Brigit Minden, Central High High school, (yes, that is the name, not a typo), I teach high school math, and I hope to learn how to be a rockstar teacher!!! #oklaed
We have a packed house tonight!! Glad to see everyone. Tonight is a little different. No QA format. Just good old convo. Just start talking about any of the prompts. #Oklaed
I hope to learn something that will allow me to grow in this profession. Just completed #1stchat and it reminded me to make sure my Ss see that I’m learning. #OklaEd
BIG NEWS! Best selling author Angie Thomas will be coming to campus as part of our @Take_RootRJ Conference, and you've got a chance to hear her speak. Come out Friday, Feb 23 from 10-11am in Reynolds Performing Arts Center for a great lecture!
I wont put outside my door but my goal this week it to get in all the classroooms!! I have missed seeing my teachers!! I've been working away and got to get reconnected to the great staff we have! #oklaed
We have a packed house tonight!! Glad to see everyone. Tonight is a little different. No QA format. Just good old convo. Just start talking about any of the prompts. #Oklaed
Hmmm... My students will be reading her book. Maybe I can talk my principal into letting me go... Or making it a field trip... Can students go? #oklaed
I read some of the site @thnorfar posted earlier about #observeme. It appears to be a willingness to get real time feedback from colleagues and even students at any time in our classrooms. #oklaed
I will admit I have been wanting to post the #observeme sign outside my classroom. Bc all are welcome. But allow for some constructive chaos when you enter. You won’t find a silent class, but you will observe learning. #oklaed
Hello everyone! I am new to the chat. I am an ECE student at OU-Tulsa. I am excited about what I can learn from other professionals in the teaching field. #OklaEd
#cpsreds doors are open to any and all to observe teachers, makerspaces, even inter generational Pre-K #OklaEd. We hope to share and learn from visitors
From @thnorfat site earlier...about #observeme. It appears to be a willingness to get real time feedback from colleagues and even students at any time in our classrooms. #oklaed
Oh I love giving feedback. I sometimes don't like receiving it. Especially from students. But I think I need to become much more open to hearing what those in my class everyday have to say #OklaEd
I do not believe a well managed classroom is silent, military style, I believe we all have a voice and have the right to be heard. #oklaed remember that when you #observeme
No one is above #observeme. If we are truly in the profession to better ourselves and be lifelong learners, then we must be open to others giving us feedback to improve. #oklaed
As teachers we should always seek feedback. We can easily miss things we bought we were doing but aren’t #observeme gives us the opportunity improve what we do. #oklaed
Two goals. First, and most important, to connect authentically with each Ss I serve. Secondly...we are blessed with 3D printers across the curriculum at the Wood. It is fun watching Ss get excited about this and wanting to start designing. Will integrate into math. #oklaed
Never heard of #observeme before today, but we do something similar with "Pineapple Weeks" - love the idea of bringing other Ts into the classroom. It is great for reflection and keeps me on my toes! Plus, I love getting to observe others as well! Great PD! #oklaed
At DCHS we all have an #observeme posted. Something we do well and some we need to improve on. Teachers visit each other’s rooms and exchange ideas. #oklaed Great to use with 1st year teachers.
Discussions are supposed to be all over the place. Answer a prompt, pose a question or just share out what you feel. Its an unchat like unconference :) #oklaed
We encourage each other to come in and observe by posting the sign with strengths and work goals outside our door. It’s a great way of getting feedback and modeling strengths #oklaed
I just talked to @MrsSearcy112 about getting feedback from students to inform instructional decisions. You can listen on the #reThinkELA podcast in a couple of weeks. #OklaEd
In reply to
@ebarnes73, @BeckiLaoshi, @thnorfar, @MrsSearcy112
I will admit I have been wanting to post the #observeme sign outside my classroom. Bc all are welcome. But allow for some constructive chaos when you enter. You won’t find a silent class, but you will observe learning. #oklaed
Hello #Oklaed!!! Are you enjoying U2 right now? Well while you are listening. Let’s kick off this chat with some intros. State who you are, where you are from, what you do and what you hope to learn. #Oklaed
I am a strong believer in feedback. I have my students do a self-assessment each week and one of the questions is "What can Mrs. Minden do to help you understand something better?" #oklaed
#observeme sounds like an invitation to have colleagues, or possibly others, to come watch the art of teaching. I believe when observations are done regularly and the feedback is honest and genuine then the teaching process is improved. #oklaed
Feedback is always welcomed as long as a solution/suggestion is provided with the feedback. As longs as we collectively choose to be a part of the solution and not the problem, I welcome it! #oklaed
#oklaed A benefit for using #observeme is learning new ideas to use with our students. We can see classroom management, strategies, and how discussions are used.
