Good evening! Steve from NJ here. I teach game design and development to middle school students and do a lot with #ARVRinEDU as part of a large scale study of #VR in the classroom. Fav holiday tradition has definitely become watching ELF. Tis the season! #edtechbridge
Hey y'all! I'm Jenny from Apex, North Carolina, and I'm lucky to be a part of the wonderful @_ProjectEd (a boutique consulting firm specializing in edtech) #EdTechBridge
Tristan is here! had a stress test #esportsedu team meeting today to see which games our systems could handle at the high school. Looking like @LeagueOfLegends for this year... #edtechbridge
A1: I’m proud of the work I’ve done with my amazing colleagues at @SRMHSpride on Tech Integration. I’m most proud of the connections and relationships that I am building with staff. #EdTechBridge
A1: Biggest wins: Moving my middle school game club in the direction toward true #esports as we prepare to play other schools and also getting our HS #Esports team established - just started - big things ahead! #esportsedu#edtechbridge
A1 I'm proud of the #NYSSLS and #NGSS style science storylines I've been developing and incorporating. Took a great deal of PD and work to get where I am. #EdTechBridge
A1: Readjusting my thinking about content development for #VR to make it more accessible to students - big win! #minecraft as a design tool for #VR = unexpected but tremendous for so many reasons #edtechbridge
Rocket League is leading our middle school charge. League seems to be what it'll be at high school. partially since we noticed some hiccups in terms of our tech and Overwatch #edtechbridge
Q2: Reflect on a challenge that you or your school / company experienced this year and what steps did you take to overcome that challenge? #EdTechBridge
A2 Right now we are talking about how to merge the various activity calendars that we have at our school. We are starting to merge them using Google Calendar for a Master Calendar. Steps in the right direction. #EdTechBridge
A2: A challenge we've been encountering is that we have a program in #gamedesign at the middle school but haven't had something to offer at the high school to allow students to continue down that path. We have begun taking steps to create a program at the HS as well #edtechbridge
Q2: Reflect on a challenge that you or your school / company experienced this year and what steps did you take to overcome that challenge? #EdTechBridge
Hello, #EdTechBridge! Adrian from SoCal — I teach media literacy at the HS level! Favorite holiday tradition — opening presents at MIDNIGHT! No questions asked! Although, @PatriciaChanco might disagree! Thanks for the invite, @mr_isaacs! 🙌🏻
A2: Just one challenge?! I always struggle with balancing client projects & needs with the desire to stay up to date with the realities of the classroom. Twitter PLN to the rescue! #EdTechBridge
A2 I've been working to get kids in my gaming/esports club building computers. Many don't have tech at home. Searching for programs and companies to help. Reached out to some people but is a work in progress. #EdTechBridge
I'll be at #FETC19 ! @fetc and I would have presented with @mikekleba but instead I channeled him as a panel moderator while he was prancing around Australia :) Great guy - need to connect with him IRL soon! #edtechbridge
Q3: As a teacher is there an #edtech product that you wanted to see this year that just wasn't there? Was there a challenge you faced or a scenario in which you thought "If only I had a tech tool that would do this... #EdTechBridge
It is a work in progress. Sometimes it feels slow and then at other times you look back to what you accomplished in a 3 or 5 year and it can be mind blowing! #edtechbridge
A1: Hi everyone! Biggest win is the continuous learning I’m doing with my #PLN - love meeting all of you and being able to tell your amazing and inspirational educator stories via #Keynote or Podcast #EdTechBridge
Is Mike heading to FETC? I sure hope so. There are rumours of a possible game night. We may need @nathan_stevens to come and organize it with me! Sheep for wood! #games4ed#FETC19#FETC#edtechbridge
In reply to
@mrsjennyherrera, @fetc, @mikekleba, @nathan_stevens
I'd have to say the @OnEducationPod Podcast has been a pretty big win! You guys are crushing it! #edtechbridge (and btw everyone - yesterday was Irvarino's birthday)
For me, it’s a change in my entire philosophy — going from teaching content and skills to teaching kids to be empathetic leaders in their community. It’s been huge. #EdTechBridge
A3: We absolutely love the SEL #edtech products we've discovered this year. We'll just put this here in case any teachers wanted to discover some new tools 😀: https://t.co/8Zg9sxc7HQ#edtechbridge
A3 This week I was wishing there was a lux meter for chrome. There are a few for android and iphone but nothing I could find for chrome. BTW, a lux meter detects brightness/ambient light. #edtechbridge

A3: I would love to see a 4Cs app that has a way to manage ProJect Based Learning. The app would have a component for each C; Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity, & Collaboration. I have some thoughts about what it could look like. #EdTechBridge

Yes! It’s incredible what our youth can accomplish when they are simply given the platform! We need to give them way more opportunities and get out of their way! #EdTechBridge

