Hi All! Laurie, 3rd grade in San Marcos.
Hi Lisa! Great to see you, and the night before going back!
Hi! Christina, 2nd grade teacher from Palms Springs Unified. First time on chat.
Hello. I relocated here. Now I need a teaching job. I also EduConsult. And I'm an Artist.
And😳🕌Scholar. There's more...
But Hi.
Q1: Curating for Ts is more than just collecting resources. What does it mean to you?
Doug, 5th, Oregon, bombastic rock star front man of a never ending education funk machine (very near autocarrot tragedy just then)
Yup, super excited about what we'll be doing!
Fingers flexed, tea cooling off, music in background, my Tweeps are here...yeah I think I'm ready!
A1: Organizing & saving resources to be shared, found & used when you need them! Finding ideas to modify for innovation!
Elem principal from Lincoln, Nebraska here! Thanks for letting me crash!
A1: See I thought it was just about collecting resources. Learned something already
Hello all, Kyle from SoCal checking in for awhile. Trying to pull in for one of these
A1- Curation is selecting resources, organizing them in a way that makes sense for future use & making sure others have access
A1 Curating is finding the diamonds in the many many many notes and lists from ideas and searches. Abs organizing them
A1: Curating resources is a currency of info and getting better together, they pave the way to make us better together
Kris from So Cal, Dir of Ed Tech.
I like "Making sure others have access" part!
April from San Diego checking in late!
Hi!HS Spanish teacher from Oxnard, CA. Definition of curating?
A1 collecting depends on experience/yrs. curation is finding new ideas/methods/innovative tools for novelty learning by Ss
A1: Curating is about vetting the vast quantity of material that comes our way, only keeping what we think is best for students.
Thanks- What good is it if only I use it???
Hi ! Shannon from Oakland!
A1: curating starts with the end in mind, flexible and open to new ideas.
Yes, I would add, sharing to list, and this says it well. https://t.co/NBit0D0gPA
A1- Curation is selecting resources, organizing them in a way that makes sense for future use & making sure others have access
A1: Collaboration, instructional best practices, meaningful resources that are available at the opportune time
A1: Curation is organizing resources, creating experiences, and building on ideas
A1: I guess if you curate well it means you can find the thing again when you need it. I compensate by having great search skills
I agree! More students benefit when we share!
A1: Finding and sharing resources with colleagues. I also find that it's a great way to make new connections w/other educators.
A1: Curating means not only collecting but promoting and sharing the resources so Ts know how to access
A1: Curating is just 1 step of the process. IMO it also involves sharing w/others & designing the end user experience/interaction
Ss centered (and T centered in some ways) is also important (:
A1: I tend to hoard, but am getting better at finding the gems, and sharing
A1: Curation of resources means collecting, sharing, AND evaluating...most importantly vetting it for MY students!
A1+: Especially with so much sharing online, we can't possibly collect /everything/. For better or worse, we need a filter.
A1: Curating includes cultivating, collaborating and finding ways to share back out again.
A1:IMHO Curating must include: examining, reflecting, vetting and organizing It is different than brainstorming or idea sharing
I like the addition of a "filter" idea, makes it better, especially if it comes from trusted sources
A1: Besides collecting resources, to me, it also means developing connections with others that can improve ur teaching & learning
A1: Ditto ;) https://t.co/jaJqgGLRj6
A1- Curation is selecting resources, organizing them in a way that makes sense for future use & making sure others have access
Yes!! backwards mapping https://t.co/F5L5IpG49Z
A1: curating starts with the end in mind, flexible and open to new ideas.
A1 Curating is step 1 in my inquiry process, next step synthesis & determining what is relevant for my Ss.
A1: Anyone outsourced their curation? Getting students or colleagues to share some of the load.
A1: one also has to consider the sources of curated content & intentions for sharing. Will Ss consume or will it drive inquiry?
A1 it means to organise and separate The grain from The chaff
A1: As an instructional coach, curating is about building community and actively seeking new perspectives.
