#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.
Box on! Try and get 8 hours sleep one day this week. It's a great profession and worth the work! We make a difference to young peoples lives every day! #aussieED
I agree. Personally I do not use them; however, I know of many teachers who have copies of multiple to provide inspiration and ways of presenting material. This is why I said if they are useful, use them. I find there are many ways to find this inspiration though. #aussieED
A8: I'll go with:
No matter how much you think you know about your subject, your students or teaching in geneal, there will always be plenty more to learn. #aussieED
A8: Not mine but still great. "If your're not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original" Ken Robinson - "People don't buy what you do, they buy WHY you do it" - Simon Sinek Take daily with water and contact your Dr if motivation doesnt improve #aussieed
A7 - Engage for 5 to 10 minutes, 2 or 3 times a week. Don't just elegantly lurk! Contribute, consider, respond and discuss. Most importantly, share your thinking and actions which make a difference to the students of today, the future of tomorrow. . #aussieed
Be authentic, reach for the stars, take risks, be yourself, ask the students about how they want to learn, get them outside, teach yoga and art, find the fun in every day in everyday and celebrate the growth in each child with those precious conversations. #aussieED
A6 Speak to people like you would face to face, how comfortable would you feel randomly walking up to someone and calling them edutwitterati? Or edurockstar know it all? Or literally ignore them when they ask you a Q? Sadly, mean girls exist too often on here #aussieED
A5: itās the same the world round! Many western societies have this issue, and itās sometimes worse for #arts#music#drama and #physed teachers! Tired of always defending what I do #aussieED
A8: Somewhere out there, a student thinks you are awesome. The best teacher they have ever had. Youāve worked hard this year. Now relax, enjoy your break and renew for next year. We need you at your best! Thank you! #aussieED
A8. Humans have made many mistakes&our planet is suffering. As we are only part of our planet we as educators of humans need most 2deconstruct where we went wrong&make changes! This will not b done by doing the same as what we have always done! Happy 2019 BE THE CHANGE! #aussieED
A3 #aussieED they are supplements at best now, especially in social studies and science. I think Time is better spent teaching students how to inquire and cultivate knowledge at their place and pace in ways that are safe and secure.
Thank you for choosing to be an educator! You matter and make a difference every day. May your curiosity and passion always be ignited and may you rest and recover over the break ready to have an AWE-SOME 2019! #aussieED
My boss told me to not check emails, as though all those emails would just disappear. I donāt have the time to deal with them all just in work hours. #aussieED

What a great discussion tonight.
Hopefully we all had some courteous controversy in our comments.
Have a great festive period, and for those who think that was too PC, have a great pagan yule... (predates Christianity @ESIaustralia ) #AussieEd@MRsalakas
I missed the beginning but with the last part in mind - I'm grateful for these amazing, inspiring questions - made me thinking and reflecting. Thanks @MRsalakas Thanks #aussieED
A8: T H A N K Y O U to every teacher, from early childhood, primary, high school, VET and university #AussieED Weāre here for a reason - an important one. Do you thing and do it well and weāll all be better off, now and in the future
A8 - if you're one of the lucky lot in Catholic Ed in SA - 5 DAYS TO GO!!! šš„³š
DfE - Only 10 more! WOOHOO!!! šš„³š
You deserve the well-earned break everyone!
#AussieEd#TeacherLife
I know it's hard... I just want to be a good Dad. If i'm constantly on the phone I'm not present. I want to give as much to my family as i give to Teaching #aussieED

A8 - "Schools of the Past and the Present devote 99.9% of the curriculum to asking kids to know stuff and to develop skills. The School of the Future will devote a significant chunk of the curriculum to asking kids to know themselves." - https://t.co/uGzzEVZHTf#aussieed
A3:- #AussieED Text books are just a tool for getting information. Now there are many other sources of information and more easy to access provided the teacher provided the structure around the learning and discernment.
I probably shouldn't tweet all my music/sport/family stuff on my account, but I can't be bothered managing multiple accounts (had to earlier in the year for a particular reason, and it was a real pain). #aussieED
A6: Twitter has changed me as a technology coach and it became a place where I can find answers to most of the questions I have. It is a place to go for finding resources and asking questions. I love it. It is #1 PLC for me #aussieEd#AfricaEd
Just like with students, the āotherā stuff makes you who you are. I canāt separate teaching and other aspects, and I donāt when I teach. #aussieED

Iāve found it really hard, but Iāve set myself some limits. No work emails after 5 and I can check @Seesaw if I have a notification after this time, but not reply #aussieED

I know. I wouldāve missed training earlier this year if I wasnāt in the habit of checking my emails while drinking my coffee in the morning š¤ #AussieED

I was recently told you donāt have kids, you have time for twitter... š I was like no, I love learning & make time for that when it suits me... I give up now, some think itās SM like Snapchat šš»āāļø Iām thankful for my #AussieED tweeps every day! I wld have left teaching years ago
āWhat we need, Dr Donnelly said, is a return to 1950s Australia, where things were less complicated and children were happierā....... actual footage of him trying to do this.....#AussieED
A8:- #AussieED enjoy your break , read some fiction and non-fiction, reconnect with family and friends and get outside with some sun ( with sun cream) on your back and face while walking, running, riding or swimming.
Iāve had bad experiences with tchrs doing this & donāt think all Ss can make an informed opinion, between mainstream news & the dumb telegraph - weāre making an impression on them. Iāll never forget how a tchr expressed her dislike for āarabsā after 9/11 in my class #aussieED
Thatās an interesting perspective and Iād say context is everything. I wonder if political and religious debates are more personal than say, environmental ones? A student asked me about gay marriage & I refrained from sharing my opinion with them, I wasnāt comfortable #aussieED
Okay so @HarveyNormanAU just ran a back to school ad before the previous school year had ended! Itās @JBHiFi for me from now on! š¤·āāļø#AussieEd
Same situation here. My Twitter account is mostly professional, but I retweet or like what matters to me, which is not necessarily work related #aussieED

I just avoid them now, I focus my energy on the ones showing up, stepping up & seeking to learn & grow. I couldnāt keep the candle burning šÆ #aussieED
I have a second account (actually my first account) where I do fun things like live tweet Survivor šš because no one in my professional life needs to know the true depths of my nerdiness. But I use this one more now for day to day life stuff as well as teaching #aussieED

When talking to others about #edutwitter, I have learnt to not sound like an overzealous religious proselytiser. The joys and benefits of an online #PLN are there for those who are open-minded and willing to have a go. #AussieEd
Little if any. Most are outdated before printed and the web provides many more varied views to critique and it allows Ss to develop research skills if done well. #AussieEd
