Welcome! Thank you for taking 30 minutes out of your busy evenings to join us at #PLN365. I can’t wait to collaborate with each of you. Let’s do a quick intro! Name? Position? And one thing people know you by? 😎
Paul from NJ. Educational Gamechanger who serves as a Supervisor of Special Education and World Language. I'm known as the guy who has contagious, positive energy. #pln365
#PLN365 A1: I feel a confidence level 8.5 using #ProblemBasedLearning and #ModelElicitingActivites. Education is forever changing so I am constantly collaborating with like-minded folks, like yourselves, and learning new, innovative solutions!
thinking about it, authentic PBL could be accomplished from any level with a community walk...what problems do you see in your immediate world? #PLN365
A2: In our classroom students inevitably creating the problem-based learning, or model eliciting activities based on our core concepts. If you listen to the student's questions and comments, let inspiration spark ideas! #PLN365
engagement for sure. EMPOWERMENT even more b/c they find what is important to them & find meaningful to solve #PLN365 we guide them using our expertise
I do love doing #PBL and having the Ss choose their focus, we are in our 2nd yr and took it global, connected thru our @edmodo CR and met other Ss, had discussions and used @Flipgrid to exchange videos, so authentic for us #pln365
We will share resources next, but I have done MEA (again very similar to PBL lessons) using kids movies. For example, How many thneeds does one actually need and how does it effect the ecosystem? #PLN365
A2: Creating future programming for students in World Language. We did our research as a team, reviewed the results and asked driving questions to uncover the issues. We then worked independently and collaboratively on different parts to create the whole. #pln365
A2) Create other opportunitiesto engage students and staff in authentic learning not just sit and get. #PBL has the power to enhance student discourse and discovery. #pln365
imagine the fulfillment solving a global issue could provoke? what kind of passion, satisfaction, and ownership that could possibly bring...wow. #PLN365

My most recent engagement was 1)students generating list of problems 2) designing a town, space, silo, model that would solve of demonstrate solutions to the problem. #beresourceful#PBL#pln365
A2: We had one class who started a #PBL on campus PSAs about campus expectations & procedures and then decided they want to focus on promoting acts of kindness and started all over! Serious student voice and choice! I encouraged them to go for it! #pln365
A2 the learning that leads the the solution in a pbl is all about decision making. What skills do I need to apply? What possible solutions can I generate? Ss need to ask and answer qs in order to come up with a viable solution and then decide if is the best solution #pln365

A2: In a most recent product - still going, students had to decide which problems (that they generated) were most prevalent to prioritize. Does that count? #pln365
A3. A powerful pbl usually combines subject areas so that way Ss can see how different content gets applied to solve a common goal. Lots of prep and planning on the ts part to facilitate skills in a sequential order #pln365
A3: @YouTube@Flipgrid@Twitter@instagram are just a few of the social services that we use to inspire students to collect and share evidence which is then used to begin shaping the decision making process. #pln365

A3 I started with reading some books, LAUNCH, Pure Genius and we had a skype chat w/ @DonWettrick , rely on the BIE and also read #hackingpbl and follow on Twitter and support of #pln#pln365
A3: Teaching decision making through drama. Scenarios. Mock Trials. Presenting a problem & giving them time to come to a solution given certain conditions and limits. I like being spontaneous. #pln365
I definitely like to blog about our experiences and reflections, huge help when planning next steps and also for sharing with others looking to get started #pln365

It has been tremendous over the past couple of years, was the first tool I started to use regularly in class and our uses have expanded so much, student -driven and this #PBL this year thru @edmodo has taken it to a whole new level, and the Ss are responding so well #pln365

A4: Maybe a "daily problem" where students generate a list of possible solutions or a weekly problem that becomes more complex each day, leading them towards a complex decision. #pln365
It was my pleasure! Thank you for inviting me to meet such amazing leaders in education! I will definitely be back to collaborate friends! Also, be sure to follow one another to continue the momentum! #PLN365
I really love this so much!! It opens so many doors, considerations of allergies too and other layered "problems" that students can work to solve! #pln365
