Interested in student-driven classrooms? Join Dr. Nancy Sulla @nsulla (author of Students Taking Charge, Its Not What You Teach But How, Building Executive Function: The Missing Link to Student Achievement, and more) and educators from all over in #LATICchat on Thursday nights at 8pm ET. We hope to bring together a community of educators to share insights, stories, examples, pictures from their classrooms, and more. We welcome all educators to join; no need to be running a #LATIC classroom.
A1) I always wanted to be a teacher, but I knew my parents did not want me to go into the profession, so I didn't tell them for a long time. There was no one moment, I just always knew. Just lucky, I guess. #LATICchat
A1) at USF for an AuD, but one day visiting my future MILās classroom, and I was hooked! Dropped out of grad school. Got alternative certification, and began teaching a few months later #LATICchat
A2 I love their sense of curiosity and endless desire to ask why? There is nothing better than when then make a connection or learn something new it shows all over their face like Christmas morning #LATICchat
A2) A childās curiosity and desire to explore is one of the most enjoyable aspects to education. Now the question is, are we taking advantage of this enough on every grade level?#LATICchat
A2 Their innate wonder about the world. They donāt know fear or hate. They believe the best in all people. They want to make a difference and see simplicity where we see complexity. They can change the world #LATICchat
A3. I usually describe teaching a lati classroom like watching a duck on the water. On the surface it seems calm but under the water those feet are furiously pumping to keep things moving. Ts have to keep furiously pumping to meet Ss where they are and level them up #LATICchat

A4. I think hearing them take ownership of their learning by asking questions and feeling free to start discussions. Also getting emails from kids when they are out of school asking for work or feedback on their work is so amazing. #LATICchat
You and @teacherschair have really done so much on this front. I adore that they email you all especially with feedback and activity lists for you #LATICchat
A5 when you sit back and observe all of your hard work.. love watching my kg Ss come in each morning & get started independently..
Signing up for feedback/ help/ scheduling/ learning š #LATICchat
I love that too. I was in a classroom yesterday and the student said whereās my sticky. They appreciate that you care and produce high quality work #LATICchat
A5 there are many but among the top are helping kids make strides in their learning by believing in them. Also when I visit the middle school having kids come up and say hello and talk about their favorite moments #LATICchat
A6. I love when we sing together. I love to sing and dance and it helps break up the day. Kids from previous years will see me in the hall and whisper jazz hands and we all crack up #LATICchat
A7 I want my children know that they can change the world, that hard work matters, that other peopleās opinions donāt make you who you are, kindness always counts. There so many options to learn and you choose your own path and destiny #LATICchat
A7. Iād give the freedom to learn whatever their hearts desire. I try to give them time to have passion projects but Iād love to do more individualized learning plans #LATICchat
This topic was warm and fuzzy. No question that our #LATIC Ts inspire, support, and create environments where students can become who they are meant to be #LATICchat
