Also had open 2 lunch periods per week for rotating Ss free time https://t.co/cFlbg0W3rE
A3: last yr, each class had 45 min time used w/library time each week
A3: depends, whenever it fits with what we are doing, genius hour, challenges
A3 I am hoping to get a lot more use out of it this year then last year.
Thx I like the idea of teachers playing in the maker space. I'm gonna start & have my Kinder team come and play.
Thanks so much. https://t.co/sHylvAVSqj
At the beginning of the year I got out a different activity each day to showcase/learn...towards the end of year they picked
I have to call it a night unfortunately but I look forward to catching up via the transcripts tomorrow! Great chatting w/ y'all!
A4: Our space is in the library and a small room next to it, need more space in the coming years, but hard find as school grows
pulleys, levers, chutes, bridges, etc
A4 Mine is in the center of the library as well as certain activities being in tubs that rotate between 3 schools.
A4-I believe we'll be using a shared activity space. In my classroom it's more of boxes on shelves that Ss can access
A5 I have one so that all students can tap into their creativity and make something they are passionate about
A5: Want my Ss 2 create something that ties in2 their learning, as well as find something they may have passion 4 thru makerspace
Any good sites/books/task cards for mini design challenges? 1hr or so?
A5 I want my students to explore & use their imaginations.
A5-Gets kids engaged in what we'er learning.Allows my academically struggling Ss to shine.& I love projs. where we build.
Ts pay Ts has several activities that are easily adapted for makerspaces
A5 Ive found it makes learning relevant and meaningful for my Ss. My Ss have become a lot more adaptable, collaborative thru it
Makerspaces are great for acad strugglers, helps see where they can be successful
We use a fairy tale STEM packet from TPT. It's all building to solve problems. https://t.co/9mSCySCpVG

Me, too. Feel overwhelmed with all the options. Want my kick off to be success. https://t.co/jhHXs0atkZ
Once it is made who do you see using it?
A5 Exploration and hands on creativity and development help engage Ss. Could just be helpful ie cell phone repair kit.
4 some it can be a much needed link to help improve their acad. Ss catch on to concepts they may not have otherwise
The hands-on aspect is great for those struggling
A6: The best way to make it work is T buy-in and a wonderful librarian like !
A6-I have no idea.I just will. Learning from you all, reading books, looking at your suggested websites&people to follow.
You will ROCK it!! Just keep trying new things and you will find what works best for you!
A6: Love the Tim Gunn Q! I find it takes Ss suggestions and open project time at the beg of year the into curricular projects
A6 I refuse to let it defeat me...while there are days it feels like chaos I know that is part of the process.
Great attitude and controlled chaos can be fun. :) https://t.co/VQ839QS6RA

A6 After all Makers Gonna Make no matter what :)
Controlled chaos is exactly how I run my class!
A6 I start small + gradually open choices during the year. Ss usually act responsibly with increased freedom bc they're engaged
Is there any other way???
Great chat tonight everyone! I hope you have super successful maker spaces in the coming year!
Such a great session for my very first . Thanks for all you shared. Thanks for leading it.
mistakes will be made 2 and those need to be seen as learning exp. A risk taking culture is good
