A1: Hey y'all! My name is Nadia, I work in @CobbSchools as the Digital Leaning Coordinator.
I'd love to share the brightness of @moxiskateshop in Long Beach, CA. I may or may not have fallen down their @YouTube rabbit hole.
#TECHtalkGA
A1 (b): I forgot to add that I"m super excited as the Ss from the @GASouthernMAT class are starting to take and pass their #GoogleCE level 1 exams. Woohoo! Training paid off! #TECHtalkGA
A1 #TECHtalkGA:
Cat Flippen, Personalized Learning & Innovation from #OneJacksonGA. My friends and family, my daughters and my loved ones all gave me ample brightness and happiness today.
A1 Hi! I'm Mandy Buckenham, 3rd grade teacher at PES and soon to be ITS with #fcsdot! I am super excited to get started with an awesome crew of folks next week! #TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA A2:
I took the leap & took on my current role, leaving a school role, which also meant leaving my friends, and my son, but was a challenge I welcomed!
A1: Lisa Wilbanks, Media Specialist from Jackson County Schools #OneJacksonGA.
My bright thoughts are about the summer...spending time with family/friends and growing professionally at #picademy#TECHtalkGA
A1: Evonne here - Middle School Tech teacher. Catoosa Co Public Schools - Happy note - I made it through Monday and first day of GA Milestones. #TechTalkGA
A2: I have welcomed the world of tech conferences and this awesome Twitterverse #PLN that has truly caused me to step out on a bigger platform to share and learn!! #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
Ben, AP @SouthForsythMS in Forsyth County! When I got home my little girl was using her amazing creativity with Legos and my little boy put on an amazing magic show! #TECHtalkGA
A2
Change. It happens.
When @itsleegreen returned to the classroom, we lost a powerhouse. We're also looking for a new Superintendent.
Regardless, this is why it's so important to stay steady and be constant in your work and purpose.
#TECHtalkGA
A2: I have Willingly Welcomed the opportunities to help with higher ed and our local RESA this year. I have learned so much. Thankful to have this year to grow in my professional career. #TECHtalkGA
A2 #TECHtalkGA:
I trust the timing of my life in all things.
in the past year, I listened to friends like @siegmundIT + soon-to-be friends like @aimvick and took the leap into @JCSchoolSystem to continue to make an impact on as many students as possible. It was a big change!
A2: The professional change I have willingly welcomed has been stepping out of the classroom and taking on the role of ITC. It has been a learning curve, but I’m enjoying the journey and the community of ppl I have met along the way! #TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA Q3: What changes have occurred professionally that you REGRET? How would you do it differently, if you had the opportunity?
OR, are there changes that you regret NOT happening?
A2 - This year I have definitely put my fears aside and tried new ideas in my classroom and explored new opportunities. It's a little scary, but still an awesome feeling! #TECHtalkGA
A2: I have done a lot more with Twitter this year...even though it's still not nearly enough! This tool has completely changed how I interact at conferences! #TECHtalkGA
A2: Bridget here, stopping by - it’s been a while! The challenge that I took on this year was to shift responsibility and choices over to my kids. It’s been tough at times, but we’ve all enjoyed it - and I love seeing the kids embrace our room as theirs! #TECHTalkGA
There is a lot that instructional technologists do that will never see the light of day. You're doing a great job building a program in Elbert County.
#TECHtalkGA
A2: I have welcomed Twitter and the #PLN I have become a part of into my life and couldn’t be happier!! Love having so many people who are within a tweet to ask questions of and who can help with anything
#TECHtalkGA
A3: One regret I have in my first year as ITC has been falling into the trap of doing more tech support than instructional coaching at times. Definitely something I want to manage better next year. I love being out in the classroom with Ts & Ss. #TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA
A2: This year I have read a lot of books and participated in a lot of professional learning opportunities. Very thankful to have been able to learn from some awesome people.
#TECHtalkGA A3:
Leaving my "school" family has meant that I have sadly lost some friendships that I thought would stand that test of time. While I don't regret my move, I do deeply regret losing their friendship, companionship & support.
#TECHtalkGA Q3: What changes have occurred professionally that you REGRET? How would you do it differently, if you had the opportunity?
OR, are there changes that you regret NOT happening?
A3: Not sure that it's a total Regret, but major changes happened for me this year. I decided to take a year off. Yes, I reset & refocused, but at times it was a struggle financially. However, I wouldn't have walked through these open doors this yr if I was working. #TECHtalkGA
A3 #TECHtalkGA
There are always ups and downs, wins and losses, successes and mistakes both professionally and personally. That's called life.
