A1: When I took my Modern US History students on a ‘march through Vietnam’. Sociology class next door played the part of Vietcong and S. Vietnamese citizens. Powerful lesson - best discussion we had all semester. #leadlap

A1 Our opening days of PD always have great enthusiasm and community impact. This year we did Bus Tours with scavenger hunt built in. Teachers got to see the community and build rapport with families and students. #LeadLAP

A2: I was inspired by @RickJetter & @RebeccaCoda & their book "Escaping the School Leader's Dunk Tank". Having survived the dunk tank, it was inspiring to hear their stories. I appreciate their passion for helping others know they are not alone. #LeadLAP

A4: don't try to give more than you have. We must fuel ourselves if we want to give. We must empower ourselves if we want to empower. We must inspire ourselves to #inspire others. #LeadLAP
A4 For me, growing up being a 2 sport athlete through high school & college, I need to set aside time to be active and stay fit. Usually it's running (lots of running) but swimming laps, biking and any sort of endurance training really helps keep me grounded & focused #leadlap
A4: this year I feel I have really been able to reenergize my batteries! I changed my day and I actually take a lunch break where I eat my meal and read a chapter out of a book! It may take 10 minutes or 30 minutes depending on the chapter but that calming time works!! #LeadLAP

A4- I’m a fixer by nature. Always have been. If I’m not careful I will carry the burden for everyone else’s problems as my own until it is fixed. I have come to realize I am going to burn myself out doing that. I have to learn to but myslef a priority once in a while #leadlap

A5 I shared my enthusiasm with my Ss by sitting in an actual Dunk Tank on a 40 degree night this past fall at a football game! The Ss kindly filled it with ice water but we raised money for a good cause! #leadlap

A5: I love to smile, laugh & have fun w our staff & Ss. Last yr, prompted by a S noticing my love for corny jokes, we started Funny February. Ss put their jokes in a box, me & some Ss picked our fav each day & that S helped me read the joke on the PM announcements. #LeadLAP

A5: I locked my students out of my classroom for 2 days, had class in different spots, and sent Reminds home to have them wear either Greaser or Soc style clothes to school! It creates a ton of curiosity as excitement with students and their families! #LeadLAP

A6 We always had a teacher that would count down the school days in the lounge. I hijacked the whiteboard on the front of the refrigerator, and made it a count up board. Every morning, I add a day and write a positive/challenging thought on the board. #leadlap

A7: JOY as a choice has continued to be transformational for me. Even after Hurricane Harvey decimated our town, we could still mine blessings in that burden when we #choosejoy as a lens, to see the good and give it forward! #leadlap

A7: I don’t necessarily recommend it to everyone, but I took a chance and changed schools and school districts for the chance to finally be a HS principal. I took a risk, and followed a dream. Why not you? #LeadLAP
A7 This year has made me realize that sometimes to be a better me, I needed to let somethings and people go. Having the wrong people around creates negativity and bitterness. Surround yourself with great people who want great things. #LeadLAP

A6: We had some awesome energy around 12 different T-led #TMGenius summer book studies. It has inspired book studies we are kicking off in January w our families. Super pumped about the opportunities for parent leadership & authentic family engagement. #LeadLAP

A7: I strive to find inspiration to drive my passion for teaching. I’ve turned to @TDJakesShow for inspiration. He has a TERRIFIC piece on leadership. I urge any type of leader to listen! Will help build your “steps” of 2018! #LEADlap

I want to spark the curiosity of my students as questioners and thinkers not just takers. I want to help them see that their opinions are not just important but essential to building the classroom, school and community that we need. #LeadLAP