You’ve been sharing w/ me for the last few years! Most recently at Google Apps https://t.co/KrKqHJykAl
A1: I tend to hoard, but am getting better at finding the gems, and sharing
A1) Curating also involves using the resources collectively to present several angles of information & then sharing w Ts
I like that you mention vetting, not just collecting everything https://t.co/hFdjAfj9CM
A1: Curating is about vetting the vast quantity of material that comes our way, only keeping what we think is best for students.
A1: Curating Resources:🗃🗄🗂📁
A1: It isn't just about collecting ideas & resources but also figuring out how & when to use them & then sharing them with others
I agree! When I supported a group of coaches I took that role seriously! https://t.co/vMHUrAHaQX
A1: As an instructional coach, curating is about building community and actively seeking new perspectives.
A1: Curating -seeing value in resources and sharing w/ others. Collecting -gathering more &more stuff, not organized or priority
I wonder if you would need to know where you going first? If you don't know what's out there...then what might be?
We've just started an online "collective" so Ts can share their lessons and resources.
Kris we need that here so much at Bonita High
maybe "better"; definitely "tried and tested". There is will always be "THE NEXT BEST THING THAT'LL SAVE EDUCATION"
Curating people!I like it
AGREE. The concept of vetting resources is crucial.
Still working to get it off the ground, but it's a start!
A1 current project is to curate resources for 5 tools for critical thinking and share with others https://t.co/1FAYIAHDXw
I said the same thing using emojis.
LOL, yeah, and those variety of mindsets too. Adds importance to good def for curating resources
We have the standards to guide us, but we should be creating meaningful experiences. I usually start w a crazy idea
Spent 6 hrs this weekend helping a longtime colleague clean his classroom of 30 years of collecting!!! Definitely not curating!
A1a Once upon a time I thought curation meant finding something and then holding it close.
-----------------> Q2 is up next. Watch for
and vetting is certainly subjective, which is what makes it so great. Personalized curation is key.
Not totally on topic, but does anyone else feel overwhelmed by the amount of great resources out there? Like, permanent FOMO?
keep an eye out for the initiative. This will be a be part of moving forward
A1: Curation: collection with a purpose, theme, thread, motif, vision.
This is why we need vetting tactics and curation tools! https://t.co/q9Cv8oEvVg
Not totally on topic, but does anyone else feel overwhelmed by the amount of great resources out there? Like, permanent FOMO?
I totally agree, I'm just thinking, sometimes, I don't even know what's there, I know where I want to go...
I am dreading this day for myself. No one thinks my junk is useful until they need it. https://t.co/xyhpM2vlc3
Spent 6 hrs this weekend helping a longtime colleague clean his classroom of 30 years of collecting!!! Definitely not curating!
Q2: Other than lesson plan ideas, what else do you search for to help your profession as a T?
totally on topic, and YES. Always. It's important to be OK with not knowing everything about everything. https://t.co/dcocayIEqK
Not totally on topic, but does anyone else feel overwhelmed by the amount of great resources out there? Like, permanent FOMO?
Happy to say our district has already signed on! Hooray for :-)
Yes! Give some, get some, we get better together!
Hey, no fair literally defining it when they ask for a definition
We also need to get more BUSD teachers/staff/admin in these chats. It's nice to see another colleague here tonight :)
A1b These days methinks curation is more like passing information along..
I did too; that's being a collector, and not a museum curator
A1: should Ts be the only ones curating? Why not have Ss curate and share with other Ss. HOTS to curate effectively.
OMG yes! Sometimes it's just so much information that I get overwhelmed and don't know what to do with it all
A2: As an English teacher I am always collecting text examples and articles to use with students.
Also I feel I need a personal secretary. And nanny. And cook. And housecleaner...:)
A1 A new way to deliver content new to you & Ss & provides lasting impression on T as well Ss, something new to replace the old
lol, that's me most of the time. I dive in and sort thru looking for what I feel is the best
A2: Resources on new techniques, ways to help Ss connect & share globally, evidence of student learning
That usually happens, then I use Twitter to filter ideas, the power of many (:
How are you storing/collecting? https://t.co/vjpb2zELaW
We've just started an online "collective" so Ts can share their lessons and resources.
A2: Always looking for current, relevant informational texts to help students connect to the real world
LOL, yeah, then looking around, asking Tweeps, then putting personal spin on it (:
agreed it has been awhile for me, but always energizes next steps.
