A1 Ensuring that teachers are constantly engaged in PD that is specifically designed for them/ by them. Teachers should be engaged in learning all the time because our kids depend on it #pln365
A1 we have to start with the relationships, that is key, and we have to keep pushing ourselves to learn more, risk more and keep learning with our students #pln365
A1: Peer observations. This gives Ts a chance to see effective practices in action plus empowers them, too. Like #pineapplecharts or a peer observation competition to make it more open and low-risk, high-reward. #pln365
A1: It’s about teacher chosen, meaningful PD. Engaging in chats like this, reading often. Educators must always strive to be more educated! Lifetime learning isn’t only a cliche #pln365
A1: Trust which comes from relationships. These bonds can be created through active listening, consistency, collaboration and a willingness to be vulnerable. #pln365
A1: the biggest body we can give ourselves and others as teachers is to build community. Watch each other teach, have a meal together, share ideas in the hallway, etc. #pln365
I love peer observations. Unfortunately, so many teachers I've worked with in the past were so against it. I've always felt that you learn so much by having people observe you and the debrief afterwards is invaluable #pln365
A1: Culture, culture, culture! Teacher Effectiveness is directly impacted by the culture around them. Iron sharpens iron, belief in self and system is contagious, and when all work together as teachers, ALL teachers succeed. #pln365
A1. Relationships- with students to learn from them (likes, what’s effective for them) and colleagues to experience other ways of doing, sort of mini-PD sessions. Support when trying something new. #pln365
A1: We must continue to learn and grow. There is no greater responsibility as a professional. If we remain stagnant, we do a disservice to our students. They are learning everyday. So should we..... #pln365
A1: relationships are essential, and a prerequisite for content/pedagogy. We have to know our students, their passions, their culture, and their uniqueness... and bring those into the classroom in order to drive the effectiveness of teachers as facilitators #pln365
A1 Seeking to provide professional development that is meaningful and tailored to the Ts' needs. Want to look into bringing #pineapplecharts to @MelrosePS to help build the idea that some of the best learning happens from one another. #pln365
#pln365 The most important thing we can do for one another as educators is to listen, challenge, support and help one another push ourselves to continue to grow. The more we collaborate and share ideas the more we inspire greatness and innovation
Yes Chad, I agree that sometimes it's about lack of trust. Other times, I think people are just not very open to growth and/or change. It is a lot easier to coach/peer observe when their is already an established relationship of mutual trust #pln365
A2: This is tough, self-reflection is SO valuable. To me it comes easy, to some... not so much. At our school, at the end of each week I send out a teacher newsletter using @SmorePages that highlights the week and always includes a self-reflection question. #pln365
I have become really aware of how many are just not open to growth or change. We cannot settle for good enough. Students deserve for us to grow so that they can grow! #pln365

Part of being reflective is comparison - in a way that you can see what you are doing and what others are doing and come to a consensus of what is best practice for your students. That may mean following each other on twitter, attending others classes, etc. #pln365
A2: I’ve started a small PLN within the school to talk about strategies and opportunities for growth. It’s lead to some great ideas for really focusing and tackling the needs of our most struggling students. Small groups allow for more personal engagement with teachers. #pln365
Jumping in a bit late, Steph Dill SPED T in Colorado. Ts need to have a griwth mindset, be willing to listen to something new and give it a try even if it small bites at a time. There needs to be forward Motion from everyone. #pln365
A2: I think that being relfective is more natural to some than others.I think we can ask reflective questions in our conversations with our colleagues to encourage it and learn from one another. #pln365
As a leader I have to model it. I share how, when, why I continuously learn & then I expect others to do the same. I share stories about student struggles & how teachers overcome those struggles w/new knowledge. It's always about the kids #pln365
#pln365 One of my favorites is to visit classrooms and give positive feedback - I appreciate it when others come into my classes and observe me #ObserveMe - I seek feedback- I never want to get stale or complacent- I want to continually grow and improve my craft
A3: Asking probing questions (not in an attacking way) but a way to kinda like the last question (get them to self-reflect). And honestly, some good ole-fashioned encouragement when it comes to risk-taking. #pln365
Putting it in writing and having an accountability partner. That second piece is crucial. With someone on the other end that won't let me slip, it's even more pressing. #pln365
A2. I think most do this a lot by simply asking what worked/didn’t work in a lesson at first and then make adjustments. Eventually people ask about lesson looking for ideas for use in their own classroom. Small scale it seems like a normal part of the day. #pln365
A2: First, you have to give them some respect for what they ARE doing now. Then go to “have you seen this” as a way to enhance what they already have. If you start with “You are doing it wrong” they will stop listening. #pln365
A2 Model, be a good listener, share that it is hard sometimes and there will be struggles, more input does not mean more criticism it means more feedback. #PLN365
A3: You can't change someone's mind if they don't like you! You have to build a relationship, even with the teachers you disagree with, and then work on coming to the same vision slowly. #pln365
A2 #pln365 I think inspiring others to join Twitter and collaborate with teachers around the world is the best tool for growth. Just chatting with other educators daily and getting curious about new strategies makes all the difference
A2: Another set of eyes viewing what you are doing is always helpful. Thankful for the others in my life that can help me catch and check my blind spots. #pln365
A2: sometimes self reflection can come from observing peers. Being able to ask have I done that, how would that look in my room, what can i change or drop to make that work for me and my students. Once changes are made then more true self reflection can happen. #pln365
A3. Ask deep questions about why something is being done. Ask teachers to lead pd or give presentations on what they are doing and why. It might get people questioning and wondering about their own practice. #pln365
I started using Google Keep on my phone to I could jot down random notes whenever they hit me. That way I can go back and look when I am ready. #pln365
A3 approach conversations like you would a reading assessment...why do you think that? tell me more? Great Leaders Ask Great Questions @JohnMaxwellTeam don't judge, aim to understand #pln365
A3: Encourage everyone to try something new and model it!! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and that is okay. ALL staff should step “out of the box”. That is how we grow. #pln365
A2 I like to reflect as part of staff meetings and I expect staff members to do the same. Again, it's up to me to model and then I expect others to follow. I don't accept when others don't reflect because I know it's crucial to our success and I children deserve it #pln365
A3: be honest & open. Show the human side that everything doesn't always work the 1st time. Be transparent in how you will make changes to model to others. #pln365
modeling is such an important part of teaching. as a leader you are still teaching the audience just changes! #pln365 some might not know any other way; they have been watching this "job" for at least 16 years b4 doing it
A3: Encourage everyone to try something new and model it!! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and that is okay. ALL staff should step “out of the box”. That is how we grow. #pln365
A3: Find creative and clever ways to push the limits at all times without wearing out your administration. Constantly tweaking and innovating. When you have the Ss best interest at heart, it is difficult to say "NO". #pln365
A3: Challenging the status quo is, in my mind, a way of showing support for teachers. Good leaders of great teachers understands that there is no such thing as status quo with a great teacher. #pln365
A3 Know your team, ask questions AND listen to answers. Be specific and communicate often. Push the boundaries withese in mind and always seek feed back as a model. #PLN365
I voice-to-text my book notes from my audiobooks on my drive. Then i can just upload the notes and reflection onto my website when I'm done for others to read and reflect #pln365

