  • iluveducating Nov 25 @ 7:39 PM EST

  • saschnit Nov 25 @ 7:40 PM EST

  • _on11 Nov 25 @ 7:42 PM EST
A1: Up until several minutes ago, I would have type family, but it is the end of an extended break and everyone needs to go back to school. Poor decision making and now temper tantrums because there are consequences for being mean. #teachpos
  • twhite1489 Nov 25 @ 7:42 PM EST

A1. Showing Ss that we care about them and believe in them! Celebrating their successes, step by step, with them! Listening and sharing their stories, asking questions, finding information about their int. , likes and dislikes. #teachpos
  • Shapiro_WTHS - Moderator Nov 25 @ 7:43 PM EST
Here we go with Q#2. #teachpos
  • brpage12 Nov 25 @ 7:44 PM EST
This is so powerful both for relationship building but for performance in the classroom. Ss learn from adults they like! #teachpos
    • gdorn1 Nov 25 @ 7:43 PM EST

  • therequisos Nov 25 @ 7:45 PM EST
The Ss just beam when you tell them exactly why you’re thankful for them. It shows you see them. #teachpos

  • MsJachymiak Nov 25 @ 7:45 PM EST
A2: My Ss write me kind notes and truly take the time to have conversations with me because they want to know me better. #teachpos
  • brpage12 Nov 25 @ 7:45 PM EST
A2: Many times, through notes or just a "thank you". The most subtle way, however, is a change in the classroom for the better & always checking to see if I'm watching & recognizing them! #teachpos
  • Shapiro_WTHS - Moderator Nov 25 @ 7:45 PM EST
A2 - Students tell me and show me that they enjoy class and live spending time together. It’s gratifying how much they care about learning. #teachpos
  • LevineWrites Nov 25 @ 7:45 PM EST
    A2: 1. Hugs 2. Smiles 3. Hard work 4. Reciprocal kindness #teachpos
  • PHausTech Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: Ss show their appreciation of Ts kindness & empathy inherently though no classroom issues. How great is it for Ts to see Ss pay it forward with kindness & empathy? #teachpos
  • Teachintjay Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: My Ss show their gratitude with little notes, sweet treats, offer me their snack, try to help with my duties, and help keep the room clean. Some also do it with hugs and random fist bumps. #teachpos
  • twhite1489 Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: I have the best Ss. They ask if they can do anything to help me, offer hugs if they see me upset or a little stressed. A few told another T that I should be a guidance counselor, that was the best one yet. Let's me know they feel safe talking to me. #teachpos
  • HalcottMStech Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
Missy Halcott, York PA coming in late. Happy Thanksgiving to all! #teachpos
  • tjggmueller Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: I get hugs, hand drawn pics, and even a "On my breaks, Mrs. Mueller, I kinda sorta miss you." I also believe that my kids work extra hard to achieve my high expectations when I show them kindness. #teachpos
  • iluveducating Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: They work hard in my class. Even though it isn't graded and there is no accountability after they walk out the door, they still respect the learning. They also thank me by asking me to sponsor their clubs or asking my opinion about things important to them. #teachpos
  • kruevans Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: I don't need to hear it. The best way is just watching students take ownership over their own learning. Once they do that, they can do anything. #Teachpos
  • saschnit Nov 25 @ 7:46 PM EST
A2: My Ss give me notes and will verbally say things to me about how they appreciate me. As well, when I meet with Ps they say that their child has great things to say. Little gifts randomly appear. They’re the best! #teachpos
  • HalcottMStech Nov 25 @ 7:47 PM EST
A1) Hellos, handshakes, smiles, and reminders that they are the reason we are here! #teachpos
  • amynicolebettis Nov 25 @ 7:47 PM EST
They write me the sweetest notes, draw precious pictures, and give the best hugs! (I teach kindergarten - so my Ss are very free with their expression!!) #teachpos
  • Mr_Meals Nov 25 @ 7:47 PM EST
A2: They trust me...even when the content is hard or it doesn't make sense just yet. They stick with it because we've built a sense of community in our classroom. I so appreciate that from my kiddos...they're not afraid of a challenge! #TeachPos
  • twhite1489 Nov 25 @ 7:47 PM EST
Ours is awesome! We submit a Google form, the assistant principal calls them up, they get a candy bar, a letter and a phone call home to their parents. One parent started crying and wanted to know the size of the letter because they were framing it. #teachpos

  • therequisos Nov 25 @ 7:48 PM EST
A2: When you know that they have done their best no matter the struggle. When they ask how they can become better. #teachpos
  • HalcottMStech Nov 25 @ 7:48 PM EST
A2: Hugs, high 5's, handshakes, smiles, and pictures, cards, and notes. They do things to make us smile in return. #teachpos
  • PaulWHankins Nov 25 @ 7:48 PM EST
A2: I got to read a "Reading Autobiography" from a former #Room407 student who is now in undergraduate studies in Secondary Education. In her piece, she cites our stance in regard to Reading Counts. And she appreciated the freedom to read without quizzes. I was moved. #teachpos
  • LindaEdwardsi Nov 25 @ 7:48 PM EST
A2 My students say thank you, write notes and draw pictures to show they are thankful #teachpos

