Today's Topic: What would be the advantage of replacing grades with digital portfolio assessment? Let's Begin!
NOW Topic: What would be the advantage of replacing grades with digital portfolio assessment?
Integrating schools by socioeconomics gains momentum and could have powerful impact on learning https://t.co/DJQla093hj
better, it's not about the grade, it's about the skills learned
Topic: What would be the advantage of replacing grades with digital portfolio assessment?
I love group storytelling! I love it even more when it builds skills! Thanks for sharing https://t.co/D0aVuKGTmg
Each person in each faction adds 2 a story that shows empathy and enthusiasm 2 learn about PDL https://t.co/ORZ2H72pgE
I'm a fan of both--in some cases the portfolio is too slow a process, in other instances grades are too shallow.
Wondering what awesome thing happened in your school or class today. Anyone have a good one?
:) My Ss actually were very upset at the way he made fun of a disabled individual.
Grades don't tell us very much. DPs would give more rich information and could be shared with stakeholders "real time"
Grades are a promise of potential, while a portfolio is a record of proven skills.
Agree... so what's all the fizz about? Why can't we all get along?
I don't comment about specific candidates--hold ideal line that the best person will win, people have right to vote.
Better data for teachers, schools, policy makers but esp the students.
great opportunity w/ dig portfolios is Ss can showcase their work - prouder of work than a letter on a transcript (Kelly NJ)
Makes sense... so what preventing a shift?
A1:Digital portfolio assessment instead of grades allows students to focus/reflect on growth over time rather than 1 grade at a time
UNDERWAY Topic: What would be the advantage of replacing grades with digital portfolio assessment?
Our Ss create a showcase portfolio--it's a great piece when it comes to setting goals, discussing effort.
agreed, a grade can simply tell how well a student cheated not how hard they worked themselves
All the twitter chats, conference sessions, blog posts, podcasts and voxer messages mean very little without action behind them.
I'm looking to use so my students can generate their portfolios and show their colleges
Unlike traditional assessments, portfolios are process based and show growth throughout time, not just an average
Learning is a continuum. Eportfolios provide a flexible, living record of what Ss "know and can do."
So important that skill development is focus especially in elementary years!
I agree--we use showcase portfolios, in part, sometimes though I like a score as it's a quick touchstone about a skill.
Makes sense... so what's the big fuzz? Let's get going...
The Internet (and cloud) make student work easily shareable, accessible, and organizable… and makes e-portfolios attractive.
Just read 's "Hacking Assessment" on going gradeless. Lots of good ideas!
employers, they care about what grade is on your transcript.
dig portfolios might also so a students progress "better" than a typical grade.
I think that's great. I do think every high school Ss should have an ePortfolio.
Cool... How's that working for you?
When the 💡 goes off for a struggling student...best day ever! This is why we do what we do.
no advantage if its just replacing one for another. Throwing out grades is a bigger opportunity than that
Curious..does throw out the topic and participants respond with thoughts--no formal list of Q and A's?
Eportfolios should be more than showcase. Should reveal a Ss learning journey.
So true, but often a conversation leads to new action, ideas.
There is much to be said for the reflective thinking process used by students in selecting their work to include in a portfolio.
I'm sold... let's get going. What's the next step?
And digital portfolios can stay with students across a lifetime of learning. Don't have to be course-based like grades or LMS.
Grades have been subjectively awarded.Dig port will at least give an idea of actual work and ability
Grades are to reassure and pacify parents. A digital portfolio assessment would be a true indicator of ability level.
Curious, have you noted chats that do not represent action? Any one area?
BIG issue re student portfolios…how public to make them? Thoughts?
makes sense... does your school's tech infrastructure have capacity to handle the load? All kids have enough tech access?
is an open forum chat. We have found it to be more organic and giving a greater voice to participants.
True, I have ePortfolio--it's a great resource for grants, jobs, evaluation, etc. A running record of goals, accomplishment
Interested in hearing more about this. What goes into the portfolio? Who chooses - do we be an artifact for each standard?
Electronic portfolios seems very appealing…BUT LOTS OF TECHNICAL ISSUES MUST WE WORKED OUT for them to work well. Agree?
Electronic portfolios…what happens when a students doesn’t have access outside school?
GRADES: So how would that IMPACT K-3, 4-8 , 9-12? At what point/level does the work have to be turned into a ?
We need courses in how to use e-portfolios. We also need more e-portfolio products.
