A1: Our world has reached the point where our connectedness is everywhere and effects each one of us. Our young people need to understand that we all rise together and that they have a responsibility and the power to bring about positive change. #rethink_learning
A2. Purposefully connecting the SJ to the overall curriculum through student driven inquiry & culturally responsive practices. It’s not all about fundraising! #rethink_learning
A2: The essential components of #SocialJustice that need to be addressed is to teach tolerance. We are all different and need to learn to understand those differences and how we are all human. We need to empower Ss to develop empathy and compassion for others. #rethink_learning

"In today's diverse classrooms, students need knowledge and skills related to both prejudice reduction and collective action. Together, these domains represent a continuum of engagement in anti-bias, multicultural and social justice education."
This reminds me of the magazine that would appear on my desk twice yearly - started in January 1992, and it helped teachers and students fight stereotypes and learn to appreciate diversity. #rethink_learning

Teaching students about social justice is important because as a teacher your modeling through the curriculum the positive impact of being active agents of change instead of taking a back seat and being passive.
Love this question. We need to ask Ss these questions. Look at the #SDGs around real-world problems and have them problem-solve ways to address those issues locally and globally. #rethink_learning
Thanks so much for joining us tonight! A great conversation as usual! Hope to see you in two weeks as we talk about #socialmedia in education! #rethink_learning
In grade 2 I connected the unlimited milk bags project with social studies. My glass collected over 4000 milk bags to make 4 mattresses for the homeless living on the streets. My students applied the number talk strategies to update milk bag tallies. #rethink_learning
Recently @A_Dobbie11 and @RCTontario brought 23 refurbished computers to our school. My students talk about reusing technology instead filling the landfill site. Building student agency to make a difference. #rethink_learning
Wow, “...ask questions about missing or silenced voices...”. I’m going to have to sit with this for a bit and then figure out my next steps. #rethink_learning
'The unspoken rule in education is that (white) middle-class culture is the only meaningful one and that we must all aspire to it. This is wrong,' writes @ieshasmall: https://t.co/axalLO4FIS
