Hi, #TOSAchat! I'm Jody, an Academic Coach in Ed Tech in La Habra, CA. Lots of #supermuch things last week, but the best was when an employee at the restaurant where my family and I were dining bought us dessert b/c his son goes to the school where I worked as admin last year š
šš¾ Hi Everyone. Itās Nyree from SoCal and went to see a former night school football player play his LAST season at Fresno State. That was #supermuch@TosaChat#TOSAchat

Hi Pam Rabin, SDUSD Instructional Technology Resource Teacher and @SanDiego_CUE board member...but starting next Monday, Project Specialist in Educational Technology for the San Diego County Office of Education !!! #supermuch#tosachat
Hi #TOSAchat ! I'm Steph. Lots of hats this year: TOSA, New Tech teacher & Dept Chair, Yearbook Adviser. A #supermuch moment of the week: helping 4 different staff who consider themselves non-techies. They were willing to ask & try. Win-win!
Please introduce yourself! Include your role and something #supermuch that happened to you last week #TOSAchat.

A1: My focus as a coach is always on how we can get Ss making things and using tech in Ss-centered ways. I model and get Ts and Ss to create something novel and useful as much as possible, whether it's on iPads or in a physical project. #tosachat#supermuch
A1: We are working to help our teachers & site leaders understand that student creativity and content creation is #supermuch better than assessment, intervention, and drill and skill babysitter programs. #TOSAchat.
A1: I built up a repertoire of skills and lessons this summer #DitchSummit#ISTE18#HIVEsummit#EduSlam. I share via weekly tech tips and model in classrooms. Also incorporated in PD opportunities #TOSAchat
A1 I was at a school that revamped their library to make it more of a learning commons. We started hosting tech lessons there to have more areas do innovate. #TOSAchat@TosaChat
Kelly from Tahoe. EdTech & Curriculum Coordinator. It was two weeks ago but our staff development day was seamless! Therefore it was #SuperMuch#tosachat
A1) Fostering creativity means helping teachers see the possibilities, I think getting educators together to share ideas and experience design theory and creation tools, helping them find their passion, and then getting out of their way is the best thing I try to do! #tosachat
A1: Our 24/7 initiatve has helped with this. When we roll-out devices we make an effort to involve parents, teachers, and admin. We are here to support the new risks involved so that our students can have equal access. #TOSAchat
In new building this year. Creative spaces: Cafe style seating in the hallway, tables around room borders to expand, tables on casters to move. Chromebook carts. Goal- inspire outside new building. Digitally, I help teachers and students organize in drive. #TOSAchat#supermuch
Iām Eric. Although I know they want me to write the letters of rec, it was so nice to hear the appreciation from students in my class for how I made Calculus the most fun part of their day #supermuch#TOSAchat
24/7 initiatives put Ts and Ss in new situations where innovation has to happen in order to make the best use of the tools. Involving everyone makes it all come together! #tosachat#supermuch
A2 My big project for the year is https://t.co/aBZlXdurQR ...personalized PD in a box. Ts get to choose. (model best practices) and there is a hyperdoc. All centered around T efficacy, speaking/listening, and formative assessment. https://t.co/KC0K45MUZD.EXCITED #TOSAchat
A2 We have been using @Flipgrid with our PD and the teachers love it as much as the Ss. We also use @googlehangouts_ and it has made a big impact on communication. #TOSAchat@TosaChat
A2: Ss in my classroom always had choice in how they demonstrated knowledge & understanding; I do the same for Ts in PD. We use tech tools in ways that Ss & Ts can share understanding in a variety of ways and ways that honor culture & personal preference. #tosachat#supermuch
A2 Part 1: Gave a presentation at the New Tech National Conference a few years ago entitled: I want a say in that! Student Voice and Choice. Presented with another teacher and student! For teachers, most important to hear them, meet their needs and provide options. #TOSAchat
Hi, Eric! I'm sure your Calculus students weren't just buttering you up. And if you can make Calculus the most fun part of someone's day, you are 100% #supermuch!! #tosachat
A2: Honestly we do not do enough of this but our PSUSD Odyssey gamified professional learning platform gives teachers autonomy in how they want to learn about tech integration. #tosachat
A2) š¤ Hmm? I work with teachers to find their strengths and what level of integration of voice and choice they are at in their non-tech lives. Where do they see the most likely place to add tech-based experiences that their students are ready for and go from there. #tosachat
A2 Part 2: Teachers at my school want to know you get it but really need and want to be heard. PD needs to give options and allow others to be leaders. Experiences for teachers and students just be interactive. #TOSAchat
