I will kick us off by saying my name, Elissa Moritz, my role, Library Services Supervisor, and what I am currently reading, which Leading from the Library by Hilda Weisberg #LCPSedChat
Q1 asks about the different ways you have worked with librarians. Ifyou are a librarian, what are some ways you have collaborated with teachers and/or students in your buildings? #LCPSedChat
A1: I've dressed as Cat in the Hat for Read Across America Day (full face make-up & all) & have done trainings on accessibility for private school library organizations. #LCPSedChat
Q2: School libraries are continually evolving to reflect the schools they serve. What is one thing you have in your school library that was a surprising discovery for you? #LCPSedChat
A1: our library is the our school’s learning nexus! Though I am not in an instructional role any more, it is my favorite place to sit and watch students meaningfully engaged across all content areas #lcpsedchat@1library_ninja
A2: I think that breakouts have surprised people and the students enjoy solving the puzzles with their learning to get the codes. Almost like an escape room! #LCPSedChat
A2: I'm digging the new innovative trends of Lego walls, exercise bikes, coloring stations, sticker art, and more. I love that the library has come to be a community space that is like the heart of the school. #LCPSedChat
@ElissaMoritz Author visits, displays, talking with students and teachers when they come to the library or learning from their team notes what topics they are covering and to seek them out #LCPSedChat
Q1: I love collaborating with @BAM_MS_Official Ts because everyday is different! Today I booktalked historical fiction, tomorrow I am teaching research w/8th grade science. #LCPSedChat
A2. Not surprising to me, but people who come into our library during times when students have free time/choice (before school, lunches) they are always amazed at how many kids are in here. Usually over 300 before school. #LCPSedChat
#lcpsedchat I Will introduce myself and boast about the amazing librarians of @RiversideLCPS
My name is Kayleigh Jansen. I teach high school English. I am currently reading Becoming by Michelle Obama. Our librarians at riverside are amazing.
A2: I am always amazed by how many classes and topics that @1library_ninja manages to integrate into library instruction with her flexible schedule. Lots of collaboration with our teachers is a pleasure to see #lcpsedchat
A2: 3 homerooms with Ss we grow with all 3 yrs, breakout boxes, a news studio. Nothing too shocking for LCPS but fun for us outside of collection development, reader advisory and info lit. #LCPSedChat
I forgot to mention that I'm currently on the third book in the "Me Before You" trilogy: "Still Me." (a little departure from the middle grade books I typically read during the school year). :)

I have a Donors Choose project going right now to get a Lego wall funded for our library. I am partnering with the autism Ts & their Ss to create the wall. #lcpsedchat
A2: i managed to work in some makerspace time at the end of last year (hard when I have ea class 30 min once a week) and to my surprise, it was the 5th graders who asked me this year for time for that and not the younger grades. #LCPSedChat
A1: This year I’ve done everything from whole school PD session to collaborating with small groups. We discuss everything from research to fabrication to what we’re reading. It’s a great learning community @LCPS_Academies! #lcpsedchat
@ElissaMoritz It is the very idea of quiet that libraries have to change. Music is played in the library all day. Teachers can be seen and heard singing/dancing. Students love to hear favorite tunes and it's music that is being discussed in music.#lcpsedchat
A3: Ts often come to the library looking for resources but leave w/ideas for products and audience as well. Finding an authentic audience is a challenge where librarians can be a big help. #lcpsedchat
A3: Brainstorming! Resources: digital, physical and spatial. Information literary training -- digital generation is not born information literate! #lcpsedchat
