A1: For CISD, DigitalEquity4All is an initiative to provide equal access to technology and learning, no matter their socioeconomic situation. High speed internet access is seen by many a basic human right. CISD is doing everything we can to provide access to our kids.

You're absolutely right! It is a necessity! Today I was at a local business establishment and they wanted me to unplug and put my cell phone in a locked case type thing. Oddly enough, I met a friend there to collaborate on an online resource with her using a QR code. #txeduchat

A2: In CISD we are 1:1 but that only addresses part of the equity issues for Ss. I'm excited that we are in the second stage of providing safe, filtered internet service so our students can ALL use their devices at home to connect to the content. #txeduchat#castleberryisd

A3: Data networks and their devices have become such a powerful tool that the last few years I did not notice a difference in these families. The issue would arise occasionally with websites that did not have a mobile version but those are becoming more rare. #txeduchat

A3: Many of our families in our district only had mobile-only hot spots to allow their sts to use their 1:1 devices, often causing issues because of data overages. Providing free, filtered internet to our students eases the restrictions the mobile-only device posed. #txeduchat

A7: Before fully answering determining this, the district would need to consider the size, how many students are without Internet/device access at home, and much more. From there, investigate the options. What is a good solution for #castleberryisd won't work for all. #txeduchat
#txeduchat#castleberryisd A8 The first key to digital divide is to make sure every S has a device to take home. With this in mind, our district began a 5 year plan in 2011 to ensure that every 6-12 student had a dedicated device to take home. We are now extending this to 3-5

A7: Devices in the hands of the students is one thing but teachers with the training and the vision to incorporate them into meaningful learning is where districts need to start. This is more powerful than any amount of money spent on the technology. #txeduchat

This is a classroom mngt issue like all others. Provide outlets in the classroom and enforce consequences. It’s rare I have multiple ss without their device. And most activities work on mobile but not as easy, so they bring them. #TxEduChat#CastleberryISD
A8: Don't know if is what's being asked but-minimize the tedious aspects of device/technology management for teachers & students. Their energy & time need to be devoted to teaching & learning not remembering multiple usernames & passwords or curating a bookmark folder. #txeduchat
