Hello - Kristy from Il my #oneword for this year is Balance. My freshmen picked one word on Tuesday and their explanations were thoughtful and reflective! #EduAR
A1. Within my school, our leadership team is the VOICE of the school. They work with their teams by supporting, listening, and leading them as one! #EduAR

A1: In my district the educator voice is not heard very much at all...however I’ve made sure to make mine as loud as possible and it is authentic, with purpose and passion, to bring together others and empower not just colleagues but also students #eduAR
A1: Educator's voice in my building is sharing without fear, brainstorming outside the box, holding each other accountable. The voice of the educators make the magic happen. #eduAR
A1: This is a work in progress for @VirtualArkansas I have PLC leaders and curriculum desingers/developers that are the positional leaders; I am also looking for teachers that are innovative and take risks to increase student success and foster collective efficacy #EduAR
A1: I love that our district works hard to allow teachers to lead in areas of professional development. WE have a strong voice in how we share, support, and encourage each other. #EduAR

A1 There is no set way to have an educator voice. No protocol is used, no regular way to learn and share together. When it comes to voice, we know it is important, yet we rarely work hard to empower that teacher voice & collaborate to make magic happen. #eduAR
A1: We have a system in place to ensure all voices are heard with Instructional Leaders (District & Campus), Leaders of Learners (Campus), and Department Chairs. With regular meetings and PLCs, everyone is included in decisions and has choices for PD. #EduAR
In my district educator voice has mostly been leading from the classroom and connecting to the community. We are making strides to lead through groups and teams. I am passionate about leading to increase teacher voice and influence! We need to trust the experts in teaching #EduAR
A1 In my district, teachers have been very bold lately about letting their voices be heard. Not sure that it’s all been positive, but it sure has been passionate. #EduAR
A2: Currently working on an edcamp-style experience for our teachers to attend. Looking to provide a day where they can come together to discuss and learn from each other. Those are the best convos! #EduAR
A1: beyond the normal surveys, committees, etc. - questions, a lot of listening, more questions, relationship-driven, more questions, and in the best interest of the learner. #eduar
A2. We do lots of reflective practices including anonymous surveys but also PLC team check-ins. The key is trust, feedback and having conversations. #eduAR
A2) I’m present and visible and working really hard at being an intentional listener. I always ask for feedback in surveys and then I make sure to summarize the results and share an action plan to improve upon the feedback #EduAR
A2 I try to lead by example. I share my voice, whether it is listened to or not. I will never be silent when it comes to what is best for kids. I try to share on social media, to share within local groups. I'm not perfect, I am a learner & I hope to inspire with my growth. #eduAR

A2: To promote educator voice I am being a listening ear to colleagues so they feel like someone is hearing them. I may not be able to do much, but to be heard is a first step. As our voices gain strength we can then move mountains, or at least create ripples #eduAR

I think it will be amazing! It will be all the convos we try to have during the breaks on our PD days! Those are simply the best learning moments so why not make a day of those moments! #EduAR
A2: Being the lead learner of a building, I have to make sure that I create opportunities for discourse, grappling, sharing, questioning, struggling, and celebrating. #EduAR
A2:I ask for feedback from my Ts during PD, have a "working google doc" that anyone can add suggestions/ask ?s pertaining to needs/PD/ideas; I have "open door" so Ts know their voice matters; I do annonymous feedback surveys once a quarter to guage the temp of our org #EduAR
A1: Educator #voice is huge in my district! As a newer teacher I have been welcomed with open arms and encouragement from all levels at @MCS4Kids! I am on the Site Leadership committee and district tech committee. Soaring high!
#eduAR
A2 I have tried to be an example by distancing myself from negativity this year, and I am working on strategies to turn that into positives instead of just distancing myself from it when facing those situations. #EduAR
Joining late— Courtney, Lead Pirate learner at Cedarville HS in Arkansas! A2) I love elevating teachers’ voices by passing along every opportunity to provide public comment on policy, share their stories via @CHSPirates1, and to submit their ideas to publications!#eduAR