Agreed. Especially if you get to teach the same grade level. Each year, you can build on prior experience.
A2: We don't just want your lesson plans, we want to know /how/ you taught it. For math, here are 240:
https://t.co/AKfQ4MXu9f
I hear you, there is a definite point at which collecting becomes hoarding not curating if we are not careful
Collecting through a Google form. Will be turning into a searchable database on our district tech website
Thanks, I think I'll use this in my first blog post sharing some curated resources https://t.co/Sp8pAIgfNW
A1: Curation: collection with a purpose, theme, thread, motif, vision.
yes, problem is, I get bored and switch it up every few years... lol
A1: Curating is about organizg, reflectg, knowg when to use resources, & knowg what resources are beneficial 4 Ss & other Ts.
Saving for after chat! Thanks!
A2: Instructional strategies, exemplar student work, real world connections, tech integration strategies
A2: I search for philosophical underpinnings of educational practice, succinctly stated. Also inspired concepts
A2: My classroom blog is a searchable collection of all my lessons. I copy from myself all the time. https://t.co/BmgRhCbOgH
I enjoyed sharing with Ss
A2 Cast a wide net. Have alerts out for rsrch intrsts. HQ stuff floods my email box, no time to read it all.
A2: Vehicles for content delivery: Literacy, conversation starters, ways to embed metacognitive skills, etc.
A2: decorating ideas, new tech, wisdom
A2 The new tendancy, stuff that helps me to understand Better The kids culture. Also ressources to put some new goals as teacher
A2 New ways to reach the kids. Voices, experiences, and variety. Stuff I would never think of. Cast a wide net
A2:List Servs: Contacts: Twitter PLN: developing relationships with folks who know lots more than me is essential to my growth
A2) Twitter Chats help for sure! As a Hist. T I'm always looking to make content relatable & use analogies that fit the students
you know how I go to lots of ? Hitchhiker seeds..
Hey ! Amanda, Math/Tech TOSA in Campbell... Checking in late
A2: understand future careers for Ss. Working at one company for 35 years & retiring is no longer the norm https://t.co/4RbYunDglu
Q2: Other than LP ideas, I search for new ways to engage my students in learning and collaborating using technology.
a2. Brain research is always awesome to collect.
A2: Aside from what I already mentioned, I also search for ways to recharge my batteries, corners of excellence,
I just thought it up one day. Not sure I have ever seen anyone else use it
A2: I'm constantly searching 4 new resources to help Ss & Ts, & also, 4 ways 2 solve problems and implement curriculum.
Bored? I taught 1stGr. Never a dull moment.
A2: I'm always searching for ways to connect w other Ts at PDs, conferences, and...hey! (This is my first time participating!)
Hi great topic tonight! VP up north. Happy to be here.
I taught 5thGr, too. Do u mean u get bored teaching the same units, the same way?
This is why I do Twitter Chats... never heard of this. Thanks! Ill check it out
A2 I just realized I never look for lesson plan ideas anymore. I look for projects and jumping off points. Same thing?
A2: Look for inspiration during exploration PLN to help spark to opportunities.
Thanks for coming tonight!
A2: searching for ways to put Ss in control of their learning. Increasing intrinsic motivation and emotional intelligence
Absolutely! Teachers are sharing and challenging practices more than ever.
A2- i look for anything and everything that is better than what i got.
A2 I used Twitter! provided an unprecedented Skype w my students last week..keep looking out of the box!
Yes, the units. I never teach it the same way 2x
A1: I think of curating as collecting info, keeping the good stuff, sharing
I'm pretty poorly organized, I just have really good search skills and a few other tricks.
Welcome to the fray! It goes fast- but it’s a great crowd!
-----------------> Q3 is set. Watch for
I LOVE TWITTER CHATS!!! All the help right now!
A2. I look for inspiring work by inspiring teachers who motivate me to live up to my potential.
Q3: What skills can you model for students as you curate resources as a T?
A few years ago, I'd step in & out because I wasn't sure what if my thoughts even mattered. Goal this year=PARTICIPATE!
