Yep ... for real for you! :)
Very true! As soon as I say it's going to be posted "boom!" the Ss kick it up a level. !
Too ... many ... tweets ...
Must ... catch ... up ...
A1: Connecting and learning far beyond walls of the classroom.
A.1.2: Makes the "pen pal" idea so laughable now.
Hello ! A bit late sorry, we are a tech startup located in Auckland, New Zealand, so its not After Dark for us!

I think is about connecting. The social capital Ss are able to build is truly what will set them apart 🙌🏾
I agree. Tech also allows me to give my parents a glimpse of what is happening in the classroom
LOL ... it doesn't get any better than this!
Glad to see another SC person safe :-) !
What's really neat is getting to see historical documents up close
A1: Instant collaborations anywhere.
Love this aspect of it! https://t.co/P7LJzAsyw9
I agree. Tech also allows me to give my parents a glimpse of what is happening in the classroom
Social capital to problem solve, not just master answers to ONE idea/dilemma. Love this!
welcome Becky! Thrilled to have you with us
A1: conventional classrooms are necessary learning can take place anywhere anytime and with anyone. https://t.co/QvG4xNMmCr

A1: As said, S can find info about essentially anything online! I know college students who never been to lib
A1: Adapt to meet the needs of kids today in a world where a lot of learning happens outside the walls of the classroom
hey Chelsey welcome glad to hear you guys are safe
Sounds like is on and popping, as usual! https://t.co/X3PXBfcrWj

Q2 is right around the corner ...
I had several questions about how to do something - tech allowed me to make a video tutorial in to answer
going big instead of going home! hope all is well!
A1 Using tech to become lifelong learners.
Right. If the smartest person in the room is the room, then tech has power to make much larger room.
A1:I think it really opens S minds because they can do stuff like connect with classes globally, do any of you do this?
Guilty as charged! Is that faux pas?!?! :)
I got say keeping up with tech is like going through a box of cereal. So many new things
A1c: tech also lets us make the classroom a dynamic multimedia space where we can work spontaneous YouTube into lectures 😏
A1: Tech create relevance through connection.
The struggle is a real one, but a good one. https://t.co/7b3Y0V3f9M
Too ... many ... tweets ...
Must ... catch ... up ...
Just catching before heading to bed. Phyllis, Baton Rouge, LA, 5th&6th grade music/choir
A1: infe that anytime the Ss break out the computers, I'm helping them prepare for being adults and in the workforce
I can tell! Impressed already!
awesome tool! Easy way to create tutorials and share!
I asked a group of parents how many of them would lose important information if they lost their phones. All hands up.
Faux pas? Rather, a GIF-wrapped invitation. (snicker)
Twitter PLN man! Best reason to go online
Ss need more than a static book. Then need ways to ask and get answers to deeper thoughts and questions.
A2 were they really good enough? I carried them around ... not sure how much I read them 🙄😳😜 https://t.co/ovMv5nESxg
A2: Riding a horse to school was good enough for us, so it's good enough for today's students....#
A2: FALSE! Textbooks are a reference but not the sole source. Ss have more info in their pockets w/ phone than a book !
A2: since when is good enough good enough? We should be looking for new, better solutions in all areas of Ed. Status quo🚫
I know what u mean! My advice is to focus on what is needed (Creation, assmnt, S voice) don't let it distract!
A2: Ss need more than a static book. Then need ways to ask and get answers to deeper thoughts and questions.
A2: Never recall actually reading a textbook. Prob skimmed it at best. Def never cracked my college ones
order groceries, watch your pets from work, explore new places, learn cooking techniques...
A2 were they good enough?
A2 By 'good enough,' do you mean, 'all we had'?
Yes indeed. I will persevere!
A2: "Good enough" : But were they great enough? No.
WOW ... you really just went there ... impressed as usual, Brian. :)
Q2 A textbook is just one resource to gather info. in an ocean of materials; why limit it to that?
