Hi my name is Laura Beth and I am a Special Education graduate student at Kent State University and am currently working in Akron as a teacher #ohedchat
#ohedchat Jerry Toups aka #JediOfBeleive HS Math Tr from the Houston, TX area. <3 my job! Since I started teaching in 1990 my 1st rule has been #AlwaysBelieve In Yourself. #ItWorks
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
Hello! I’m Ally Ackley and a student at Kent State University studying early childhood education. I spent the day doing homework and watching Netflix! #ohedchat
A1 I always try to lead with my Heart & make people feel noticed. Whenever possible, I leave surprises, little notes, cookies or other small gifts so people feel welcomed. Tomorrow for a new semester all my students are getting motivational letters & received mail outs. #OHedchat
Good evening -- I'm Brandon Farrar - Spanish and leadership teacher in a high school in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Just got word that we are having a 2 hour delayed opening due to the cold! #ohedchat
A1: I think maintaining a good relationship and rapport with the students and staff at your school is very important. Sharing what is going on in your life, your likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc. allows for more open communication between channels and builds trust. #ohedchat
A1 I share my thoughts with staff in person and in our weekly nuts and bolts, and I share with our students at monthly assemblies. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. #OHedChat
A1: I’m not afraid to share about my life. Understanding the fine line, but making sure Ss and others know the “human side” of me. It allows authentic connections. #OHedchat
A1: I am transparent. I am authentic. I am real. What you see is what you get. I don't always do such a good job at hiding my emotions or feelings. With that being said, people feel comfortable around me. #OHEdChat
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
A1: I share my heart with the community in my school by making sure that everyone is noticed and that I have good relationships with everyone. #ohedchat
#ohedchat A1 My #BelieveSelfies are the highlight of a kids day. The smile when they get to hold the famous red #believe sign. It's a #bigdeal to end up on the wall!
A1: Self-disclosure, letting kids and others get to know you as a person is a connection creator. When they learn you don’t sleep in the lounge and have a life outside school they are drawn to want to know more. #ohedchat#Significant72
A1: I've learned that being honest and open about why I'm there is key. Kids don't always think we're there because we truly do care about them, not just their learning but as people. #ohedchat
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
A1: My Ss are my 🌎!! I not only tell them but also show them that I ❤️ and care about them! I spend time building relationships & doing all I can to ensure that they know “You Matter”! #OHedchat
A1: Technology is an easy way to communicate quickly but nothing beats good face to face time. Being around all parts of the school community as much as possible #OHEdChat
A1: I allow my Ss to know who I am outside of school-it's important they know that teachers lead real lives too in the highs and lows of life! I am an open book with my thoughts, ideas, and life events. This allows for more personal connections with Ss & colleagues #OHedChat
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
A1: I build a relationship with each of my kiddos. I take advantage of opportunities to share with them such as eating lunch with them, greeting them with a hug, and swinging at recess! #OHedchat
A1 share the happy life moments with them! I love to post "personal" insta posts so they think they're sort of connected with my not school side. When you ask about their plans/weekends, share too! #OhEdChat
A1: I think it’s important to be relatable - to show that you “get it”. In the end, what we all want is for the people we love to be safe and happy. In the midst of all the ‘administrivia’, never let people doubt that you know what really matters. #ohedchat
#ohedchat A1:lead with the heart, show emotion in my facial expressions, using non-verbal communication to convey emotion. I am ending all of my emails with "keep smiling" now. I also thank my department and students at then of every meeting/class/email
I learned in student teaching that it's okay to pause and check in with a student who doesn't seem to be his/her usual self. Those connections and touchpoints are so important for showing care and compassion. #ohedchat
#ohedchat A1 part 2 Your mere presence should be welcome to the kids at your school. Love the kids and watch your influence of the kids grow. ROLE MODEL LOVE AND KINDNESS! Your job will generate joy!
A1: This is done by showing your passion about whatever it is that makes you "tick." By being our honest selves, I think we gain the respect of our students and colleagues #ohedchat
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
I made it! I was busy dealing with this little muffin... 😳 #OhEdChat I’m Laurie, #Kindergarten teacher in Alberta, Canada! Thanks for the invite @NowakRo
Q2: Building HOPE asks us to keep an Open mind with our interactions and pedagogical choices.
