up on archives! Thanks friends at & !
How can students be when its role is to consume 411 instead of empowering voice and choice in the TL process
if there isn't enough inertia this can be quite a battle
A2: We also need to equip current Ts with appropriate and relevant PD and coaching.
A2 YES!!! I'm not okay with someone struggling just because they are over 18 https://t.co/XoDeALGqs0
Q2. Do you feel the gap between K-12 & Higher Ed is concerning? Explain...
but it isn't about tech. We need students who know how to think
I've been doing the same thing! 👍
PBL from Genius Hour to lesson creation and Problem solving it's "easier" to lecture and the push isn't in higher Ed yet
It's not just education anymore, tech is life/careers!
Dangerous generalization. Privileges those w/ opps & HS ed access not all have. 1/2
Precisely so K-12, esp HS, is not preparing students for reality of highered https://t.co/SRL3X2NKGC
in higher Ed they can us their phone where it may have been prohibited in their school
alarming is not strong enough a word
As a Professor: Student engagement, curiosity, & willingness to learn trumps knowledge. https://t.co/PwSx9VO7Zr
Q2. Do you feel the gap between K-12 & Higher Ed is concerning? Explain...
"EdTech IS education. If tech isn't a vital piece, we've failed Students!" https://t.co/vwcwtgcRvG
A2: Certainly! is no longer revolutionary. It IS . If tech isnt a vital piece, we've failed Ss.
Also a difference understanding and appropriateness-k-2 students should not be on computers as much as 3-12 students.
80% of all future jobs require a tech background!
we need students to know how to use the tools they do have and not flashy things
precisely. "It's just a tool" makes it sound optional and superfluous. Not so.
feel like some colleges R really looking at this. younger Ts are coming in more prepared that most https://t.co/h3oPmSybeq
I know if our new Ts come in comfortable and prepared and ready to go, it will HELP close the gap. https://t.co/jkuiQyVjYS
great point Terry. Can anything be done in higher ed to lessen the gap w this?
Moodle. We post all of our student created learning on a wiki instead
A2 Instead of teaching digital citizenship ISD's block sites that could be educational. More freedom in higher Ed.
What do you think it might take to get the push into higher Ed? https://t.co/TlklGaE7Hl
PBL from Genius Hour to lesson creation and Problem solving it's "easier" to lecture and the push isn't in higher Ed yet
Agree It’s a need to know to survive in todays world https://t.co/rKXgVvfk2u
precisely. "It's just a tool" makes it sound optional and superfluous. Not so.
Or its necessity😜MY DAD carries an iPad to work. He's a CARPENTER! Tech is a must no matter the job https://t.co/SWgOi9dsy9
A2:Yes,gaps are concerning. If we do not provide authentic tech experiences for our students, they may not see its value
So is Twitter blocked in many schools
Yes!Technology in Ed is like water now. Are we going to teach them to sink or swim? From https://t.co/jGUfwzFwF3
A2: Certainly! is no longer revolutionary. It IS . If tech isnt a vital piece, we've failed Ss.
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
you are telling me. I have been clone 6 times and all of them exploded
Exactly. If u can't figure out attachments/email, you're already less marketable at most jobs
A2 I can't speak to the GAP, what r professor professional devs like? How much PD happens in HigherEd?
On the other hand, EdTech conferences rarely attract combo of highered & K-12
I need students who know how to prototype with simple materials. Not everything needs to be tech
Have you seen some of the things does with her higher ed Ss? https://t.co/jkuiQyVjYS
great point Terry. Can anything be done in higher ed to lessen the gap w this?
Well if all life is is College & Career readiness ....
Ex. I've never done excel or sheets. Wanted a leader board for my coders. Bam. Figured it out.
he doesn’t use it as a hammer, like I’ve seen in recent commercials; does he?
I would venture to say minimal. I'm curious why we don't see more from higher ed at edcamps? https://t.co/ehHABxHkRg
A2 I can't speak to the GAP, what r professor professional devs like? How much PD happens in HigherEd?
The hardest tech education is IT administrators and school administration, not students. They block more than education.
if it isn't in the place they expect, students flip out
Don't forget . There are big gaps here too.
A3 we need to have a collaboration with college professors and figure out how can we get on the same page.
A2 Ss don't have the management skills when the transition to higher Ed web based formats.
Yes, & I teach ed tech courses in our grad program & synch it w/ K-12
AGREED! We need to take fear out offer PD-T play time then Ts will become more comfortable w/ TECH https://t.co/smO1h7uMxe
A1: Teachers lack skills needed to feel comfortable with tech with students, also afraid to try/fail
must have balance&tech should be a part, thinking process sld be encouraged w/ pbl&questioning
no! But now I'm interested!!!
Absolutely, in theory that's what we're preparing them for https://t.co/81m0h8BOxr
It's not just education anymore, tech is life/careers!
Im not saying Ss who need it 2 develop further shouldnt go.Not all jobs require it anymore
We are exposing our preservice Ts to digital literacy and computing ed in the course
My cloned doppelganger keeps telling me *I'M* the "evil twin."
