new presentations of plays, but concepts are all introduced in camp

A1. New wrinkles. Don't like messing with OL rules and thought process.

I'd agree with this..easier to adjust a route or intro a new concept than it is to work around OL rules for a run play

Nov 9 @ 9:10 PM EST
@txhsfbchat
A1: we will introduce new routes or combinations but we leave the run game alone for the most part. Passing game is easier

A1 Defensively we will introduce new checks slowly that we will need as the season continues and build on those

Q2: How much time will you spend working the new play leading up to the game?
#txhsfbchat
coach_remer
Nov 9 @ 9:15 PM EST
A1: we usually just tweak plays. Not add new ones.
#txhsfbchat
Coach_Shiffman
Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
A2: depends on how important it is to the game plan. If it's imperative you rep it like a regular play. If not you find spots
#txhsfbchat
coachemup17
Nov 9 @ 9:16 PM EST
A2. We will dedicate time in all practices for new concepts. Monday pretty sloppy, Tuesday better, if not good by Weds it's out
#txhsfbchat
The_Coach_A
Nov 9 @ 9:17 PM EST
A2: Must be rep'd every practice situationally. If you don't run it in practice, why even put it in the call sheet?

A2. Big believer that each thing needs to be worked in Individual, then in group setting them in team setting. Must be in order
#txhsfbchat

A2: plays are repped during their normal period and placed accordingly in the practice script

A2 Defensively we will rep the call a little more than we think it will be called to ensure we are comfortable with it
#txhsfbchat

Nov 9 @ 9:20 PM EST

#txhsfbchat

Nov 9 @ 9:24 PM EST
A3: It has to be sound & work against a worse case scenario. If you don't test it you are just guessing & calling it to call it.

A1) more likely to run base play but find a formational advantage. Little window dressin'

#txhsfbchat
ocjacobmorris77
Nov 9 @ 9:29 PM EST
A3: our passing system allows us to guide the qbs thinking and take away a large portion of the burden

A3: If its something that can be worked in easily, then its a no brainer, if it takes extra practice away from our GoTos then no
#txhsfbchat
Coach_Shiffman
Nov 9 @ 9:30 PM EST
A4: it all really depends on the play and our system. Some plays are easier to steal than others. Sometimes you just take a part
#txhsfbchat
The_Coach_A
Nov 9 @ 9:31 PM EST
A4: Of course! You just fit it into your scheme & terminology.
#txhsfbchat
SenatorCoach
Nov 9 @ 9:31 PM EST
A4: Most of that should be done in offseason; if you do, it has to fit scheme and philosophy, and practiced WEEKS before use!
#txhsfbchat
Coachjlord10
Nov 9 @ 9:32 PM EST
A4. Run what you want within your offensive identity you can't run spread if you don't have the joes to do it.

Q5: In the game, how do you work it into your plan?
#txhsfbchat
ocjacobmorris77

using a route tree allows it to be flexible. Allows you to draw it up in the dirt with confidence
#txhsfbchat
In reply to @txhsfbchat

Nov 9 @ 9:37 PM EST
A5: all about timing. If you've set the defense up for it or if it's after a turnover or change of possession
#txhsfbchat

#txhsfbchat

Coach_Shiffman
Nov 9 @ 9:46 PM EST
A6: if it's effective against multiple looks

A6) Success, will keep it in, but should be evaluated in the off season. Why is it working, will it continue to be
#txhsfbchat
coach_remer
Nov 9 @ 9:48 PM EST
a6: If it won't work against multiple defensive looks, its more of a gimmick than a play IMO

Coach_Shiffman
Nov 9 @ 9:52 PM EST
A7: I look for things that work that the other team is running and try to find our most similar play

Nov 9 @ 9:54 PM EST
Q7: I find it easier to attack personnel than worry about scheme
#txhsfbchat
coach_remer
Nov 9 @ 9:54 PM EST
A7. We try to find their weak point and try to exploit it. Susceptible to the sweep, dont like people running right at them, etc
#txhsfbchat
SenatorCoach
Nov 9 @ 9:54 PM EST
A7:Don't want to add a lot, because it isn't what we did all summer, all fall camp, and in prac every day; that's the good stuff