When planning learning for ALL students, how do you keep an open mind towards the diverse needs of your students?
#ohedchat
A1: Most recently, ways I try to show heart at school is by:
♥️ Raising money for a student whose mom has cancer (to help with the medical bills)
♥️ Bringing a sick coworker soup🥣
♥️ Surprising my partner with homemade banana nut muffins🍌
♥️ Giving a student a book📖
#OHEdChat
A2 When planning, I try to keep many choices available for my students. I try not to impose assessments but helps guide student choices. They need many different types and ways to show that they have learned. I want to cater to the different needs of each student. #OHedchat
#OHedchat A2 projects with lots of design & making elements that allow for individuality and highlighting personal skills & interests... and some subject content too
A1: you need to show pride in your school and work. Listen to Ss and Ts...value their input. Learn about them and find at least one thing you share in common to find a connection. #OhEdChat
A2 I like to think of all of the friends I have and how different they are. They each need something different from me. Our students all need something different from us, too. Get to know them and you will reach them. #OHEdChat
A2: At the beginning of the year/semester I talked with my Ss about learning styles, preferences, etc. Made notes and a “Key”. When I did lessons I made sure to incorporate the elements of the “Key” strategically. #OHedchat
A2: Have I planned for multiple entry points to the lesson for the range of strengths and needs? Are there opportunities to work with the material in different ways--verbally, in writing, graphically? Have I tapped into student interests as much as possible? #ohedchat
A2: Every student has a STORY (Strengths, Tendencies, Opportunities, Resources, Yearnings)- we must know them well to teach them well. Without knowing this, we can’t challenge them in they ests they deserve. #Significant72#ohedchat
A1: I share my heart with others with small acts of #kindness to brighten their day. I share by asking “how can I help?” and follow through with what is needed. I share by having a positive attitude and by welcoming others. ❤️ #OhEdChat
A2: when planning learning, the first thing you need to do is know how your Ss learn. You need to have an understanding of their needs. Find interests and connections. #OhEdChat
A2: Definitely knowing your audience plays a key role in teaching. Knowing the students' backgrounds and interests and connecting that to the content allows for a more effective lesson overall. They are interested and connected to the material. #ohedchat
A2: at the beginning of the year Ss filled out a card with 3 strengths and 1 weakness. They also created a passion wall.
I keep the 4C’s in mind when planning lessons, but I also build@in choices with their strengths and passions in mind. #OHedChat
A2: To keep an open mind for diverse needs, I have begun to experiment with looser parameters in terms of allowing Ss to chose the final product that they want to create to show their learning. I also have been implementing more choice of content to capture interest. #ohedchat
A2: first you need to know your students. Next, good instruction includes differentiation that allows for remediation, extensions, and the way we present information. We all know resources need to be varied for different abilities as well.
#ohedchat
A2: I try to plan lessons and activities that will appeal to all learners. I've recently experimented with #HyperDocs with my 9th grade classes, which is enabling me to give students much more choice and control over their learning #ohedchat
Q2: Building HOPE asks us to keep an Open mind with our interactions and pedagogical choices.
When planning learning for ALL students, how do you keep an open mind towards the diverse needs of your students?
#ohedchat
A2) background knowledge is such a crucial part of middle school diversity. Always ask questions about background knowledge, or give enough choice that it is irrelevant
#ohedchat
Q2: Building HOPE asks us to keep an Open mind with our interactions and pedagogical choices.
When planning learning for ALL students, how do you keep an open mind towards the diverse needs of your students? #ohedchat
A2: Students learn best in so many different ways. Cater to the needs of individual students, and the class as a whole. #ohedchathttps://t.co/YZ8G2kMV9S
A2: Being aware of what students need and how they prefer to receive help is the most important part. Always include multiple ways of explaining things in lessons so that you know that every student is learning. #ohedchat
A2: I plan more generally. What we do is easily modified to make sure those that need supports get it and those that want to extend can as well. #OHedChat
Q2: Building HOPE asks us to keep an Open mind with our interactions and pedagogical choices.