I think your colleagues have to really understand what the goal is behind #observeme. I can see some choosing to be punitive w/o fostering growth. #OklaEd
I read some of the site @thnorfar posted earlier about #observeme. It appears to be a willingness to get real time feedback from colleagues and even students at any time in our classrooms. #oklaed
If you have colleagues that are committed to growth and constructive criticism then I can truly see the benefits to this practice. It really takes trust and confidence in others. #OklaEd
Coming in late, I made it to question 6 on @hqtrivia tonight! Super excited to be able to tune in tonight! 🤩 🤓 April Gustafson School Climate Specialist in OKC #OklaEd
I always love the idea that I make it look easy, I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to talk to new teachers about professional growth and to not expect perfection from the start #oklaed
There is a benefit to observe me, it is another data point..I am rarely observed and I think it would be good for others to be able to back me up for teaching. #oklaed
A potential con with #observeme - somebody walking into your room with no idea of what you have been doing - what your routines are - this could be completely different than what one is used to and lead to some unhelpful feedback #oklaed
Sorry to be late. Debbie from CachePS, DoDEA Grants Project Director; fmr ELA tchr & prin; lifelong educator regardless of title; do what’s best for kids @dodeagrants#oklaed
#observeme...I love the constructive aspect, but i also understand hesitation...if you're looking to see how I implement "canned curriculum" don't bother...there can be fear that innovative teaching will be frowned upon...just keep'n it real. #oklaed
I do think it would be great for #Observeme to work across the state as PD. There are so many I would love to watch in action. I also think it would be great for students to have the opportunity to learn from students in other schools. #oklaed
I’ve had several peers observe me from several different districts, it’s always a fun experience for all of us- I love the feedback, and it helps me stay reflective- making sure I’m always challenging myself (not just my students!) #oklaed#pdbearchat
Are the postings moving to fast for you to keep up? Been there. Remember just respond as you feel and say what you feel. Also take time to jam to the grammy’s. I did :) #oklaed
I think your colleagues have to really understand what the goal is behind #observeme. I can see some choosing to be punitive w/o fostering growth. #OklaEd
#oklaed I'm just checking in tonight late, but this - - our DCHS teachers who invite other teachers inside to see what works in their professional practice!
We encourage each other to come in and observe by posting the sign with strengths and work goals outside our door. It’s a great way of getting feedback and modeling strengths #oklaed
At K20, we call #observeme being "critical friends". We will professionally give one another feedback on ways to improve and better what we have to offer others.
If we want the best product possible for our client (ie. students), then why wouldn't we be open to that? #oklaed
#oklaed Does it just have to be a teacher that comes in to observe? What about students who are in the same class but with a different teacher? I am doing this idea with another teacher. Her class comes in once a week or we go her class and have Socratic discussions & projects.
