#TechTalkGA A1: My name is Curt Hitchens. I'm a Computer Science teacher in Walker County. I enjoy supporting Greater Works of Dalton. They serve the homeless in our community.
A1: Askia Jackson here! I'm an ITS in Bryan County. I do lots of community service at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Savannah. We pack bags for handout days, make hot lunches for some of the homeless camps and provide nonperishables during emergencies or disasters! #TECHtalkGA
A1 - I'm Mandy Buckenham. I'm an ITS with Floyd County Schools in Rome, GA. My family works a lot w/ a group called Heroes Great & Small, which provides therapy for kids who have gone through some tough stuff in their lives. It's an awesome organization! #TECHtalkGA
#TECHTalkGA A2: I implemented Potty PD in our building approximately a year ago. Each month I create a document that contains tips that teachers can review while they're in the bathroom.
A2: Our school used one day to allow teachers to present their strengths. We had sessions on small groups, center rotations, Google Classroom, iMovie, math strategies. You sign up for what you felt was a weakness. Buy-in was good and the turnout was great! #TECHtalkGA
Hello #TECHtalkGA! I’m an elem principal in Floyd County. We have a nonprofit organization in our town called Restoration Lindale. They sent a team of folks this morning to help us restore our Wetland Classroom. We love partnering w/ this organization & supporting our community.
A2: We used some of our Professional Development funds and gave teachers stipends to come after school to go through Google Certification modules #TECHtalkGA
I implemented the Tissue Tabloid (faculty bathrooms only). It changes every Monday with a single #edtech tip and a cartoon for the week. Very popular.

Cliff Kicklighter ITS at Bryan County MS/HS. I support the Lydia Project, based in Augusta GA. They provide financial and emotional support for people undergoing cancer treatments. #TechtalkGA
A2 - Our district had a gamified PD program called Level Up. Ts could choose the challenges they wanted to do, earn points and badges & more. The teachers who reached the highest level got to meet together for an Innovation Day. It was a great experience! #TechTalkGA
#TECHTalkGA A3: Our system hosted a district wide tech fair during one of our profession learning days in January. Teachers and admins around the district were given up to 45 minutes to present something to people with a common interest.
A2 Level Up has been a great tech PL for us in Floyd. There is a system leaderboard. Teachers complete tech related tasks to earn points. There is nothing better than some friendly competition and edtech learning at the same time! #TECHtalkGA
It worked well - teachers who caught on quickly could start finding ways to use it in their classes. Teachers who needed extra help had me or other teachers to chat with and get help from. #TECHtalkGA
A3. Every Tuesday (except tomorrow!) I have a #TicklingTech session where Ts can stop by any time & get 5 min. lesson. Most of sessions are requested directly by Ts. "I'd like to learn about..."
#TECHtalkGA
A3 - I really like how Edcamps are set up - You can go to what applies to your classroom. Ts get to choose what they want to listen to, & if it doesn't apply to them, they can move on! #TechTalkGA
I like this idea for a tech fair. Teachers presenting to teachers. Our students do this and present projects they've made in preparation for the Regional Tech Fair. But I love the idea of teachers doing this
#TECHtalkGA
A3: I've been doing alot lately with Digital Choice boards for PL. For example, during our Google Certification course we had a whole session just choosing whatever it is that you wanted to work on from the choice board. It was the most well received session #TECHtalkGA
A3 We do summer reading with a twitter challenge. This past summer, we did a book menu with about 6 titles. Teachers were able to choose one to read. I think they really enjoyed having a choice instead of one required reading. #TECHtalkGA
Yes! One school (PES) held a PD Palooza on a planning day where Ts who were knowledgeable in different areas led short 15 minute sessions. It was great to see even newer teachers jumping in with ideas! #TechTalkGA
#TECHtalkGA A1: Joining in late, I'm Angela, Dist ITS for MS/HS, plus French 1 T for Forsyth Virtual Academy.
As the mother of an aspiring Eagle Scout, I'd definitely recommend supporting your local Boy Scouts.
A4: For me, my district is offering lots of ways to get your PD. Whether it be the INstructional Technology Blog, Our ondemand techsite, our support of @edcampGA. I love the book choice idea and also I really want to do TechMex Tuesday #TECHtalkGA
#TECHTalkGA A4: I'm hoping to become a Google Certified Trainer in 2019. Working to achieve this status will enable me to meet the needs of teachers when it comes to using the G-Suite apps that would be most beneficial in their classrooms.
A4 I want to incorporate badging into our school PL, possibly for our summer challenge instead of the bingo card. I’m still mulling this over. #TECHtalkGA
A4 - I really want to find a way to involve our classified employees in PD. So many have expressed interest, but they aren't sure where to start since they don't have a classroom of kiddos to work with, or a planning period! Any ideas? #techtalkga
#TECHtalkGA A2: I've really enjoyed the recent #forsythpln DCD events where Ts get to choose what sessions they attend or schools that allow me to offer choice!