When planning learning for ALL students, how do you keep an open mind towards the diverse needs of your students? #ohedchat
#ohedchat A2 ALL students need every chance to succeed. Do whatever it takes to ensure this! When the Ss know you LOVE them you will inspire them to #BELIEVE and learn.
A2: I take into account each ones DNA (dreams, needs, abilities - a concept a learned about through @thierck) I reflect on how I can help each one reach their goals and what assistance they will need along the way. Incorporating their dreams into their learning is key. #OhEdChat
A2: I plan small group lessons so that I can differentiate according to academic needs and learning styles. Small group teaching enables more instant feedback. #OHedchat
A2 I try to keep certain Ss in mind while planning. When I worked at @HopperMS we had Ss that fell in each level and thought of their learning when we planned. It makes it more personal. Try to make time for small group for ALL not just your struggling learnera #OhEdChat
A2: I can know the Ss as great as possible but I still can’t completely relate. That’s where adding as much choice as possible makes it easier for everyone involved #OHEdChat
A2. I think we need to look for the unseen and unspoken needs. These are not always crises; the need to be creative and have a voice come to mind. #OhEdChat
A2: Anytime treat our students as individuals and tap into their passions, we are on the right path. Giving them space to share their understanding in a manner that unique to who they are creates opportunities for learning to stick. #OHEdChat
Q2: Building HOPE asks us to keep an Open mind with our interactions and pedagogical choices.
When planning learning for ALL students, how do you keep an open mind towards the diverse needs of your students?
#ohedchat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
A2: From a principal’s position, I can encourage teachers to value flexibility as much as a strong plan. There are no brownie points awarded for refusing to deviate from a plan. Peyton Manning called LOTS of audibles during his HOF career - 1 of the reasons he was great #ohedchat
PS @NowakRo... your kindness blows me AWAY! Thank you so much for this amazing little care package I received today. The card said everything I needed to hear. Thank you friend. #OhEdChat
A3 My students know that respect for each other is number one. We cannot bring others down/make fun of them. In order to work well and create magic, we need to be a classroom family. I also want my students to have fun. Learning needs to be an adventure. Never give up! #OHedchat
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
A3: To find JOY in all that we do. Only we determine our own joy and my Ss know that you have to have a mindset that finds the joy in learning. #OHedchat
#ohedchat A3 My personal non-negotiable is to BE POSITIVE! EVERYDAY! When you are #Positive every day you will INSPIRE not just your Ss but also your coworkers.
A3: being a Catholic school means that our faith is non- negotiable. Other non- negotiable is respect. It has to be shown to others, teachers, property, and self! #OhEdChat
A3: I know sometimes it may be hard but having fun in the classroom is what keeps the hopeful spirit alive in the classroom. Having games or songs that go with certain lessons can make the topic a lot more light-hearted and help keep everyone happy in the class. #ohedchat
Some Non-negotiables that I would install in my future classroom would be to ensure that everyone understands respects and what it means to treat another person with respect. #ohedchat
A3: “Mistakes are a Must!” Mistakes are proof we are trying and we are learning. We must model this all the time. Share our “best mistake of the week” and what we learned so students know it is ok for them to go through the learning pit! @JamesNottinghm#ohedchat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community? #ohedchat
A3: my #1 expectation is respect and kindness. A class with collaboration and student led lessons needs to be based around this expectation.
A mistake I made was not defining “respect” so we defined this word so we were all in agreement of the meaning. #OHedChat
A3: We keep hope alive by recognizing growth. I don’t give a flip about how you compare to the teacher or kid next to you. Focus on improving your performance. Your completion is staring back at you from the glass. We can all tackle that challenge. #ohedchat
A3:
1)you're not done until you show mastery.
2) be better for kids.
3)failure is bound to happen but you are only defined by how you respond.
