How about trying a question? It's a broad topic, but give a definition for "Innovation" as it relates to education.
A1. to find out how innovative a candidate is in an interview, ask how they cultivate innovation in their students

A1:You get to create a school from scratch with no boundaries. How is it different from the schools you have worked in or visited?
me too-I heard this guy in Ireland share a resource where kids created a virtual space and explored it using oculus-
Q2: What's the coolest idea you've had for school and never tried?

A2: I want my students to design a water park. Wrote the plan in school but haven't done it. YET.
A2. I want to build a magic tree house in the library!
I had my students design their own business. It was a great expierence to see what they came up with.
I want students to design/redesign instructional norms. Or have a place at the table

A2: I love when the idea involves students doing, designing, building, creating for a REAL purpose to offer REAL solutions
My students final project will be an introductory website for incoming 8th graders.

Was checking their progress today. The scale of it is somewhat mind-boggling
A3: I've run a class with no grades. I told the class I wasn't going to and that they would just do stuff. That led to the DDL.
: As a HS Math Teacher I love where your head's at! You can do it for $12 per 4X8 sheet of Board at Lowes.
I've done it with 5th grade, but I felt like I was in the way. Want to try again.

A4: My first time I ever attempted to teach I scripted the entire dialog in my head. Terrible Idea! Was filled with anxiety.

A4: clay animation- biggest thing I learned- very engaging, takes time and dried clay figures do not move well
It can be a cheap venture- can be done with foam tubing, tape, & marbles. Can get more elaborate with stick build!
providing a structure like notice/wonder or QFT model to allow students to ask their own Qs
I love games and LEGOs, too!!! We need to play more!
A4: Assuming the kids know or understand a concept... Because I am excited to get to the application

a4 Probably the biggest failure came in first year as a music teacher... details are fully repressed now.
A4: I gave long term project on Greek culture without enough check ins...Result a great project on Winslow Homer
A4 memorization vs applications of concepts...."knowledge" from memorization only lasts a few days
A4: Epic fail during student teaching. Resolved to NEVER let a day like that happen again. So far, so good ;)

Integer football during student teaching. ALL students need to be engaged, not just one... And who gave them a football?
A4: Pt1: Created this great problem with excel to show people the power of computational thinking. Made class hate excel.

Definitely felt nervous when students had their own device. Fell flat several times and fell forward.
I was not prepared! or... I was not prepared to know how much I didn't know. Probably college did the best they could

That's pretty epic right there

A5: All of us can learn something new every day. Don't ever stop learning
How would you incorporate 3D printing in your classes? For geography classes I can see unlimited potential!
showing step by step, not allowing students to struggle/formulate their own thinking

A5: Allow people to take risks.Encourage ideas. Expect failure in order to move forward. Celebrate risks & problem solving effort
A4: Letting other Ts talk me out of trying out the "crazy" ideas I had at first. Should've done it all earlier! Different is good!
A5: Encourage teachers/admins to try new things, celebrate the successes and support them if it flops.
A5 Find out what makes the students tick, what is their passion
A5: Adopt the motto "Move fast. Break things."
A5 I've been reading about Iterative Design Process. I like it better than a "fail forward" type approach for innovation
A5: Not to be afraid to try something new Growth happens when we are uncomfortable.
Q5 all students can exceed expectations with goal setting and scaffolding.

A5: remember that "Discovery cannot be setup: invention cannot be scheduled"-Seymour Papert innovation takes time and trial/error
A5: support - being visible to observe new risks being taken, sound board for reflection, celebration of new learning
a5 Understanding perspectives is key & staying positive. It's easy to slip into thinking and talking only about what isn't working
Q6: Last Question: What's some of the barriers you face from being able to TRULY INNOVATE??!?!?!?
A5.1 An admin who models learning and takes on the role as a "lead learner" for teachers can really be a powerful innovation force

A5: Make creativity & innovation enough of a priority they hire a Chief Creativity Officer (CCO) who provides ideas/support.
A5: make sure you make clear why you are doing something. Must know what and how to do, but knowing why allows improvement.

A6: face to face collaboration, share like mindsets, celebrating successes and suggestions how might we...make it better?
A6 SO THANKFUL that Ts at have very very few, if any, barriers to innovation

This is the difficult part! Important, but so difficult, and not just in education

A6: Sometimes we are so focused on the outcome that we forget to enjoy the journey
Not Enough! But the kids know where its at! !
