A1: I don’t know about enduring grace and beauty, but the one thing that remains constant for me is the joy I get from spending each day with students. It is the entire reason I love my job so very much. #hcpsteach

A2 Joy-wishing! While I am not feeling it right now, while testing season occurs, I like giving small, thoughtful, inexpensive gifts to my colleagues – gifts that make them smile.

A2: Testing is never a focus. We don’t talk about them, “prep” for them, nor do we make them seem important. They are a sad part of my job but they do not, nor should they, be a part of the student vision, purpose, or reality. Keep them invisible. #hcpsteach
I agree ... I only focus on the test as a scheduled date ... my students know when it will happen but that everything we do is planning for life beyond that test. #HCPSTeach

A4. Recently it’s been with a class wide “ooooooh yeah!” After we score our review goal for the day! I love knowing that they building confidence for their semester exam. #hcpsteach

A4 I am publishing poetry that my student wrote. Each student that submitted is getting a color-published copy. I’m so pleased with their risk-taking.

I can vouch for this. I wish I had a Mr. Thomas in high school to work on finding my voice in writing. Such a crucial skill for future careers. #hcpsteach

My favorite place is an elementary media center. When I get down on things out of my control at work or this massive district, I go there and work for a few hours and I remember my why. It’s for the kids. No one else. #hcpsteach#hubofschool

A6 Starting a new position – I’m hoping for a re-start. I want to listen more and lead less – promote and support teachers in their individual goals (in teaching writing) & effective practices.

A6: This is when I miss being in the classroom and controlling my bubble. I don’t feel empowered to decide what to throw out or keep for next year. More like what can I tweak or try to cut out without getting in trouble 😄🤦🏻♀️ #hcpsteach

Q6: Going to be at a new school site next year. So as a leader, I plan to spend a lot of time listening to the needs of students, teachers and families. #HCPSTeach

On #TeacherAppreciationDay & everyday, we are so grateful for our teachers! On Saturday, we presented @PinellasEd with a $50,000 grant, while recognizing the 2018 Pinellas County Schools Outstanding Educator of the Year Ms. Boyce & Outstanding Educator Fan Favorite Ms. Herman!