#ohedchat
A3 In my classroom, we value one another and treat each other respectfully. This should happen with both words and actions. When a negative comments slips out about someone, students know I will be requiring them to say a positive thing about tht person to follow it up. #ohedchat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
A3: Definitely the principles of @TimothyKight are my non-negotiables: No BCD (blaming, complaining, defending). Stay #AboveTheLine. Own your 20 Square Feet. Get your mind right & do the work. #ohedchat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
A3: Mutual respect for all classmates and the teacher is an absolute must. The class knows that my classroom is a safe place for all students that is free of judgement. A supportive and successful environment is something I take pride in. #ohedchat
A2: I have a few students that I know need extra attention. I make sure that I make myself available during my time with them so that I can make those connections. Some kids just need 1:1 time for someone to “listen” & to be heard. #ohedchat
Q2: Building HOPE asks us to keep an Open mind with our interactions and pedagogical choices.
When planning learning for ALL students, how do you keep an open mind towards the diverse needs of your students?
#ohedchat
A3: As long as we are still in session, there is still time to positively affect change in the educational process. We cannot simply sit on the sidelines and complain about school. We need to find ways to make it everything that we hoped it could be. #OHEdChat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
A3 Respect! Also, my Ss know mistakes are OK. I show them I also fail at things. We have to model these behaviors for them! Mistakes can be made. #OhEdChat
A3: We keep hope alive by recognizing growth. I don’t give a flip about how you compare to the teacher or kid next to you. Focus on improving your performance. Your competition is staring back at you from the glass. We can all tackle that challenge. #ohedchat
Really like that Adam. We cannot assume that Ss know something or what it means (eg respect). Important to being clear and the fact you did it together is even more powerful #OhEdChat
A3: Appreciate each other. Everyone has their own talents and brings something new to the table. Appreciate what you can do, as well as other classmates. #ohedchat
A3: respect. everyone displays mutual respect and is held accountable. positive interactions are given praise early in the year and supported throughout the year #ohedchat
That's why I allow my Ss to redo any assignment. They have to tell me why their answer was incorrect and why their new answer is correct. Ss can fix mistakes and work towards mastery of learning goals. #OHedchat
A1:I genuinely care about people around me. I show them I care by listening to them, encouraging them and leaning on them when needed. Best moment of my day/ when I saw my Ss after 4days, they cheered that I was back.I must be doing something right to connect with them. #ohedchat
Q1: To build HOPE in our schools, we need to lead and teach with our Heart.
How do you share your heart with students, staff or the community in your school? #ohedchat
A3: Favorite lesson is coding. I see more ss continue to (happily) try after their first failure because I have told them that it is ok to fail and show them that even I make mistakes. Perseverance. And no bullying. Ever #ohedchat
A2: I do my best to NOT assume I know a student/T. build relationships. I start every new student out with a half sheet infomration sheet where they tell me what they want to be called want to do, any home life situation color food class career aspirations. #ohedchat
A3: I started the year with 2 rules. Be Kind-Work Hard that I got from Kelly Gallagher and I think as we work through the year knowing those are the only "rules" provides hope. #OHedChat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
A3: In addition to teaching to levels, I’m mindful about how the Ss feels about their level. Projects build esteem. Alternative assessment as well. #OHedchat
A3 cont'd: i have an enthusiasm for the content and try to convey that every day in every place. I try to not have any bad days, just some better than other days #ohedchat
Q4: Passion and energy help fuel the HOPE we need to stay positive.
What is something that you are passionate about that you include in your daily routine, your planning or your teaching at school?
#ohedchat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
A4 I have passion for fun, energy, humour, learning and being different. I try to bring ME to the students. I want them to know that what they learn means something. We are out there to make a difference. My students know that we will include servant leadership. #OHedchat
A4: I just love showing how much fun I have being around Ss and in a school. I want my love for education to be infectious with my Ss and fellow educators. #OHedchat
A4: Something that I have a lot of passion for is about my content area of ASL and Deaf Culture. I try to promote engagement with the students and the Deaf community. I also have passion for organization so I try to instill that in my students #ohedchat
#ohedchat A4 I am passionate about my 1st rule #AlwaysBelieve in Yourself. I have witnessed this change the lives of the kids in my room. They don't forget it. I even wrote a book! I will soon become a published author! The Story of Always Believe coming out this Spring.