Jerk.
https://t.co/XJpFsRw8lg
you are telling me. I have been clone 6 times and all of them exploded
A3 I think conferences need to be like a PLC / PLN / PD to help Ts & Ss at all levels. Connect, Learn & Share
Age old problem:scaffolding.Start @ bottom & let it filtrate through 2 higher ed. Build strong base https://t.co/014mW4xnYx
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
HAHA. Joe Stubenbort would love to; I'm sure. But even he sees its use. https://t.co/xM0jKpTB4x
he doesn’t use it as a hammer, like I’ve seen in recent commercials; does he?
I'm happy to teach anything in my library. Just need resources
Twitter chats w/ higher ed & K-12 is one place to start
Have you seen AERA? Not the advancing anything there except job offers
Hate this-"They can't do it!" Yes kindergarteners can code and use a mouse and 12th graders can write programs!
Agree!!! Ur thinking toward Q5 ;) https://t.co/h8eXubIurl
I would venture to say minimal. I'm curious why we don't see more from higher ed at edcamps? https://t.co/ehHABxHkRg
A2 I can't speak to the GAP, what r professor professional devs like? How much PD happens in HigherEd?
Truth https://t.co/4aOVTnzpAV
The hardest tech education is IT administrators and school administration, not students. They block more than education.
I need to send an attachment. May I borrow a paperclip?
Well stated. https://t.co/dFII2iOIHf
Yes!Technology in Ed is like water now. Are we going to teach them to sink or swim? From https://t.co/jGUfwzFwF3
A2: Certainly! is no longer revolutionary. It IS . If tech isnt a vital piece, we've failed Ss.
It starts with empowering Ts to see how can help accomplish learning goals
Technology is a tool. It's not good. It's not bad. Just is. Ss need to learn how to use it responsibly.
It's not aboout being only problem solvers we have to shift to being problem finders.. K--20 empowers that process
know how students know how to sketch an idea. Maybe 20% at the most. Have to teach students to draw
A3: EdCamp format seems viable at any level. Crowdsourced training shouldn't be exclusive to K12. higher ed seems perfect
A3: higher Ed should be welcome & convos should be open btwn the 2 groups, otherwise the current gap will continue to grow
A3: 1/2 Top-down approach. The schools seeing the increase enrollment t are providing education for high demand jobs.
A3 MUST be fixed.Higher ed should B represented & have a voice & most import LISTEN 2 our concerns! https://t.co/6riovEfoP7
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
A3) I think conferences should also bring in Higher Ed into the conversation. We're helping students.
A3: thats a pedagogy question. I don't know what teaching in HigherEd is like? can any1 tell me what HigherEd fac. PD is?
There is certainly a divide here. Maybe an could start fixing this?
A2 yes! We have a generation of digital natives that don't know how to be digital learners https://t.co/s1TK1YXlvN
Q2. Do you feel the gap between K-12 & Higher Ed is concerning? Explain...
A3:College professors must utilize the resource that is K12 Ts. & I have entertained the idea of reaching out
prof dev in higher Ed is weak in attendance
I was just having this conversation with one of our k teachers the other day!
Yes. One is 2 many...then you want me to teach dig citizenship
Did somebody say ? Yes please! We need new teaching ideas TOO. https://t.co/QpP1WwQQxf
A3) I think conferences should also bring in Higher Ed into the conversation. We're helping students.
A2: gap is alarming! All I do is type papers or discussions. Edtech never used, only PP and Word. Lacks engaging assign.
we are the beacons but not all get it
A3. Yes. If K12 doesn't know what Higher Ed needs and Higher Ed doesn't know what K12 has ...
Many still attract K-12 thou see some highered
A3: 2/2 as demand increases, colleges will have 2 shift. If tech is not required education, consumers (S’) start to notice!
They'll come around or someone else will.
Thinking of gamifying PD to help this hurdle.
A3:Interesting- makes sense. I would love to collaborate w/ team to see how this can look k-highed https://t.co/8iWrevdSCO
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
In elem, we talk across grade levels about expectations and needs this convo between K12 and college might be useful PD
Yes! Why aren't they coming?? https://t.co/Nzz2M0X5Gr
A3) I think conferences should also bring in Higher Ed into the conversation. We're helping students.
I creep on K12 conferences. Higher ed ones are only abt research. I want TEACHING TOOLS
I think we avg 4 peeps in our prof dev
A3. I think tech should always take a P16 plus career take.
A3: yes! huge initiative in my program is bridging the gap between K12 & HigherEd
https://t.co/56Ai7wDLY5
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
Agree, & ISTE would be one place to encourage crossover of highered & k-12
"My professor emailed me the powerpoints from class, and it changed my life." Said no Ss ever.
higher Ed faculty professional development
some of us teaching classes here and there, kids catching fire and it growing just as it has in k12
A3 Higher ed needs to be present. It’s like they are the only cool kids in town and they don’t want to play with the others
Great ! Don't stop there! Keep pushing the boundaries! https://t.co/mN4bkKeNvQ
we do have our 2nd graders work on log ins to help when tech use it expected in 3-5
Love the model of PD. Differentiation isn't just 4 kids. Ts deserve it as well. https://t.co/yisbsnsmgi
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
Love all this talk about ! Q5 will go into this:) https://t.co/v5bH2DUcr4
There is certainly a divide here. Maybe an could start fixing this?