I agree Tom. There's a developmental curve to the depth of portfolios that needs to be considered too.
Really? Why wouldn't a parent want a better, more true indicator?
. Teacher sets paramiters & students make the choices to include.
Not sure the electronic system would work for my students. But interested in hearing about it.
Agreed! Employers would love to see this more than a letter of the alphabet on a piece of fancy paper.
I think thats why is good b/c teacher monitors ALL before it "goes out there". Ts have more control
An interesting read via on whether or not the benefits of bilingualism live up to the claims: https://t.co/bGOcAl8OVf
I like both the digital and hand-held portfolios--I think for the younger set either one can work.
Older set should probably have both still as some are not ready for digital portfolios.
. There are several Apps available. Yes, we always need PD to be relevant.
Electronic portfolios promote collaboration.
we have chromebooks that we can use for the period when necessary - and SM creates a Google site for Ss to house work
agree... does your school/district have sufficient tech to handle such portfolio?
shaping opinions can be a very important first step, lack of action does not necessarily mean lack of progress :)
Grades for some tchrs are a tool to punish/reward or to control students. Journeying to another form of assessment is a journey.
Christopher, have you created an ePortfolio for yourself, that might be a good first step to try it out.
I feel that a digital and physical portfolio would best serve students as they allow them to learn both mediums.
I wonder what Ss would choose vs. what Ts would choose - do you include both? have diff sections?
At our school, we typically have children reflect on signature projects and include some evidence of that.
FREE software and cloud space…come with risks. What are the dangers of the risks for student portfolios? Just asking…
Our county is shifting to . Easy to create folders, organize and share
because most only understand the traditional letter grade. All about the honor roll.
Great... why not more popular? What's taking so long?
We give some open choice too so Ss can choose work they deem to be their best, work they are proud of.
. Many parents want what will get their child more than what helps them learn
ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT is a longstanding issue for the field of education. What will it take to get it resolved once and for all?
Something to show aptitude and capability. You can tell a lot by a portfolio
I agree--I asked because some have questioned me on "repetition" but I find I need that to embed new practice.
wonder if this would work for us at PTE!?
some Ss end up feeling bad about themselves b/c of grades - would dig port help change their self-esteem?
I try to monitor my own writing and action. I will say that the writing leads the action, I'm always trying to keep up
I believe grades impede learning for all students. The grade is either the carrot or stick.
So if better then why not happening at scale? And rapidly?
lack of training for sure Ts need to learn how before they can show Ss
. To some degree any grade level could be done. It might be a good way to introduce, increase and perfect over a few yrs.
I write, then act typically. I can imagine that some probably act, then write.
Grades-sometimes used to behavior instead of inform acquisition of https://t.co/7MN6y5dkQF do we universally redefine?
We do, but I find that my Ss and parents seem to prefer the hand-held portfolios at grade 5.
ASK YOURSELF WITH LOTS and lots of problems with tests and testing…why can’t the field of education come up with something better?
it never will be rectified while there are too many powers to be. common core cant even be introduced right
Anyone use maybe this would work better for elementary as a portfolio system?
I've created digital eportfolios w/Ss, but there's something powerful about turning the pages, seeing the handwriting
lagging... ppl are not quick to change... anything :(
Many of Ss projects, work are on YouTube too--we share those weekly via newsletters.
Alfie Cohen says,"Grades tend to diminish students’ interest in whatever they’re learning.”…do you agree or disagree? On what basis?
HELP me understand…what does an A, B, C, D or F grade really mean? So many answers. Have letter grades lost their meaning?
Grades have been known to be used for punitive purposes. Portfolios eliminate that.
The traditional letter grade assessment is very misleading. If I had my way there would never be another report card sent home.
For too many Ss, learning stops when they receive a grade. Dig port is about ongoing learning, reflection and growth
depends if you want to use grades as a statistic or as a measure of improvement and deficiency etc
In conjunction with shift in grading practices, eportfolios become an optimal reporting system. https://t.co/5g8pF65EPx
some Ss end up feeling bad about themselves b/c of grades - would dig port help change their self-esteem?
Research supports other assessment methods, but I'm not sure why we don't embrace them
From where do we need the "buy-in" in order for the idea to gain traction?
Have you used hand held portfolios?
Do portfolios make learning/proof of learning less ephemeral? Does simply having a portfolio reinforce the learning?
, it means I can go out w/ friends or have a good night, or I'm grounded for life. I think that's what Ss see...
I teach 5th and have done it with fourth.