A2~ the best ways of all are when they treat each other w/kindness & empathy ~ esp when those hairy moments arise in school ~ I often find myself with “tears of joy” &step back, let it all sink in &then we talk about this ~ FYI awesomesauce =thankfulness #Teachpos
  • CristinaDajero Nov 25 @ 7:49 PM EST
A2: They stop by each morning to say hello & get hugs, say goodbye each afternoon, leave me thoughtful notes & bring me homemade goodies to display on my desk. They take time out of their day to think of me which shows they care #teachpos
  • Shapiro_WTHS - Moderator Nov 25 @ 7:49 PM EST
You ladies and gents are amazing. Your students are blessed to have you. Get ready for Q3. #teachpos
  • DennisDill Nov 25 @ 7:49 PM EST
How do kids thank me for my kindness ... they act differently in my room than they do in others. #teachpos
  • mikefauteux Nov 25 @ 7:49 PM EST
A2: I create time for them to write digital thx notes w/ @givethxapp to their peers and teachers (and admin). It helps make it a positive habit & it provides safe access for those not comfortable publicly doing so. It also happens to be positively contagious :) #teachpos #givethx
  • LevineWrites Nov 25 @ 7:49 PM EST
Great answer! They do this for me as well. This makes good sense. #teachpos

How do kids thank me for my kindness ... they act differently in my room than they do in others. #teachpos
  • BridgetGengler Nov 25 @ 7:50 PM EST
A2: They give me high fives, secret handshakes, smiles, hugs. They write me notes and spend time sharing with me things about their lives. #teachpos
  • flyingmonkey13 Nov 25 @ 7:50 PM EST
A2: Asking students for feedback is the best way for us to know why they think and feel. Sometimes it’s not what we want to hear, but being responsive and showing kids that we care and hear their voices is so important. Hugs help too. #teachpos
  • gdorn1 Nov 25 @ 7:50 PM EST
A2. Our Ss will write thank you notes, tell us when they really like and enjoy learning in an activity or project. Ss will give us hugs! Share special stories with us, too! #teachpos
  • Shapiro_WTHS - Moderator Nov 25 @ 7:50 PM EST
Here is Q3 - Thank you again. #teachpos
  • gwena_walker Nov 25 @ 7:51 PM EST
Good evening, all! T from IN. #teachpos
  • PaulWHankins Nov 25 @ 7:51 PM EST
The student had included a picture of me she had found out there in Google images wherein I am standing in front of our #Room407 book cases. It was a nice touch. And sentiment. We were able to reach one of them. There are more, I know. In time, we'll reach them too. #teachpos
  • kruevans Nov 25 @ 7:51 PM EST
A3: Smile. Give them the time and space to read, write, talk, struggle, learn, and GROW. I won't worksheet them to death. #Teachpos

A3: My Ss will actually get to choose a Christmas song to learn for the holidays! #teachpos
  • PHausTech Nov 25 @ 7:52 PM EST

  • MsJachymiak Nov 25 @ 7:52 PM EST
A3: I am having my students write their goal on a post it and hang it on my door. I will continue to teach from the heart because my kids deserve it. #teachpos
  • brpage12 Nov 25 @ 7:52 PM EST
A3: I will work with my co-teacher to create a data wall outside between our two rooms where Ss will set a goal and track their journey to achieving it! They get excited about moving that point forward! #teachpos
  • gwena_walker Nov 25 @ 7:53 PM EST
A2: Sometimes they tell me, sometimes they write thank you notes to me, and they are generally respectful to me for the most part. #teachpos
  • saschnit Nov 25 @ 7:53 PM EST
A3: Empowerment and Ss choice. My major focus for my Ts going into our second trimester is Ss choice and empowerment. Putting the learning on the Ss to help them with owning their learning and how they learn. #teachpos
  • flyingmonkey13 Nov 25 @ 7:53 PM EST
A3: One thing I will not do is ask about break. For some of our babes, break is the hardest thing. Instead, I will tell them how glad I am they are back. That this place is not the same without them. #teachpos
  • Teachintjay Nov 25 @ 7:53 PM EST
A3: I've thought about this for a week. Tomorrow, my Language Arts class will be no less rigorous but more student-centered with many more student choices and opportunities to write creatively. #teachpos

  • twhite1489 Nov 25 @ 7:53 PM EST
A3: Make sure to find something positive about ALL students, tell them, and not always linked to academics. #teachpos
  • HalcottMStech Nov 25 @ 7:53 PM EST
A3: As a coach I have been working hard with my colleagues to design and offer an all day PD that is personalized completely by educator choice. Can't wait to offer this opportunity for personalized PD that will trickle down to our learners. #teachpos
  • inspirecitizen1 Nov 25 @ 7:54 PM EST
#teachpos A2: They show up and understand that while we're not always at our best, we'll be there for one another to make the learning experiences and community always safe and hopeful. We listen to each other and work for each other.
  • gwena_walker Nov 25 @ 7:54 PM EST

A3 - I’m going to givethx to all of my students. #teachpos
  • StephDill92 Nov 25 @ 7:54 PM EST

What will I do to inspire ... push the kids ... make their head hurt ... redefine what is possible. Just another day in the Green Dragon Studio #teachpos
  • Mr_Meals Nov 25 @ 7:55 PM EST
A3: Be inspired by what I teach! I need to be a model of curiosity and wonder. If I don't teach like this is the first time I'm learning it...how on earth am I going to get kids jazzed about winterizing a landscape?? #TeachPos
  • PaulWHankins Nov 25 @ 7:55 PM EST
A3: I'm coming back to #Room407 after an extended time out of the room. NCTE/ALAN and then Thanksgiving Break. I'll show some of the pictures from Houston of authors we read and know. Reconnect with the work together. It's a sprint toward Winter Break now. Need to slow. #teachpos

#teachpos