A2: textbook learning=regurgitating info learned. Tech-enhanced learning = students as critical thinking problem solvers
Yep ... we can admit that we're just like the kids in this way! https://t.co/SJnTqQfH5L
I asked a group of parents how many of them would lose important information if they lost their phones. All hands up.
A2: Why settle for "good enough" when we can & should make Ed better? Can we ever be "good enough" to stop growing?
Exactly! ! https://t.co/guT4KkWXOT
A2: Why settle for "good enough" when we can & should make Ed better? Can we ever be "good enough" to stop growing?
A2: Lazy talk of people who don't want to change & can only do what they know. There's not even a textbook for my subject!
A2: Outdated and boring....Even for use..not for the mind that wanders and wonders.
A2: I think of all the different points of view I can gain using tech. Textbook = one point of view, the authors.
I love IT! https://t.co/taDeVtgSxA
A2: Riding a horse to school was good enough for us, so it's good enough for today's students....#
Textbooks are outdated before they reach out classroom. Why teach old news? Resources like are REALTIME & amazing
A2) Wrong! Standardization and increased accountability has created a consistent need for improvement 1 📚 6 yrs wont cut it
Got to remember this when I do my Parent Tech Night next week (assuming we have power...lol) !
Jenny's distinction bears repeating. https://t.co/IO2CzAGF0P
A2: textbook learning=regurgitating info learned. Tech-enhanced learning = students as critical thinking problem solvers
The world is faster than what TBs can provide. Books are invaluable but TBs are usually outdated & boring
A2: Textbooks are like cars...outdated and depreciated as soon as they leave the printing press/lot.
Q2: 20 year old information bought from lowest bidder was good enough for us... oh wait. Never min… https://t.co/gG4uUMpLAX
Yes ... and sometimes outdated before they hit the students' desks! https://t.co/194csU0QER
The world is faster than what TBs can provide. Books are invaluable but TBs are usually outdated & boring
A2, Part 2: Textbooks are Finite!
A2: They were not good enough. We have better stuff now. We should want better. And better is actually sometimes cheaper.
Since history changes everyday so are textbooks. When history changes, texts goes out of date
In Social Studies, texts become quickly outdated, especially US Government. Digital is the way to stay updated!
We tend 2 wear our struggles as badges of honor 2 our kids "When I was ur age I needed 2 use a DICTIONARY!" They have Siri
A2: Txtbooks snapshot an attempt to be relevant, but never evolve. It's like having the same twitter chat topic every week!
Also, the internet allows us to access all the same information as a textbook plus often at interactive/customizable levels
A2.2 Life feels less linear than it used to, so we might need alternative or additional resources that are following suit.
A2.1: I can't think of any textbook that had a profound impact on my learning....
Textbook = compliance and too much $$$ Students deserve more
What is that thing??? LOL ... my grandparents had one. That's the ONLY way I know what that is. https://t.co/4KMbQoPckk
A2) if we as Ts ever get to a point where we refuse to innovate and improve it's time to move on
so true. In fact the ss like it when I'm like "how do i do this on my phone?"...role reversal :-) !
That, and what Dan said! :)
A2: Textbooks never engaged me when I was in school.
Omg but how much do I want to ride a horse to school now!! https://t.co/IqXuyTB0Cb
A2: Riding a horse to school was good enough for us, so it's good enough for today's students....#
Active, engaging, authentic learning does not come from a textbook but from life experiences & discovery
A2 Digital is the WAY to stay updated!