A4: No question: greeting each student at the door as they enter, without fail. If a colleague stops in before the bell to chat, when the bell sounds, I excuse myself or bring them with me! 😀#OHedChat
A4: music...I try to incorporate music into my classes as much as I can! It can help make a lesson more memorable and helps tell a story in a way that I can’t (I could sing it, but I’m sure my Ss wouldn’t like that!) #OhEdChat
Q4: Passion and energy help fuel the HOPE we need to stay positive.
What is something that you are passionate about that you include in your daily routine, your planning or your teaching at school?
#ohedchat
A4: I’m passionate about technology and helping Ss understand and navigate through it. I LOVE showing Ss how to podcast or blog to share their voice. I also love showing them keyboard shortcuts to make their lives easier. #OHedChat
A4 I am at student drop off and pick up every day. I am at lunch and recess duty every day. When I don't have meetings, I'm in classrooms. If I do those three things daily, it's a great day! #OHEdChat
A4: M & M time- movement and mindfulness. Need time off task to re-energize and re- charge ourselves. At least every 20 minutes we need one or the other. #ohedchat
A4: I have a passion for positivity and being yourself. I want every student in the classroom to be positive and excited about what they are doing and not let anyone else bring them down. Being who you are inside and outside of the classroom is so important! #ohedchat
Q4: Passion and energy help fuel the HOPE we need to stay positive.
What is something that you are passionate about that you include in your daily routine, your planning or your teaching at school? #ohedchat
A4: I love positivity! I am willing to try new strategies...we have a new staff member, I asked her to give me some of her “GoTo” tips! We can all learn from one another! Wait! Plan A didn’t work, try Plan B...its all about the journey. #ohedchat
Q4: Passion and energy help fuel the HOPE we need to stay positive.
What is something that you are passionate about that you include in your daily routine, your planning or your teaching at school?
#ohedchat
A4 (cont.): I also have great passion for connection. Between me and my students, between my students and the content, and between the students and the outside world beyond the classroom #ohedchat
A4: It might sound cliché, but I'm passionate about the content. As a high school science teacher, I know if I'm not excited about what I'm teaching the students won't be excited about learning it. #ohedchat
Q4: Passion and energy help fuel the HOPE we need to stay positive.
What is something that you are passionate about that you include in your daily routine, your planning or your teaching at school?
#ohedchat
A4 I am passionate about 21st century learning. I want to make sure I am planning lessons that are engaging and have real-world examples. Gen Z needs to know the why and that is OK. #OhEdChat
#ohedchat A4 part 2 A student at my school did her senior journalism project on my 1st rule. This is an AMAZING 7 minute video. ITS WORTH THE WATCH when you have some time. #AlwaysBelievehttps://t.co/QyCVXGNNqe
A1: I am present for everyone. I greet all students everyday. I try to connect with all of my students as individuals, not only as students. Making connections is essential.#OHedChat
A4: music...I try to incorporate music into my classes as much as I can! It can help make a lesson more memorable and helps tell a story in a way that I can’t (I could sing it, but I’m sure my Ss wouldn’t like that!) #OhEdChat
Being organized and having a plan is something I am passionate about. If I have a general plan for the day and stay organized, the day is likely to run smoothly. #ohedchat
A4: Morning meeting. I am so protective of that time together. I am passionate about its effects on the culture in our classroom and how important it is for relationship building and setting the tone for our day. #OhEdChat
A4: Helping others and computer science. I am a geek about the same things my ss are: Harry Potter, Avengers, video games, etc. Ss love it when you enjoy the same things they do (and discuss/debate who the best super hero is or the best Fortnite move). Everyday #ohedchat
A4 (cont.): I also have great passion for connection. Between me and my students, between my students and the content, and between the students and the outside world beyond the classroom #ohedchat
A4: I'm passionate about seeing my kids doing things they love. I try to attend as many school events as I can. It's so awesome getting invited and them seeing you. Does my heart good.