A2:
1️⃣Best Practices
2️⃣ The Latest Research
3️⃣Innovative TechTools
that's an infographic to share at a teacher PD
best learning tool on the planet!
A3: How to find quality, credible, relevant resources for research and insight
Are you serious? This is like fantasy football but with politics. AMAZING!
care to share? I'd love to learn to get better at finding what I need
A3: Determining relevance & purpose, organizational skills, collaboration, & modification to fit new goals
A3: Thinking aloud, critical thinking skills, validity of source, how to use key terms, where/how to look
When you know how to use it right its amazing. Subtweets & all that garbage are a waste
jumping in 50% past go time. Traci, CTO 4 DUSD.
A3: Inquiry-based learning provides Ss with opportunities to curate their own resources w/ their own purpose!
A2:Always looking for ways to better personalize instruction, be a better communicator, new tech tools
It is pretty freaking awesome. One of my grad students showed it to me last year. Gotta love grad students.
A3- to model that learning and searching never stops.
I was trying to figure out how to have a Makerspace with no empty classrooms. In a chat someone suggested a cart.
A3: Seeing the world as bigger than this classroom or school, model the use of a global community to learn from.
Being a better communicator...interesting and so valuable...
A3: Risk taking and seeking. When you are willing to curate resources you are looking to do something different!
A3: Determining the credibility and quality of a resource. Also, knowing when to admit that you've been duped.
A3: ideas/plans get better as I share and collaborate with others
A2: Besides LP ideas, I search for new ways to engage my students in learning and collaboration using various technology.
A3. I actually think finding an online repository like diigo, and showing how to own your own library is great modeling.
A3: Finding information/researching a question based on an article you read, credibility of sources
A2 Conversations with educators (and others) at diverse venues.. is one I'm looking into atm
Q7 is about tools, so I was holding out. 1. Email the resource to someone then search gmail.
A3. What it means to be a life-long learner, growth mindset and resilience.
Curation is about creating and organizing idea flows…involves creativity, curiosity, inquiry and a learner mindset.
A3: Skills to model for Ss: Inquiry process, research skills, open dialogue, discussion, reading with a purpose.
+1 for doing your own research. YEAH! https://t.co/rIlE5YTcnE
A3: Finding information/researching a question based on an article you read, credibility of sources
A3: The notion that we don't have all the answers and it's okay to seek and ask others for guidance and support!
where are the ❓for this fine event.
A3) Credibility of resources is so important. Teaching Ss to find reliable sources & determine the viewpoint of the author is key
A3 I model being handsome (voted one of twitter's sexiest teachers by a poll I created) while still being modest and brilliant.
A3 I model for my Ss to be understanding. That sometimes it's a home run & others can fail ... But if you don't try who knows
Especially for me transitioning from teacher to coach this yr. communicating w/adults diff than w/kids :)
2. Tweet about it, but I have a IFTTT recipe that saves tweets to a spreadsheet. Then I search the sheet.
A3: One effective strategy is teacher "think aloud." Model reasons for evaluating, selecting, abandoning ideas
my New Years resolution for PD is focus on Admin , encourage growth and learning along side Ts
So true, however, I find there are many similarities, but adults may be much more scary
That's because you're awesome like that
A3- I like to show sts what teachers do on here. Show a hunger to grow.
A3:
1️⃣Grad Ss in CA: Do Assignments so the Research+Strategies can be easily 🗃🗄📁accessed later.
A3: finding credible & reliable resources, good search queries, multiple sources, Google scholar, Wikis are OK
Also interested in intrinsic motivation topics. Getting ready to finally read Drive
that sounds like a magic trick that I wish I could do
wish you were at my school! I am the guy everyone goes to for random science articles to relate science concepts
A3: also model curiosity -- as reading/curating come up with questions and look for answers and encourage Ss to do the same
A3: How to find credible information online as well as how to organize, bookmark, and cite appropriately when researching.
A3 being a model,Yes. But so many Times and With technology kids can be realy good to show new ways to doing it. cant Forget that
Is that a hard thing to do? I like the idea of tweets being searchable!
Diigo is a very useful tool. I also like b/c I like the idea of introducing curation to students w/ music.