Someone mentioned in the say way following a toddler exhausts you, it would be good to have a state legislator see how hard teachers work. #observeme#oklaed
I️f a teacher is struggling in a particular area, I️ find a teacher that does it well and have them visit their classroom. Hasn’t any problems getting them into each other’s rooms. #oklaed
Next year that is going to change, but moving with the #Observeme concept there are ways to arrange for teachers to observe others. I think it is an untapped resource that can lend insight into how others do it in all subject areas. #oklaed
If you walk into my classroom to #observeme please be open minded and give way to my procedures, my classroom rules, etc. we have to go in open minded and not to judge. You are there to offer feedback but also to learn. #oklaed
You can absolutely use students!!! They are sometimes the best people to observe. Just make sure the form you are giving them to use doesn’t allow to give you useless info #oklaed
#observeme...I love the constructive aspect, but i also understand hesitation...if you're looking to see how I implement "canned curriculum" don't bother...there can be fear that innovative teaching will be frowned upon...just keep'n it real. #oklaed
That is my hope. I am starting it this week. Have done it informally but like the ability to discuss w/others who have joined the movement #observeme#Oklaed
Anyone else noticed that their entire site is being used to bash public schools. If their “choice” is so great then it should sell itself. I would also like for them to stop using our hashtag. 🙄 #oklaed
I think the more honest we are with each other and open to constructive criticism the better we will all be. We have to check our egos at the door. This is way too important a job to put feelings in the way of growth. #oklaed#observeme
#ObserveMe can be a life-changer for someone that is uncomfortable or just learning. A professional feedback loop can be the lifeline to making dramatic improvements, reducing stress, and making the work enjoyable. #oklaed
If you are posting an #observeme sign on your door, you already have the mindset of growth. No matter what the observer says, you are seeking to grow from it, even if their intent was harsh or overly critical. #oklaed
#ObserveMe can have a huge impact on growth Bc we don’t know until we get told. We have to be open to new ideas from our peers/admin. If I wasn’t open to new ideas I wouldn’t participate in these chats. #oklaed let’s learn together!
Thank you!! The judgement fears are so real but unnecessary! Feedback is not an attack, it is another tool allowing us to grow! I’m in! #observeme#oklaed
#ObserveMe can be a life-changer for someone that is uncomfortable or just learning. A professional feedback loop can be the lifeline to making dramatic improvements, reducing stress, and making the work enjoyable. #oklaed
I love this idea! It’s something that will be extremely helpful for beginning teachers. This is a concept I’ll take advantage of because I’m always open to feedback, especially if it will benefit my students. #oklaed
We’re having some more observers from Tulsa in a couple of weeks (I’m in Noble)- I think it’s helpful to me to hear about what they do in class, they might be observing me, but I spend lots of time getting new ideas too! #oklaed#pdbearchat
I think the more honest we are with each other and open to constructive criticism the better we will all be. We have to check our egos at the door. This is way too important a job to put feelings in the way of growth. #oklaed#observeme
#ObserveMe cons: not believing that younger teachers have something to offer veteran teachers, breaking down the barriers to feedback when it is viewed as a critique. #oklaed
You guys are really chatting. I would like to do a shameless plug for us to possibly keep talking about this at @EdCampOKC. Check out our new facebook page:https://t.co/kgQ8WzGX9q#oklaed
Pros to #observeme
1. Instant feedback
2. Deeper connection due to being vulnerable.
3. Open to new ideas.
4. Fresh eyes on your teaching. Compels you to give your best without "dog/pony" show.
5. You get to observe the other person.
#oklaed
#oklaed We are doing our first Pineapple Schedule this Tues.!! For years, Ts have asked to each other, but it’s hard to get them to put themselves out there, so admin. set it up.
The best thing about #observeme is that it isn't a canned eval. I feel like formal evaluations are too easy to "fake." I want real feedback on a normal day when I don't necessarily know someone is coming. #oklaed
I also know a lot of people doing it with ipads.. so you don't have the observer effect (ie. kids being good). We have a Kubi Robot (@RevolveRobotics ) where the observer can control where the iPad is pointing. #oklaed
Agreed! Sometimes we may not be willing to own it publicly but the feedback may be working in the background daily... and hopefully for it will make us better we will eventually embrace it!! #oklaed#observeme
How can we make #observeme the norm?
The main thing I gather is in order for this to really be effective locally first, then district wide is there has to be a safe space and an AMAZING culture implemented first.
No fakeness because it could get raw quickly.
#oklaed
#ObserveMe can have a huge impact on growth Bc we don’t know until we get told. We have to be open to new ideas from our peers/admin. If I wasn’t open to new ideas I wouldn’t participate in these chats. #oklaed let’s learn together!