Steward money better AND let us pick and chose the best from several sources. LOVE OERs! https://t.co/DXZ7z001uW
A2 textbooks weren't good enough- they were a guide-There are so many options today & with OER could steward money… https://t.co/dpRPmci8c0
create their own "textbooks" where they document what they learn instead of what the curriculum thinks they should learn
Nope, not in my book! (See what I just did there?) Oh, hey Erin! :)
Or walk up hill both ways to school in the "insert weather" ! https://t.co/ji7NVLbfYv
Omg but how much do I want to ride a horse to school now!! https://t.co/IqXuyTB0Cb
A2: Riding a horse to school was good enough for us, so it's good enough for today's students....#
Variety is the spice of life... and the classroom! https://t.co/UMWxmKUAKq
A2: I think of all the different points of view I can gain using tech. Textbook = one point of view, the authors.
Great distinction here by Joe. Do we want good enough, or do we want great??? https://t.co/3245l4u4PF
A2: "Good enough" : But were they great enough? No.
There is ALWAYS a better way to teach, learn, & innovate then a textbook
Don't say that too loud around my school! Shhhhh!
Make it all about primary sources and texts become even less relevant!
Textbooks had their place. They were the first wireless learning device.
But our wireless learning has improved since then
how about explaining what "Rewind" is to a 7 year old
A2: Textbooks have outdated information by the time our Ss get them. Digital resources are the only way to stay current.
can't take credit. Got it from ! :-)
horses?!? What? My parents walked to school. Uphill both ways in the snow?!? Lol
Best way to determine age of a science textbook is looking up Pluto's planet status
A2 I'll add that sometimes textbooks mean you're confined to fidelity. If not, then guilted into it. Bad News...
Yes yes YES!!! https://t.co/wrrHlOOm9C
A2: textbook learning=regurgitating info learned. Tech-enhanced learning = students as critical thinking problem solvers
Ooooh, I can tell I like you guys a LOT already!
Q3 is on its way ...
This has been a public service announcement.
Or what a Blockbuster was? !
I agree. At N. White we pride ourselves in SS Dept in using latest videos and primary sources!
Compliance. You just touched a nerve ... Life doesn't come with multiple choice bubble tests! https://t.co/lXo9wmu5ov
Textbook = compliance and too much $$$ Students deserve more
Heard a T say at a conference:
"We can't reach wifi kids with landline strategies." https://t.co/f8dICqCDht
Textbooks had their place. They were the first wireless learning device.
But our wireless learning has improved since then
That deserves points too, right? ☺️ https://t.co/jtFX1XiBGm

how about explaining what "Rewind" is to a 7 year old
A3: Don't cover the standards. Use tech to UNcover them. Instruction isn't pizza. Don't deliver it.
So I just stumbled onto ... I like y'all!
once found a "tape player", students tried to put scotch tape in it 😝
A3: We must not lose site of the learning - Don't use tech just because it "seems cool" - is it the right tool for the job?
A2: We have much more available to us now in addition to tb - instant connection to experts, research, viable curriculum.
A3 Tech goes in the backseat (or maybe shotgun). Purpose is behind the wheel.
A3: Must find relevant, meaningful ways to use it. Not to use it for "tech" sake. !
My dad went to 1 room schoolhouse and the teacher stayed in the spare bedroom. I am old.
LOL ... me too! Where I live, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for a student to ride a horse to school.
A3: You have to focus on instruction first. Using cool tech doesn't make you a good teacher.
This may be a dumb question, but how many are attending this week?
Barefoot! 😜 https://t.co/F1jeGIgVwY
horses?!? What? My parents walked to school. Uphill both ways in the snow?!? Lol
A3: have a WHY before you even start thinking about using the tech. It should be a clear answer/improvement to a problem
Yes, I think so! Someone should make a cell phone that looks like a rotary phone. Someone would buy it!
A3: Have a plan for implementation, don't just stick it in bc you think it will increase engagement or bc it's last minute
🍎👋🏽 😠
I'm at an iftaar for
🕌 (which is tomorrow). Everyone is speaking in Arabic.
Not awkward at all 😬🍎.
A3. Make students the leaders of the own learning and teacher move to facilitator. Check my colleague !
Love the pizza analogy! ! https://t.co/JGoAuHbu2o
A3: Don't cover the standards. Use tech to UNcover them. Instruction isn't pizza. Don't deliver it.