I don't believe in looking back outside of reflection. What is most important is that you take your past as an opportunity to GROW.
A3: Maybe its hitting that 40 mark but I really find myself reflecting more and not regretting more. I do regret I did not DVR the GDay game though. We only made it a half. #TECHtalkGA '
A3: I regret not following through on ideas I started earlier this year. It’s the time of the school year where I reflect and try to come up with what I’d like the class to look like. #TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA Q3: What changes have occurred professionally that you REGRET? How would you do it differently, if you had the opportunity?
OR, are there changes that you regret NOT happening?
Yes, I participated in a Business Practices Improvement program where I actively ignored pedagogy & design in order to focus on policies & procedure #TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA A3: No regrets, just wish I could pull in more local people into my PLN to help build instructional technology from the educators perspective rather than the tech support perspective.
A3
Not sure that I have any regrets. I've learned a lot over the years and constantly reflect on implementations, programs, and building relationships. I'll always be a work in progress.
#TECHtalkGA
I very much appreciate the candor of this tweet, my friend! THANK YOU for speaking this truth; there are many others looking to make this sort of change, and it will be encouraging for them to see how it resulted positively for you! #TECHTalkGA
A3: I think I regret not trusting my gut sooner. I see some of the amazing conversations I've had with my colleagues of late and realize that we could've has these sooner. That said, everything happens in it's appropriate timing, IMO.
#TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA Q3: What changes have occurred professionally that you REGRET? How would you do it differently, if you had the opportunity?
OR, are there changes that you regret NOT happening?
A3: I regret not making changes with how I grade sooner - I’ve been as much a reason for grades preventing learning at times. I’m excited to move forward with new ideas and plans to evaluate standards not compliance - wish me luck 🙄😂🤞 #TechTalkGA
That's hard, b/c the tech support is easy, while the instructional coaching is harder and takes more time, It's a mind shift for you and teachers, but you'll all get there! Maybe at different times, LOL, but it's the path we're all trying to follow.
#TECHtalkGA
I was and still am so proud of you for taking this chance, for interviewing, and for taking the leap! What is most important is that you have the power to make a difference for kids who don't deserve a mediocre education, no matter where they live. Thank you! #TECHtalkGA
A3: I didn’t get the chance to put my PD plan in place and I regret that I didn’t push a little harder to get it implemented. However, things happen for a reason, and I have done more personal PD outside of the bldg than I thought possible #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
#TECHtalkGA
A4: I would live to see even more experts in their fields moderate this chat. We've got a lot of very talented people that participate in this chat.
A4: I would love to see this chat used as a platform for those of us in various districts to partner together to create collaborative activities for our Ts & Ss that break down the walls of our schools/districts. #TECHtalkGA
A3: I regret not finding a way to better support teachers when implementing tech. in their classroom. I'm guilty of teaching a tool the best I can in 40ish minutes...but then there's no follow up in the classroom. #TechTalkGA
A4 #TECHTalkGA
I'll refer to @iamryanwhite on this one. Not only does he have a beautifully succinct way of putting this, I believe that we are all in agreement! And, yes, it WILL be happening:
https://t.co/xTLXfUzbuJ
A4: Perhaps a focus on the differences in our counties from which ideas can be fostered to help improve technology delivery & instructional strategies? #TECHtalkGA
A4: I’d like to see Voxer used in some way - could combine the book study idea (just did a great book study on Voxer). It’s a great way to deepen conversations that start on Twitter #TechTalkGA
Sorry I’m just seeing this @ClintWinter@MmeBurgess! I would certainly change the intro to Google and Chrime to be more “scheduled”, rather than deep end of pool. #TECHtalkGA
In reply to
@MmeBurgess, @ClintWinter, @MmeBurgess
A4: would love to see more involvement in @GATE_ORG working together to affect changes in teacher education programs across the state. The conference call for proposals is open now. #TECHtalkGa hope to see a lot of you there in October.
#techtalkga A3: Seems like I learn best from trial and error. If you are moving forward, you are bound to fail a lot. Failure shouldn't necessarily bring regrets much if you know your failures make you better.
A4: I'd love to see a Mastermind group come out of this where we can work as accountability partners to keep each other on track with our DIY PD or EdTech experiments. #TECHtalkGA
A4 - Since I am a total newbie, I would love to use this chat to help expand my PLN. There is so much to learn from all of you fabulous people! #TECHtalkGA
Absolutely true! If I had asked this question a year ago, my change would have included WAY different things! A tinY mindset shift can have far-reaching implications!