A1: This year my focus was SEL, incorporating technology and #voice. I started with #studentvoice which led to me connecting with other educational communities. I learn a lot from educational leaders in surrounding districts. #eduAR
A4) we have a student council and an ambassador program! They also don’t hesitate to tell me what they want in the hallway, cafeteria, or through a persuasive essay or email 🤣 (those are my favorite)#EduAR
A3 Our school is fortunate to have so many educators who truly want the BEST for our kids, and that encourages student voice. We several clubs/activities for students to get them involved, and we began a mentoring program this year as well. #EduAR
A2: To promote educator #voice where I am I help my peers, offer help where I can, and help others find the resources and answers they desire. The best learning comes from my peers questions!
#eduAR
A1: beyond the normal surveys, committees, etc. - questions, a lot of listening, more questions, relationship-driven, more questions, and in the best interest of the learner. #eduar
A3: I can say that in the art room student voice is always welcome from simple one on one chats, input on the project, choice in materials, group sharing, and more. Most importantly he room is a safe space to share one’s voice and know it has value and importance #eduAR
A3 Student voice is encouraged in each classroom. When building relationships, talking with students and having them be driving forces behind the learning is key. We try to model practices and hope that positive experiences keep growing & spreading. #eduAR
A2 Take opportunities to share about the best practices we see around us, and encourage each other to continue climbing, to take risks, and to embrace new ideas. #EduAR
A3: Our team works to create an environment where mistakes are opportunities to learn. Some might say growth mind-set. Takes different forms. When responded to well, the environment allows for ‘safer’ dialogue - students can be themselves, be honest, and provide voice. #EduAR

Great observation. Teacher Voice is not a one-size-fits-all protocol. It is unique to the individual teacher. That's where the power of Voice comes in.
A2 Take opportunities to share about the best practices we see around us, and encourage each other to continue climbing, to take risks, and to embrace new ideas. #EduAR
A3: Many options exist at my site, but I am looking for more! I offer lots of choice in my courses and regularly make time for students to share what is working and what is not. I take their feedback seriously, and that is what helps me improve year after year!
#eduAR
Q4. Quaglia and Lande believe that Teacher Voice is underutilized in school reform. What role does your educator voice play in your school's growth and adaptation to change? Your answer matters. #EduAR@bethhill2829@nortnik@DisruptedTv
A3: Teacher autonomy! We feel free to take the time to allow our students to have a voice in their learning. Not only free to, but encouraged to and supported in those endeavors. #EduAR
A1 a couple of years ago Admin allowed a volunteer group of ts/chairs to develop PD. Sometimes they have to cover district stuff, they’ve been able to cover a lot of topics that teachers really year to hear more about like last months book study of Whistling Vivaldi #eduAR
A3) anytime I have a questionabout how to make a new idea work or make something work better—> ask the Ss! My kiddos are putting on the most incredible student-led Career Exploration Conference that any adult would die to attend! They are amazing! #eduar
A4. In my school, I several veteran teachers, so I know to LISTEN to their experience! But we also make sure to listen to the Research to what works and what exactly our kids need. #EduAR

Q2 I often listen to fix but that means I hear the problems best and troubleshoot. I’m realizing that to my Ts this can be discouraging. I need to just listen sometimes- allow their excitement to grow instead of squash it with potential issues. #eduAR

A4 I believe that my voice is one of innovation, disruption and of learning. People know that I am willing to try anything if it helps kids. It may not be perfect, it may need to change, but status quo is never the only way. Be better for kids. #eduAR

A4: T Voice w/ @VirtualArkansas is incredibly important. Utilizing it is the most powerful way to create positive change & foster instructional practices that have the greatest impact on S learning. Building capacity is what my team and I am working on to foster this. #EduAR
In the south we tend to protect and caudle our youth instead of seeing our humanity (adults and children) as equal. If we truly believe students can learn, then we should also truly have confidence in their intellect and critical thinking skills. #eduar
A4 Our Principal,@stevenhelmick , has created a “Keep on Climbing” team which is open to every single staff member. It’s single purpose it to listen to our thoughts and ideas on continuous improvement. It’s empowering and valuable! #EduAR#robertsrocks
A3: A new culture, built from an entirely new administration team, allows our students to express themselves. It's crazy to think we are at the beginning our journey. #eduAR
A4: Teachers have so much to offer regarding big decisions in a school. As lead learner, I know I don't have to make most decisions on my own, because my tribe will support conversations--even the tough ones. #EduAR
A4: opening a new school allowed for a lot of voice. I would love to have our staff assess this. I ‘believe’ our admin. team is good at this, but I recognize we miss it some times. If I’m being REAL, think this gets (unintentionally) rushed because of time. #EduAR