You'll have to visit more often! https://t.co/5JX97m0L4T
Ooooh, I can tell I like you guys a LOT already!
Q3 is on its way ...
Taking my Ss on a field trip bc talking about college isn't enough. Show them what we're working towards 🎓
A3 Teach students real world applications with tech. Share how we use it and allow them to solve their own problems.
A3: We must use it properly like any other tool. I wouldn't use a hammer to cut paper. Tech is awesome when used correctly.
A3: start w/standards- strategic revamp of curriculum maps w/tech to meet needs... tech is not another item on a checklist!
I LOVE this Alex! https://t.co/Rc97aSnwph
Heard a T say at a conference:
"We can't reach wifi kids with landline strategies." https://t.co/f8dICqCDht
Textbooks had their place. They were the first wireless learning device.
But our wireless learning has improved since then
A3: we must ask the ? Can this be done in an analog form? Can my Ss Google the answer? If the A to either is Y, do better
awesome! Welcome we think we do this tech chat thing right!
Hi! I'm Martine! I can't believe it!
Purpose & Relevance do not use tech simply b/c you can. Use it in parallel with hands on-learning
Yes it does! I officially deputize you, Sylvia, to give during this chat. :)
A3: Ensure the focus is on teaching and learning. The tech is always secondary.
I agree. It needs to connect. https://t.co/nDMy4sJv11
A3: You have to focus on instruction first. Using cool tech doesn't make you a good teacher.
A3: Be willing to change, learn, & model demonstration of hinterland technology & concepts. https://t.co/8VbQ4nlXkP
what's that? I want to go
A1 talk w/ people thousands of miles away! Exchange ideas instantly
A3: We need to let technology get out of the way...so it's not THE event...just part of who we are.
has moved to using Google Slides for collaboration! Classroom producing learners! .
A3: Have strong relationships, model learning & failure, make it so exciting they have no choice but to buy in
Tech should used to enhance what you ALREADY do or provide something you can't do otherwise (like music instruction for me)
In sensing a trend. https://t.co/jdJmTpTmDT
LOL ... me too! Where I live, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for a student to ride a horse to school.
Absolutely! You must have a Why and a purpose! https://t.co/KtvnXqB2cC
A3: have a WHY before you even start thinking about using the tech. It should be a clear answer/improvement to a problem
A3 Create, create, then create some more.
Don't forget to allow it to inspire and empower Ss
The Hoosiers are bringing it tonight in ! Hello Chris! https://t.co/NcMbowRkAT
A3: You have to focus on instruction first. Using cool tech doesn't make you a good teacher.
A3: create a lesson so that the engagement of the tech is not the substance.
Teach digital citizenship. Provide opportunities to use technology but for enhancement not replacing ✏️ and 📝
iOnly understand 7thcentury Arabic in the 🕌Quran + that is only in Context (of the Quran)
🙌🏽 this🌙.
A3 meet kids @ their levels. Make it relevant to them
A3b: showing Ss, 'hey, this is how u use that iPad to make ur life easier/more efficient' in real way-not just as cool toy
A3: Is tech allowing Ss to create or connect in ways that wasn't possible without it?
Don't have to use every tech tool. Just the ones that help make learning more meaningful !
A3: Don't be afraid to venture into the unknown. Try it and learn something new together.
A3: We have to be willing to try new activities we couldn't have done without tech, not just use it for digital worksheets
I admit, I've had lessons where S left saying 'XYZ was fun to use!' What did you LEARN?
Perfect. Technology is there to enhance instruction… Not replace it.
A3) Ss need purpose, they need to make a difference in their world not just solve problems/simulations
Agreed, Anne! It all starts with purpose. Handing out tech a week before school does NOT cut it. https://t.co/fZbAMXOZls
A3: embrace it! Don't put it in a backpack and never use it! Ss choice n product and see the amazing stuff they cre… https://t.co/YYKBIrcHVo
A3 have Ss explore topics they are passionate about through tech
A3, Pt 2: Like a good neighbor, EdTech is there (Connect it thought).
