Hey all... John 3rd grade T from STL MO... Twitter opens the door to a myriad of possibilities that I nvr would have known about or considered otherwise #NT2t
I always loved having the kids help me decorate the room. It gave the message that this is OUR room, not mine. Lesson to be learned...pronouns are important; they send a powerful message. #NT2t
I am Julie, co-founder and today's moderator. I work in higher ed as an instructional designer. I live in Missouri, USA. I love how Twitter joins educators together globally so we can all learn from each other. So much power in connecting with others. #NT2t
Good morning #NT2t! I’m Amy - a kindergarten teacher/curriculum writer from Texas. I love implementing new ideas I’ve found on Twitter in my classroom - it has changed my classroom for the better!!
Good morning from Utah! Jared from the Utah Education Network here. I’m a statewide technology coach and adjunct faculty at the U of U. Love twitter for the connections I make with great educators from across the world. #nt2t
Hello everyone! Welcome to #NT2t We are thrilled to have you here. Time for introductions. Read the card and tell us a little something about yourself. Remember to add our hashtag, #NT2t to your response.
Hey everyone! Im@caitlin, 2nd grade teacher, and my fav thing about Twitter is learning from other amazing educators so I can better serve my students. #NT2t
Hi everyone! Im Amanda Arnold, I am a college student at Kent State university majoring Behavior Analysis. This is my first time in a a tweet chat and excited to be apart of this chat! #nt2t
I'm a parent from Connecticut and a humble member of the #nt2t team. I work in education but it's joining Twitter that truly made me part of the education community. It's about all of us stakeholders working and learning together!
Hello everyone! Welcome to #NT2t We are thrilled to have you here. Time for introductions. Read the card and tell us a little something about yourself. Remember to add our hashtag, #NT2t to your response.
Before this, I always thought of twitter just as a social media platform that was used too loosely. I was introduced to the twitter chats by a professor and loving the idea! #Nt2t
A1: I thought Twitter was the STUPIDEST THING I'd ever heard of! We were asked to sign up for an account during a keynote and tweet each other. I thought, why would I do that when these people are right next to me! How little I knew in 2008! #NT2t
A1: I thought Twitter was just another social network - but one that limited my use of words (and as a ELA girl I have LOTS of words to express!!)... so I wasn’t very excited about it at first. #NT2t
A1: I used it to follow @ochocinco and other players from my favorite NFL team. I didn’t really understand that I could use it as a platform to share my knowledge or learn knowledge from others till much later. #NT2t
A1) Not much! I was thrown by the definition of Twitter as a "micro-blog"; it wasn't till a colleague and I started a blog that I decided to get on Twitter to complement it. Then this quickly became a world in itself. #nt2t
A1 Like many Ts I thought Twitter was just another social media tool. I tried using it to take notes at conferences, but it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. It took me a while to figure out the power of the PLN. #nt2t
A1: Very low... I was an anti-Tweetite Thought it was only for mass marketing and celebrities... what could possibly be said in 140 characters??? #NT2t
A1: Twitter is still overwhelming with all the hash tags and I always thought I would never get the hang of it. It seemed to much info without organization #NT2t
A1: I thought of twitter as just another social media cite. I had no idea it was capable of getting me into contact with others in my field. My professor introduced me to tweet chats and its a really cool idea! #nt2t
And Twitter, at least when I first got on, doesn't do anything to dispel that notion. The first accounts it recommended following were celebrities (and probably news). #nt2t
Hello #NT2t - Stephan here. In the middle of a class here, so stopping by to wish you all a great chat and my best to my co-mods @shyj@JeremyDBond@hturk139@seni_bl
Grab your coffee and send me a donut! #NT2t is just 30 minutes away (8amCDT-global times on pic). Share your experiences and help mentor new teachers as they join Twitter!
