A1 spelling and proper writing! I have to remind Ss we are not texting each other. And they always ask "Do we have to write in complete sentences?" Sigh #scitlap
Sorry...more Qs...I just want to make sure I have a solid definition...what makes them different from prior learners, or is 'digital natives' just a phrase to describe this group of kids? #scitlap
A2 Sigh my Chromebooks aren't working properly so this year has been hard! No Web Quests, no research, no interactives, no independent study... My Ss are missing out!

A2 when writing lesson plans for classes we always have to have an alternative for if technology does not work. When in a classroom doing observations all technology went down and the lessons were shot for the hour. #scitlap
Almost a good teaching exercise to remember that there are many, many ways to engage students. Had a friend who taught in Nigeria after being in affluent TX... had to rethink her skills! #scitlap
A3 - I teach 11th and 12th grade. I strongly encourage my Ss to take their notes pencil/pen on paper...requires more cognition and Ss retain more information. #scitlap
A3: With new @FOSSscience curriculum, Ss are required to write out their Focus Questions. Interactive notebooks have been great for writing practice. #scitlap
Yes! My walls are covered and I have no more room! It looks nice but what am I supposed to do with the rest! Not to mention the Ss asking "Where is my poster?" I have to make it a competition and the top overall wins wall space.

A3 as with everything else we want students to take seriously we need to make it relevant. I recently told a student if he was writing code for a program and his partner couldn’t read it, all of his work goes to waste. Immediate fix #scitlap
A2: This has actually happen to me a couple of times. Since then I have learned to always add an alternate activity in my lesson plans that doesn’t include technology. #scitlap
A3 When students are doing hands on activities in class anything that they need to write should be by hand because it will not take away from the activity as much along with the creativity. #scitlap
A3: Don't necessarily think cursive is necessary but I do think the skill of legible letter formation is important fine motor skill development #scitlap
A5 - Speaking from my experience as a sub in sci classrooms, there can be too much tech if teachers don't take the time to do hands on labs. Depend on tech to carry out the lab. #scitlap
A5: I believe that there is such thing as to much technology. There is just some things that technology can’t replace. For example, teaching the art of handwriting. #scitlap
A6 Depends on the intent of the P-T conference. Ss and Pts can view and ask about grades/HW without conf. More serious interventions need P conference F2F. #scitlap
We've been discussing PT conferences that are pretty traditional. Often you have parents come that have really successful kids. Definitely a parallel, but are there other ways to connect with them #scitlap
Good point...when does something become so ubiquitous that it isn't considered tech. Couldn't we say electricity is tech? If so, I change my answer to electricity... #scitlap
I recall having a huge discussion in one of my inst. tech classes in grad school over what tech is and that anything is tech really if it is of human construction. #scitlap
A7: Its hard to remember, in my 1st classrm I had an overhead. No teacher laptop, no Ss computers, paper gradebk & grade submission via bubble sheets at end of term. #scitlap#imOld
As a sub in a tech based school. Students had to sit around all day when the power went out. There was no backup plan, and they didn't cancel school. It was rough. All lessons are planned on the computer. #scitlap
Hey Everyone! We are still looking for hosts for 11/29 & 12/13. If you've wanted to try hosting this is your chance! Let me know! #scitlap#itsnotthathard#wewillhelp