Jill, you strike me as a person of discriminating tastes. https://t.co/bXlIfRgotv
Don't have to use every tech tool. Just the ones that help make learning more meaningful !
A3: Tech to pacify = not really a good use of class time
A3 Focus on using tech to enhance the learning.
There are some ROCKIN educators at right now. Bummed to miss it.
A3 Purpose first. Also, meaningful things change for the better. Good tech today will be replaced by better tech tomorrow.
A3: We must use it ourselves; show that it is something meaningful to us. In the words of one of my mentors: "dogfood" it.
I would say "outlier" but I'm cutting back on my Malcolm Gladwell references. ;)
A3: Tech is amazing, but we should remember its a tool to make teaching better, it can't replace great teachers!
A3 Many Ts use tech as tool to help us do our job more effectively. Show Ss how to do the same with their learning
just tied it with 4 Playa!! Wishing for more consistency though...
We need to help T's get over the initial hump of using tech to simply occupy their Ss - what are they creating? marketing?
Yes ... be the lead learner alongside our students! 🙂 https://t.co/cAkGpnsCFF
A3: We must use it ourselves; show that it is something meaningful to us. In the words of one of my mentors: "dogfood" it.
I'm sure they learned something too, the tech just stole the show.
Only to the degree that these goals are a part of the Ts design for how Ss use tech academically.
Indeed. A former supervisor of mine said this back in 2003 or so. . Wish it would stick.
Right! Because a digital worksheet is still just a worksheet ... bottom of the edu-food chain! https://t.co/VKib1aULIc
Teach digital citizenship. Provide opportunities to use technology but for enhancement not replacing ✏️ and 📝
Totally cool to learn Tech alongside your students. The teacher does not have to be the expert in everything.
Too true. Sometimes, the fear of missing out leads to the panic of feeling overwhelmed.
Hello ! Karly, TOSA from SF Bay Area, CA. Popping in VERY late to say hello!
A3: Allow learners to make mistakes
I'm just gonna lurk here forever. The gif game is so strong here. 😍
So many great responses tonight! Gotta retweet them all! https://t.co/AEhzAt2LME
A3 Many Ts use tech as tool to help us do our job more effectively. Show Ss how to do the same with their learning
Movies, ebooks, 3D models, video games, what else? :)
Trying to type quickly and then I find a typo, SMH
Tech skills are different from playing w/in apps, sites, and fun programs.
Exactly! Good instruction will always be most important.
I just encourage them to try out 1-2 new tools a month and then build on it.
A3 use of tech needs to be purposeful in the classroom, not fluffy.
Amen! I had to realize that it was okay to offer new tech that I have vetted but am not an "expert" with yet
A4: Don't spend tons of time exploring the tech & trying to understand every tiny detail. Kids will figure it out faster
https://t.co/GXkEjP0O44
A3: We have to be willing to try new activities we couldn't have done without tech, not just use it for digital worksheets
Its interesting to see how Fisher Price has really caught on to Tech EG.. Code a Pillar
A4: being dazzled by too many different apps/gimmicks. Find something fundamental to use tech to improve and work on that
A4: Don't assume technology automatically motivates students.
I have started a few lessons with "I don't know how to do this so the first one that can..."
A4: The only wrong way to use tech is to not even try. You have to take risks and go out of your comfort zone.
Tech is pretty, salesmen are slick. Have you bought your snake oil tech today?
Exactly, look for results, not dazzle.
Do not try to many new things at once, take it slow. Trust Ss will use it responsibly if you model
Ts need PD and support to branch out and learn how to actually integrate tech. Some schools forget that part
Nooooo she is getting to the heart of the matter.. quality over quanity..
A4: take time to learn the device your students are using and train on the apps you will be using. Always be a learner!
