Q1 What are some ways you can get Ts at your school/district interested in becoming Google Educators?
A1 - our district is encouraging it and offering to pay for Level 1 & 2 w/ vouchers.
a1: providing time to study in groups and pay for the testing.
A1: I did a License to Google Drive training to start the year. I used collaborative challenges for Ts- to model classroom use
A1: we offer PD opportunities to join a district cohort to learn as a group. We hold general PD sessions throughout the year
wait until you see what I have for the playground
. Brilliant idea! Small price to pay for great PD!
A1: As a GAFE District we could REALLY benefit from some . Stipends sound BRILLIANT as an incentive https://t.co/MHSdvjENcQ
Very interesting. Please share more if you're able!
Q2 What's the latest, coolest thing you've learned about in the world?
A1 - provide opportunity for Ts to become T leaders w/ certain levels of certs
it's a good keyboard to have. can't wait for the android implementation.
A2: Google Classroom no longer puts percentages on the assignments FOR THE WIN!!!
A2: Google Spaces looks like it has some cool potential for collaboration
a2: charts inserted into google slides update automatically when data in google sheets updates
A1: My sense is that PLN is incredibly vibrant. Instant PD. Just add support for Ts training https://t.co/wa14aWHdiQ
Ts were able to see how GApps could transform their lessons. Hooked many and inspired them to get certified
I wish this came with audio!
A2 best thing is the flexibility of tools. So many options like GForms for choose your own adventure
. I tried it the day it came out and it was REALLY good.... at crashing! LOL Will give it another try soon.
jealous of your Ts. been gafe for years, most are still just substituting.
here you go beeeeeeep boo beep ggggggrrrrrrr
A2: I've learned that I can feel very passionate about retro technology. i.e. my hatred of the new Forms. GRRR.
A2: I've learned that I can feel very passionate about retro technology. i.e. my hatred of the new Forms. GRRR.
I would have asked "Yahoo still exists?"
Yes, and I can't actually use it with my GAfE account yet, but I tried on my personal and it looks pretty cool
ME TOO! I've been vocal about that.
A2 - excited about using GAFE for Digital.
A2 that Google hasn't change the interface of their apps in 157 days
A2: The more I explore and tinker- the more things I learn about each product. Helps by asking yourself is this the best way?
Substitution needs to go away What are we accomplishing by allowing Ts to make 0 change
Q3 When you think, "Amazing Google Educator," who comes to mind? List as many as u can & let's all follow these Edus!
I so agree. Teachers I know are smart people, of course they can learn something new. https://t.co/OypIgXpQbI
Substitution needs to go away What are we accomplishing by allowing Ts to make 0 change
A2: I LOVE LOVE "Suggest" in Docs. Ts can offer ideas to Ss. Professionals offer tweaks without changes https://t.co/48UrEqbt7V
A3: is my top. I'm on her website at least once a week trying to learn something new.
A2: Really excited to see Android apps on Chromebooks. See what new learning opportunities open up
you know you can use your hotmail account to log into skype.
my favorite is the research tool in docs unbelievable power of citing sources.
A2: A small thing but a cool thing - how to make a table of contents in Google Docs for those long, long documents
I just learned that a few days ago! So handy!
Sean are you talking about what I think you are talking about
And the document outline feature that creates one on the left sidebar out of header text is pretty neat too
the old forms had a setting to create a spreadsheet every time a new form was created
And then turn around and complain Ss are cheating?!? I have a blog post coming on this
Thankfully there are people named who can code and fix that for the rest of us!
I thought that was a given
well our kids can't use their ipads for tests...so it isn't a "problem"
it's still there. Click the icon on the responses
Don't fight tech. Let's stop giving tests and do projects instead
that's been really helpful looking through our GM schedule for and I
A3: is an inspiring Goolge Educator
Has anyone looked at getting the Bing educator cert? It is exactly like educator but with a different name.
we have some teachers give a nice mix of projects and finals
A3: - pushes your thinking when it comes to GApps integration! and are good ones as well
alta vista visionary right here
. is good at anything that contains electrons! One of 's favorite speakers!
This is awesome - I'm trying to build more challenge based & personalized PD for next year
Hello all, Teacher from CT. Just discovered
Q3 https://t.co/rQkWEUmDjc
Q3 When you think, "Amazing Google Educator," who comes to mind? List as many as u can & let's all follow these Edus!
makes sense - It is tough to find some things - not intuitive. Thanks
and unnecessarily-verbose and table-laden technology plans required by the DoE
. Welcome, Wayne! Great to have you with us :)
& when creating units of work with pages of learning sequences, rationales, assessment etc
hey I loved Windows CE. Give me an iPaq any day
windows me was a plane crash. NT wasn't that bad. not good, but not that bad
A3 - Ditto on all others. Also just found
That is great! The best way to show the benefit to Ts is modeling its use and provide hands on time
I rocked the NT for a good while
make the projects lead into the tests. If you can stop testing, augment what leads up to it
Back when you'd have to reboot a machine to change its IP address! LOL
and it took 7-10 minutes to come back up
Was wishing I had Chromebooks this morning. The iMacs loading time is NOT 8 seconds https://t.co/WsogJrXFbz
and it took 7-10 minutes to come back up
you didn't know about that site? some great things there.