A diamond in the rough 😜 that's why rocks! https://t.co/99FP43P4iu
I creep on K12 conferences. Higher ed ones are only abt research. I want TEACHING TOOLS
The one I do in CT gets a good mixture, but only one day #
are you seeing the same faculty that I am. Research is top on their agenda. what pays bills
A3 How much PD actually goes on in higher Ed? For some reason, I never thought about it and doubt much does
hi Julie!!!! Sorry I missed in !
Students can express their thinking/voice as digital citizens. Ts need to be equipped to teach it. https://t.co/nrQlACGK6Z
know how students know how to sketch an idea. Maybe 20% at the most. Have to teach students to draw
A3 (3/2, sue me! :-) ) conferences havea. Business model, they will follow the demand I believe!
Especially if K12 Ss learn new tools will be prepared for them?
A3: Round my parts, its more k-8 and very little for anyone not a total novice...
Great Julie! Keep it going! Push outside the box and the circle. Share ideas!
whoo-hoo! Thanks! Profs are smart but few know how to deliver knowledge well & engage
Agree w/ but we need more highered doing likewise
not all Higher Ed instructors are Ts...they r professionals in their field & don't always know best practic
There is very little collaboration between education (academia) and biz / IT professionals. Open the comm channels.
exactly not about manipulating a device, but critical thinking and problem solving
You guys act like teaching a class is high on the professor's todo list. Research and presenting is main goals
ah so they r not connecting. So we need to continue these convos!
A3-Need clear target aud. If the audience is too broad, the material may be too thin for each grade span. Def need 6-20
"publish or perish" mentality in HighEd. Profs have little time to Teach, research and publish. K-12 confs take bk seat.
Whoops. Don't forget .. PK Can Code too.
A3 The real Q is should higher Ed courses be tech rich? Depend on degrees? What is ultimate goal? https://t.co/5eqTJjQtVP
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
My students say most profs just lecture with PPT. Makes me unhinged. https://t.co/mTmUocEotT
Especially if K12 Ss learn new tools will be prepared for them?
. had mentioned perhaps having Ts earn badges for PD accomplishments. Display on doors.
I spend a week teaching students to think. Holy crap it is ridiculous
Bwhahahahahah!!!! https://t.co/KUYgXPG4Ng
"My professor emailed me the powerpoints from class, and it changed my life." Said no Ss ever.
you were missed but it went well!
A3: Some of it changes right here on Twitter. Seeking people find answers.
I agree completely not sure if they would be willing to listen but we have to try https://t.co/yUE4uDUtqE
A3 we need to have a collaboration with college professors and figure out how can we get on the same page.
You just have to ask the right person at the higher ed!
Much of the PD is for getting tenure (publishing, presenting at conferences)
A3 Yes it needs to change.Higher Ed can benefit from the PD that is offered to K-12.Ss haven't changed, just grown up.
maybe they don't realize the resources available? How can we help??
supp arts, but Ss sldnt grad hs w/o cpu basics, sad when college Ss lack cpu skills&struggle
Who said because a conference is directed towards K-12 its not okay for the other guys 2 show up? Represent Higher Ed!
Q4. Do you see evidence of a technological deficiency in the work place due to decreased use of tech in higher ed?Describe.
It's my speculation. I'm in PK - 6. I don't know what's going on in MS & HS so I extrapolate.
To what end?! S learning must remain/become the cornerstone of https://t.co/up7vumacXW
"publish or perish" mentality in HighEd. Profs have little time to Teach, research and publish. K-12 confs take bk seat.
Do it! Oh, and come to my town :)
Yes! Love Floors by pixel. Kiddos love be-bits too! Keep them coding!
Home and ready to chime in on the next question! I'm Rachel from MN, currently teaching STEM to K-6.
So I creep ya... Lil TLC anyone? 😜 am I getting old? https://t.co/G4s4iwQRsU
A diamond in the rough 😜 that's why rocks! https://t.co/99FP43P4iu
I creep on K12 conferences. Higher ed ones are only abt research. I want TEACHING TOOLS
Lurking tonight on after grad class! My Prof. asks presentations to include new tech so she can learn new skills!
Once Universities start working with students that know more than the educators, then they'll have no choice...
PD doesn't keep their job in higher Ed
A3 I saw 2 pre-service professors at last Saturday. They see the need!
do you think the focus in higher Ed is in the wrong place?