Yes!if the teacher isn't keeping one make your own;Students may be encouraged to self select samples of work https://t.co/iTwPq61eOi
Grades are a promise of potential, while a portfolio is a record of proven skills.
Schools, students, districts, teachers…NO SHORTAGE OF GRADES… how’s that working for us?
I wish all schools had a uniform, give a sense of pride and identity ,cut clothing bill down and not feel like a mall
Should self-assessments be used more in summative grading?
It's especially nice when a child presents his/her portfolio to family members--very special.
A grade creates a ceiling to learning. Kids will typically stop working once they have reached an A.
We have to be careful they don't end up a digital dumping ground. Need protocols for curating.
I think there are so many different ways for educators to learn, collaborate--so many right ways.
higher chance of success for students with learning disabilities
opened the door for me to a broader PLN way back when--that's why I'm committed to it.
opened the door for me to a broader PLN way back when--that's why I'm committed to it.
I asked my daughter if her grade really reflected what she knew- she said, "How can it"
A, B, C, D, F basically means is the student promoted or retained?
I think it's what parents want too - many are new to this country and just want to know how to get the A. A=success
Yet I honor the more intimate chats and collaboration that many do too--many paths to good work.
Yes, parents take SO much OWNERSHIP of . It's their A or C or F. A reflection of their own childhood.
I do believe letter grades can hinder growth--if I get a 100 does that make me an expert? Artificial confidence.
You are highly regarded wherever you collaborate--good to have you here tonight.
How much do standard grades inform students at school?
My beautiful Angelina wrote a heartwarming story with . Please read, share, and comment! ...
I see like . They are great intros and often great convos can still happen there.
Quick shameless plug while I participate in Check my new blog!! https://t.co/pc8sDuKKdo Teaching Coaching, it's all there :)

grades arent the be all, especially if the grades are not assessing what we are wanting to know
Yes. Even with standards based report cards, I don't understand how my son was actually assessed.
replacing grades with digital portfolios is an interesting idea that many people may have not thought of before
I know it was mentioned but Hacking Assessment might be great for this , haven't finished book but... great topic
I think change is happening--I see it. Staff had our first unconference as PD recently, that signaled + change for me.
GRADES or portfolios? What do parents want? Students? Teachers? Employers? Who is asking? What’s the answer?
Kevin from Ireland a Teching Principal.Useless text books are destroy creativity.Lets teach from the heart for lifelong learning
depends on purpose? Show Ss that they can grow academically over time thru high quality work? Don't sort them w it?
I'd recommend starting small. We stop every now and then for reflection lessons/days--Ss work on portfolios.
An honest self analysis of the wonderful world of marking, marking and more marking, what is your https://t.co/HkmVAZqTmV
Agree--when I find I need the support to fuel the good work--hard to do it alone.
letter grades are products; grades should be about communicating progress.
then possibly integrate both so that the grade stands for more than just a pass or fail
I like the idea but it might be hard to implement
simple, money Big Business supports politicians to put assessments/new texts/curric thru 2 make more money, $ makes $
What does the assessment process for the portfolios look like? How does student/tchr demonstrate ?
one downfall to the digital portfolio would be the lack of internet for students who live in low income areas
Time for districts to hold a sit-down and hash out the future & what's best for 21st century learners
What's your big focus right now? For me it's embedding "soft skills" into good learning design, math instruction.
they value education and want to achieve the best they can
at one point there was a roadblock to digital gradebooks too?
Yes - self assessments should be used more in summative grading - important for students to self-reflect & use meta-cognitive skills
Important consideration, Josh. Thanks for pointing that out to all--Our actions do speak louder than words.
It's time for us to reimagine school/classroom design...
"The Best Kindergarten You’ve Ever Seen" https://t.co/cF6y2E5iJe
what you know and how to pass a test. have a look in the real world and see who does a decent job
I love self assessments as they really take you into a child's mind, experience, needs, interests.
if portfolios are use in any other way than to help students grow then they are truly a waste of time.
At conferences, parents like the self assessments the best.
Standards based portfolios utilized resulting in more engaged and informed students and parents
I agree, because many students may not have computer skills or the proper knowledge to complete the task
I suggest starting with a hand held eportfolio and then using some class tools to showcase Ss work digitally.
I often used digital portfolios for reflection, collaboration and future suggestions.
As a parent I want evaluated growth with checkpoints via a portfolio especially writing. Not for All content.
