A1 #4thchat This year's senior class was born in 2000. Somehow that happened. Remembering when I joined #4thchat 2? 3? years? Life seems to be going quickly.
A2: Paula was one of the first person I connected with on Twitter and she suggested checking out #4thchat. I immediately met Nancy, and the rest, as they say, “is history.” My first tweet was then I was joining Twitter to start a PLN!
I’m not sure if I had a reason other than I taught fourth grade. 🤷🏼♂️ I was certainly pleased, I love that we can really chat and get into the things we teach since we have them in common. #4thchat
A2: I think I was tweeting randomly & @jmplus2 asked if I wanted to co-moderate! I was SOOO nervous and was afraid to make the commitment! So glad I did - it's been my GoTo Community of learners! I learn something every week! #4thchat
Everyone would say - "Where'd you find that idea/resource" - and of course the answer was "My #4thchat#PLN on Twitter!" which was followed up by "What's that?" lol
A3: I don’t miss #4thchat unless I have family events. My family knows I love it, though and they try to help me so I don’t miss it! It inspires and energizes me every week! I love connecting with these amazing, forward thinking, sharing folks!
A3 Not as much as I would like. Family obligations, school work, my Philly sports teams, get in the way at times, but like I said, still check each week to see what was discussed and to get new ideas.. #4thchat
#4thchat This is how I explain to newcomers to PLN tools like Twitter. You don't search Twitter--you connect to people and their ideas. It's a game changer once you start.
Sorry I can’t stay for the whole chat, but I will be reading the archive. Love to you all, awesome #4thchat PLN.-esp Paula and Nancy, who invited me into this amazing world of connecting, growing, sharing, and supporting. Don’t know what I'd be like without you. Virtual hugs.
A4: I love checking out #edtechchat, #INeLearnchat, and the #tlap chats! I love reading great tweets and exploring the hashtags included in them. I guess I am a “Twitter Wanderer” at times! #4thchat
We have a state chat, #utedchat, that I hit every week. I love connecting with all of my local teachers, then come here to #4thchat to get my content and broaden my scope nationally.

A4: I've participated in #tlap, #spedchat, #edchat, #ntchat - I like them because there are so many resources I can use (and share) trying to grow my PLN. #4thchat
A5 I believe it is true that I first learned about @ProjectsByJen through #4thchat. Weren't you a pretty early participant @plnaugle for the O.R.E.O. Project and others? #4thchat
I hear ya @becky7274 I was a strong blogger &was on twitter alot-I've stepped back some-mostly check Twitter 1x day (except mondays). Blogging to 1x/month & not really on FB - balance is a must! #4thchat Good for your for realizing. We are happy to have you whenever you can join.
#4thchat Great new video from @joboaler Her youcubed math site is amazing too.

I got asked to do a two week substitution in 4th grade. What GREAT experience before student teaching. Any advice, veteran teachers? #nced#ncedchat#4thchat
Yes, I began doing @ProjectsByJen in 2004 (she started in 1999) and talked about them everywhere I could. Love @jenwagner for the opportunity to collaborate with others. #4thchat

A5: A couple of my favorites were teaching other #4thchat tweeps how to use Edmodo through a class I ran on @edmodo, introducing many others to #mysterylocation calls, and doing competitive Cahoots. #4thchat
It is an online Certificate of Advance Graduate Study in Technology Integration. I'm in the last of four accelerated courses. Taking a Coaching course through a local organization, Teachers21. #4thchat
#4thchat I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the tech options in my district. They all seem amazing but where do I start??? What do your 4th graders like to use?
I attend many of @Seesaw webinars, but try to register for all of them so they send me the recording and slide deck to go through if I was unable to attend in person. #4thchat

A6 yes! One of the main reasons I started #4thchat. My favorite was writing hero and villain stories with another class across the country using. Storyjumper.
A6: I have collaborated with so many of you over the years. I know I can send out a tweet to #4thchat when I want to collaborate and will get responses.
#4thchat Technology should become invisible, if a tech tool helps engage Ss and they learn and learn better use it. No tech tool is worth teaching by itself.
#4thchat Schoology sounds good for our secondary folks here who have that. More options than Google Classroom which we use for free in elementary. It is nice you have that option.
It is the ease of use that draws most in when considering @Seesaw. Students can take a picture of anything they are reading, writing, making etc. and then annotate over it, add a caption, and even a voice recording of their learning and add it to their journal. #4thchat

Sorry I can’t stay for the whole chat, but I will be reading the archive. Love to all, fab #4thchat PLN.-esp Paula + Nancy, who invited me into this amazing world of connecting, growing, sharing, and supporting. I honestly don’t know what I'd be like without you. Virtual hugs.
Congrats Mallory! I'd say - be consistent! Keep to established routines & get to know the kids. Making strong connections shows students you care! #4thchat

#4thchat Read a page to show fluency. Share a reading power used and the text that goes with it. Post a photo of a science experiment and explain what happened. Try Seesaw activities. Post a math question like #gmttc4. Have Ss share something they wrote. Share questions.
A7 Always have such interesting topics here. Discussions on homework and math are always good. I like the "what is your ____ bag" discussions too. Tech bag, book bag, etc. #4thchat
A7: Digital citizenship a few weeks back was a good one. Would love to hear how the new federal education law, ESSA, is or isn’t impacting your classroom. #4thchat
A7: I feel so vested in every week’s topic that it is hard to pick the best ones. Ones were I learn a new tool, or best practice always rank up high. #4thchat
Check out the chapter on 9 and 10 year olds in this book: https://t.co/arBMJhWiQJ Ask around someone may have before you buy. 4th edition means some one has it. #4thchat
Q8: With the strain on everyone’s time, we are wondering if maybe we need to change up #4thchat. Would a bimonthly chat be better than a weekly one? Please share your thoughts.
A6: Took @wkrakower on a "virtual field trip" to Plimoth Plantation. And he took my class to Ellis Island. I witnessed the power of the connections as they went beyond me, but to my students! #4thchat
Not a fan of book reports unless there is choice involved so that students can choose a book they want to read and share it is a way that they want to. #4thchat
A8: I try to get to #4thchat whenever I can, and while I think weekly ones would increase my chances of actually making it, I think it should really be up to the moderators' schedules - whatever you and your families can handle.
#4thchat A8 While some weeks won't work for some, no weeks will line up like that for all. A weekly chat is largely like how Twitter works. It's there if you have time. If not there is always next time. Again: https://t.co/04At8asrLd
If it’s not weekly it’s way easier for me to forget and get out of the habit. I totally get the time thing though and I know how much work it is. #4thchat
You remember our Olympics trivia game we were going to play on Google Hangout against each other, moderated by @cybraryman1 when you, @wkrakower, and @JennRegruth were snowed out? #4thchat

It was so much fun! And funny too. The pilgrims were looking at me as I was holding up my phone - & Billy's class asking questions...lol #4thchat#priceless