A3: said it best, college sld attend w/ open mind & seek input & wk together to bridge gap
Just thinking same thing! Expectations need shared -in this case what is done in K12 that should carry over
Its getting thought leaders into those schools to teach them.Oh wait-we can do that https://t.co/Xrbp74kw77
maybe they don't realize the resources available? How can we help??
did a virtual 24hr in Feb. Just a thought.
yay! Hi Pete!!! I've missed you!
A4. I don't see a deficiency but rather an increase. I'm worried that kids are focused too much on social media not on tech
There is PD, just looks different. More small group or one on one type of environments.
Love pushing buttons er um boundaries
A4: The tools used in higher ed & their purposes just might not align with those in workplaces, in some cases
MT "EdTech IS education. If tech isn't a vital piece, we've failed Students!" … https://t.co/qrjgCXyD0G
"EdTech IS education. If tech isn't a vital piece, we've failed Students!" https://t.co/vwcwtgcRvG
A2: Certainly! is no longer revolutionary. It IS . If tech isnt a vital piece, we've failed Ss.
A4 I think the expose of technology to millennials they won't be as affected. People older are affected.
A4: Social media presence and management is a huge company asset. Is this being taught in highered? https://t.co/WuWnnvSurX
Q4. Do you see evidence of a technological deficiency in the work place due to decreased use of tech in higher ed?Describe.
Wife is having 2 go back and learn to code for a PhD In Pure math . This wasn’t a known Prereq when she started her college
that is true, but knowing problem solving is critical to their future college or not
Mine nag me to code. Literally.
I'm not trying to argue for arguments sake, but what is your evidence for this? Huge blanket statement.
What's the teacher evaluation process? Besides Rate my professor sites? hmm curious
I look at our states tech standards and it's no wonder it isn't important to higher Ed in Tennessee
A3; We can hope for ripples. In practicums and internships they learn best practices, bring back to class.
Did you get combo of higher ed & K-12
lurk away! Happy to have you!
A4: YES! Ive seen recent college grads lacking basic tech knowledge, knowing what a browser is, understanding Google docs
Biz needs ppl who can troubleshoot & solve problems. Some Ss only know how to consume tech, not fix when it breaks.
that ain't changing ever if you are at a research institution. Maybe at a teaching college
amazing!!!!! Yay educators!
A4: Some of the pre-serv Ts I've worked with listed tech as weakness. (Maybe why we got paired?) Bad now, getting better.
A4 The jury is out on this for me. I don’t know if there is enough info since skill requirements are changing rapidly.
would you pay to a conference that wasn't geared toward you as an educator?
I've taught K12 & highered. In my current program cannot think of a single AP or memorization task.
we are seeing more higher Ed people going to ISTE
A4: New Ts coming in with "fresh ideas"still seem dated.Apps/websites/programs are still not cutting edge. Not all, but most
These really are basics now. As basic as reading/writing almost. https://t.co/s6wIPLx4R9
A4: YES! Ive seen recent college grads lacking basic tech knowledge, knowing what a browser is, understanding Google docs
Why do they want 3D PPTs? Is it to create a literal maze of learning?
A4: wasn't a required course in college. All I have learned is self guided or from collaboration with teachers.
Great view! https://t.co/zNFgzGMxkh
A4. I don't see a deficiency but rather an increase. I'm worried that kids are focused too much on social media not on tech
A4 I can't see that correlation. Which workpalce? Google, twitter, facebook? Tech inhouse, as need. McD's don't need no PhD
A4 I see a deficit of people who understand how much o use the tech appropriately
you laugh but that is a huge step for some of them
A4 depends on the school but I think locally most pre service Ts are looking to their mentor Ts for advice and modeling
Leaderboard for PD WITH badges.
A4:a lack of causes workplace faux pas after college. It must be a priority to https://t.co/FqV8Hti9bI
Q4. Do you see evidence of a technological deficiency in the work place due to decreased use of tech in higher ed?Describe.
Woot woot! Love making new connections through this wonderful !!
Yes, because sometimes we need to try something diff to understand the other guys https://t.co/0f6g6Oqh43
would you pay to a conference that wasn't geared toward you as an educator?
But doesn't effective use of social media speak to digital literacy!
Oh ok! This is good Julie! What can we do as a team to help w this? https://t.co/lc1G7VgiuO
I look at our states tech standards and it's no wonder it isn't important to higher Ed in Tennessee
And as you mentioned with research and publishing not a big priority for Ss to buy in https://t.co/IMWGDcPW1B
I spend a week teaching students to think. Holy crap it is ridiculous
Problem solving/critical thinking are necessary. How does tech change that thought? https://t.co/6AAgavTq4a
that is true, but knowing problem solving is critical to their future college or not
Tell your Prof to join us.
A4: Social skills, the ability to look at someone and effectively communicate. Can’t lie, I’m worried about this!
A4 I say yes. When a college grad calls a mouse a thingy but can run a shelfie stick. I see a problem.
you realize that class evaluation mean nothing once you get tenure, right?
A4? Seems like we need to get our Colleges of Ed to change.
One small step, but many begin and end there.
