A2: tech helps them become global citizens and have their voice heard
A2 Implementation of 1:1 program to help students meet the demands of a changing world

A2 Tech supports the ability to connect globally, provides a vehicle for personalized learning & means for creative Ss creation
We allow creation, makerspaces, opportunities to collaborate, PBL units
create QR codes 2 extend classroom learning. 2nd gr put QRs up on a bulletin board. Ss take ipads 2 hallway 4 extension.
Bam! Love this. Well said! https://t.co/vNit86CNiY
A2 Showing Ss power of producing/creating content for audience that extends beyond 4 walls of classroom!
There is a SITH among us and it's selling test and curriculum.
Wandering in late!
4th grade teacher in CA
It's so weird being in the non-hawaii time zone for.
Whether or not tech supports a mission depends on how it’s used, not the tech itself.
A2: Our school is on its way to being 1:1 across grades K-5. Innovating
A2 - 1:1 MacBook Airs 7-12, iPad 3-6, iMac / MacBook k-2
I love to hear this!!!! What are ways they are best shared you think, Pam?

A2 Focusing on blended learning helps meet our vision and purpose Collaboration global perspectives learning opportunities etc.
A2: PBL with global audiences support 4C's and
Great idea to get more students and parents involved.
who is selling test curriculum? Umm. Last time I checked I didn't have any tests in my class
A2: Starts with a stable network. Then, freedom for Ts & Ss to choose tools & devices that serve learning.
We will catch you up, Alex :)
A2 Providing tech devices while our Ts provide guidance & encouragement to create new Qs, not just reciting rote answers.
A2: our school mission revolves around making Ss better people. If tech isn't serving this mission it's merely bells & whistles.
Jumping in a little late! Melanie from Montana...
Yes! We need to make sure we are extended the learning beyond our 4 classroom walls!
A2: Sometimes we seem to be "there" but honestly we are a work in progress.
This allows whole grade level to have same extensions. Less work for all Ts & cross-classroom collab.
like that you use BYOD with the students kindergarten students
A2. I don't think that we have a single solution; we have multiple "environments" to make it accessible for diff lrning styles.
A2 as a tech-rich school we are using tech to influence all aspects of learning and preparing Ss to be influencers of the world
This is so important. Sometimes technology can be distracting if not used properly!
A2: Judgement-Free Zone: let teachers experiment with tech without fear of failure
A2)we use Google drive, classroom, some Ts use different apps padlet, Twitter, qr codes
A2) Our tech plan provides for tech within the classroom including laptop and chromebook carts, and iPad cart, and a lab.
Not enough to just place tech in the hands of Ts, must also support with training and assistance in implementation.
A1:AHS a L'ing community inspires all Ss 2pursue dreams, becoming lifelong learners & responsible citizens in a global society.
I think this is such an important point, Nguyen! A solid foundation is needed for sure! Then build, build, build!
Sharing the content they create allows for collaboration on a larger scale too. Learning without boundaries!
Do you have any strategies that have worked to build this capacity?
Exactly! Learning should be transparent and empowering!
My Ss are starting to look at augmented reality in the same way w/ display boards.
HOW COOL is this! Love it! I would love to see pics, Christy! https://t.co/EUHTMwcfLQ
A2: We also have a twitter feed on a screen at the front door & in library of our school hashtag
. With great Tech.. uh power comes great responsibility.
A2) Part of our school's mission is to utilize technology to provide multiple learning approaches.
True! Distracting and detrimental to learning!
Start with the pedagogy and only integrate the tech when it applies. No square pegs in round holes.
PD.... Remember differentiation of PD
Would LOVE to see the Twitter feed! So, so awesome!
That is one beautiful mission indeed!
A2. We had a focus group recently develop a tech vision. We are at the beginning stages of aligning systems.
A2: We r 1:1 for all 2000+ Ss & have maker spaces, 3D printers, Recording Studio in Media Ctr,
In chats that go so fast ... it would be if the Qs stood out more.
Chromebooks for Ss to take home. 100% digital.
This is amazing! Stealing this idea!
Q3 coming up in 1 minute…
Sherra, counselor from Aldine ISD, Houston, TX checking in!
That is Awesome... now if we only had access to Twitter. . https://t.co/5oRaymQxDJ
HOW COOL is this! Love it! I would love to see pics, Christy! https://t.co/EUHTMwcfLQ
A2: We also have a twitter feed on a screen at the front door & in library of our school hashtag
In my class, Ss set goals through conferencing. They have a voice in what they learn and how they will show it.
Excellent!!!
I'm always reminding them that it is pretty hard to break it. https://t.co/yniedOZdsr
A2: Judgement-Free Zone: let teachers experiment with tech without fear of failure
Should always be a work in progress... really thinking of how students are using the tech https://t.co/deiitquKgB
A2: Sometimes we seem to be "there" but honestly we are a work in progress.
Playful exploration balanced with academic rigor are components of our mission that connect w/ 1:1. 4Cs & documentation!
We have a set of 4 screens in our cafeteria. They run our social media. Students love seeing their pics.