Wow. I only had 1 and 4 on my list as well. My other pros:
1. Data on for me to see if I am reaching my goal
2. Ability to control my own development
3. Its a real evaluation. Especially by students. They don’t care about my feelings at the high school level #Oklaed
It can be hard - maybe the teacher you want to observe has the same planning period. For this to work it needs to be intentional and have some support from admin #oklaed
Most definitely. It is one professional to another in a professional manner. Never critical, always motivated by helping a colleague to grow in their craft. #oklaed
Del City High School has a supportive culture that extends teacher to teacher, as well as admin to teacher, and teacher to admin. #feedback#gotmyback#oklaed
I️f a teacher is struggling in a particular area, I️ find a teacher that does it well and have them visit their classroom. Hasn’t any problems getting them into each other’s rooms. #oklaed
I would LOVE the opportunity to observe other AP Bio teachers within the district and surrounding districts, what an incredible source of info that would be! #oklaed
I’ve asked teachers to observe each other for years. We all learn so much from observing & being observed by peers. It develops a rich culture. #oklaed
I feel that #observeme evaluations should be authentic. We can give each other recommendations, but we should also give each other praise and acknowledge what our peers are doing well. #oklaed
A goal I'm putting outside me (digital) door this week #oklaed,
I want to be able to connect with 200 new educators on Twitter.
Besides paying for "bots", any suggestions?
I also know a lot of people doing it with ipads.. so you don't have the observer effect (ie. kids being good). We have a Kubi Robot (@RevolveRobotics ) where the observer can control where the iPad is pointing. #oklaed
I disagree about needing the culture first. #observeme can be what brings the culture. If a few are willing to open up then more will do the same #fieldofdreams#oklaed
I would LOVE the opportunity to observe other AP Bio teachers within the district and surrounding districts, what an incredible source of info that would be! #oklaed
I would suggest starting small like your department. Ask them to come just for 10 minutes on a planning period. If you don’t think that would work. Try sharing what your students have said and how it has helped you. #Oklaed
I think it would be beneficial for #Observeme to occur at all levels, not just the teacher in the classroom. I know we host others to come in and observe but to have instructional rounds with our own teachers may be a good experience for all involved. #oklaed
Several have mentioned problems with Ts coming. Has anyone tried having food for when they come through. It is amazing what people will do for chips and dip #oklaed
#observeme is a positive, feedback loop for teachers to be intentional on improving the essence of instruction. Much like coaching. A huge Pro growing as an educator. Formative assessment for teachers:) #oklaed
We need to create a culture of growth among educators...a culture that encourages innovation and growth. I think Ts often receive mixed messages (use the curriculum guide, use a program...be an innovative 21st century teacher...which is it?) #OklaEd
You have to be able to be okay with someone thinking you are a little bizarre and not embracing your method of teaching, but that’s ok really, as long as the kids are engaged and THEY get it, it’s all good #oklaed#pdbearchat
I think it can get ugly really quickly depending on where you are, observers definition of feedback etc... BUT if you know yourself & your goals, then it can only propel us forward?! 🤔🤷🏼♀️ Hopefully!! #oklaed#observeme
#ObserveMe pros: continual feedback leads to improvement, great for building relationships and culture in your schools, no one keeps great ideas and methods a secret! #oklaed
The pineapple is the Hawaiian symbol for hospitality, so a schedule that welcomes visitirs to the classroom. The problem is that Ts don’t want to brag. Admin just picked a day and asked Ts to tell us what they were doing that day and if visitors were welcome. #observeme#oklaed
Cons to #observeme: constant disruption to class if done too frequently and potential for cursory feedback to be given to teachers. Ineffective feedback is equivalent to no feedback. #oklaed
Cons to #observeme#oklaed
- Folks could get really salty and in their feelings super quick. (Like from 0 to 100).
- Instead of listening to and growing from the feedback, the person could try to justify every little thing.
- Strained working relationships.