A4) As a teacher I rarely felt my voice was sought; I had to force it upon others. As a leader, I try to empower the teachers with tools to grow, then step back and watch them own their practice. I love saying, “It’s up to you. You’re the *expert*.” #eduar
A5: Personalizing adult learning is equally as important as personalizing kids' learning. Teachers deserve opportunities to grow in job embedded experiences. #EduAR
A5: Teachers in our district (normally) have the option to select 6-18 hours of their own PD. There are options in the district presented by their colleagues, they can attend co-op offerings, conferences, complete book studies, etc. #EduAR
A5 Our district has been offering more choices on PD days instead of having everyone sit all day in the same workshop, however, it’s just not enough. Ask us what we need, and value that! We need time to collaborate together, and visit other schools and classrooms! #EduAR

A5: Leading PD is one of my favorite things to do! When I see a need for something, a gap in what has been offered for me, I instantly want to be a part of filling that gap for myself and others. #EduAR
A5: We restructured PD in my district. Ts have lots of VOICE & CHOICE. Summer PD is conference style with session choices, we have EdCamps, and recently our digital learning specialists provided an online summit that was self-paced. #EduAR
A5: I feel this as well. I am trying to find ways to bring in teacher directed/selected PD. We do provide autonomy with book study/action research which is allowing team autonomy to thrive. #EduAR
A5) In the past, #teachervoice has been so suppressed that the T’s didn’t even know what to ask for. Watching it change is awesome. I received an email today from a teacher saying the #ditchbook “conference” was extended, and I nearly melted! #eduar
Pamela Geometry T from Fayetteville jumping in really late 9th grade 🏀...A5: Our district has hosted PD days with district Ts has the presenters; sponsored Edcamp events & math conferences w/ great national speakers #onefps#EduAR
Yes! We are working getting digital badging set up at Pinewood. PD should look different, sound different and feel different then it did 10 years ago. Personalized learning is huge! #dissertationwork#eduAR

A5 Educator led PD is encouraged. We have a district wide twitter chat as well as a learning institute with educator led sessions at the beginning of the year. #eduAR
A5: Our school is implementing a coaching model where the mindset is shifting from 'opt in' to 'all in', meaning coaching cycles are for everyone, even administrators. It is student centered and has already made an impact. #SCcoaching#EduAR

Growing each other! Leaders are born through this type of interaction with colleagues. Sharing what you know gets in your blood, but you have to get beyond the fear of taking the risk. #eduAR
District gave the departments their own institute day at the start of school. The chairs asked our departments what they might be willing to present and we had our own mini conference-speech comm, Making independent reading work, gamifying R&J, understanding race issues & more

I totally relate to this Courtney. I think part of my issue when I was in the classroom was a lack of self confidence. Honestly, I still struggle and have to push myself. #eduAR

Join #EduAR as we welcome @woodard_julie as host for Thursday, January 17 with the topic we all need to be reminded of daily...The Creative Educator (creative approaches to learning, testing, achievement, family relations)
@bethhill2829@nortnik
A6: I utilize protocols, articles, book excerpts, surveys, conversations... most of all I listen and learn with my teachers and work on being honest, vulnerable and as clear as possible; authentic learning is my goal for all of us. #EduAR
A6 Honestly, you all are my greatest resource! You encourage and empower me in so many ways! I value your voices and ideas! You give me courage! Thank you! #EduAR
#EduAR is a twitter chat. It's every Thursday at 8:30 CST. Lots of educators get together and discuss different topics. Tonight's topic is about educator voice.
A6) I love Twitter, but when it comes to evidence-based resources that I know will have the most equitable impact on all students, I usually turn to @ASCD and colleagues associated with @aascdconnect. I also love to bounce ideas off AEEN, @NNSTOY, and #NTOY17 family. #eduar

A6 an unlikely mentor has come about for me and I am lucky to hear his wisdom and perspective. I wouldn’t have picked him initially but he’s earned my respect through his words and actions. Also, Research and relationships- thank you @Twitter@ncte@iate#eduAR

A6: I just finished the #DitchSummit; Learned so much & realize Ts can take risks by looking for the best strategies to reach our Ss; show our Admin that we are being life long learners growing through meaningful PD including Twitterchats like #EduAR
A2: I have started a #FiresideChat. We meet once a month and talk about "teacher stuff." So far we've discussed our "why" and children in trauma. Next month will be self-care/secondary trauma #eduAR

A6 ASCD is one of my go-to resources at all times. I need to make a reading list of other great resources! As the daughter of a retired admin., I tend to go to my dad for insight as well. #EduAR
A6: I read a lot! Twitter chats, peer convos, #observeMe, did I say Twitter chats? Oh yeah and Twitter chats. My PLN is my biggest most valuable resource and that PLN comes from many sources! #EduAR
