A1: I tell everyone it is my favorite day of learning. And I succeeded in getting others to join me this time.
absolutely! How much passion do we miss when we focus on getting through curriculum rather than focus on Ss passion?!
A1 a great meeting of the minds. Ppl want to change, share, and do more in dif ways. It's a great ind. PD source. PPl tend to be +
Wow! looks like i need to investigate the chat
One of the things I appreciate is that it seems everyone wants to be solution minded...proactive.
Ss passion was the huge take away words I had from yesterday!
SUCH a great place for Ss and Ts to come together! Loved the atmosphere! https://t.co/5ncYrxKP6f
There was a whole lot of passion yesterday! Loved being in their collaborative learning space! https://t.co/9bOV1EjvQD

Have to admit , part of why I go is to meet awesome Twitter peeps F2F https://t.co/tSAyskFn8W
A1 a great meeting of the minds. Ppl want to change, share, and do more in dif ways. It's a great ind. PD source. PPl tend to be +
We are off to a great start! Q2 is coming right up.
Absolutely agree with that!
A1: Why? Heck, why not? Every Edcamp I've attended has been great and was no exception! :)
Q2: What are the positives and/or challenges of professional learning opportunities that are structured like ?
You, too, sir! I was excited to have the chance to chat with you in the last session
Absolutely love connecting with educators I don't get to on a regular basis, as well as meeting new gems! https://t.co/d4cUcIWZyh
BOOM!!!! https://t.co/v5wzjwLURT
A1: Why? Heck, why not? Every Edcamp I've attended has been great and was no exception! :)
It was great to see you in Epworth, Darin. Thank you for being there. https://t.co/xiT6awm36e
A1: Why? Heck, why not? Every Edcamp I've attended has been great and was no exception! :)
agreed. When stuck in factory model, passion, interest, are negated. We have to work to change that.
Passion/motivation focus certainly came out in the last session I attended! Great stuff!
I was able to meet a few Twitter peeps F2F also. This was definitely one of the highlights from my day. https://t.co/g5S6ppW7nD
Have to admit , part of why I go is to meet awesome Twitter peeps F2F https://t.co/tSAyskFn8W
A1 a great meeting of the minds. Ppl want to change, share, and do more in dif ways. It's a great ind. PD source. PPl tend to be +
A1. Joining a little late this eve. Wanted to attend and meet others with the same mindset as myself. Great things in Epworth
Its refreshing to be surrounded by people focusing on how to improve, rather than what is holding us back https://t.co/jzLZHVnTk2
One of the things I appreciate is that it seems everyone wants to be solution minded...proactive.
Rocks and Sucks... one of my favorites.
A2: curriculum & grades are a form of controlling students, over-structured PD is tool to control teachers.
You won’t regret finding an !
A2: A positive challenge is getting people out of their comfort zone to participate and facilitate. When they do... WOW!
A2 Don't know what is so I can not answer
A2 Biggest challenge is that there isn't enough time!
A2: Challenge, being brave enough to suggest a topic, if what you want to learn about isn't reaching the schedule board.
A2: models are positive because you decide your learning and what you need as a learner.
A2: pro- edcamp gives everyone a voice and a choice.
A2: Positives to are allowing Ts to meet other Ts to share ideas, reenergize and expand PLNs
A1: Meeting PLN members, hanging w/other district teachers, learning more, it's all worth it!
Thank you for being there, Rachel. Awesome conversations in Epworth yesterday! https://t.co/sROBHXu1Zv
A1. Joining a little late this eve. Wanted to attend and meet others with the same mindset as myself. Great things in Epworth
A2: Since I am new to teaching profession, I don't really know a lot about that we have. Can anyone shed some light?
A2 :giving opportunities for all to share and not get so passionate about what you are doing as to take over the conversation
https://t.co/MtkKTOId22
Its refreshing to be surrounded by people focusing on how to improve, rather than what is holding us back https://t.co/jzLZHVnTk2
One of the things I appreciate is that it seems everyone wants to be solution minded...proactive.
A2 the positive would be having people share their passions and getting you charged to make a difference
A2: There is a way to aim in the same direction yet give tchrs the autonomy to pursue their passion & build their own PD
I would love this format on a Cedar Rapids PD time!
I'm in the same boat. https://t.co/y5CYzzrH2U
A2: Since I am new to teaching profession, I don't really know a lot about that we have. Can anyone shed some light?
A2: The positives w/Edcamp style of PL is you get out what you put in…it is a personalized as you make it.
I jumped out of that comfort zone yesterday & like you said WOW it was so amazing to facilitate & learn from others!
A2: Positives--Educators want to be there, we had options, we had a voice, choices!
A2: Plus is personalized PD - propose topic of interest & discuss with others. If it's not what you want, go to other session
A2:Choose with your feet-if something isn’t working - choose diff session / help redirect it another way!
https://t.co/PKSCQc3lkL
Q2: What are the positives and/or challenges of professional learning opportunities that are structured like ?
A2: A challenge is not knowing popularity for some sessions but SE did a great job moving us to spaces that fit us!