A4 My pal gave me GREAT advice Pick 3 tech tools to focus on using to enhance instruction Put blinders on to more
A4: Try a new edtech tool and build on it from there. Do what you are comfortable with
That sounds like an episode of podcast to me! https://t.co/MjD5ItEQPf
A3: We must use it ourselves; show that it is something meaningful to us. In the words of one of my mentors: "dogfood" it.
Preach! https://t.co/A2EZcMpFTA
A4: The only wrong way to use tech is to not even try. You have to take risks and go out of your comfort zone.
A4.2 Quoting an earlier chat iteration of myself re: navigating tech use. https://t.co/ZxKFp4BX4K
A2 Marry the purpose, not the tool -- because ed tech tools tend to come & go.
Work with tech. integration specialists to get results, not sales folks.
Yessir! Sometimes I get blitzed with so many apps, the overload can be almost counterproductive IMO https://t.co/melHhLy7HO
Exactly, look for results, not dazzle.
A4 Don't try to learn it all at once. Baby steps. Do what you know and then grow.
Nope. Remember the tortoise won the race ....
Pick something like, steal it and use it
When tech is used with purpose it enhances learning immeasurably
Hey ... if you don't follow , do it now! Awesome and always sharing the am… https://t.co/fE4198lzWs
Hello ! Karly, TOSA from SF Bay Area, CA. Popping in VERY late to say hello!
A4: Create routine - I use Google Class: model how to log in, find assignments, comment, turn in, etc.
Agree. Gain confidence and build from there!
A4: Always start with the "Why" in mind. Purposeless use of tech is wasteful. What makes great learning?
Just storytelling and relationships. A little content knowledge doesn't hurt either.
A4: Don't let technology drive your instruction but use it as a tool
Awww thanks Matt! Great group at =)
A4 If it's a new app like OneNote, learn 1 new feature per week or month. Get involved with bigger PLC than your district.
I know! I thought we did GIFs well in ... we clearly need to step up our game! :) https://t.co/wmNyKB7AL6
I'm just gonna lurk here forever. The gif game is so strong here. 😍
A4 Primary students can use content creation apps, blog, etc., too! Don't assume they are too young to do anything!
A4: Vet it by using it; Anticipate wi-fi issues; Anticipate students becoming frustrated; Integrate "growth mindset"
Agreed! She has been a welcomed addition to my PLN https://t.co/NZ20L0LN2r

Hello ! Karly, TOSA from SF Bay Area, CA. Popping in VERY late to say hello!
Wish I knew this 4 years ago....
This is a GREAT line to start a class. https://t.co/etZ614QIm8
I have started a few lessons with "I don't know how to do this so the first one that can..."
A4: Try something and ask Ss for feedback...get them involved in the process of learning and growing
I have a list of 10 - 15 apps or so. Library media.
A4: Don't let moderators of chats USE YOU for topics like 🙌🏽 .
Esp if you're an EDUCONSULTANT🍎
Truth! Being flexible and focused on the learning goal is essential https://t.co/YpxpamCIBu
A4: Identify a back up plan, or expect that something may not work as planned; it can still be a learning experienc… https://t.co/i8d1LYqLaA
I tell this to my Ss, but my Ts have to be willing to take this leap as well. https://t.co/SjCOvffnLP
A4: The only wrong way to use tech is to not even try. You have to take risks and go out of your comfort zone.
A4: From a tech startup, think how you can integrate your tech together best. Most products work best w similar products
You all are way too nice here at =)
A4: Find a workflow/LMS that works well for you. Google Classroom was a game changer for me.
We would be willing to do some PD lol https://t.co/IPvQVqouer
I know! I thought we did GIFs well in ... we clearly need to step up our game! :) https://t.co/wmNyKB7AL6
I'm just gonna lurk here forever. The gif game is so strong here. 😍
So true. I teach in a tech academy - all my lessons have to have a non-tech backup plan!