A4: A lot of solid cheatsheets for beginners. I good way to introduce Ts and Ss to GApps
i still have Ts that want their windows machines back in their classrooms. smh!
If u know anyone in the NJ/NY area interested in a Google Cert Academy, I'm leading this one in Sparta https://t.co/LK4iOBMoCr
When we first started I did a lot of how-to's on every part of GAFE. Never AGAIN! They need to explore more.
Q5 Chromebooks/ iPad preference? Whay? (keep it friendly, folks! ;)
Why should we be surprised, Ss haven't had computers in the classroom. It's sad we didn't value till now https://t.co/4bpeaYPuNQ
that's what the synergyze extension is for
Is there a Pearson test for GAFE?
A3: obviously Learn as you go...share as you do
Why didn't I know about this?!? Thanks Commodore.
with ipads, Ss have no idea about keyboard shortcuts.
somebody hasn't been seeing my tweets
A5: Chromebooks: Chrome extensions, full versions of Drive apps w/ add-ons, now getting Android apps, many with touch screens
A5 as an OS polygamist, I can go any device direction
A5: Chrimebooks IT department dream
A5 iPads. Easier to use as video camera. App creation still starts at iOS, best multitouch around
A5: chromebooks due to storage size and functionality...as I type from my iPad that's attached to my hip.
a5: chromebooks all day any day. if apple ever lets users set default apps, then maybe i'll give some praises. some.
Definitely prefer iPads for creative side, and lack of breakable parts. For tech dept, less maintenance.
any body got a palm pilot
Agree 100% Looks awkward turning a chromebook around to film, huh? LOL
I actually do. I don't know why, but I still know where it is in my drawer
A5 - depends on the work to be done. Agree w/ on iPad for creativity. In the end, probably Chromebooks.
FunnyQ Could Chewbacca or R2D2 use an iPad? Would touch be an issue?
many kids have a smartphone in their pockets for capturing video. ipad is pretty good for video when comparing to chromebook.
I have a whole box of them. I use to be PALM's east coast GUY
Chromebooks like the CTL models have 180 degree webcams
A5: From the genius files of "iPads help us skip the S/A of SAMR + fast forward to the M/R https://t.co/ougZQ4FTfa
Definitely prefer iPads for creative side, and lack of breakable parts. For tech dept, less maintenance.
Are there touchscreen Chromebooks? Thought I heard they were coming Touchscreen on iPads is huge advantage
A5: No pref yet b/c the cbooks are coming in '17. Looking for some freePD online though and recs for cbook gurus.
there is the flip from asus and acer makes one too. both rotate to form a "tablet" surface.
New nonprofit trying to get word out 2 teachers $1k scholarship + motivational talk. No cost to school https://t.co/994imJZj4c
I'm glad is coming to my school in August, b/c I have a few Ts still stuck on S/A on iPads
Yes, the one I have is touchscreen. Flips 180º tablet style too. I've used it once.
Yep, CBs have had touchscreens for a while now. Prices in the mid-200's for them
my chromebook pixel($) has a touchscreen too.
So Chewy, R2-D2 and Joba walk in to an Apple Store,....
If any school starting w/ Chromebooks doesn't choose touchscreen - BAD DECISION!!
A5: iPad as it allows more flexibility to create for my Ss. It's simplicity for me is key
especially with android apps coming to chromebooks in the fall.
A5: The right tool for the right moment. Totally depends on the activity
Q6 What are some of your favorite Chrome extensions? Post links.
At this point with the addition of Android apps, touchscreens will become the norm for CBs
Definitely a game changer and blurring the lines between devices.
I'd say but it's being discontinued
R2 would do commands by bluetooth
Is there a touchscreen model you heart bigtime?
Well said. Creativity & simplicity.
a5: i'd hate for your ipad to break and you didn't pay for icloud storage so you could restore on new ipad. not an issue with CB
Chromebooks are the biggest no brainer in education in my opinion
A6 screencastify by a narrow margin
A6: I love my checker plus for gmail, formfuze, and .
Like the story when you say a name 3 times the ghost appears That's how appears too
a6: uBlock origin to block ads
A6: readability and of course colourpicker
a6: for me, "new tabs always last" is great for my chrome tab workflow.

. I never assume ANYTHING w/ computers & my Ss. I am explicit in all teaching. https://t.co/zL5E80L8Zh
Why should we be surprised, Ss haven't had computers in the classroom. It's sad we didn't value till now https://t.co/4bpeaYPuNQ
: Endless amount of resources on GApps- there is also a chrome ext or add-on for just about everything. Explore!