one of my favorites for micro - convos on many important topics! Leveling, for example. Wow, great shares!
A2: Providing voice leads to engagement, learning and purpose. A great opportunity for all.
Definitely a challenge! So hard to rein it in sometimes! https://t.co/BVKPk3UpVN
A2 :giving opportunities for all to share and not get so passionate about what you are doing as to take over the conversation
A2 - Positive would be deciding your learning and where you will take it from the info you gained at
A2: positive - choice, the ability to choose and attend sessions that are relevant to my needs and knowing I am not alone
A2. +s Seeing all the people with so many great ideas, and then reading the ideas from the other areas. So many great ideas.
A2: I can see where some Ts might still sink to back row. When we talk big ideas, 2nd order change, it’s easy to call it dreaming.
A2: Choice, plain and simple. I wanted to learn about how other districts deliver their PD. I got to do that! :)
I felt the positive charge yesterday!
A2: One challenge was wanting to dig really deep into some topics only to realize others weren't in the same place.
A2 the challenge is to have people pose ?/session ideas, but only takes a few to get going & there are always a few loud ones!
Rocks vs. Sucks was a unique session, but I LOVED the emphasis on communicating well. Great minds!
I would love to see this model in my classroom. I think I would need to change the word "sucks" however. :)
A2: A common challenge is all of us active on Twitter are a cult of the same beleifs...what do others feel?
A2. Challenges: too many options for us. I could have sat in so many other sessions, but another plus is the choices.
What's that saying? Plan or be planned for. EdCamp is filled with people who are actively creating the future.
A2:Focus on improvement is positive. Check out reflective post. Couldn't agree w/ her more. https://t.co/tzntF4rLaI
A2 The positive - all the voices in the room. The challenge - making sure all voices are heard.
You as well! It's always great meeting people in person from this community.
It’s hard sometimes — I get so excited! https://t.co/6WLWMhJHXO
A2 :giving opportunities for all to share and not get so passionate about what you are doing as to take over the conversation
what did you facilitate about?
Challenge: Harnessing it in such a way that coherent action and results follow
A2 - Positive is networking with other educators. Find out common challenges, solutions, etc.
A2: Easy to engage and feel empowered to share. Tap in to that excitement & take it back to classroom. How often does PD do that?
Actually part of the session I facilitated at . How do we keep challenging our ideas? https://t.co/J7ndWA1HTf
A2: A common challenge is all of us active on Twitter are a cult of the same beleifs...what do others feel?
are incredible, but how do we keep the buzz after edcamp in our Schools where maybe that buzz is not happening?
A2: Another positive, got to witness staff getting out of their comfort zone and participating when they tend to sit back
A2: collaboration, alike thinking, different thinking, working towards same goal = positive growth in education change
A2: Getting people 2attend that NEED 2drink from the cup is a challenge. Sharing w/ others is essential!
Technology in Elementary Classrooms which was very exciting to get some new fresh ideas and give some in return!
Q3 is coming right up. Great thoughts, all!
We enjoyed learning from you about Student Led Classrooms!
A2 there r quiet & loud in r schools as well-r we attending 2 every voice https://t.co/Nb85sJYxP8
A2 the challenge is to have people pose ?/session ideas, but only takes a few to get going & there are always a few loud ones!
Excellent question! I don't know how some of my peers would buy into my experience just by my telling them.
Q3: What was your biggest take-away about teaching and learning from ?
Facilitated session on to find support & ppl to challenge thinking. 2nd on development
hmmm any that would interest another Kinderland teacher?!?!?
A2 + are you choose the day you want to have driven by choice. - sessions cannot be replicated. Miss some good ones.
I loved that my niece, , a first year teacher attended in CR. Just wish we could have attended in same location.
I called it body voting... let me find my post... it worked well.
A2: the status quo staff who are filled w/fear often would take this to the negative and the "yeah but" stuff.
Use your voice to make a choice or follow others! Sounds like to me!
I loved rocks or sucks for that. It was healthy discourse- and challenged my thinking!
Thanks! I really appreciate that. It's sometimes hard to know how successful a session was.
A2: Edcamp challenge is turning rich convos into action. What are the next steps? Now what?
Been part of 2 doctoral studies on the same topic...many think we are fraternity/sarority https://t.co/lnZjj4r0xH
Actually part of the session I facilitated at . How do we keep challenging our ideas? https://t.co/J7ndWA1HTf
A2: A common challenge is all of us active on Twitter are a cult of the same beleifs...what do others feel?
That was also my fav session from the day. Great to see what others are wondering and to hear what others are doing.
Always glad to support friends! It was an awesome day and I'm glad I could make it! :)
A3 Loved the insight of the Teacher Leadership convo at Central. WOW!
A3: wish I could have spent more time in rocks/sucks.