It's amazing what they can do =) Those k-2s definitely can too! https://t.co/nO74FIebzU
A4 Primary students can use content creation apps, blog, etc., too! Don't assume they are too young to do anything!
A4: Don't forget good lessons. Overplan. Groupwork. Standards. Checkins. Workshop. You know... teacher stuff!
Fill your toolbox with tech resources, but only use what you and students need to get the job done. https://t.co/O0cCTID9tO
For example, Google Drive probably works best with Google Classroom, etc
unplugged lessons are OK and encouraged!
Right! https://t.co/7byfoofVz3
Do not try to many new things at once, take it slow. Trust Ss will use it responsibly if you model
How can we teach our students not to fear failure if we do? 🙌
Lemarr Treadwell checking in late.
Mind you, I really DID know it could be done... just wasn't sure how... exactly... kinda....
A4: Make sure your tools match your purpose. I did bellringers w/old CPUs. Took 1/2 the period. Tools couldn't keep up!
A4 You can start with tech as a replacement for something they already do so you're comfortable w/the results/expectations
A4: also, dear lord, set ground rules if you do something live online. Especially if you like joking w/ ur Ss like I do
woohoo, 400th follower! Thanks for following along! :-)
A4: Avoid the shiny for shiny's sake. Also, avoid the negative naysayers.Find your path to greatness.
Preach it! https://t.co/WFnc5nx6tr
A4: Avoid the shiny for shiny's sake. Also, avoid the negative naysayers.Find your path to greatness.
Growth Mindset, learning can't happen without mistakes
example from today: replaced whiteboards, erasers, & dry erase pens with whiteboard app! Less stuff to juggle!
A4: Empower the Ss to vet the tech tool. And share it's uses with others.
Sometimes one of these is better than what we had planned
I heard through the grapevine that we are getting some! Exciting!!!
A4 extended: App to recommend to a new teacher?
Try to have them use the "school credentials" for EVERYTHING! It does help!
Big issue I'm tackling now. They truly don't. Social media savvy is not the same as tech savvy. https://t.co/3aGAaPnKys
A4: Don't assume Ss know how to behave in the digital world. Teach, model, and practice explicitly!… https://t.co/qxbvoj8u5d
A5 Big paper and markers ... sometimes you just gotta' kick it old school! ... build the discussi… https://t.co/usHGFpZtzI
Try new things, take risks, be ok to fail for tech fails us a lot, focus on great learning experiences for Ss tech or not
A5: I'd start with a good foundation of skills to show Ss how to use the tech responsibly.
Have you tried ? It's so cool!
I'd stick with focusing on the 1:1 approach with a classrm mgmt system for workflow and apps to help support other lessons
. I love using it w/Google Docs for exploratory activities.
A5: would have to be Google Classroom and GAFE. Can jump anywhere from there.
A5: Helping students understand the importance of the device in hand. We gave it to them the first time with no guidance!
I know! We are bummed at ! Now we have to change our name =( Why Google??? Why???
Great idea! I might do this with and .
A5) Not device specific all devices welcome, complete autonomy to learn, master and grow
Nice! Then you have some experience to compare the process to.
Socrative is also pretty awesome.
Right! I've had a botched lesson turn out great ... and have repeated the alternative in the future.
A5: knowing what I know now...more collaboration to build on communication Google Apps but old school is a must too.
Right now there is the doodle for Google art contest. Good activity if Google is down!
A5b: also, having airplay would be one thing too. LOVE using it to mirror student iPads & work out Qs w/ whole class
as long as the get 10 more points we're good! Lol
We LOVE Osmo! The coding is hands-on. My 5 yr old loves it.
A4: don't be afraid to spend time playing with the tech b4 u get to the learning. Can't go to work if can't drive the car!
a5: Google Docs. No question.
A5: Google Classroom has simplified my workflow so much! no more recipes laying around & missing papers.