A4 cont. average workplace needs app-proficient tech. tech jobs-you need to be tweeting in the womb, thinking in code
A4: Yes! It comes down to "access" we have to support kids in understanding how tech supports them in being
But those evaluations mean a lot before tenure
Sad that I got my M.Ed in two years ago & the "coolest" project involved podcasting and during entire progrm
A4: Work places that have tech presence probably are open to tech opportunities. https://t.co/KFrmveOhTK
Q4. Do you see evidence of a technological deficiency in the work place due to decreased use of tech in higher ed?Describe.
A4) Hmm... Good question. I think it still depends on the person... some T programs seem a bit more tech laden then others
tech only increase sharing at some points. Ss don't have the basic modeling skills needed b4 tech
A4 At my university there are 1300 online, hybrid,or enhanced classes w/ more accessibility then any K-12 campus I have seen
love me some even with daylight savings time!
Really depends on the program of studies in which the student is enrolled
A4 My "Computers in the classroom" college course had me making PhotoStories (slideshows). With MUSAK!
Shouldn't be required course. Should be infused into ALL of the courses.
But is much dif. Than Tech in Workplace. But I Agree! https://t.co/XYBoxeXwA2
A4:a lack of causes workplace faux pas after college. It must be a priority to https://t.co/FqV8Hti9bI
Q4. Do you see evidence of a technological deficiency in the work place due to decreased use of tech in higher ed?Describe.
Just because someone may know how to use their smartphone doesn't mean they can use tech for education.
Good for you! Push 1-1! Grants! Go for it!
no I equate tech with ability to share information
I agree, I just wish they would be willing to step out in front of it
Keep talking... Don't the new standards mesh?
This is a mistake many parents make when assuming their kids know how to use tech because they have a phone.
As said b4 though... it's isn't all about the tech
Main thing is that you need the right mindset.
we will be starting to send out reminders via app soon! Chat about testing this week!
Agree, we need a strong element in our highered programs to prepare Ss for workplace
Not necessarily. Most modern jobs benefit from the use of social media and global connections. https://t.co/OxrJVG6vCG
But you are. You are making me want to buy legos
I completely agree! Do you think it might help pull higher Ed in if collaboration seminars were offered?
Precisely, effective use of social media can make or break someone in many professions
let's meet with Provost at CF and offer to do some PD???
I shouldn't have to build mindset when they get to college. You have to get it going when brains are soft
The old new standards .. Common Core, etc. NGSS
agreed! see honors hs Ss that don't know file navigation or how to save
Absolutely! K-12 isn’t innocent either. They need to invite their older siblings too! https://t.co/eqvyH8n51t
I completely agree! Do you think it might help pull higher Ed in if collaboration seminars were offered?
A4: Yes. Inability to engage in the present. Inability to disconnect from social electronic world. Speeding things up!
Just attended & presented at at University of DE. I went to a session co-led by professors & pre-service Ts.
specific skills aren't needed. But an understanding how tools work together and how to develop ideas
but if that's the language they use, why can't it be part of our instruction? Go to where they live
Ts w/solid T practice & procedure w/out tech can b trained 2 use tech.Good T can teach with little. https://t.co/7zaeamNQ0x
Sad that I got my M.Ed in two years ago & the "coolest" project involved podcasting and during entire progrm
Q5. What are some tools that could be used K-16 to help bridge the gap? Perhaps 9-16?
Completely agree https://t.co/7yB6Y0Xe5o
specific skills aren't needed. But an understanding how tools work together and how to develop ideas
Q for & : What games do you use to promote tech? ? Others? What sites do you use?
theory is a big deal on higher Ed.
Anyone at SITE next wk? Excellent opp to influence HighEd education profs
https://t.co/QLUu2YbWsz
Just attended & presented at at University of DE. I went to a session co-led by professors & pre-service Ts.
I can't wait until we meet.
A5 I am a big fan of for sharing positive accomplishments and digital footprints
Ohhhh!! So wish!!! Let me know how it goes!
Totally with you as long as they use it as a tool for learning. I just think that tech is more than soc. med.
Joining late - so I'm sure I missed a lot, but I think consistency in tools can help a lot
I'm starting to work on multi-state collaborative projects in ES - Can't wait till they get to
Assuming Ts have tools to meet standards-meant our states tech class stands r outdated-no priority https://t.co/uZlE3P2TEh
The old new standards .. Common Core, etc. NGSS
PD is offered at both univs where I teach but very few take advantage. .Not req'd.
A5) There's this thing called Twiitter. Let's connect to higher ed
A5.1: Micro-PDs to start with reluctant staff. Differentiate to get them ready to learn with everyone else
U know I agree w this! Love ! https://t.co/rETaHRqc0M
A5 I am a big fan of for sharing positive accomplishments and digital footprints
A3 collab is gr8 but Ts need to understand how to use it. PD needs to be K-2,3-5,6-8,9-12. https://t.co/29m7x0EfVB
Q3. It appears that most conferences are geared toward a K-12 audience. How can we change this? Do we need to?