That's awesome! Would love for you to share the resources to that presentation if you don't mind. I'm sure others would get a lot out of it! #tosachat#supermuch
I love our @AlludoPlay game for PD. It has created our own community of learners. We are growing so close together. I didnāt see that coming. #TOSAchat
This is great! Voice and choice is important in both places-- the digital world and the analog world. My Ss were choosing how they showed me what they knew and understood well before we had the tech tools so readily available! #supermuch#tosachat
A2: We are trying to use our learning target forms to help students improve their metacognition. They see their own gaps and, with our help, find ways to fill those deficiencies. Khan Academy has been a good resource #TOSAchat
A3: We've been doing #mysteryhangouts for a few years. This year a few classes will be participating in #gridpals on @flipgrid. I help Ts see that tools for global collaboration already exist & I'm there to help. They just need to be open to try. #tosachat#supermuch
A3 I am trying to encourage more twitter involvement among teachers. I think elementary are hesitant to to venture outside the walls of the school. I think #Flipgird provides entry level access globally #TOSAchat
Absolutely, and because you were comfortable the tech tools were #supermuch value to your already awesome classroom that I bet it wasnāt considered an add on, but rather an enhancement! #tosachat
A3: Yet another item that I could work on. I have a couple teachers that are going to start with #GridPals, they loved the idea, can't wait to see how they do. #TOSAchat
A3: This has been a difficult one. I am starting with a consortium of the willing and making suggestions like the Mathbos, and #TOSAchat but I am often met with indifference.
That is a good point. #Flipgrid is that gateway drug. I think I remember you mentioning that you have Twitter conversations during your PD to offer a safe starting point for teachers. #TOSAchat
Yep-- @flipgrid has been a big hit amongst the teachers I've introduced to it. We have almost 100% Twitter participation in our district but that only happened once our superintendent was not only supportive of it, but championed Twitter participation. It's #supermuch#tosachat
Keep making the suggestions, even when they look at you like you're crazy. It will pay off. Maybe not as soon as you'd like, but it will. #tosachat#supermuch
A4 We are modeling global connections. We are introducing @googlesites to our Ts for tech PD. I am going to look into @Flipgrid gridpals also. That will be new for me. #TOSAChat
We use Twitter to share our story. Ts use it to share what's happening in their classrooms and around their campuses. Coaches & Admin use it for the same reason. District admin share all the wonderful things happening district-wide. #tosachat
A3: This is a principle of New Tech methodology. I just started a parent support committee for my staff. Teachers list their projects and needs. Parents work to connect community locally and glabally through contacts and find panelists and willing participants. #TOSAchat
A4: PD that I create is always hands on, provides time to play, and includes helping Ts make sense of these principles (before #supermuch was even a thing!). I also try and make it fun so that Ts leave saying that they had a #supermuch experience! š #tosachat
A3) My husbandās class chatted w/ @repjohnlewis about March, Book 1. Encourage Tās to reach out to authors, publishrs, etc. Never know who will march out of their graphic novel and into the hearts and minds of students! Culturally relvnt curr = #supermuch empowerment #tosachat
A4 this year we are offer choice in the PD day. A buffet so to speak. Time to learn I dependent, small group, and whole class. Time for them to work on their own projects with our support. #TOSAChat
It has been invaluable. We started w/ getting everyone on, & then I hosted a few Twitter Challenges that gave ppl an idea of what to tweet that day. It included all of our district employees: grounds crew, food services, classified staff, everyone! It was really great. #tosachat
A4: I think teachers enjoy our PD because we model some of the things we ask them to do in their classroom. When we talk about station rotation or Hyperdocs you better believe there will be some moving and hyperdocing. #tosachat
A4: The district has really listened to teachers and now asks departments to have a voice and plan out two separate days for their staff, allowing for speakers, experiences, and more. During convocation the PD is relavent, themed, has food, and inspires questions. #TOSAchat
I ā¤ļø the idea of brining in the community, this is something Iām focusing more on this year. How to get students connected with their community to see that they can make a direct impact and even see themselves within the local economy! #tosachat
