Q3: What are your checks within your defense? Check out of a blitz against empty? Certain formations you automatically want to have checks for? #425chat
A1 we drop are more athletic inside linebacker back at safety level to give us the two high safety look and play cover 4. Other inside linebacker patrols the middle hole and reads for any run #425chat
We go into the week with a base coverage we feel is best but always have built in checks against certain formations we see on film study. For example we might check into something against a 2x2 or 3x1. Again depends on the offense’s favorite plays/formations. #425chat
A1: We only saw empty once this year and it was 4x1. They always rolled to the quad side. We manned the backside, shifted our safeties, blitzed the overhang, and sprinted our Mike to the flat. Our Mike picked a pass and they never got back into it. #425chat
A1 - my first year as DC we played regular Solo Qtrs vs Empty b/f we installed Special. It was a little scary because our Will LB was man vs their Slot WR (see pic). I like Special to the Read Side vs Empty and then play 2 Read or whatever we need to on the Away Side

We will BTF (Blitz the Formation) or BTB (Blitz the Backfield) based on scouting report/tendencies/protections/etc. In our quarterfinal game this year we had an auto check that gave us an overloaded pressure, double edge, or double A-Gap based on backfield set. #425Chat
My bad... Late to the party! Hopefully I made it in before the cover charge hours!

Happy to be here! I'll be in the back listening, taking notes! Carry on!

A3:This season our secondary checked into coverages based on the looks they got. I was fortunate enough to have a senior safety that was like having a coach on the field that made 80% of our coverage calls. #425chat
#425chat A1) to the trips we play corner ( X out theory) lock 1, safety and N play 2 read on new #2 l. Backside plays 2 read. It’s good for putting best athletes against their best athletes, especially deep threats. Also, still have 6 in box. Multiple ways to play it for sure
A2 - can't think of a favorite check, it really depends on the opponent. It could be a Field blitz to the side they like to Sprint-Out to w/ ball on the hash. Safeties must be able to check and get us into the right coverage when they move their best WR around. #425chat
A3: We check in or out of any call based on opponent scout. Empty, 12P ACE, 3 Backs, etc are all autos for us. Stacks, bunches, snugs, etc will have coverage adjustments. Ex: 3 ways to play bunch (zone, man, pressure). Coach speak but depends on what the O presents. #425Chat
Q1: I haven't run it as a coach but I like it- Tampa 2 coverage with the free safety playing the Tampa dropper/deep middle/alley defender, widening out the strong and weak safeties and playing them outside 1/3. Corner force #425chat
A2: There were a couple teams this year that we got really solid tendencies from teams out of certain formations. We would have auto blitzes in those situations. #425chat
A4 against 3x1 we will use quarters concept on the trips side and either go man or cover 2 on the backside depending on what the other team is trying to do. I like creating the 4 on three (Safety & Corner in 1/4, SOLB in flats, PILB looking in the hooks2curls #425chat
We had 2 checks. 1st check was heat. Which is man coverage with a 6 man front. 2 guys line up on both tackles and center. Whichever one is blocked drops and the other keeps rushing. One guys is always free. And our second check was basecover 4. Rush 3 and drop 8. #425chat

A4: Best checks for us are our base checks. Our design is to get at least 1 extra hat in the box vs every set. We feel like our base checks help us get that accomplished. 2 backs, FIB, Empty, Motion, Unbalanced all have autos. #425Chat
A2)
LOVE Cov 3 v trips (like to bring pressure away from formation w/ whip-WS). It's our bread and butter, kids are super comfortable and confident in it!
#425chat
A3: Only checks we have is against empty as stated or if a team were to jump into a DBL tight formation. We would check out of blitz called against empty then make a kill it (blitz) or cover it call from sideline. Blitz involves one player and doesn't change coverage. #425chat

A3)
• Empty- the check is typically Cov (but game plan dependent)
• Have an alignment auto v trips, just give the offense a tough number count
• other checks are typically gameplan/opponent tendency dependent

A4 other things we see a lot of is teams running 2 TE and 3 Back sets and spread with the same personnel. We have a couple options with fronts as we cannot change personnel. 'Heavy' w/ cover 2 roam (safety playing run) and moving are safety up to the line to crawl 52look #425chat
No, thank goodness, they had their RB in the Slot who was pretty fast and not a good match-up. I had a midget out there, about 5'4" with average speed. Luckily they didn't throw that way but I was pretty scared.

ALL OF THEM!!!
Lol, just kidding! But usually, we are checking into something our kids do really well and are really confident playing! Less thinking equals higher success rate!
#425chat
A1: Split Field Pattern Match to both sides...kids simply see it as Trips on one side n Twins on the other...we will check the front to Empty more often than the coverage in an attempt to gain apex players on both sides of the field to provide help in coverage #425Chat
Stay +1 in the box and 2 read away from the back. To the back, olb defends against bubble/now screen, free defends against any pop or snag route, corner plays MOD on 1 #425chat
Yes, sir. 2 backs is almost always going to get a safety walked down or a hard corner. 6 man box, unless we can get to a 7 man box, unless we can get to a 8 man box, robber and get into a 9! #425chat
A3: Only check we carry out from Day 1 is set the front away from a true Trips set...gets LB closer to 3WR surface to provide help in coverage #425Chat
Vs two back in quarters the weak safety will give a "sky" call to the corner (who will play MOD on 1) and then an "I'm here" call to the lbs as he walks up into the box. Will either run 2 read or robber to the strength #425chat