A5: Twitter, GHangouts, blogs, shared digital sites
time is so short on higher with committees and projects that PD is hard to get attendance
A5 I think google is a good base to start and build off of that!!
Well we can also offer PD at K-12 and same thing, not all will take advantage https://t.co/x3ieyDERvk
PD is offered at both univs where I teach but very few take advantage. .Not req'd.
Simply equality in resources-tech gadgets and software.Providing adequate PD! https://t.co/XKHwKHvwcD
Q5. What are some tools that could be used K-16 to help bridge the gap? Perhaps 9-16?
Congrats 4 being @ a Univ thats offering that. We would love to hear it being required https://t.co/W82Lu0aaSk
PD is offered at both univs where I teach but very few take advantage. .Not req'd.
A5 I've been messing with . Lightweight, Google integration, not scary
A6: The trick is repurposing the tech tools Ss use regularly. Help them see that & can change the world
wondered where all the graphics were :-)
What is it seemingly missing? Action.
for collaboration could bridge. Some type of online portfolio option to carry work thru? https://t.co/RSsQBWcGag
Q5. What are some tools that could be used K-16 to help bridge the gap? Perhaps 9-16?
Incrporate moments of PD into committee work? https://t.co/vo2sBCGezl
time is so short on higher with committees and projects that PD is hard to get attendance
Web-based presentation tools & teach 2 use images & key points, use Ss voice to explain, teach the audience not read 2 them
Used Tweetups with my Ss - lved it. Also Kahoot, EdPuzzle, etc. no GoNoodle ..yet;) https://t.co/oFNVjAjNw9
Q5. What are some tools that could be used K-16 to help bridge the gap? Perhaps 9-16?
planning an overthrowing...or a co-leader to be nicer
So what do we do to facilitate motivation?
eh true but if it was a priority, they'd make time.
So on this chat can we tell if we have a good mix of highered & K-12? If so, we need more chats like this
https://t.co/Og1I7edjph
It can definitely be done...are we lucky or did we make the luck happen? Probably a little of both. Either way, progress!
Tech is always changing! That's Y we must keep learning https://t.co/kGn8KPC41x

YES!!!!! Let's start a movement! https://t.co/4HB695m282
A5) There's this thing called Twiitter. Let's connect to higher ed
will be looking over more of this great chat tomorrow when I wake up at 4:30 :) Night Night! Great chat !!
A5Seems like the concept would be a brilliant option since little funding required. Think funding is issue with PD?
Don't forget your specialists (librarians, etc.) Often we just watch kids during those meetings
Claify - with my K-8 Ss as well as my collegiate Ss. https://t.co/kpfy7UAxmd
Used Tweetups with my Ss - lved it. Also Kahoot, EdPuzzle, etc. no GoNoodle ..yet;) https://t.co/oFNVjAjNw9

Our school must be odd...we are K-6 and 7-12, separate schools but all in same building. How then?
I'm feelin the love 😄 https://t.co/puhKyvtYZx
So on this chat can we tell if we have a good mix of highered & K-12? If so, we need more chats like this
Very easy 2 use and figure out! Could help struggling Ts.

Q5. What are some tools that could be used K-16 to help bridge the gap? Perhaps 9-16?
Google Apps! Google Extensions, Online Collaboration tools - Adobe Tools - Digital Portfolios
Whats twitter? Never heard of it
A5: I wonder if it's more than tools, but shifting the culture and mindsets in how we use tools and their role in TL,
I see a lot of higher Ed lurkers. I think it's coming.
A5: Twitter, iTunesU, blogs, Instagram
A5: I think anything that's used in the workforce as well, not a fan of teaching tools just for the sake of school
you really have to have another person embedded in the class with the faculty.
This is brilliant!!!!! https://t.co/DTkoYJIm3H
Used Tweetups with my Ss - lved it. Also Kahoot, EdPuzzle, etc. no GoNoodle ..yet;) https://t.co/oFNVjAjNw9

We try to get release time away from work for small groups of instructors
A5 some LMS, twitter, google, FB, blackboard (so 90s, but it works),
A5.2: anything involving S voice defending their logic/reasoning/product. Capture their enthusiasm! ,
Me? I'm just a lowly librarian who knows how to find things.
My Univ GAFE. Using Google Classroom with Ss. Demo how to use - hopefully make impression on them for Ss future class use!
I work in several classes to help facilitate
For any tool, free and web-based important for Ss who may not have access to their own dedicated device
Teach all Ss to work smarter not harder. Build a Digital Toolbox/belt
I was just expecting something with a little more "ummph" in a M.Ed curriculum, not something I knew https://t.co/2sQ2eYguIJ
Why sad? So may Ts and Ss still don't know what podcast or prezi is. Went to ELA con--nobody knew Padlet
What if we all do a in a student center or coffee shop on campus? Model real professional learning for new T's.
Q5: Padlet has huge potential k-16. Edpuzzle too. And all things Google. And add ons like flubaroo.
