Hello #CollaborativePD! I'm Stephanie, a literacy teacher educator from NY. I'm tagging in @LitCoachConnect and @Mrsfishergfsd because they always inspire shared learning and @ILAToday for always leading the way and pushing our field forward.
Q1: How can educators bring experience and expertise to advisory boards/fellowships to enhance or develop current practices and thinking? #CollaborativePD
A1: We must honor our journeys, tell our stories and share them for connection, collaboration & learning with others. This collective thinking and expertise based on real stories of real teachers doing the work is what moves our practice forward. #CollaborativePD
Q1: How can educators bring experience and expertise to advisory boards/fellowships to enhance or develop current practices and thinking? #CollaborativePD
Q1: How can educators bring experience and expertise to advisory boards/fellowships to enhance or develop current practices and thinking? #CollaborativePD
A1. I believe that experience is an amazing factor that can persuade the development of current practices. However, I believe that the PASSION behind an educator's voice is what really assists in the persuasion. #CollaborativePD
A1 great questions since I have been on a few advisory boards and now on the @tinkercad board. Companies only view their products through their own lens where educators have to fit tools in where they can leading to new uses #collaborativePD
Q1: The best educators approach each day with curiosity, exploration and and learning objectives. These attributes are invaluable for private sector companies trying to understand education - and can be refined and amplified within fellowship programs. #CollaborativePD
A1. The power of collective action - talented individual educators banding together toward a shared mission - has been on our minds lately at @EmpaticoOrg and something I personally believe is essential to create change. #bettertogether#CollaborativePD
A1: The biggest benefit of practicing classroom educators on advisory boards is just that- tales from the front line, practical application of theory. #collaborativePD
Q1: How can educators bring experience and expertise to advisory boards/fellowships to enhance or develop current practices and thinking? #CollaborativePD
A1. Agree with Stella. I think that passion AND expertise can help shape teaching practices. But in thinking about this answer—I am thinking how sometimes it seems as if there aren’t many opportunities for fellowship and advisory boards. #CollaborativePD
A1: Their voices can serve as the impetus to approach students and learning differently. Their experiences can be better shared through fellowships which may provide them with a platform to showcase learning and synergize with other educators. #CollaborativePD
Glad to jump into #CollaborativePD. I am a 4th & 5th grade teacher along with some other titles.
A1: Edus can share their passion through stories of success and struggle. These "little" stories create a big picture and a lens for understanding.
A1: Educators can serve as counselors in the design, implementation and practices because they are deeply rooted in the front lines of the work. They want the best for their students and colleagues, so they aren’t afraid to try and try again! #collaborativePD
Q2: How might educators themselves benefit from participating in advisory boards/fellowships? What different types of learning can occur? #CollaborativePD
Q1: The best educators approach each day with curiosity, exploration and and learning objectives. These attributes are invaluable for private sector companies trying to understand education - and can be refined and amplified within fellowship programs. #CollaborativePD
A2: When you are a part of a group you can share your ideas but also grow from the experience.
Also, no one is going to hear your voice unless you promote it. #CollaborativePD
I'm Faith. Today was our first day of school for students, so I am wiped. Not sure if I will stay awake the whole time, but I'm going to try!!! #collaborativepd
Q2: How might educators themselves benefit from participating in advisory boards/fellowships? What different types of learning can occur? #CollaborativePD
A2. As @nathan_stevens whoiswiserthanallofus shared - we gain a different perspective IF we lean back and listen carefully when others share. #CollaborativePD
Q2: Advisory boards/ fellowships can be powerful for active, inquiry-based, continuous-improvement focused learning - the best kind for adults and professionals. #CollaborativePD
Q2: How might educators themselves benefit from participating in advisory boards/fellowships? What different types of learning can occur? #CollaborativePD
Q2: Fellowships offer the opportunity, structure, and tools to dive deeply into an area of focus. With the right cohort, existing beliefs can be challenged or confirmed while new competencies are developed. Ultimately, insights can be shared with your PLC/School #CollaborativePD
A2 depends on what you are looking for. For me, I want a better product, a t-shirt so I can be a billboard and a @JenWilliamsEdu autograph. A lot people want trips to conferences which I find meh. #collaborativePD
A2: I loved doing things like that because it opened my eyes to things happening outside of my classroom.Yes, I taught CS but seeing where the gaps were in the core subjects across the district helped me better tie those in to my class. Also, networking is great! #collaborativepd
A2 Edus can only refine their craft when they hear others sharing their perspectives and integration efforts. New opportunities to learn and to make lasting professional connections. #CollaborativePD
A2: Many times, shared perspectives can inspire new ways of learning or access to resources otherwise unrealized, both regionally and worldwide. Teachers can become connected to new learning venues and can develop shared student opportunities/experiences. #CollaborativePD
A1: Providing concrete examples. I feel ideas sit stronger when they are grounded in student voice, work products or videos of process. #CollaborativePD P.S. Hello from Sudbury, On.
A2: Educators need each other when learning and growing. And fellowships provide an opportunity for their voices to be heard in ways that can create real results. If you want different results in your classroom, you have to step in a new direction. #collaborativePD
A2: By participating in advisory boards/fellowships, an educator has an opportunity, to make a difference, to have their voice heard and possibly step out of their own comfort zone. #CollaborativePD
Q2: How might educators themselves benefit from participating in advisory boards/fellowships? What different types of learning can occur? #CollaborativePD
SO important to learn from others. That is where real learning and growth can occur. As the school leader, I have to do a better job setting my teachers up for this during the school day, month, year. #CollaborativePD
A2) When educators join fellowships or advisory boards, they are challenged to think outside their four walls and focus on building/district culture. #CollaborativePD
A1: T's benefit personally by exploring new tools/strategies/etc. but usually become much more adept at various tools because we explore them so much more deeply in order to "criticize"/evaluate them. #collaborativePD
A2 Been reading @EllinKeene’s Engaging Children where she speaks of perspective bending as a necessity for true engagement. By participating in advisory boards and fellowships we, as educators will have opportunities to gain others perspectives. #CollaborativePD
A2 I am not the biggest fan of ambassador programs since most have become sales gimmicks. When everyone can be an ambassador, none are really ambassadors. See the #sneeches#collaborativepd
A2. As @nathan_stevens whoiswiserthanallofus shared - we gain a different perspective IF we lean back and listen carefully when others share. #CollaborativePD
A2 they form connections, gain a larger platform for their voice to be heard, learn tips and tricks from others, gain collaborative partners in crime, widen their perspectives in life #CollaborativePD
A2: Advisory boards would be so insightful! The learning from people from different backgrounds and experiences would bring such a wide range of perspective! #CollaborativePD
Love seeing all these familiar AND new faces tonight at #CollaborativePD! And, so global!!! This is going to be a great year of chats!!! #Community#pals#goTEAM