It’s Saturday morning. A great time to work on your @iste proposals. I would love to see your research proposals!!!!! Need help? ASK!!! #nt2t#Satchat#iste2019
I loved using it to take notes but my mistake was waiting to tweet out later. At one point Twitter suddenly wiped all my drafts clean, and my notes were gone. I was SO frustrated! #nt2t
Me too! After I started following some excellent educators and joining chats, I started to get it. Now, the friendships I have developed and the knowledge I have gained keep me inspired to keep going. #NT2t
Like what they had for dinner...I mean really...who cares? It is soooo much more than that! This is why this chat was started; to connect educators around the world to make a positive impact. #NT2t
One thing I’ve learned: if our students’ capacity for attention is only 140 characters long, then it’s time to change the way we present our knowledge to them! #NT2t
It can be, but you start off slowly. Find some key chats and hashtags and explore those. As you spend time here it will get easier and you will discover more and more. #NT2t
I never really used twitter until now, didn't occur to me that it would be a great took to get into contact with other educators and professionals out there. #nt2t
A2 What hooked me to Twitter was my first time in an edchat! Once I realized I could connect and learn from great educators from anywhere - I was all in! That’s when the People stared filling my PLN…#nt2t
Yeah, the connections I have made globally are incredible! I feel like I am so much better at my job, and as a person, because all I have learned. #NT2t
A2: When I first joined Twitter I let it sit for about 3 years. Then I found #gardenchat and fell in love! From there I found educators and haven't looked back since. I can't believe how much I have learned from everyone! #NT2t
A2: Had to join for my very last 2nd Masters class... hated the idea and figured I'd follow the class requirements and then jettison Twitter after that... got invited to this chat and found other interests and was hooked #NT2t
A2) As I mentioned, had started a blog with a colleague, realized people promote blogs on Twitter... so my first tweet did just that. Also, it was a 2-day snowstorm off work, and I wanted to be productive in some way! (wasn't "allowed" to work because the state was closed)
#nt2t
A2: I started because of my teacher. I am currently doing my masters and during my technology class we had to create an account. I have now 2 weeks to tweet 100 time😂but honestly...I love the connections #NT2t
I started using Twitter for a class. Im working with Fairfield University to earn a certificate in Edicational Technology. This chat is currently what’s hooking me! 😊 #NT2T
A2: I joined to follow celebrities, and soon realized this platform made it possible to connect with people who would never normally end up in my circle. Twitter makes it so easy to jump into chats without jumping through hoops. #NT2t
Hi! I am also a kindergarten teacher. I would love to hear any of your great ideas you come across! I am so new to Twitter and haven't yet been able to find it helpfull for my classroom! #NT2t
Welcome to Twitter Brittany! Best advice I can give is start slow, interact with others (we want to hear what you have to say!), and ask for help when you need it. That's why we are here! #NT2t
A1 cont.) And what hooked me at first (because it took me a while to discover chats) is the ability to connect with the source of whatever I read and shared. I’d tag the author and they’d respond. Sounds funny but I’d never experienced that before. #nt2t
I think it is great that there are classes out there pushing educators into this online world of PD... it may not be for everyone, but all should give it a try #NT2t
A2: my professor introduced me to twitter chats. This is my first one and so far I'm really loving it! being able to get others views, information and advice is very helpful and fun! #nt2t
A2: At an EdCamp session led by @nancybinghamHEB - she took everything step by step and helped me to see the network of educators out there/understand how I could connect to their new ideas. Once my eyes were opened to how Twitter could help me grow/learn, I was hooked! #nt2t
A1: About 9 yrs I ago I was a Tech Director in a small community with big ideas. I needed support and resources for these ideas., other people on Twitter with bigger ideas pushed and supported mine! #NT2t
What a great resource you’ve found - while you’re still in college. You’re way ahead of the game. These chats will really help you make some great connections. I’d suggest finding your state chat as well. Great to connect locally. #nt2t
I sometimes want to shake Twitter's marketing team and say, Don't you realize what we're using this for? (I was at Twitter's HQ once, but wouldn't have actually done it!) #nt2t
It is!!! That is par tof the reason why we started this chat; to help teachers who are new to Twitter get started. We also want to get those new to teaching connected with others who can mentor and be a friendly face. #NT2t

Great to hear. Wonder if it's still few and far between or whether professors of education have largely seen the light about it? @JudyArzt#teacheredchat#nt2t

A3: I'm fairly certain this chat was my first... I was invited by someone to attend. I may have lurked in others before but certainly this was first I felt comfortable enough answering in... #NT2t
A3: My first chat was #gardenchat - I love learning from gardeners all over the world. My first educational chat was #edchat I couldn't believe my luck in finding other out-of-the-box educators like myself! #NT2t
It really is and we hope to continue to spread the "Twitter love" to everyone so they can do the same. My motto is #BetterTogether because we can do so much to support each other! #NT2t

A3: My first chat was mschat during my class. Our teacher made us join together that evening. I struggled with the format as well as formulating some kind of smart answer #NT2t
A3: #EdTechAfterDark was my first. I still participate in it weekly. It was like...a place where we were encouraged to contemplate the tough questions that teachers have but don’t know who to discuss them with. It was/is amazing! #NT2t