R building K-5,6-8, 9-12,We broke our down this yr and getting Gr8 results. more meaningful 4 T's https://t.co/MC3fYuJjNa
Our school must be odd...we are K-6 and 7-12, separate schools but all in same building. How then?
This is a great idea Count me in! Modeling is the best form of learning for new Ts! https://t.co/QnfryVt516
What if we all do a in a student center or coffee shop on campus? Model real professional learning for new T's.
I agree completely, which might be why HigherEd has disconnect? Curriculum changes so quickly? https://t.co/7rCb6V9oDm
Tech is always changing! That's Y we must keep learning https://t.co/kGn8KPC41x
A4: New Ts coming in with "fresh ideas"still seem dated.Apps/websites/programs are still not cutting edge. Not all, but most
Will teaching the students K-12 trend to those teacher higher ed?
A5: Get key people on Twitter....truly on and many doors will open. Invite them in, let them see results.
Great idea! https://t.co/AUduDPpwvK
What if we all do a in a student center or coffee shop on campus? Model real professional learning for new T's.
yes there's a great mix on here! Loving it! ---> who's in?
Teach them to connect with experts ... build their own PLN.
great idea! just had one in on sat!
We have a Ss tech team grades 6-8 that help Ts w/tech issues. We even went to the Apple Store! https://t.co/xfIORXSPF6
Have to run. Great questions and answers/thoughts. Have a great night!
On a positive note, I was THRILLED to see several local college students a few weeks ago! Breath of fresh air!
Our university won't use Google Classroom/apps, claiming security issues; uses w/ Blackboard, which isn't K-12
Yes! inspired by Tech and T leaders! https://t.co/q6LtcekAgu
A5: I wonder if it's more than tools, but shifting the culture and mindsets in how we use tools and their role in TL,
A5: I like Quizlet and Vimeo for different projects. Using social media has great & apps.
Except is restricted to Ss accounts. No way to share except to transfer it to new acct
This chat is ridiculously good.
maybe Bryan could give you a ring.
Slowest internet in oregon after wind and snow storm so I'm lurking.
my Ss when I have Twitter displayed: "How did you get so many followers??!!"

Totally agree here, find what you're good at and do it https://t.co/94tnNLDZfj
Teach all Ss to work smarter not harder. Build a Digital Toolbox/belt
Q6. How can we leverage to include K-16? What could we be doing differently so Higher Ed feels included?
I had 2 Ed professors join! It was great for all of us to get varying prospectives.
We can only hope so, but faculty new to be receptive to
students are busy too. I have trouble getting them to mentor kids.
Hey everyone is too too late to jump in?
Teacher Librarians need to be in those meetings. Invite or show up
I bring 45 kids 2campus every week & it is hard for college students to make time
Our specialists r involved . Our Media does gr8 Tech projects with the Ss we're pretty lucky. https://t.co/IN1VsozQ27
Don't forget your specialists (librarians, etc.) Often we just watch kids during those meetings
Do others in now work at highered places that won't use Google Classroom?
Correct that's why is the answer!!! https://t.co/lJRIteFJdK
Except is restricted to Ss accounts. No way to share except to transfer it to new acct
A5 - I think high ed should be invited. We are guilty of forgetting to include them. Edcamps r great 4 inviting everyone!
What if we invite kids and ask them how they learn best and which they use and like too? https://t.co/vh0Bpd8CGh
What if we all do a in a student center or coffee shop on campus? Model real professional learning for new T's.
A6 I think they are turned off by less pedagogy based options. Make sure we offer relevant to them https://t.co/c5aHDmvaNS
Q6. How can we leverage to include K-16? What could we be doing differently so Higher Ed feels included?
A6: Starting w courageous conversations btw k12 & highered before creation of sessions https://t.co/ufyqUj3f85
Q6. How can we leverage to include K-16? What could we be doing differently so Higher Ed feels included?
need a fist bump!!! agreed! could probably whip one up!
a6 that is a great question. I am considering renting a van and dive them to an Edcamp
Out for the night. Excellent job with ! See you all soon. Great to meet you!!
Out for the night. Excellent job with ! See you all soon. Great to meet you!!
Agree, and more edcamps need to make concerted effort to get highered there
Genius We often forget to ask the Ss what their thoughts, feelings and fav tools 2 learn https://t.co/gSlupS7e3z

A6: Invite them through their students.
A6. Doing Twitter chats are a great starting point! This is my first and I love it. Bring the world together!
Thank you for coming!! https://t.co/OXDsih0nCx
Out for the night. Excellent job with ! See you all soon. Great to meet you!!
A5: anything that gives Ss a voice, inspires problem solving, and fosters creativity
A6: Invite them. Connect with your local University and College EDU programs.
A party bus sounds better https://t.co/bpe8n4Pu5P
a6 that is a great question. I am considering renting a van and dive them to an Edcamp
Glad. Often we're overlooked.
A6 maybe make higher Ed free so it feels more like public Ed? Just thinking out loud...