#OhEdChat
A4 I am passionate about servant leadership, mentorship, and discovering potential in students. I do this through purposeful class lessons (even in Spanish class!) and have formed a few mentoring groups. These students are making a difference! #ohedchat
A3: I try to promote a solution oriented mindset by always directing attention to "how do we" instead of "why." One of my non-negotiable is that we can't give up because there is always hidden potential in everyone. We just need to approach the situations differently #ohedchat
Q3:Keeping HOPE at school asks us to have a Perseverant attitude.
What are some of your non-negotiables in your classroom/school to keep a hopeful spirit alive in your learning community?
#ohedchat
Q5: To ignite HOPE in your classroom/school you need to demonstrate Empathy.
How can you be more empathetic towards your students and their stories when planning, teaching or having conversations with them?
#ohedchat
A5 Empathy is key in every classroom. We need to not only be inclusive, but truly try to understand every child's story. Education and learning needs to be accessible and everyone needs to feel like they belong. Use the stories of your students to teach amazing lessons. #OHedchat
A5: Looking at this more. This year we are doing more nonfiction work and trying to look at others lives through our eyes and theirs. I am trying to expose them to more cultures and give them chances to share their connections. #OHedChat
Q5: To ignite HOPE in your classroom/school you need to demonstrate Empathy.
How can you be more empathetic towards your students and their stories when planning, teaching or having conversations with them?
#ohedchat
A5: Listening with intent, to learn and not respond is what all children deserve! They need to know they matter and we show that by being truly present. As the cliche goes, “presence is the best gift” we can give them. #ohedchat
A5: Listen!!! Take the time & be intentional about getting to know your Ss!! Let them talk & ask questions to learn more about them as individuals!! #ohedchat
A5: Being empathetic of the children's stories is the key to success in the classroom. You need to listen to every child and really understand who they are and where they come from. #ohedchat
A5: Continue to ask for feedback from everyone. We get formal feedback from supervisors, but I am constantly asking for it from my students as well. "What worked about this lesson?" "What didn't you like?" "What could I change?" #ohedchat
Q5: To ignite HOPE in your classroom/school you need to demonstrate Empathy.
How can you be more empathetic towards your students and their stories when planning, teaching or having conversations with them?
#ohedchat
A5 “Be reasonable” is my only classroom rule. I tell them often that works both ways. I want them to know I understand what their lives are like, but actions (and policies) need to speak louder. #OHedChat
A5: build lessons around their concerns. It can help alleviate fears/issues if they’re discussed in a larger setting, plus other Ss may feel the same way and help them as well. #OhEdChat
A5: I think environments can be empathetic. Sensory corners/furniture. Class habits. Flexible with breaks for overwhelmed Ss. My closet is gutted. Nice chair, colored lights. Kinda the norm in our rooms. #OHedchat
Q5: To igniting HOPE in your classroom/school you need to demonstrate Empathy.
How can you be more empathetic towards your students and their stories when planning, teaching or having conversations with them? #ohedchat
A5: As I said, students' backgrounds are very important. They make the content you teach relevant and important if you can connect them. Showing that you care, you are available to talk to, and that you find the students' stories important, you establish trust #ohedchat
A5: we have to realize our kids are growing up in a crazy world that can be hard for us to relate to. The best thing we can do is listen to them, hold them to high expectations, and give them every opportunity to find a passion & be successful.
#ohedchat
A5: One way to gain empathy is to share our stories. We had a beautiful moment when a student felt nervous about a field trip. I asked “is anyone else nervous?” Every hand in the room shot up. A boy said “I’ll be your nervous buddy! We can be nervous together!” #OhEdChat
A5 It's vital to realize it's not about us, it's about the kids. Listen more than you talk, and talk about what the kids want to talk about. Build relationships built on care and trust and then the learning will follow.

A5: I frequently say that not everyone knows or has the same experiences with. Students are encouraged to ask for and give help when needed. This has lessened ss acting superior when they know something they think others should already know. #ohedchat
A4: I have tons of hobbies from walking, photography, painting, writing, reading, playing pranks, plus implementing my ideas in the best way possible and connecting with others. All of the above provide fuel for my passion. #ohedchat
