Hey from Virginia!
One of my students made my day today by being extremely caring to another classmate that they normally have a difficult time with. #admin2b
A1: My fifth grade teacher inspired me to want to go into the field of education. She had such a kind spirit and her passion for her students was apparent daily. #admin2b
A1. @celtictito was my first mentor in masters and doctoral work - that made me look through the social justice lens. Had a huge impact on my work even today. #admin2b
A1: it is important to gather input from those you trust when making big decisions. As a former coach I wanted assistants who would tell me what they thought, not what I wanted to hear. There is power in collaboration. #admin2b
yes if your mentors aren't honest - then they are not mentors. #admin2b A2. Does my decision align with my vision/core values. Does it help move things forward. Is it student centered. #admin2b
A3. I learned something from my other mentor(@jlvw76 ). Habit Triggers- every doorway you walk through can trigger a mantra that helps you stay present & your best self. Everyone deserves your best self - even you! You can't let challenges/circumstances dictate your tone #admin2b
A3: Always remember that your staff are your staff and that most of the challenges do not necessarily involve them directly. Would you want them to treat their students negatively or give them a negative tone for something the student had no control over? #admin2b
Talk it out!! Understand where the other person is coming from and come to a resolution..... people need time to cool off, but too much time can lead to built up tension #admin2b
A4 I feel like personality makes a huge impact when it comes to conflict. The more time we take to understand each other the better situations become. #admin2b
A4:Talk it out!! Understand where the other person is coming from and come to a resolution..... people need time to cool off, but too much time can lead to built up tension #admin2b
A4: I try to ensure both sides are heard. But I live by the premise that sometimes we have to agree to disagree. And that is okay. We just need to respect others viewpoints even if we don't agree. #admin2b
A4: In conflicts, I seek to understand and not to be right. When helping others resolve conflicts, I find that 10% is difference of opinion, and 90% the tone/language used to deliver the message that caused the conflict. #admin2b