Embracing a cohort that supports but also challenges beliefs/practices is powerful. Many of us fear collaboration because it might deliver less than stellar feedback but we need it, just as our students do. We are all growing. #collaborativePD
A2 I like to see betas of products. I like to see where the company’s vision is going. I am a good tester and can give user feedback which is super important in a board member #CollaborativePD

A2. I’ve been lucky to be asked to be a part of an advisory board in a group creating and recreating new schools in China. Incredible opportunity for perspective and cultural competency learning. #collaborativePD If you can, go global w your advisory work

A3 an advisory board is usually a smaller group that goes through a application process. You have to really want to improve what you are part of and have a vision of where you would like the tool to go #collaborativepd
How great would it be to set up self-initiated exchanges and visits! Could be possible, but need some funders, besides ourselves of course. I set up a visit for a teacher once & it was a great experience as the organizer & visiting teacher loved the experience #CollaborativePD
A3: Professional organizations like @ILAtoday & @NCTE offer inspiration, support, learning communities & opportunities for leadership. These experiences can also be cultivated at home: connect together & create grassroots think-tanks of inspired educators. #CollaborativePD
A2 I also see other tools and who companies can fit together with others on future projects. I use my contact to connect them together #collaborativePD
A2: As a newer teacher I appreciate when I see how more expert educators have professional dialogue about subjects. I notice research these educators reference and how they set and maintain goals. It helps to keep me accountable to the profession #CollaborativePD
I'm working hard to create a culture which encourages reading. This year we will be bringing a teacher suggested idea into our schedule- D.E.A.R- Drop Everything And Read. 10 minutes every day of free reading. #CollaborativePD
A3: And here's the other oppty from @EmpaticoOrg... We need all the visionary, passionated, talented educators we can get to meet our mission of spreading empathy and kindness for kids. #CollaborativePD
A3 Local sites of the National Writing Project! Our group of educators (@southernmainewp) is a rich community working to support each other, extend our professional knowledge, and deepen students' experiences with writing across all content areas. #CollaborativePD#NWP
I ADORE anything about reading! Give away books to students ALL day EVERY day. Add what you're reading to your signature line of emails. #CollaborativePD

Q4: How might educators evidence, share and propel new learning that has occurred during participation on advisory boards or in fellowships? #CollaborativePD
Same. I was confused as well. I've been on "advisory boards" at a district level before to deal with curriculum issues, so that's what I tweeted about. #collaborativePD
Q4: How might educators evidence, share and propel new learning that has occurred during participation on advisory boards or in fellowships? #CollaborativePD
A3: In Chicago, we call this a 16-inch softball down the middle of the plate. We are ecstatic to debut this inaugural fellowship with our friends at @EmpaticoOrg#CollaborativePD
A3 How many of us are active in our local parent teacher association? I’m wondering if I try enough to share ideas in that context? Not sure if this fits the question but I know when I connect w parents things move. #collaborativePD
Talk (or write) to anyone who will listen about the work and keep going when no one seems to be hearing. Somewhere along the way, you will feel sparks. #CollaborativePD
Q4: How might educators evidence, share and propel new learning that has occurred during participation on advisory boards or in fellowships? #CollaborativePD
A4: The fellowship should be structured so educators can share evidence of how they are incorporating new ideas into their teaching practice, and how it's impacting the kids. Attaching evidence to digital badges shared with a district/PLC is a good place to start #CollaborativePD
Ok. I'm going to #ClearTheAir. I had plans on doing work for this school year but I can't walk away from these chats! And it's not the first time. There I said it! #CollaborativePD
A4: Educators can come back to their buildings and share their new learning with intereted colleagues. They might form a study group to make the work ongoing. #CollaborativePD
A4: The "advisory boards" I have been a part of normally NDA me until they decide to release things; they are collecting ideas and opinions. Ambassador/certified trainer programs encourage you to share, #collaborativePD
A4. Twitter takes time to become comfortable with sharing ...
the spectrum in the graphic helps guide those who are in advisory board or fellowships make a difference by sharing far and wide.