#oklaed With #observeme, teachers can build connections and collaboration between subject areas and grade levels. Veteran and new teachers can learn from this experience. #growthmindset
I think it would be a good idea for secondary teachers to #observeme at the primary level and vice versa. I need to see what they kids are doing & how Ts are managing at the lower level and they need to see where the Ss are headed. #OklaEd
Cons to #observeme#oklaed
- Folks could get really salty and in their feelings super quick. (Like from 0 to 100).
- Instead of listening to and growing from the feedback, the person could try to justify every little thing.
- Strained working relationships.
I think you can start by opening yourself to others even if the trust isn't there yet. The trust can grow later and as trust grows the quality of feedback will too. #oklaed#observeme
Man, I was afraid you guys would miss the Q/A format. You guys are tearing up my feed w/just talking. We are at the half way point. If you haven’t said something, say something! #oklaed
but i think at the same time someone with an #observeme sign outside their door understands that and is open to hearing any feedback and more importantly able to decide to use that feedback or not and move on. cause that's what i'd do. 🙂
Few more cons #oklaed,
- I could see some admins FORCING the teachers to pair up. Top down approach.
- This could be another "Yet another new thing" added and folks would "wait it out" until the next latest/greatest thing comes along.
We are fortunate as #cpsreds to have many come in to observe from outside the district, but how much better would it be if we employed the #observeme principles when they are on campus? #oklaed
After reading more about #observeme & talking with others, I see the idea being extremely beneficial for beginning teachers! I’m always open to feedback & I would want experienced educators helping me become the best teacher I can be! :) #oklaed
If what you are saying or the way you are saying is more likely to engage a power struggle rather than effectively deliver a message, change something! Know your audience! #oklaed

I saved photos of several #observeme signs I found on Twitter. Lots of great ideas for feedback requests. I think using the QR Code link to a Google form makes it easy for observers to respond. #oklaed
i really like #observeme but i work at a school where walking into someone's classroom unannounced is the norm. we are all very open and collaborative. so i see the hesitation some might have but for me it works! #oklaed

Last concern (well it's not really a concern tho)
Teaching can be subjective, especially when rubrics are concerned. Ts have to be on the same page and decide how the rubrics would be graded.
(e.g., inferring what was taught vs. nah)
#oklaed
@dena_rogers If I remember right, it was a strategy she used in her class. @TynansClass can you tell us about the Pineapple schedule. I shared your wonderful #observeme with #oklaed tonight.
In reply to
@allen_lehman, @dena_rogers, @TynansClass
Peer observation is a part of PLC and many other platforms The idea of a teacher welcoming someone anyone to walk in by posting it on her door is awesome #observeme#OklaEd
i also would love to see more people that come to tour our school and my classroom actually USE the #observeme sign outside my door so i get the feedback and you just don't go to a conference room and talk about me without letting me know what you saw. help a sista out! #oklaed
This definitely has to be a T-led, bottom up, admin role as support only type initiative in order for it to work. Of course, this could be said of just about everything in education... #OklaEd
Especially for literacy skills-We need to observe the strategies that are used and maybe, even adapt variations of the strategies into the high school classes. #oklaed
I think it would be a good idea for secondary teachers to #observeme at the primary level and vice versa. I need to see what they kids are doing & how Ts are managing at the lower level and they need to see where the Ss are headed. #OklaEd
I don't believe it is different. A peer observation in iObservation can occur along a #observeme visit. The peer to peer observations are private and the discussions can be helpful. #oklaed
I think the venue, method, formality in which the feedback is given is much more growth focused w/#observeme as opposed to an "official scored evaluation" IMHO #observeme#oklaed
This. If you lose the authenticity to this, if it becomes just another chore (like Andre said)...it will be the opposite of effective. #observeme signs have gotta be voluntary. #oklaed
This definitely has to be a T-led, bottom up, admin role as support only type initiative in order for it to work. Of course, this could be said of just about everything in education... #OklaEd
More pros #oklaed
- Asking Ts/As to focus on specific things (with the sign outside the door), helps them to hone in on those specific things and not other parts of the lesson.
- This could show your admins that you're really working on your craft before/after the observation.