#TECHtalkGA
A4: Strategies for assisting teachers without overwhelming them with just "one more thing". Also, how can we get Supers, Principals, and other admin on board with putting a focus on tech PD for EFFECTIVE integration. #TECHtalkGA
#TECHtalkGA
A4: I would live to see even more experts in their fields moderate this chat. We've got a lot of very talented people that participate in this chat.
A4 #techtalkga Id love to see cross curricular chat opps. Maybe a Tech with a Core pairing to share collab in the classroom. Kinda like being a friend to church Sun! @MmeBurgess@ClintWinter
#TECHtalkGA
A5: I keep coming back to focusing on purpose. Even though in my head this sometimes shifts, I know that influencing others in a positive direction is always the goal.
#TECHtalkGA A5: Keep learning - speaking of which, my Ss and I finally printed our first 3d object with our printer - it just takes finding that 1 kid to help out.
A4: I’m with @JustMewborn, I’d love to see more people get involved with this chat. Maybe we can have specific geographic areas moderate for a month? Just throwing out ideas! #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
A5
Being in grad school, I refuse to make a SMART goal out of this since I write them almost every day.
However, I think that my goals need to be achievable and fall in line with dept/district expectations. If not, it may be time for some disruption.
#TECHtalkGA
A5: I fell in love with the idea of OKRs (a goal-setting merhod used by Google) a couple years back. My pal @Technitkali put them to use in a former role and I'd finally like to do them for myself to share on my site. #TECHtalkGA#okr
A5 - Little steps - I know I can't do it all at once. Also, listening and learning by watching others is going to be extremely important in the days to come. #TECHtalkGA
Our work in progress can be the best reminder of where we still need to go as a group! Don't be afraid of sharing that! (Says the shy introvert, LOL)
#TECHtalkGA
A5: I have some good books to read and hope to figure out some more of the logistics to do reader's/writer's workshop. Also collaborating on a plan for mastery grading in ELA! And I'm taking the level 1 Google exam! #TECHtalkGA
A5: I will continue to seek out resources on Twitter for ideas I’d like to implement such as #SBG and doing more rotation stations with technology in my class. I am also looking forward to some of the summer PD I have planned for gaining ideas to use next year
#TECHtalkGA
A5: Make a conscious effort to say yes to opportunities that get me out of my comfort zone and help me grow! Speaking, facilitating, and simply trying new things! #TECHtalkGA
A4: I’d like to see Voxer used in some way - could combine the book study idea (just did a great book study on Voxer). It’s a great way to deepen conversations that start on Twitter #TechTalkGA
A5: Now that my head is clear and I'm recharged, I hope to make Progress this next year by putting my passion into action! I hope to serve as a support for educators and help them engage Ss through effective tech integration. Stay Tuned for Good News! #TECHtalkGA
A5: By having the end goal always in site. For me and what I do it is simply having a good answer for, "How can technology enhance and enrich what we do in the classroom".. . I really try to make that drive conversations and decisions I make. #techtalkga
Great chat tonight, #TECHtalkGA! Thanks to everyone who participated! If you’ve been reading along & lurking, consider speaking up!
Next week’s chat will mark the return of two of our founders, @JFarm & @maherley! Join us to welcome them back!
A4 - Since I am a total newbie, I would love to use this chat to help expand my PLN. There is so much to learn from all of you fabulous people! #TECHtalkGA
A5: I’m continuing to work on basic google certification. I’ve “soft launched” my PD website with the help of @AnnaColley and @cbuckybeaver and I’m getting as involved with as many #edcamp sessions and other tech conferences, Twitter too, as possible! #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
#techtalkga please join my ongoing chat where we discuss all things Edtech and John Cougar Mellencamp. It's called #johncougarmellenchat. I'm going to do my dissertation on that one day.
Only way to grow is to continue to step away from our areas of comfort @mrsbuckenham! Kudos for PLN participation. I’m not a techie at all so I get real anxious in here. #TECHtalkGA
ECCHS Stakeholders! Tomorrow night (4/24) is our “EC Cyber Celebration” starting at 6:00 PM! 1 quick hour...5 different stations. We’ll be in the Media Center, and we’d love all to attend and bring one friend! Don’t miss it! 🤘🏼💙💻
OMG, I have so many! I definitely need someone to pare down my bookshelf! I just ordered two new one and I have 7 unread in my Kindle app!!