A3b: A couple of years ago we were all given "Get Out of Jail Free" cards to encourage to take risks, trusting that if it didn't work out, there were no consrquences. #pln365
A4: I think the leader first needs to be consistent in how often they give feedback. Only giving feedback on evaluations isn’t going to help these types of teachers. It needs to be part of the school culture. #pln365
#pln365 A great leader is a tree- branches outstretched for others to use as support -but also a shelter in order for those around them to feel safe to thrive independently- when educators feel secure & free to innovate they will and they will bring about great change
A4: Start with asking them "How do you think that went" and let them critique first. Then you can work on problem solving issues together instead of one person telling the other what is wrong. #pln365
A4 don't overload with "growing" feedback. Pick a key lever and otherwise give affirmations. Make deposits before you start withdrawing; your relationship will be grateful #pln365
A4: @techwnancy taught me to use @voxer after every observation. I send a link to my notes and a link to my vox. Ts can hear the excitement in my voice. And I always end with a question which sparks a conversation. #pln365
A4 I think giving feedback (implies observing) should be a constant practice within schools. Just as we shouldn't wait until the end of the unit to give Ss feedback we shouldn't do that to Ts. It should be embedded into the culture of every school #pln365
#pln365 Baby steps. Feedback is necessary. As professionals we must accept it and use it to better our skill. Helping educators keep a growth mindset is important- if we help others feel & recognize the value of FB and reflection-we can strengthen the field of education
A4: I think it is important for ppl to know and trust the inentions of feeback. It is also helpful to know HOW ppl like to receive feedback. It should also be regular, not just during eval season. #pln365
A4: I think it goes right back to modeling. Share testimonies with colleagues. Share those success stories with strategies. A good teacher will listen, a great teacher will ask for more. #PLN365
A4: I think a leader (and this is VERY hard to do, but) needs to make it a regular, consistent, purposeful part of the experience of teaching. Building the trust and relationship with consistency and fidelity is critical to maximizing feedback.#pln365
A2 Have been☘️to engage in many practices that support this reflection: lesson studies,Teacher Action Research....even Twitter-you are constantly 👀 others' posts and reflect on how it applies to you & your teaching. Want to work hard to bring these to Ts in my district #pln365
A2: At faculty meetings I like to do bring and brag activities with my staff. THey share lessons with their colleagues and then get feedback on what their colleagues think and how they could apply it in their discipline. Teachers enjoy sharing and reflecting. #pln365#4OCF
A3) As leaders build strong relationships, you must also create an environment that you coach Ts to take risks and they must trust you will support them through this journey.#pln365
A4. Focus on positives and what is going well. Build from there. While feedback focused on weakness is better than no feedback, having little experience with feedback anything negative might cause resentment. Offer suggestions for tweaks to make things better. #pln365
A4: Model feedback, be consistent, be transparent and be positive. When you create a culture of support people will take risks that can really improve student learning. #pln365
Honestly @alienearbud gets my mind swirling with ideas every morning. His podcasts are incredible -School Leadership Series & Better Leaders Better Schools #pln365

A4 #pln365 Deliberate & purposeful feedback is a critical component of education-for students, leaders and teachers. It is a tool we must all utilize & help others to integrate into their routine. Feedback is a part of us whether it comes from others or ourselves- it is critical
A2: PLCs are a great time to discuss student performance. Teachers need to have time to talk about real situations, instead of scores all the time. #IHMarchMadness#pln365
A4 #pln365 Model feedback to your students by asking for feedback from them. Accept their critique and their praise- use it and let them see you grow from it by responding with change and updated lessons etc.
A4: Feedback should occur on a frequent basis. It is imperative to know what we are doing that stands out and what can be improved upon. That's how as Ts we will grow. #IHMarchMadness#PLN365
A2. Just mentioned this in #pln365. A colleague and I are getting a pineapple board installed in the mailroom for mini-pd sessions that everyone could participate in. #personalizedPD
A4 (sorry I'm behind!) Think the feedback process needs to be an important part of a school culture, a priority. Making the connection between research behind S feedback and how it can impact Ts as well. Being present in classrooms every day. #pln365