You get used 2 it after a while. Ask if u get lost, we'll help.
A2: GAFE district, PD provided for teachers, almost 1-1, k-4 academic tech specialist to assist.
Like it!
https://t.co/N0XnqIMKEx
We have a set of 4 screens in our cafeteria. They run our social media. Students love seeing their pics.
It's been at least 3 months since I blogged but this has helped to remind me why I started! https://t.co/qr3grSTHgv
We are living our lives in BETA as a school. Always recreating who things don't work. https://t.co/a9iR2P4FZ4
Should always be a work in progress... really thinking of how students are using the tech https://t.co/deiitquKgB
A2: Sometimes we seem to be "there" but honestly we are a work in progress.
A3: Tech can support a mission but must be learning focused. Lead w/learning, never w/novelty of new tech tools.
A3 Technology should be used to help enhance the mission of education.
Hi Sherra!!! Welcome! Jump right in for Q3! So happy you are here! :)
as well as Ts&Ps. We need to model for them and learn with them.
Q4 why is Sharon's name first on the book?
A3 For technology not to be seen as an extra thing to do, but part of teaching.
mentions in that if you're doing it right, you will never "arrive". https://t.co/gu5hrST26f
A2: Sometimes we seem to be "there" but honestly we are a work in progress.
Yeah - I'm a big fan of multiple interactive representations and the movement towards active learning.
We have ours displayed in the classroom. Ss love to see their work and what others classes are learning.
A3 Students are our mission. Focus on students. Integrate tech to empower students & Ts will naturally meet their mission.
A3 Tech allows us to collaborate, stay connected, gather resources and exchange ideas or larger scale than without tech.
A3: Technology allows ss to be global learners and collaborate with others. Helps ss become leaders and share their voices
A2: continued- we also have school Twitter feeds, school Google hangouts to learn, district Facebook.
"Playful exploration!" This is so refreshing!
A3: Educators must ask themselves how can tech enhance or help me fulfill my mission.
A3 Tech does not drive the mission. Ts must be mission driven, and use tech as tool
A3: Tech can support mission when it is seamless and more than a tool, it is an agent for change.
A3 if mission is S centered (as it should be) then all aspects of school i.e. tech should represent that https://t.co/L8XnVFlEUv
Tech can only be best supported with Tech Pd and time for tchrs to play. Let's give Tchrs some baby steps
Tech can provide Ts access to the tools they need to pursue their own learning as a means for better themselves and in turn Ss
A3: it becomes a part of how we create life lingers and universal access
A3: It's amazing how sthg as simple as a hashtag can weave a common thread thru school social media dialogue!
A3 Tech can help Ts stay connected & collaborate. Diigo to share materials, Twitter to learn from , focused on mission.
A3: I look forward to a time where tech is ubiquitous. Good pedagogy trumps good tech every time
A3) Teachers need to be mindful and accountable for how tech is used with students. Have them create and share.
A3: Connecting tech to our mission helps community and board members know what we are doing is important and makes a difference
A3. Tech allows creativity to seep back into the classroom. fresh breath to those worn out Ts that are tired of scripted EDU
This is just so fantastic!
A3: Ultimately its about the culture&climate the leader creates with his Ts&Ss. Promote risk taking lessons and support them
It shows that tech serves a purpose.
https://t.co/JWYwN6i9nL
A3: Connecting tech to our mission helps community and board members know what we are doing is important and makes a difference
Tech should be like air - Invisible, abundant, always present. https://t.co/IG6BnnQTVx
A3: I look forward to a time where tech is ubiquitous. Good pedagogy trumps good tech every time
A3: Technology is the 21st tool to not only be integrated in the learning, but in the district mission as well 😊
A3 Leverage existing content and capabilities to reduce your workload.
A3) Mission has to have room for tech. It should be a part of the plan and the mission to move forward and embrace what's ahead.
A3 Tech allows me to collaborate with teachers across grades/content areas
Educators can leverage tech to redefine learning experiences, experiences that wouldn’t be possible w/o the tech itself.
I rarely get to join - it's 10am on Tuesday here. On holidays this week. Maybe timing? is on now too
Thank goodness is in the other bed helping me with my first tweet chat.
A3: Just like this...Tech used for PD. Twitter chats, webinars, global learning.
A3 tech can help Ts reach Ss on their level in & out of school setting. Most missions state something like "lifelong learners".
A2: Our district works w/ 2empower our educators 2utilize technology 2meet the various ways Ss
A3 tech is the vehicle to get students access and build independence and networks for life long learning
A3:Tech plays a role, but admin must be willing to support, serve&help transform the school, instead of just telling Ts to change
A3: when the technology is making the lesson better, not just to use the tech. I like the global connections Ss can make.
A3 Provide Ts with PD, safety nets (aka techs) as well as "You won't be judged if you fail - just try" & "baby steps are ok"
Screenshot of this tweet! YES!!!
Well said! Tech isn't a separate from learning. Enhances and give Ss new opportunities for growth.
A3 Build a support and learning network. Keep in touch with them, & leverage their collective wisdom, knowledge, and experience.