A5: Making sure that I am tech savvy with all devices & apps that will be used in the class so that I can assist my Ss
A5: the root of all should be real world problem-solving
OneNote is a pretty awesome tech tool if you can only pick one.
Oh, it's not the kids fighting me....it's adults! When I press the issue of consistency, there was push back....
A5 cont: Google Classroom has also worked great for classroom. Easy turn in of sidequests, etc
Educreations, Popplet, GoogleMaps, Nearpod are my faves!
Maybe if boycotts it then Google will reconsider! :)
I honestly love using tech for planning as well. So much easier to collab with Ts on shared Google Docs or shared folders.
A5 =.Stick with one tech and master it
A5: I'd make sure to plan backwards more. Start with the product the Ss create and work in reverse.
What the-??? There's a whiteboard app? Kewl! I learned something!
A5, continued: is amazing LMS to help hold Ss accountable for deadlines, work, etc.
A5: G-suite for edu and look at what other needs and then find the devices that fit all the marks my district went iPads.
A5: IMO the ability to mirror student ipads is best way to keep class more dynamic when giving individual practice time
small to really really big!
there are several. I got a simple one. Came with graph paper & sport coach diagram options too!
Lots of great ideas tonight! Question: how do we teach students about the wonderful 2016 election (lol) Ideas?
Huzzah to clear, shared goals & myriad paths to work toward them. https://t.co/aFjVce6ddP
A5) Not device specific all devices welcome, complete autonomy to learn, master and grow
Yesssss! And beanbag chairs!
A5: Digital citizenship and online safety as the foundation.
Not the adults! smh. Keep fighting the fight
You might want to lay low for a while...
Ha ha ha if only we had that much pull =)
As a math teacher, OneNote is the only tool that allows me and students to ink. Gamechanger.
LOL ... love it! That knows his stuff!
A5) Wordpress. Open delivery of information, open writing from students with broad audience for both
I chuckle when reps come in and shown me how PDFs are the digital curriculum of 2016. Twice this year
A6: Check out , & ! & are awesome communities!
online portfolios, google docs, google maps, Canvas, podcasts w/audiobook & class blogs
A6 Thought-provoking Qs in chats like this with plenty of comments.
A5: basics of how to word process. Students must b able to communicate and share learning in terms world can understand.
I've been playing around with the idea of a "tech buffet" presentation & this quote is perf! Thx!
A6: My wife who is an amazing 1:1 coach and is constantly teaching me tech.
I am the educational lovechild of my two proud loving and inspiring papas in and 😉
A6: Also, check out ' online discussion of Innovator's Mindset w/the HT . GREAT stuff being shared.
We've gone 1:1...not completely paperless but definitely using less of it this year.
A5: GAFE for sure, but I would be teaching O365 in Comp. Apps. Ss should know both platforms, but O365 not quite there yet
A6) inspires me in terms of both ed tech and helpfulness/patience towards others
I'll let Microsoft issue that one. They do have OneNote badges and trainer courses.
, , , They all connect you to a world of other educators!
A5 For class tech foundation, is ginormous bandwidth with iron-clad reliability too much (or too greedy) to ask for?
A1) , they inspire me at all times!
A6 <-- Awesome folks <-- Legendary
A6 Man! So many!! Of course the crew incl
Wow ... what happens at stays at , huh??? ;) https://t.co/XLvpPMak96

A5 Typing skills. Decades (heck, a century+) later and keyboarding is still a relevant skill. https://t.co/no7rws8KQJ
Session breakouts during a gifted conference. Learned so many new techs
A6: also, she's not on Twitter, but Mrs. Katrina Hudgens at inspires me daily with her dedication
Does anyone know of an app that functions similarly to ? Something where kids can tell their stories?
Check out and ❤️Twitter so many brilliant minds!
A5) also really enjoy as LMS. Gasification w/ choose your own adventure courses
Gotta send out some love.

I need the answers to this Q!