Don’t wait for someone to come! If you are doing great things or even if you are struggling, extend the invitation! Takes away ALL the uncomfortableness #oklaed
and it's gotta start in your own grade level team and building. have each other's back! be open to learning from each other! take the suggestions and the help when you need it! we want our kids to have a growth mindset then we need ones as well! #oklaed
Absolutely!! I think it can start with a person in the building that people respect and have a relationship with. I am kicking it off in my building this week. Hope to report my outcomes @EdCampOKC#oklaed
Clearly, I need to hit up one of my school's elementary teachers for some time observing her during my plan, and a debriefing and strategy session later! #oklaed
More pros #oklaed.
- (For some) it'll help people communicate effectively. Using sentence starters, rephrasing how to approach the difficult conversations with tact vs. tactless.
If you aren't prepared to grow when you post #observeme on your door, take it down and go back to your own island of teaching, your kids will suffer for it and you will be miserable and its obvious that your administrator hasn't provided quality feedback to you #oklaed
I saved photos of several #observeme signs I found on Twitter. Lots of great ideas for feedback requests. I think using the QR Code link to a Google form makes it easy for observers to respond. #oklaed
I found an important component with teacher-on-teacher observations is the time to debrief afterward. If there is a more active partner puts themselves in the vulnerable place first to set the tone. #oklaed
Yes!!! Observations, tips, feedback, & even criticism can push us to grow, be uncomfortable, & overcome! (Or let it end you but we don't do that!) #observeme#oklaed
Yes!! Seeing the big picture is so important. The more we know about the grades above and bellow the better prepared we are to help Ss make connections! #oklaed
I think it would be a good idea for secondary teachers to #observeme at the primary level and vice versa. I need to see what they kids are doing & how Ts are managing at the lower level and they need to see where the Ss are headed. #OklaEd
That would be awesome! I received a bit of feedback from Cache administrators during their visit to our makerspace. I would be glad to have that from anyone who visits our school. #oklaed
lots of teachers I’ve talked to have the “I’m not good enough/“cool enough” mentality and feel very intimidated, but they’d probably be very surprised at the peer feedback they would get! (Plus, it takes away the whole preparation anxiety phase) #oklaed#pdbearchat
More pros #oklaed
I could see how As could use this for themselves with their own rubrics like:
1. Academic Leadership
2. Safety
3. Visionaries
4. Mentor/Creating Leaders
5. Building Rapport/Culture
6. Communication to Ps/Ss/Ts
7. Team Leader vs Manager
For the feedback to be authentic it must not be forced. If I tell a teacher to go and observe another teacher just for #observeme then the purpose changes b/c its a mandate. Not everything admin does is against teachers. We are teachers too and want the best for students. #oklaed
I always wondered why As never got evaluated by their staff but only by their bosses? Their bosses didn't spend every day with them? Then, they'd pass out those generic questionnaires which never told the real story. #oklaed#ObserveMe would be powerful for Admins.