A3 Tech assists with student engagement if integrated into the curriculum well
A3: We should always ask, "What do we want to accomplish?" first and then find the right tool for the job.
A3: if you start w "why"and let Edtech be the vehicle for your "how" Edtech energizes your mission https://t.co/nzp226Ec1n
A3: If tchrs use tech at the instructional level it should align to the school's mission and vision for preparing Ss
A3: The Internet has no walls. Web-based communication and collaboration gives a clearer view into classrooms, colleagues
. This wins the internets
So awesome! Very happy you are here to share your voice, Melissa!
A3: Allows for personal representations of learning & growth. A window to what is possible for all.
A3: by listening and allowing our educators to choose the technology that best fit their instruction.
A3: used to think tech was to supplement only, but SAMR proves that tech creates lessons otherwise non-existent.
A3-- also allows for ease of like never before. Instant/frequent connection is awesome!
I think the tech is one piece... Going 1:1 win solve everything
A3 our school is running a class w marketing, engineering, and webdesign blended. Paddle boards! https://t.co/ws7DVygxyA
A3b- I think your tech edus should have a mission but it should just be a support of the overall school mission not drive it
A3: technology helps support student learning and district missions
A3 Utilize tech to make learning better, smoother, differentiated, visual, etc...support our current goals.
Such a good point. Tech must work best for the user and the lesson.
Precisely. The technology needs to have a meaningful purpose.
. Why I love a good game where the kids choose the tech that's needed w/out being told.
Q3) There is no miracle to technology ... it is simply an ongoing iteration of seeking to extend our human toolkit.
It's easier to transform when teacher leaders are helping to lead the charge instead of admin directive. https://t.co/RrP4nl9N53
A3:Tech plays a role, but admin must be willing to support, serve&help transform the school, instead of just telling Ts to change
A3:STEAM,STEM should NOT have to be said,as it should already be a belief in all courses in 2016&remove the term:"21st century"
I think authentic learning experiences w/ tech are often times more important than those that are “redefined.”
And does all that. Glenn is an exceptional leader giving his staff space to innovate
Love this... Human toolkit https://t.co/19Hf676Bew
Q3) There is no miracle to technology ... it is simply an ongoing iteration of seeking to extend our human toolkit.
So glad you brought up this point, Ryan. Yes. Purpose driven tech!
A3: We shud & R always growing/evolving. Currently working on running wire to go 1:1 Internet Access 4 all Ss at home.
A3: Tech serves many purposes in achieving a vision- including providing teachers with a way to connect students with others.
Alright, ducking out to get some blogging done. Have a good night everyone. , see you Saturday!
A3 when the Ts are empowered to use technology that works for their classes and not the entire campus https://t.co/4aUtrY3umY
Q4 coming up in 1 minute! is ROCKING it tonight!
A Question for y'all... think there will ever be a day when it will simply be "education" and not specifically "tech education"?
It is so interesting to me that everyone is in different places, but we all have the same goal. How can we fail?
Yes!! If Ts can see the benefit from those in the "trenches" alongside them, more likely to adopt ideas https://t.co/CLyXGifI8N
It's easier to transform when teacher leaders are helping to lead the charge instead of admin directive. https://t.co/RrP4nl9N53
A3:Tech plays a role, but admin must be willing to support, serve&help transform the school, instead of just telling Ts to change
A3 tech is a means to extend sharing. Tech isn't always the right tool. Allow students to choose https://t.co/3bKfBaaoeo
. must use technology to meet schools goals not jsut to say im using technology.
Dan from FL joining late!
Each SS group produces a board then auctions at community event. Totally real!
A3 supports Ts and Ss, use tech to enhance learning, for benefits, connect & collab, use to learn more
OOOOHHHH! I love this collaboration station! AMAZING!!!!
Repeating this but holds true here! "Tech should be like air - Invisible, abundant, always present." https://t.co/dbmvjPftT6
A Question for y'all... think there will ever be a day when it will simply be "education" and not specifically "tech education"?
Anyone help with this? I see high rated tools, but never used 'em https://t.co/q28cc8MVsf
Help! What do you all use for recording audio/voice on a Dell Chromebook?
truth! I'd like to see schools actually do it, instead of saying it!
build the tech into the schools CEP.
BOOM...THIS https://t.co/Mi1UKMcIMu
Q3) There is no miracle to technology ... it is simply an ongoing iteration of seeking to extend our human toolkit.
A3: Tech naturally flips the lesson. U give the answer, and tell the kids, find how we got to this conclusion, aaannnd GO!
Honestly, when Ss know why and have choice in how they get there age doesn't matter. Find their passion.
Together we can do it! https://t.co/OY3Vc1ALV0
It is so interesting to me that everyone is in different places, but we all have the same goal. How can we fail?
Agree totally, giving them options, show what they know in their way
I do but I think there will always be new tech to be curated to see if there is academic value to it
That is fantastic. We're making room in our schedule next yr for PBL ops. Might have to borrow this!
Like how people talked about "doing tech" for years while few actually integrated. Why does this have to be separate
That's great. Student voice is so important to the learning process. Setting goals empowers, too.