A4: I don't know that I delivered PD that was really #supermuch I have researched a lot about modes of PD. I feel that I am adapting my craft to meet the needs of my teachers, much like I did for my students. #alwaysevolving making strides to use the 3 principles #TOSAchat
I do believe it!! LOL. What better way than to model! It gives Ts a shared experience, as well, that they can reflect on and use to their advantage as they plan together. #tosachat#supermuch
A1: No matter what the teachers I work with do - Makerspaces, Maker Carts, ... - I always work through lifeskills - identifying the lifeskills with the activities, lessons, & projects. #tosachat
A2: A key thing is constant reflection. With any lesson, I model reflecting and prompt others to reflect on how they intentionally think of all stakeholders - particularly students. #tosachat
A4: Feedback, feedback feedback. We ask Ts to rate the Pd after each session, and we also use @BrightBytes yearly to get a larger overview and long term thinking from out audience. #Supermuch PD providers check in with their peeps. #Tosachat
Itās so important to help set the vision! Often PD is one of the only times we are afforded the chance to have teachers experience the pedagogy! The trick is getting to follow up, and dig into practice a student-centered application after #supermuch#tosachat
A5 I think getting Ts to realize that global collaboration is key is the hardest. Teaching is such a private act...shut the door and do your thing is very popular. Tech has made the world smaller, more attainable. #TOSAchat
A5: I don't find the principles to be challenging, but I do think it's a challenge to get Ts to have a common definition of the different terms used in each principle. That's why I wrote a blog post to explain them. https://t.co/I3t6LIfmgx#supermuch#tosachat
Agreed, and we can't just focus on the positive. You don't need to dwell on the "negative" or "weaknesses" but you do need to consider them and their causes, or you cannot fix them. #TOSAchat.

@peerlessgreen, @Jyoung1219, @TosaChat
A5 Making Global Connections seems to be a hurdle. I think Ts are very protective of their Ss and donāt want to āaccidentallyā cross a line. #TOSAchat@TosaChat
Thatās what Iāve been telling people. Itās not about forgetting the past, itās about remembering the past, learn from it, and move forward with what we learn. #TOSAchat
That's a great point. We have made the mistake of one and done PD. Teachers leave feeling overwhelmed and we rarely see if they implement anything they have learned. #tosachat
I hear that a lot. Global collaboration is really accessible now. However, it can be challenging for Ts to think about what types of projects or conversations would be beneficial for Ss and that would fit into their curriculum. #tosachat#supermuch
A5: I find #3 most challenging, because the Ts of Elementary Ss are often protective and that tendency leads them away from giving outside audiences. Additionally, Ts can have a "don't want you to see my messy paper" mentality that gets in the way of true collaboration #Tosachat
100%. Doesn't do any good to dwell on things but they definitely have to be considered. And even in the "perfect" lesson, there's always something that can be adjusted (IMO). #tosachat#supermuch
I wish more would truly embrace the design thinking process - at least two aspects of it. Empathy and iterations. Know that what we currently do is just an iteration and it will continue to get better. And always begin w/ empathy for issue & others #tosachat
A5: I find the second one the most difficult. I just have trouble allowing the needed time for the creativity that I would like to see on a regular basis. #TOSAchat
A6: When I get invited into a classroom and plan with the teacher, I would like to use the 3 #supermuch principles as part of our planning conversation. Learning goal first, then #supermuch#TOSAchat
A6: As a new admin I know my first step is to listen to the voices of the Ts & Ss. Thereās so much Iāve learned and need to continue to learn. Iāve been listening to whatās been done AND asking could there be a better way. #tosachat
A6: I plan to continue to promote the principles and encourage Ts in different areas, depending on where they want to grow this year and on where they are in their own journey. I'll also be sure to continue to create PD that is #supermuch! #tosachat
A6: The best I can do is continue to keep meeting them where they are at and encouraging them to continue to innovate and try new things. Modeling that failure may come, but we learn from it. Students and Teachers #TOSAchat
A6: Be honest about your practice and your struggles but highlight the benefits and why #Supermuch is worth it. Offer to be there for your Teachers if they do decide to take a risk. #tosachat
I think the biggest challenge will be the makerspace physical and digital. This inspires me but for those struggling with tech, this is a big step & they will need support, time and funds. #TOSAchat
A6 Be Accessible and check in often. Keep coming back to uplift and nourish them because that is how I get nourished. Iron sharpens iron for sure. #TOSAchat