A3 my three daughters are college students. Supporting them with tech & positivity come tuition paying n book buying time
oooh! I'll have to look into that! Thanks!
Bookmark. Thanks for reminding me otherwise I will forget to do it tonight lol
get ready to grow and improve your classroom. Follow it up with some https://t.co/MG2bFOdZEV
Also interested in intrinsic motivation topics. Getting ready to finally read Drive
A3: Ts should model assessing credibility/reliability of resources
Trying a bunch of new tools tomorrow in a PD I'm running, not sure how if this lead balloon will fly (:
A3: ClassRM👫Ss:
Differentiate according to Gr + Ability levels + what is🙌🏼useful to reach benchmark standards for the School Yr.
Just get all of your materials and load it on a cart. It can be moved fr rm to rm.
I definitely need to think about ways to use these with kids, love the idea
-----------------> Q4 is coming very soon. Look for tweet!
Very similar to what said. Credible info is most definitely key. A3
A3: Curation teaches organizational skills, discernment, and collaboration.
Yay for spreadsheets! Awesome application Jen :)
A3: Have students articulate reasoning in choosing answers. This classroom video captures method https://t.co/FOdXIqbYs2
Educator effectiveness funding should come in handy. IMO lack of for admin is biggest pitfall with
Q4: How do you cut through the fluff and find the valuable resources?
A3 more than modeling, these are skills we need Ss to learn and use as core to their education https://t.co/g2cmm9xEzd
A3: How to find credible information online as well as how to organize, bookmark, and cite appropriately when researching.
A3 Fostering curiosity is big, too.
Totally! Loved the moments when Ss asked Q I didn't have answer to & they'd have to Google & share lrning w/class
A4: Curation should be driven by student-focused purpose; how will resources improve student learning?
A4- build a pln you trust and the fluff stays away.
A4: I ask my Tweeps, hashtags, keywords, and my BS detector
A4: Patience, list of go-to sites, and the ability to scan quickly for credibility and relevance
A3. Model wonder. Don't be afraid to explore the world around you.
Ours is going to be based in the library and checked out.
i have to go.. Almost midnight here. Thank you for letting me in! Merci beaucoup from Québec :)
A4: know the credible places for finding resources before you ever begin looking to curate
A4 Hard to cut through the fluff. It's like dating. Gotta kiss a lot of frogs. You want good resources: read.
I'm sure you'll be awesome! Good luck!!
A4- make a account and follow great educators and their blog.
Thanks. Come join us again in the future
A4: A ninja sword...cuts through the fluff like nobody's business!
Thanks, it'll be fun (: Math, , math, , math...oh and math (:
Even if I have some of the answer, we save it for a challenge for Ss to explore. Then they share.
A4: Fortunately for math teachers, the does a lot of the fluff-cutting a resource-finding for us.
https://t.co/wtiKd3T69M
I had a professor once who called it a https://t.co/fEgzWwjFaG
A4: I ask my Tweeps, hashtags, keywords, and my BS detector
I'm going to check that out Thanks !
I use ifttt to save my favorited tweets to a notebook in Evernote. Creates searchable text
A4: I have my “go to” sites and people that I can count on. Takes a while to establish, but once done, it’s very reliable.
we're certain that it'll be a success. With the energy and knowledge you bring, they're in for a treat. https://t.co/CG3WYG5EWf
Thanks, it'll be fun (: Math, , math, , math...oh and math (:
SUPER idea! Thanks for sharing Kevin!
Organizing + Bookmarking should be prior💻 knowledge. Citing appropriately likely needs to be taught explicitly.
look into work of Deci & Ryan. Much of Pink's work is based on their Self-Determination Theory
Absolutely! There is a lot of false information online. Ss need to be able to identify the difference.
A4: Cannot say I am 100% successful here, but w/ experience it seems to come easier. Staying focused on what is good for Ss helps.
Awesome! Thank you so much! And the learning continues!
Wow, thanks that really means a lot (:
A4: Use 2-3 trusted sites. Topic based.
A4: In addition to going to fav places, also knowing what to look for quickly to assess credibility
haha wish I had one of those!