Ask yourself, if reporting of grades/showing assessments is only done as proof of learning, they are a waste of tmental capacity
Our YouTube channel features a lot of class learning, learning that inspires Ss year to year.
I agree completely, it's a great idea
Watching my feed on my way home and realizing what an awesome tool it is for reflection
I totally agree with this, and I believe they need to include the learning team in the conversation.
I believe that even with portfolios a rubric is necessary
. There is a great deal to be said of how effective learning becomes when students take ownership of their learning
Looking forward to talking all about classroom culture tmrw during ! All are welcome to join in on the fun!
Learning team: students, families, educators, leaders, and community members.
Excellent question. This is where I believe the standards/assessment types work together.
me too... many dimensions, complex undertaking...
I still remember my "test" from 9th grade science- a test tube of sludge-we had to identify every element using info we learned
as a student i would prefer portfolios just because some grades have no meaning
It seems like letter grades these days are to determine which students can get into college
When we sit down portfolio is evidence of Ss interest/work scores on tests provide a focus on skills/growth
well... don't you think it should matter?
What if kids didn't have to prove their learning? What if teachers could focus on the convos around learning instead of reporting?
I feel like we have traveled down both roads. Perhaps the answer is neither, but something completely different
no meaning, ha... that's a serious understatement.
How? Why? 5 years later who is asking to see my transcript/portfolio? No one.
This is really important, yet in the past before all these tests, some Ss slipped under the radar--Balance imp.
In the "real world" how do you prove you have learned something?
we need to do something... current approach is chaotic. Must do better...
because portfolios can be used for students to be informed of learning (also reflection) Grades not so much
The research related to giftedness is integral to our efforts to teach all children well.
...and from the Ss' perspective, who "owns" grades? Who "owns" a portfolio?
do they prefer the portfolio or the creative process, feedback and reflection a portfolio provides?
Honestly, I'm not sure. I love learning stuff, I'm curious, but I don't want nor need to be assessed/judged about it.
In order to have requirements and goals. Future jobs don't want employees working willy nilly
@debwhite@ShiftParadigm isn't the idea that it would help you grow & reflect & thus not need the portfolio to prove your capabable?
What about both--not one or the other, but right mix for context.
Grading is . Getting rid of idea is a JOURNEY4 parents, students, AND teachers.
and if you don't find your own portfolio valuable then maybe it was simply a 'have to' situation?
Do those of us who see it this way have an obligation to challenge superficial exchanges in the space?
Digital portfolios get at the purpose of grading - communication. Would need rubrics and reflections to achieve full potential
Yet if you keep your ePortfolio up to date as active doc, it can serve you well.

I think both are important--I love to type, I love to write by hand too.
so we need rubric to get kids ready for work? Maybe business shoudl supplement our income then ;)
Well... yes! Habits of mind, mathematics, logic, security & strategy... the list is endless. https://t.co/2I4LU3nq0q
cool... a one off or scalable approach?
Especially for note taking, I think there's often value in the hand-mind connection.
. My experience is Ss take ownership of outstanding grades and blame teachers for anything less.
Yet, I believe children should have choice as to how they want to write in most cases.
Hashtags could work. Ss define what they learned, skill gained. Hashtags would expand the learning.
. I find it interesting that everyone other than the learner feels the need for proof of learning ;)
Absolutely NOT. Handwriting became a substitute for cognition/content instead of motor skill
I think we continue to try and tweek an outdated system.
I'm not objecting... we need to get there and do so quickly...taking too long, wasting too many lives...
there lies the value then :)
Even teachers/admin are evaluated (even though we dislike it)
Agree. What Ts choose to grade isn't always relevant; gives indication learning is finished; becomes motivation not the learning.
developing dig port sounds more challenging than earning that ABCDF - & I think that's good for Ss to do, evaluate their own work
Why not. Challenge, when respectful, is almost always thought provoking.
Planning a PD session for teachers regarding Google Classroom. What are the best features you use in your class?
When I learn something I rarely feel the need to prove I learned it to someone else (unless it is trivia ;)
Another good point--do you write a blog, if so, I want to follow.
i think letter grades are not always a good reflection of how hard students may work & may cause them to lose interest in learning
Maybe learners in school simply don't like being told to prove they learned something?
I agree; but some tchrs could NOT separate from
Indeed and how many years has this conversation been going on? Enough, let's kill the beast and get on...
Would love to read more (longer reflection) pieces on the role of in education.
Please join for tonight at 7pm Central. TOPIC: "Reading & Writing in Science & Social Studies."