GN & Thanks for letting me hang with you tonight!! Let's change the world!
I feel like availability of tech is a setback 4 many.Even ONE iPad for T is a lot in some schools. https://t.co/lux3zjQnSu
still see tons that are just discovering plickers too, in Ed.D. prog& only req tech has been a PPT
Can't if we're watching the Ss. ....
A6: #1 demo bene for Ss in ind follow grad. Successful Ss fuel Profs.
#2 Cnvnce HighEd Adm of imp https://t.co/A3VGYNBCWT
Q6. How can we leverage to include K-16? What could we be doing differently so Higher Ed feels included?
A6: - experiences in the place of a class meeting would be a great chance to learn & connect w/others
Omg yes! We need a van! Ahh https://t.co/Xhz8lDKa1E
a6 that is a great question. I am considering renting a van and dive them to an Edcamp
A6: Esp important for 9-12 and higher Ed to have convos so they are properly preparing them
A6: Maybe we need to ask them what they need, what they want...and show them the avenues to get it.
I am working on the super ring for currently
thanks for being here Pete! Pleasure as always :)
A6: Invite them to participate! Open door policy.
A6: Get the pre-service Ts involved. Inspire them to run sessions, or even get your event hosted on a campus.
A5 I think any kind of tech that we use k12 can be used in higher hearing, just with different content, higher level
A6 Edcamps are amazing learning opportunities and it hasnt really hit Higher Ed yet. We need 2 educate them and invite them
Our 1st had a student teacher and 2 Ed professors because someone asked them to come! ASK
thanks Robert@hope to see you again soon
you did give me my 1st chopped liver & fresh prince...get jiggy w/it
A6: Just making sure higher Ed is aware and included in any local PD is a good first step!
these are higher Ed folks not the Gaggle party crowd
make it a wifi bus too and park it in areas that need wifi
Feel the Bern! ideals shared on ? I'll allow it 🤔 https://t.co/bhiWRzlN6e
A6 maybe make higher Ed free so it feels more like public Ed? Just thinking out loud...
Our Title 1 school is pretty lucky. Our adm is really bring Tech to the front line! Gr8ful#edtechafterdark
A6- they can show up and we can get our learn on. No special invite, those who seek will find https://t.co/jVGgxg56Zf
A6: We can also go and present at symposiums. Collaborate with our Ss teachers and practicum students
agreed! still a large gap w/ digital equity
for college professors??? They need to learn, grow, and connect too!
A6 it starts with an invite. Include more topics that interest and motivate them
I am a lot of people first something
Kids are kinda the reason we do what we do.. maybe we should at least check in with them :)
A6: start local, go global! Maybe get HigherEd school to host an !
wifi party bus to Edcamp it is
A6. what about focusing on tech with a wider application? Such as collaboration tools or something as simple as the cloud.
A6 Higher Ed/HS connection needs to happen outside of conference. Reach out. It's vertical planning. Make them want to come
Sounds good but isn't expensive?
There must be relationships between colleges and districts, we need to tap into it.
Haven't used it. Just "discovered" it
got that WiFi Bus plug in love it!
Just to put this out there I'm double dipping also teaching college this semester and Ss there need help with tech.
I like this idea. Broaden scope so as not to alienate.
Well you kept me up late again! Thankfully I don't have school tomorrow so I'm not mad at ya https://t.co/9ssnh2QHxJ
I have the ring designed. But working on gem print to fit
Completely agree Unfortunately some Ts forget that along the way and need 2 be reminded! https://t.co/nT9ValAckj
Kids are kinda the reason we do what we do.. maybe we should at least check in with them :)

Events on college campuses are one good way to connect highered & K-12 as well as community
Higher Ed Ss deserve quality Ts
We also have an AWESOME tech person at our title1 school.
Thanks for a great chat. Stay connected, learn & share!
which Edcamp are we taking this bus to?
A6.) I find higher Ed instructors feel overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. Hard to apply focused tech.
Host EdCamp on univ campus - why not?! Isn't there one on teh horizon?
Yes!If local schools are 1:1 or tech rich why aren't Higher Ed Ss being taught in that environment https://t.co/2zPPur5oEH
There must be relationships between colleges and districts, we need to tap into it.
Something like a Parent University...reaching out further, not ending at 12.
agreed! see colleges w/dual enrollment but it's not 2way communication for course development, sld wk in tandem
and, you are all celebs in the world!
As a K12 educator, attend a higher ed conference, submit a proposal to present It's worked for me over the last 4 years
Seems to be. Looking at it now.
is now trending in USA, ranking 27
Is or will be a weekly chat?
Haven't used it. Just learning about it now.
Our Ss know more than we give them credit. https://t.co/2N4SQBZH5i

HUGE shout out to the amazing for moderating for 2nite! What an honor!
that's why transition programs that bridge k-12 to though meaningful experiences are so imp.
we do that and they still don't come. K-12 carry our edcamps
Yes, they've almost been finalized. Can't wait to show you all! https://t.co/qLxsdW3uHP