That has always been one of my favs. Too bad it wasn't at NE. Next year for sure!
A3 - and talking about student's passions with
A3. One take away is that when I get my own classroom, I want to try some blended learning. Slo work on student centered rooms.
A3: We are ready to change business as usual! As admin, we’ve got to get comfortable saying “Yes” & helping staff to fail forward.
A3 New teacher here, can someone shed some light on what exaclty is? because I have no clue what it is
A3: we need makerspace at our school. Thanks for sharing and others
It was great to see so many CR educators there - able to grow my in-district network of action takers! :-)
A3: Big take-away for me is that it will always be about the relationships and connections that we make w/ others.
Welcome Heather...glad you can join!
RIGHT ON! https://t.co/qJ06zFg46E
What's that saying? Plan or be planned for. EdCamp is filled with people who are actively creating the future.
A3: Professional networks, discussion on twitter and learning about Voxer.
A2 Positive: heard many innovative ideas. Challenge: also heard frustration to follow through @ school due to culture, admin, etc
Not to worry you fans, but Iowa only is up four on the Goofers with 3 minutes left!
Yes, this has been a common excuse for those sitting back. I asked others to find those moments & ppl.
I want a makerspace too!!
A3: Instead of thinking outside the box, start doing outside...and giving Ts permission to try and succeed/fail and try again
A3: Relationships matter. Create meaningful learning opportunites through student passions.
A3: Student voice was a theme throughout at Central in Ames thanks to student participants. Ss imp in educ
So true!! https://t.co/M2ItkUiiew
A2: Getting people 2attend that NEED 2drink from the cup is a challenge. Sharing w/ others is essential!
A3: Teachers have more resources outside of school and the power to make those connections with students.
The big one I shared that others didn't know about was and the new one I am investigating is
A3: Inspiring Motivation w/ Sarah Jones from Marion INSPIRED me to reflect on the facets of motivation. Affirmed relationships

A3: Big take-away for me is that it will always be about the relationships and connections that we make w/ others.
Do you have pics of your makerspace? That was a huge takeaway of and I's from yesterday.
A3 Got many of the session notes -will post to Google soon. Sorry-did taxes today instead.:-(
Big Lesson -Some things may seem old hat to connected Ts, but all Ts are at different levels. Keep sharing https://t.co/zbS3AxnAdN
The big one I shared that others didn't know about was and the new one I am investigating is
A3 Keep taking risks and trying new things with your sts. Keeps your teaching fresh and sts. are excited to learn and are engaged
A3: It also validated that I am on a good path for doing what is right for kids. Great to meet with like-minded educators.
A3: Absolutely amazing work of leadership, staff, & students was my biggest take-away. I want that for my child & Ss!
Don’t mess around with just THINKING… let’s start DOING! LOVE THIS, Nicole! https://t.co/RqoRt0PlZ5

A3 biggest takeaway is that others are chasing their passions and seeing Ss flourish, keeps me moving forward and connecting
True that W/o r/ships we got nothing https://t.co/3ZL82TcHGF
Relationships ALWAYS come first! https://t.co/NHHhuuXxRK
A3: Big take-away for me is that it will always be about the relationships and connections that we make w/ others.

A3: Relationships, relationships, relationships! Getting to know all involved: Ss, Ps, community, AND Ts in your district!
Q4: What is one thing you want to try from and who will help hold you accountable?
If you replicated your staff meetings in every classroom in your school, would leaning go up or down?
Q4. I wonder what a rocks/sucks would look like if you did with kids. Would enough staff take it in the spirit it is intended?
Yes! Days like yesterday give me courage, strength, and motivation to keep pushing to bust the system. https://t.co/wWn6EQ0Brt
A3: The best days are ahead of us. Harness the excitement & willingness to be innovative and create change where you can.
A4: I want to read Deci & Ryan texts on motivation and build on the quadrants discussed. https://t.co/l7t9wtMkRZ
Q4: What is one thing you want to try from and who will help hold you accountable?

And be honest?
https://t.co/3INOwpDh6j
Q4. I wonder what a rocks/sucks would look like if you did with kids. Would enough staff take it in the spirit it is intended?

Q4. I wonder what a rocks/sucks would look like if you did with kids. Would enough staff take it in the spirit it is intended?