If the student gets good grades it is down to them and so if they get bad grades the same should follow
scalable approach with continued formative assessments
You bring up a good point too, Norman, sometimes our writing gives us the strength to keep trying.
Agreed, using both digital and physical is crucial. I come from a family that struggled for years to afford a computer
I completely agree and great point!!
If grades used punitively, is issue with the pun. use or the user who creates/chooses/employs this usage? https://t.co/wzSuuU2Afh
Grades have been known to be used for punitive purposes. Portfolios eliminate that.
As a result I was behind for years and had to travel to public libraries daily to complete school work.
I think it's sometimes also true that Ts take ownership for Ss outstanding grades and blame Ss for less.
How many years will it take b4 we UNDERSTAND what we R giving up? Penmanship vs keyboarding
Somebody needs to build a device that can see student learning as it happens. '
In reality education is supplemented by local business.
I think letter grades provides extra motivation and goals for students.
I got some good info on this from and
- other thought... cheating... hard to do w/ portfolio work but kids do it often on other graded work, right?
Recommend Dan Pink's book on motivation titled Drive. https://t.co/qRW74oLWwO
I think letter grades provides extra motivation and goals for students.
I have always been troubled by the often subjective nature of grades. We eliminated grades when I was an elem. P.
I want lots more supplementing :)
When a child is truly engaged in the learning-they will continue to think & explore because it is meaningful, regardless of a grade.
Adults don't take responsibility for such things. In real world kids are less responsible than adults They're kids
we never understand until it is too late. Just look at calligraphy.
David, for some Ss and in some circumstances I agree. Like most things ed, it's not a "one size fits all"
we can talk "ownership", but ... nothing is more effective than a parent checking at home
Video is one step in this direction. Sometimes when I video, then rewatch I see so much w/regard to Ss learning exp.
think about the database we would have of what "mastery" of any standard looks like, versus - 'Here is a 79%.'
that would be easier, so much time and mental capacity is wasted on grading/reporting for students and teachers
I always say to Ss, "If everyone gets a low grade" who really needs help--yes, the teacher.
I always put grades - positive and negative at the Ss feet at the beginning of the course
We're at a point now where we should be able to make up the difference at school.
But WIFI issues and other issues make it difficult.
Any finlit teachers in the group tonight?
Best feeling today ... seeing a kid sharing information about what we are studying from a book she checked out from public library.
You helped us a lot--we have a meeting planned.
. I often think the reason for grades getting such unfounded support is that they become bragging rights for parents.
especially in the upper grades and honors/AP courses
Kids will learn if they are engaged in the subject matter ... good luck to those teachers with unappealing subjects.
Grades=really from industrial school model to teach Ss to submit to -prepare 4 prosperous life in factory/ofc
Good ?s Portfolios aren't easy, but rich reps of work. My Ss & Ps preferred, but requires frequent feedback https://t.co/JeUHxowTTZ
GRADES or portfolios? What do parents want? Students? Teachers? Employers? Who is asking? What’s the answer?
Yet, Ss hate their voices at first on video--if we expect from them, we have to do it too.
ironically, I suppose parents think they are comparable, but really quite subjective.
Seeing ourselves online, hearing our voices is a learning curve.
We'll get back to you if we have more questions--thanks!
I am a proponent of reporting on content and "citizenship" mastery separately. I can be a jerk and still know math.
"flat line" - mean you just have to accept?
Did you really? I would have loved it there!! What did you use to determine if a child is moving along the needed area
It's also contingent upon the school itself, small catholic/private middle schools have very limited funds for tech.
Yes, they are/were a mirror reflection of the job parents were doing with their child(ren)
Not sure they ever had meaning we just assumed they did. https://t.co/w9TEJ08UNW
HELP me understand…what does an A, B, C, D or F grade really mean? So many answers. Have letter grades lost their meaning?
Ubiquitous internet with very low cost or free access is coming, probably within 5 years.
Grades are something that are a tradition in education, most have experienced them - for society that is a hard concept to change
Yes and no--sometimes the "competencies" don't cover what Ss are really learning, desiring to know.
I need some teachers to trial a personal finance resource (moneymanagement) with their students https://t.co/q36WXMaIW2
Not only grades, but "My child is in Hon or AP" also a parental bragging point
We do report on those separately on our standards based reports.
