Initially it was me reaching out promoting our public library makerspace (at @FreemanLib) within the local ISD to let them know their students had us as a new resource. The partnerships grew from there - classroom/district/region trainings, etc.

A2: We partnered with the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Libraries--took Art History students to D.C. to work in those libraries. They are still helping us remotely, too. #txlchat#poweredlibraries
A2: Museums are a great partner to have to meet the needs of our patrons. Used resources from Holocaust museum. Also presidential libraries are great resources/partners. #poweredlibraries#txlchat
Public and academic Federal & State Depository libraries often engage in collaborative collections development, including joint digitization of archival resources relevant to their communities #txlchat
Q2: I partnered with @ViperNationEF 2 help turn the library into a learning commons. Very fortunate 4 the support. The new space is amazing and impacts so many Ss daily. #txlchat

A2: @alkeklibrary, San Marcos Public Library, @txst, @aplusfcu have all been supportive of our library programs. I work with all 4 regularly for various projects - guest readers, field trips, performances, financial literacy. #txlchat#poweredlibraries

When I worked in public we partnered with anybody and everybody we could from farmers markets to businesses. Here at LCU some of our fantastic libs partner with local HS's to help teach research methods and standards

A1: It’s fun to partner with academic and public libraries. I have partnered on a Bluebonnet Camp and Teen Bookfest by the Bay with public libraries and have an upcoming Dr. Seuss Celebration March 2 with TAMU-CC Bell Library #txlchat
A3 I talk to other librarians in my district. The librarian at @milbylibrary has great ideas for reader engagement. I also follow a lot of public and university libraries, other high school librarians for inspiration and ideas, as well as tech people on social media. #txlchat

If anyone tries to tell you that you need to choose between books and a MakerSpace do NOT believe them. Reading breathes new life into “making,” and science/engineering must never be advanced at the expense of reading. We must create the space for both.

A2: Ive partnered with our public library during September’s Library Card Sigh Up month. They set up a booth at our Open House and signed up parents and students for a library card. #txlchat