A2) One semester, one of my favourite professors from @BUWheelock, @cmleider and another professor, Dr.Bennes had us make Twitter accounts for their respective classes to Tweet reactions to class discussions and reading assignments. #NT2T
Exactly, and you get to pick and choose who you follow, how much time you want to dedicate, and what you want to learn. It's a win-win for educators. #NT2t
I love learning from others and seeing different views on everything. I hope to learn more and become better with my future career using these chats! :) #nt2t
A3: Well, this being my first twitter chat, I can say what is drawing me to it is the sense of community everybody has here. Everybody is is welcoming. #NT2T
Ha... I'm sure... hosting a chat is a whole other level... have done it once for #DitchBook and it was awesome but lightspeed paced. Hope to do so again #NT2t
A3) My first Twitter chat was with #PLN365. I loved it because it was about a 30min time commitment, I got to meet educators from different parts of the world, and with the hashtag, I can always go back to read through the Tweets when I have more time. #NT2T
GUESTS WANTED: Have you always wanted to give moderating a chat on Twitter a try but didn't know how to do it? #NT2T would love to have guest moderators. Fill in this form here https://t.co/QSyYHqCjiY
Q2: I actually joined Twitter because it was an assignment for my Masters class. I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm hooked yet. I'm trying to be open minded, but I'm just not finding it to be the most user friendly yet. I'm still having trouble navigating. #NT2t
A3: My first twitter chat was last night #engagechat I was drawn to it because I needed to participate but I also found the topic very interesting #nt2t
I cant stress enough the importance of connecting globally as well. Not only are state chats amazing (and don't be afraid to jump in any state chat) but the opportunity to learn with others around the world....that's just crazy-good! #NT2t
Brittany - I’ve given the same assignment to my students and some have a similar issue. Best advice I have is hashtags - find a good one and follow it for a while. Tools like tweetdeck help too. #nt2t
The stream can be a bit awkward... especially at first. Have you heard of/used Tweetdeck? It can help you follow hashtags or people and see things easier #NT2t
A3: My first chat was #g2great - I was drawn in because my edu-superstars were chatting there and they have authentic conversations on ELA topics I face in my classroom every day... I somehow won @Kari_Yates and @ChristinaNosek new book during the chat so I was hooked!! #NT2t
Please Brittany, just ask. We are all here to help you out. And, be patient with yourself. There is a bit of a learning curve, but I know you'll get the hang of it! #NT2t
A3: I am currently participating in my first twitter chat! The fact that it is a chat for new teachers to twitter chat is what drew me in. I am not new to twitter but I am to these chats. This chat is very inviting and welcoming! #nt2t
That is key...find what you are interested in. You can use the search function in Twitter and lug in your search term, like "reading" and see who is talking about it and what hashtags are being used. #NT2t
A4: My schedule decides what chats I can participate in and what I can't. It's way too easy to spend a ton on time here, but balance is needed. I add calendar reminders for my fav chats for good measure. #NT2t
A4: I have certain favs that I do weekly, using reminders to remind me an hr before the chat. Others, like today’s, I join when I find someone I follow participating. I love how easy it is to jump in when I have atime@or a topic catches my interest. #NT2t
A4: Typically I chose based on interest and time (busy home life = slower chat life). But I have about 3 I try to make regularly b/c the ideas are great and so are the people #NT2t
A4:Im still struggling to find meaningful ones in my area of teaching and not sure how to search yet for them. I looked up a list but half did not exist anymore #NT2t
A3) #gtchat, My daughter had been put in a gifted/talented program and I was a bit confused about it. Somehow found the chat. Soon afterward I joined #ptchat (parent/teacher), perfect for a parent like me. That doesn't still run but it led to my involvement in @ParentCamp. #nt2t
Some chats use Remind (you sign up) to email you about the chat coming up... but I usually miss those reminders too. I think some even can text you a reminder but I don't sign up for that... too many texts as is #NT2t
I am...not a gardener. But I love that twitter brings all interests together! Education, sports, gardening...even the shyest of introverts can open up on this platform! #NT2t
In reply to
@shyj, @JeremyDBond, @amynicolebettis, @SaraMason760
And if the list is overwhelming, start with one or two and as people get to know you they begin introducing you to others that meet your interests. #nt2t
I think that’s part of why I was so skeptical of Twitter. I don’t like being attached to my phone. I’ve hidden most notifications, except for texts #nt2t
I don't have the Twitter app on my phone... but access it through the phone's web browser... FB app notifications are annoying enough. Don't need those notification numbers always beckoning me 😎 #nt2t
I do not have Twitter notifications turned on my phone either. I need balance in my life and when I have time, I will tune in. If I don't, I won't. #NT2t
I was anti-increasing the limit for a while because Twitter had floated the idea of turning it into a full-size blog. But once they actually kept it at 280 it does make it easier. #nt2t
If you open a new tab in your browser and type in https://t.co/nPGYQbx5we I believe it should open up and then it associates/links to your twitter account. You can open up different columns to follow tags or people #nt2t
A5: Benefit - the collaboration, sharing, and friendships for sure! Downside - I want to speak and share with everyone 24/7 but really...who can do that? 🤣 #NT2t
A4) I have two I try to join weekly, #EduGladiators and #PLN365. the other community, #ELLchat is an on-going resource I go to when I need advice! Otherwise, I'll see what other chats are happening when I have some time to get on Twitter. #NT2T
A5) Biggest benefit - the diversity of experiences, background, culture, knowledge, and skills. It's like taking a methods course, just for free and MUCH MORE FUN!