Please create a tutorial! I use all the time, and would love to learn
I really need to use ifttt more. I get lost in the recipes
Such a great point! We need to model for Ss that asking Qs and wanting to know things is a good thing https://t.co/pPAWXoLeZV
A3: also model curiosity -- as reading/curating come up with questions and look for answers and encourage Ss to do the same
A4a Operative words.. Fluff and valuable. Your fluff might be my . Value is in the eye of the researcher, so..
A4: It takes work to separate wheat from chaff. Look at their website. Do research on side. Avoid self-serving folks.
So true, and a great point!
like a book or something?
That’s why we’re here, right. Help w/ curation = )
exactly my experience Lisa! I just asked for a tutorial https://t.co/BezEDqaLto
I really need to use ifttt more. I get lost in the recipes
A4: For me it's about building a with people I trust. I know I can get valid info from & !
A4: Most times I ask for recommendations. Although sometimes value is qualified differently
Just ask them questions - the way you always do! They will learn all kinds of GREAT stuff! https://t.co/o4koRG5VEy
Trying a bunch of new tools tomorrow in a PD I'm running, not sure how if this lead balloon will fly (:
Have we not met before? I'm kind of always like this. Ask
A4b Not going it (searching) alone? Collaborating with peers to bounce ideas off of? Ss probably KNOW trusted resources already..
Fantastic-- I will! Thanks for the resources!
LOL, I am asking open ended mathematics (:
Research is a lot easier thanks to the Internet📲💻💾but citing Authors📚URLs - iThink that has to be emphasized.
Maybe? I am not sure. It's awesome though! Keep it up
-----------------> Q5 is up next. Look for tweet!
this sounds AMAZING! I'm so going to attend.
A4c Like during my MS Ed I was usually attracted to HMW stuff n working it for possibilities.
Looking for classroom resources, I go through a lot of blogs from cool, innovative Ts. Love PBL & projs
Q5: What questions do you have for the PLN about curating?
A4 (b): One of my go to sites when I was in the classroom was An amazing resource for thought-provoking material
a4 I'll try just about any source once, unless it's known for being rude or dismissive or hardline.
Thanks Karly, that's very kind (: The worst I can do, is better than not trying at all can't grw if no try
A4) Cutting through the full is tough. I have "go to" websites that I know are reliable
A4: Like going to a conference, look to see who is speaking - sometimes more important than the topic.
A5: What tools do you use to curate? How do you code/ tag items to find later?
A4:After continual exploring, I have several sites that have become go-to's Always open to suggestions and advice from my PLN
Is it wrong that a sticky note in a book is still one of my favorite ways to curate my ideas/learning? https://t.co/dxI8udOl9F
A5: What tools do you use to curate? How do you code/ tag items to find later?
A5: What resources (besides Evernote) is everyone using to curate? I’m using Flipboard now and I really like it.
And they all put the kid before the curriculum. https://t.co/AkpqdOH22p
Looking for classroom resources, I go through a lot of blogs from cool, innovative Ts. Love PBL & projs
A5: As a I'm interesting in how you promote resources to encourage Ts to try new resources and strategies.
Not at all! But do you go back to your sticky notes? I love writing in books, but don't save those ideas well!
A4 Ss love fluff! They don't know how to think like a scientist!.. Maybe less head phones..lol
A5: In what ways is curating an ongoing process vs an immediate need?
How might we grow from this?
I've used it, but don't love it. I've also used pocket.
A5: Anybody have a favorite tool 4 group curating? Google works, but organization sometimes gets in way. Everyone must understand.
A4: Certain URL endings are more valid+reliable resources than others:
1️⃣ .edu
2️⃣ .gov
As opposed to the usual .com
I will almost always choose speaker over topic.
A5 Please share a recipe for linking from from online resources I save https://t.co/OjxcWPEFS8
That’s why we’re here, right. Help w/ curation = )
If you can't find your resources later, they aren't useful in the future. https://t.co/r41YWvb7C3
A5: In what ways is curating an ongoing process vs an immediate need?
How might we grow from this?
No, but I will. I have done the on Mondays though. Thanks for the tip!