A3: I'm still looking for that killer design tool that allows kids to create games / content for #VR with a learning curve not quite as steep as #unity3d#edtechbridge
A4:I wish I would have found a way to utilize our teacher board more. The craze of life & work got in the way, but I know they're an amazing resource and there's got to be a better way to engage that works for both parties. I can do better. @mr_isaacs@MsWillipedia#edtechbridge
A1 excited to be writing books and working with other educators to share stories, and having 1 of my students contributing a chapter :) I feel like I have learned a lot this year, #edtechbridge
A4: This is in easy one - I would tell my 2017 self to take a step back and work w/tools that are more intuitive for kids in terms of content creation in and for #VR. Having kids now create #VR content for minecraft has allowed them to gain confidence & see progress #edtechbridge
A2 always wanting to do more but not necessarily having enough resources, trying to think outside of the box, have 2 backup plans for every backup plan, and also by connecting with other educators #edtechbridge
A4: I would tell myself what I tell all of the teachers I work with. Start small and celebrate often. Look for opportunities to help students try with tech and see what happens. Take risk and own your own professional growth. Don't wait for a PD Session. #EdTechBridge

it is amazing, I am so proud of the work they do and this is just awesome to have a student chapter, cannot wait until this book is ready to share! #edtechbridge
A5: My #1 learners are our team at @_ProjectEd -we've speed-dated, raced w/ fly swatters, summarized w/ SWBST, took a tour many LMSs, & most importantly chatted live w/ educators. I'd love more strategies to engage w/ a mix of in-person & remote "students".
#EdTechBridge
A4 not try to get all of the things! I need to pace a little, have 2 360s that need to be used a bit, and of course my 2 Oculus Go, I need to be consistent with tech and also involve students more in learning with and from them #edtechbridge
A5 Using more student generated questions and student questioning techniques. Important part of science teaching I'd been missing. Having Ss ask questions is so easy and engagement is so high. #EdTechBridge
A5: I put a lot of the responsibility for learning in the hands of my students. They create their own games which is inherently engaging but as they need to make things happen that they WANT to happen they need to figure it out - definitely engaging! #edtechbridge
Hi everyone in the #EdTechBridge chat- super late to the game, I’m Christine, Director of Tech & Innovation from NJ. Looking forward to catching up on all of the great thoughts shared tonight.
A1: my biggest win this year was to jump out of my comfort zone and bring amazing new experiences like #ARVRinEDU and the beginning of #eSports to our students through partnerships like @bytespeed and @mr_isaacs#EdTechBridge
A1: my biggest win this year was to jump out of my comfort zone and bring amazing new experiences like #ARVRinEDU and the beginning of #eSports to our students through partnerships like @bytespeed and @mr_isaacs#EdTechBridge
A5 I definitely got out of the way more, used stations, PBL, student choices more, let them lead more often, and I had more time to work with them, build relationships, #edtechbridge
A6: Want to get out #esportsedu program at the high school fully up and running - leagues, competitions, serious practice, ancillary opportunities like shoutcasting, marketing, etc. #biggoals#edtechbridge
Class competitions for donuts and candy. Fewer summative assessments and usage of practicums instead. Fair amount of collaborative work too. #edtechbridge
A6: Really hope to get a game development program launched at our high school as a continuation of my middle school program. 2019 is gonna be busy!! #edtechbridge
A6: In 2019, I'd like to think better ways to engage w/ our teacher board & keep educator voice at the top. Personally, I'd like to work on balancing mom life & work too - maybe bringing baby to some conferences this year!
#EdTechBridge
A6 So many goals: 1 Get computer building program going 2 Continue developing and using #NGSS lessons and help fellow sci teachers 3 Help get 1:1 program going in district 4 Foster #stuvoice in classes #EdTechBridge
When people refer to PBL these, days are they referring more to Project Based Learning or Problem Based Learning (not that they are too different anyway...) @Rdene915@nathan_stevens#edtechbridge
A6: May personal goals.... I want to get better at @MicrosoftEDU tools and learn more about Instructional Design tools like Adobe Captivate and 360. #goals#EdTechBridge
A6: another goal (gee i have a lot) is to get better acquainted with my #insta360 camera and create some cool 360 / VR experiences (well really have my students create them) #edtechbridge
Outro: Thanks for joining us tonight! Please reintroduce yourself with name, role, and location. Let us know what your favorite part of this chat / biggest takeaway was. Happy Holidays!!! #EdTechBridge
Thank you! Jenny here representing @_ProjectEd from Apex, North Carolina. My favorite part was (Q3) hearing about what products teachers wish was out there! I would love to see these ideas develop into products in 2019. Bonus - loving for the holiday imagery too! #EdTechBridge
A6: I'm also excited to start using the Applied Digital Skills Curriculum from Google! It's so neat. I got to learn about it today with @ericcurts and some @wcpssitlms Friends. #EdTechBridge
Thanks for a great chat everyone. Love this community and all the insight - lot of goal setting and reflecting happening tonight! Have a wonderful holiday season. Sounds like we have our work cut out for us in 2019. Steve from NJ signing out! #edtechbridge
My favorite part of most chats is hearing the passions of other Ts and the awesome things they're doing. #EdTechBridge adds a cool shift with non-Ts sharing as well!