Drawback - you can get sucked into spending SO much time on here... #NT2T
Q5: I am still in the excited phase of connecting with teachers alike and getting new ideas. Once I can balance how much time I chose to spend on Twitter( after my class) I can't see draw backs #NT2t
A4) My calendar is chock-full of as many as I discover that I might be interested in. I check the topics regularly to determine if I want to join that day (if I'm available). #nt2t
A5: I think one of the greatest benefits of this is the community of educators that come together. I think I’ll benefit from seeing what other 3rd grd teachers are doing across the globe! #NT2T
A5: How it pushed me to be better is a great benefit. It has also drawn me closer to colleagues in real life. The connections are awesome. Drawbacks - time away from other things; can also run into 'edu-evangelicals' who think they hold the only answers #NT2t
A5: connection is the greatest part of twitter! Biggest drawback is that sometimes I remember to ❤️ a post but do not follow up in real life with using that newfound knowledge. Make an action plan with your twitter wisdom so the learning doesn’t stay online. #NT2t
A4: This is a great question - I still feel a bit overwhelmed by all the options. When I’m free, Twitter is my new fave hobby so I turn on the computer, look at my list of chats happening soon, and jump on! #NT2t
A5: I think one of the drawbacks of this is going to be the need to feel like I always have to post something. I don’t like being always connected #ironic but I’m seeing there’s ways to find balance #nt2t
The excitement for connecting with others hasn't waned for me at all, but I did struggle with finding balance at first. Just keep your time here manageable for you and please, do NOT be concerned with numbers of followers. That mean NOTHING! #NT2t
A5) Biggest +: The connections! YOU all. Being part of a community.
Biggest -: Can sometimes be drawn into feel-goodism, talking about change but never putting into action.
#nt2t
A5: Benefit - I get to build relationships. Drawback, some (NOT all) educators have gotten a bit carried away with their egos. It's going to happen and we can choose to follow them or not. #NT2t
A5: Benefit - building a #PLN that challenges, grows, and supports me as I do the same for my Ss. Challenges - keeping up with great ideas in fast flying chats, not being overwhelmed with ALL the awesome ideas (trying to pick 1 to tackle at a time), authentic responses. #NT2t
First thing I would do is identify what exactly it is you need. Don't go for an app first and figure out how you might use it. Identify need first, then find an app. #NT2t
There are some people who write books whom I admire and I'm glad they're here. It depends: Are they all about selling themselves or are they an equal part of the conversation? As long as they're listeners I'm grateful for their expertise. #nt2t
A6: I’m interested in tech integration in the classroom and using it in ways to transform my teaching. Also, I’m interested in experience with small class sizes. I have 6 students this year, so it’s a very different dynamic than I’m used to #NT2T
LOL...well that's a good thing. People who get caught up with numbers of followers (and there are some who do) have lost sight of why we are here (or at least me). I am here to learn, grow, share, and collaborate. Not into the popularity thing. #NT2t
MODERATORS WANTED: Have you always wanted to give moderating a chat on Twitter a try but didn't know how to do it? #NT2T would love to have guest moderators. Fill in this form here https://t.co/QSyYHqkHUo
A6) Bringing more stakeholders into conversations like this. My role here is as a parent. We need more parent voices, more community voices, more KID voices...
Oh wait, I'm part of the #nt2t team... guess I just assigned myself a topic. ;) #nt2t
Grab your coffee and send me a donut! #NT2t is just 30 minutes away (8amCDT-global times on pic). Share your experiences and help mentor new teachers as they join Twitter!
And people who are interested in what you have to say, or just appreciate connecting with people like you, are going to build your following. The value is in each of those connections. #nt2t