Good question Amy tagging is a essential to making a collection accessible: subject tags, company, skill.. https://t.co/sdkFHLDO2D
A5: What tools do you use to curate? How do you code/ tag items to find later?
LOL, that made me spit hot tea on my laptop (: True
The best answer might just be a spreadsheet, then. Not fancy, but easy and fast.
A5) Any anagrams or little things for students to remember how to check the reliability of sources?
A5 How come all of you haven't curated to following me?
And
Hope you didn't hurt your laptop! ;)
A5: I'm really bad about this. I always email myself and then create files. Thank God for the search function in Gmail.
Nope, just the skin exposed on my lap from hot tea (: But well worth it
True. I am extremely organized, but I have a variety of systems. Haven't committed to just one.
I still like Also use in addition to
A4: I typically stick to well known sites when looking for information. I also use advanced search options in Google.
I love evernote- it's my go-to for most everything!
I always for to use the advanced searches. There is a good cutting fluff tool
you can put the Diigo add on in your toolbar and it will save anything in your library. Put in details later
A4- i use wikipedia for all as it is legit... oh wait
I honestly just remember.
This is something we've just started. Glad to hear that it worked for you! I love the idea celebrating Ts!!
I use LiveBinder for curating websites. I create binders around topics. Can make them public to share with your PLN.
thanks I will check it out!
---------------------> Prepare for Q6 from
A5: Seriously, I have stuff EVERYWHERE: Dropbox, Google Drive, Wunderlist, Evernote
I do. I make it a habit to return to books that I know have great ideas. I flip through & lrn something new
Is one of my go to apps for curation.
A5: I use and , but my work life would be a mess without .
One of my problems, digital resources in 100 different places
That's great! I don't do that enough.
Kudos for . I use Clearly all the time in my research. Easy to share.
Forgot*...I also forgot how to spell too. Whoops!
Q6: Part of curating is sharing your collection. In what ways can you do this as a T?
Padlet of course is another way students can add resources in one place.
you can annotate the archived link
A5: my blog, Twitter and need to do more.
A6: I post most in Drive and share w/my district, moving to dropbox to share w/everyone, website, blog, etc
A5: Do you have any favorite YouTube channels that have elementary appropriate info for science & math? I use Crash Course Kids.
something else to try thanks. does it offer group accounts?
A6- blogs, , , presentations, . Actually its quite easy to do.
A6: We're working on a T co-op where Ts can submit resources, lessons, etc. to a form. We hope to create a searchable database!
Like to save reading for later& I use to collect "live" resources (at confs, in classrms)
A6: Twitter, blog, all things Google, Edmodo, Pinterest, Instagram, email, in PLCs, face-to-face, when planning...
True, I share as much as I can on Twitter too, great point
LiveBinder - can add to toolbar, then when find something, click to LiveBinder It.
I use all the time but not dropmark -- will have to check it out, thanks
Me, too. Some times it is completely out of hand- mostly it’s pretty organized in folders etc. https://t.co/AcLvQnndJp
A5: Seriously, I have stuff EVERYWHERE: Dropbox, Google Drive, Wunderlist, Evernote
A6) In districts you have everyone's emails, share resources on a Google sheet, word of mouth, email, phone, social media
Thanks! I love those resources too! Appreciated hearing how others use them.
I love to find them later on any device
A6: Shared staff site with resources, 1:1 sharing. Social media for broader sharing.
Ditto. Padlet is my goto, but will try Dropmark
But I use to save info/artifacts/etc when at a training or PD
A6: Pinterest, Evernote, GoogleDocs. I share individual resources through email.
A6: befriend a Ts in the dark and support their growth by modeling.
A6 Livebinder is one way. I think blogging is better (wrap a narrative around resource(s) for engagement)
A6: word of mouth, Twitter, Google Drive, Pinterest
A6: Opening your door and welcoming colleagues in...on elf the best ways to learn is to see it in action!
I get it! We have to choose what to use and let others go
is something we've worked hard to implement. The WHY is SO important!
Does seem math is a little more organized, or it's just what I pay attention too...
A6: At work I use my website & newsletter to share; individually I share items specific to the person
sry joining late. Q2 i search for real-life resources and events to inspire kids to make connections
Blame autocorrect or fast typing.