The petition to remove the ed defunding governor of Kentucky passed 6000 signatures a while ago. https://t.co/DPpDyS1oIJ
We did S/T goal setting and clear rubrics. We also moved to student-led conferenceing. The Ss truely owned thir learning
more fun when i "caught" her ... she said her momma made her check out two books so it wasn't special (still sharing)
Agree--have to make time for it in the schedule. Profits from a system created at start of year.
Yet sometimes a quick quiz can show me where we need to go w/o a lot of time.
Got to work on soft skills and not just on test scores would love to see youth show intitiative too
At turn of 20thC, it was hard for society to accept automobiles. What's wrong with the horse? https://t.co/ZiBorIm7J7
Grades are something that are a tradition in education, most have experienced them - for society that is a hard concept to change
Last century we called them citizenship. I might suggest calling them the important stuff!
These are important considerations, Brandon.
:) We can't be all things!!!!
My teacher prep program utilized a digital portfolio of artifacts we constructed &
I still say that until we come to a consensus on teh purpose of school we will still have the same convos about what/how we teach.
her mom needs an award for taking her to library and encouraging book reading
I loved getting the kids to show me the money, the more they knew, the bigger the bill. QUick way to see
I have mirrors all over my room to aid in reflective learning and teaching.
And because I'm handsome.
Sad to say, but I wish it stopped at just parents. It goes throughout much of the system.
Yet, can there be a consensus given our vast diversity of contexts--I think big idea is to prepare Ss for a good life
Is all learning measurable?
Yes, we have to have a means of measuring and rubrics provide explicit feedback https://t.co/WvrmnIyIfz
I believe that even with portfolios a rubric is necessary
Great Thanks out to the team of moderators & my friends . Thanks too to all who participated.
I had Teacher candidates create portfolio, one they can continue to add to
Like the concept of time, grades are an INDUSTRIAL ECONOMY/SCHOOL invention. will take time.
try to get a consensus on the definition of a good life (let alone a good world)
In the movie, "Most Likely to Succeed" they called it "soft skills" - we call "social competency"
Thanks for leading us forward, Tom! joined in too with his wonderful humor and insights!
If we could create a course and a test we might have a chance of fixing humanity
Approximately 92.4% of teachers spend their own money on their students or classrooms.

Well it's a serious understatement but it's true! https://t.co/79olILxWj7
no meaning, ha... that's a serious understatement.
Grades are part of parent, teachers, and students' . Not ready for the pain of the
a good friend & mentor once said "if you can see it, you can assess it." - important for the purpose of feedback.
Does all learning have to be measurable to be considered learning?
Myth #1: Kids won't do homework if it's not for points. What kind of homework is being assigned is the key.
I totally agree with this! Humbles me and makes me a better teammate too.
Very good continues over next couple days on . Feel free to join us! 2 questions a day Tue - Thu.
ours is lifetime & can be updated & tailored for different needs.
I think classroom emphasis on the use and purpose of public libraries is crucial to informing students of resources.
We can start in our own contexts, but I'd begin with basic needs, freedom, clean environment.. .
Like that focus--that's where I'm at as a parent.
is it appropriate to dedicate class time to teaching students in need about how to access these resources?
Myth #2: Kids learn responsibility by losing points for missing deadlines. When we put deadlines above learning, we hurt kids.
Schools/Universities all about those honor rolls and deans lists ... it is system wide.
Grades=whatever tchr SELLS to Ss & Parents. Best to communicate criteria 4 success in advance to avoid source of conflict
I overlooked a key moderator on our team. I apologize and greatly appreciate your contributions.
I don't ever want to go back to grades. What do we do in the real world? Create, evaluate and iterate? Or? https://t.co/Dy2fKGNAkT
I feel like we have traveled down both roads. Perhaps the answer is neither, but something completely different
It's about finding out who you are, what you want, and then not being afraid to move in that direction.
start by not giving the student the page number and go from there. too much spoon feeding. Yes to libraries
Agree! That would make a great Twitter Public Service message.
I could have used that message as a young girl.
Teachers' contract days don't include time working at home — some up to 16 hours grading dozens of essays.
that is a great question- I learn things all the time but never formally measure my own learning.
You need to at least tell me when you change your Twitter Pic.
Do you really think people aren't thinking--hard for me to imagine since it's my passion.
Myth #3: All work must be done collaboratively & with a group. Some kids need quiet & need space to get deep w/ thinking.
Students could save a ton of money by using the library and not buying textbooks
What a great priority to have in our classrooms! https://t.co/lOWi5HYPQ7