There is so much to learn about giving and getting feedback. It really just comes down to being brave enough to put yourself out there. It can be over formalized which often takes away from the authenticity. #OklaEd
And imagine if students got the opportunity to observe their teachers? Talking about feedback!!!! Oh the places you could go with #ObserveMe if the entire school would grab this! #oklaed#dreaming
Agree! We schedule observation rounds open to all Ts & ask specific Ts if we can visit. Love seeing the joy/surprise on their faces that we want others to see their practice #oklaed

I think that #ObserveMe can foster growth, but ONLY if meaningful feedback is provided. I also think that the observer should be open to learning as well. However, chaos is chaos so you can’t call disorder a “difference in procedures” #OklaEd
There is so much to learn about giving and getting feedback. It really just comes down to being brave enough to put yourself out there. It can be over formalized which often takes away from the authenticity. #OklaEd
Kind of aligns w/ admin seeking T input on our practice. Principals: want to build trust w/Ts? implement anonymous survey of your practice, then publicly share results & your own response & growth plan. #oklaed
I think the more honest we are with each other and open to constructive criticism the better we will all be. We have to check our egos at the door. This is way too important a job to put feelings in the way of growth. #oklaed#observeme
I feel like a big part of my #NSUEngEd job is #observeme since I get to observe my Full Interns when they are in the field/not yet THEIR classroom. There is a lot that can be understood about a school/teacher’s classroom culture when you are a visitor... [1/2] #OKLAED
Years ago, I saw a strategy I developed for ELA being used in a math class by a teacher I hadn’t coached. She saw it in a class I coached and adapted it. That’s how #observeme SHOULD work! #oklaed
@ClaudiaSwisher I just checked out your blog. Is there seriously a bill to make sure no one starts school before Labor Day!? And one to get rid of the minimum pay schedule!? I guess we know which Legis don't like us! #oklaed
Our first year of dong instructional rounds was completely voluntary...but eventually we just consider it a norm. When we bring new people on our team, we are clear...you'll have visitors in your classroom, you'll likely be video recorded often, and just our way ;) #OklaEd
I like the idea of #observeme for Admins, how to accomplish it effectively is a challenge. Most want meaningful feedback and those surveys don't provide it. You have any ideas for making it work? #oklaed
#oklaed College professors should observe teachers, and teachers should observe college classes. I'm not talking about new teachers; I'm talking about veteran teachers. It's just one of the steps to help us bridge the gap between high school and college. #observeme
I see #OklaEd is talking about observations. Some of #OklaEd is using the New Visions for Public Schools math curriculum which has instructional routines embedded in it. (1/2)
might depend on what you want out of it but someone that's not in education could come in and answer questions like 'are my students collaborating?' or 'can they articulate what they are working on?' but that's what i want so i get why others might be hesitant to use it! #oklaed
I always try to be a positive presence in the room. A source of support. An external perspective that seeks only to promote growth. Ultimately, I let the lesson PLAN guide my observation, but enjoy when authentic learning/engagement is present and visible. Be confident! #OKLAED
Instructional routines are ideal frames for peer observations as they allow you to jump into teacher decisions in the moment rather than decisions about what kind of lesson could be used. #OklaEd
100% agree if I evaluate you, you should have the chance to evaluate me. Some of my greatest growth as an admin has come through this practice. #oklaed
I always wondered why As never got evaluated by their staff but only by their bosses? Their bosses didn't spend every day with them? Then, they'd pass out those generic questionnaires which never told the real story. #oklaed#ObserveMe would be powerful for Admins.
You could use iObservation to do a peer observation without it counting toward your evaluation score. It could be a place where the two are able to store their discussion and feedback. If the iObservation format scares Ts then this concept will too. #oklaed#Observeme
I am sorry to say, we are at the last five minutes. I would like to know if you would join me @EdCampOKC on March 3 to continue the conversation. Sign up here: https://t.co/299ISFLASV#Oklaed
Isn’t it funny- we are so afraid of looking “less” than other teachers, but these are the very people that have walked in our shoes, and know exactly what we are dealing with! We should be proud of our skills and ok with not being perfect! #oklaed#pdbearchat
School calendar yes. The other I'm gonna have to check. Seems it gives one minimum salary, and then everything is up to districts. I'm checking. #OklaEd
We have room to grow and improve and I'm sure there are things we haven't done right.....but getting out of the slump of silo's and receptive to feedback has been culture changing in itself. #OklaEd

🤩S/O to @CarsonCramer1 for being the 1st to expose me to #observeme 🙌🏻 I noticed the sign on her office door, tag on her twitter profile & I was inspired! Her openness to communicate struggles, ask for feedback or ideas &celebrate successes to me epitomizes #observeme#oklaed
I think of all the times I've remind my Ss we learn from mistakes, we're always growing...if I believe this I'll join the #observeme movement. Wow...this GrowthMindset stuff can be intimidating. #oklaed
One of our BEST and NBCT started working with an instructional coach and others were shocked! When she put herself out there as always willing to improve...many others followed suit. Her willingness to inspired others to be open as well. #OklaEd
This was such a great first chat! Thank you so much to everyone making me feel so welcomed & helping me explore #observeme ! I can’t wait to chat with many of you again soon! #oklaed