Slack is our main form on communication between the coaches at TUSD. Love it!
Same here!! But it all makes sense to me at least :)
A6 share ..Bring your experiences up at lunch, Make suggestions to colleagues, share w admin, this one can be difficult
A6: Via email or in my 1:1 meetings with teachers.
A6 Have found that MOOCs are info rich repositories for teachers. Full of resources and opinions from exper Ts
Although one challenge is getting more Ts to participate! We have a solid core but there are so many more!
--------------------> will be sending out Q7 soon.
has to have admin support, Principals must be the champion of change, create culture of risk taking, failing forward
I love padlet- but never used it like this. I use real sticky notes all the time. https://t.co/wds99QMypz
Ditto. Padlet is my goto, but will try Dropmark
Reintro (w/out spelling errors) Relocated to🌴CA. Interviewing on the side4⃣TeachingJobs.
I do🖌Art+Write📝.
I'm also a🕌Scholar.
Blogging is a way to put resource into deeper context. is a master at this & I always find value w/ his posts
I'm going to curate that collection on my Diigo math outline
the marriage of tech and analog systems?
A6: Be like and share relentlessly :)
Q7: Share the tools you use in collection, selection, and contextualizing those resources.
A6: also during PD's and grade-level meetings
do you use the free version?
oh there's plenty more where that came from, Dvora :)
Blogging is the best way to reflect.
I think story/context is important in curation because it's not just the find, it's relationship building
I signed up and want to try Slack, but worried it might confuse some of my team.
A6: I use Google Drive primarily for sharing resources.
I think that comes back to culture. Imagine if attended the message it would send to Ts?!
Definitely! And the comments and dialog that the blog generates are just a valuable. Expanding the context https://t.co/C2oDF8e9V1
Blogging is a way to put resource into deeper context. is a master at this & I always find value w/ his posts
A6: Starting a weekly "best practice" voluntary staff mtng... calling it Appy Hour (10-15 min. max)...got the idea at an edcamp!
It's quite simple to use. The trouble is notifications and convos. Create norms of comms
A7 I am making of resources, will share if interested, it's all mathy stuff though
Makes sense when you say it like that! My Ss have used Padlet during class to share stuff- I never applied it to mine
Blogging is a way to reflect. If someone hates writing they're gonna hate blogging.
I'm working on doing that! I officially bought and hosted my wordpress site. Now I'm gotta blog.
Hangouts work well for small groups. There's also
I couldn't agree more! Reflection is so important! I reflect by blogging too! https://t.co/ltVubqipLb
Blogging is the best way to reflect.
We did summer admin workshops but definitely need to do more!
Hey -- my amazingly brilliant LiteracyTOSA colleague, Eve just joined Twitter &her first Give her a follow!
A7) Collection: Notes, Google, CPU docs
Selection: Very carefully
Contextualizing: File folders on CPU for grouping content
Yay for my favorite! I had to train myself to use the chrome extension AND add tags - soooo worth it!
I used to. 🚔stole my laptop💻so I can't share😐. Relocated bc of🚔Brutality. The weather isn't bad when it isn't raining.
yay! let me know when so i can read it.... and share it :)
A7: Real problem is it is in too many places: Google drive, Google keep, Evernote, notability, Sharepoint, I think there is more 😁
I've gotten away from the tags, but they are so useful!
ah, many thanks! Will do. :)
as I said at the beginning of the hr, the resources are endless
YES! Google Docs is a very powerful tool for teaching, learning, collaborating & sharing!
A7: I e-mail resources to others and myself sometimes so I can search for things but sometimes I forget to...
the tags take a moment of time to add, but in the long run are huge for finding and forming collections
A7: I have a presentation Pinterest: Curating and Collaborating https://t.co/uQmuKwoXnA
Created school dist Pinterest page
following you and your blog now.

A7: I e-mail resources to others and myself sometimes so I can search for things but sometimes I forget to...
A7 Evernote, google docs for sharing out easily. Google for searching. Plus alumni libraries
Pinterest goal is that Ts pin and comment, not just pin, pin, pin. Kind of working. It's a beginning. https://t.co/uQmuKwoXnA
