Hi, #EDpiper family! Dr. Cindy Woody, Exec Director of C&I, Midlothian. I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart!!!! #JoyfulLeaders#KidsDeserveIt
I have a question for my #EDpiper friends. What are your basic tenets about student engagement? If someone asked you to name 5-10 concepts or ideas that form your core beliefs, what would they be? #teaching#learning#ideals#values#LeadLAP
Hello, it’s time to roll #EDpiper fans. Let’s get motivated to inspire our PLN. I am @drjohnsonedu Principal in Texas and co-mod. of #EDpiper How is everyone feeling tonight?
#EDpiper is #UNMODERATED tonight. This means it is a FREE FOR ALL! You ask whatever questions you want to ask related to tonight's topic - #MOTIVATING Ss.
Catherine from Fresno County, CA. Graduated from college last year and today I’ve never been better. I keep the motivation alive through positivity and relationships that make me try harder and become greater. It’s all in these chats. #EDpiper
Surrounding yourself with passionate people can get you through tough times. They also inspire you to persevere all the way to the finish line. Good evening, Jessica. #EDpiper
A student who is motivated looks and feels worth it, feels engaged. Rather than sitting and listening, Ss ask questions. They get curious bc they want to learn more. It’s all in THE HOOK. #EDpiper
When students are motivated, they have a drive that won’t stop. Even when challenged to a great extent, they will persevere. They may fall along the way, but the falls don’t stop ‘em. #perseverance#ccepride#EDpiper
Shout out to @MrsPottingerCCE last year with two weeks left to go- walked into her classroom and she had NEW math centers set up! So impressive and keeps kids motivated! #edpiper
MY Ques1: We’ve all heard the saying “life is hard but we must move on”. However there’s always something negative happening so how do you keep that motivation active? #EDpiper
By acknowledging it! I try to Give the negative a Moment and then move on! It also helps to rely on my team when I’m needing a pick me up!! If you can’t go to yours, #EDpiper always has encouragers!
Don't fall prey to office politics! Stay on track, focused on the work and its impact on our students. Hold onto integrity. Do the right thing. Speak the truth in your heart. #EDpiper#JoyfulLeaders#truth#integrity#dogoodbegood
Great piece of advice from a friend: Find & pursue a hobby completely separate from your worklife to avoid becoming stale and one-dimensional. What are your hobbies? #EDpiper#MISDproud
Wow, what a great question! My first thought is that when we defeat life’s challenges, we are motivated to do more. Motivation may not always be a quick process. It may be taking the baby steps needed to gain something bigger. Wins, even small ones, are victorious. #EDpiper

I have family meetings to help Ps understand the importance of solid hw practices before school begins. I explain some brain science & career opportunities, college success rates, etc. #EDpiper
Fantastic core values! Caring, doing good, working harder, getting better, being accountable. These are values to steer your life choices, for sure! #EDpiper#Values#LearnLAP
Trying student chosen citizen science research projects w/class time to work on it. Anyone have luck w/getting S to take on the challenge & engage in this? #steampln#edpiper
Courtney, you are always so positive and encouraging. You never find negative in moments where others might. You are quick to find the best in all situations. You inspire so many of us @CastlemanCreek#EDpiper
These are powerful core values! I think it’s critical to go back to the basics this time of year. Let your core values lead your daily choices. #EDpiper#KidsDeserveIt
My Q2: The famous @ladygaga once said “I can bring the past with me, but I can’t go back”. What ways can we continue moving forward w/o stressing about what already happened? #EDpiper

Lol I bet your great great great great grandpa loved infographics, too! “Back in 3000 BC, I made this infographic in our main headquarters cave.” #EDpiper
oh agreed! As my dad always said growing up "family first, everything else second". So I have focused more on the family aspect, especially raising an 8 month old. #edpiper
What cool ideas will you do for your staff at the end of this year? OR... what cool things have your school leaders done for you at the end of a school year? #EDpiper
Humor is the best way to live in the moment no matter the situation. The students stay motivated when we show humor to them as well... #EDpiper@MrsPottingerCCE

No do-overs on family time. I used to remind my over-extended teachers to remember that their students will have dozens of teachers over their lifetime, but their own children just get one mom & one dad. Have to remember to make our own a priority. I have no regrets! #EDpiper
I recently gave “awards” to our pre-k classes... just to put a little laughter in their day. They each have meaning behind them. Go check them out. They’re posted outside their doors. #EDpiper
Couldn't agree more. I have made it a point that I take pride in that when I come home it is family time. I really try my best to disconnect each night from school work. (Not always the case, but thats okay) #edpiper
I read a story about a guy who hung his work problems on a little tree outside his door & picked them up when he left the next day. I visualize that when I take off my work badge each day. It works! #EDpiper#homesweethome

I think it's also tough going from T to admin, back to T for you. You've seen both sides and gone back. It also shows how much you care and how passionate you are about your material. #edpiper

Funny thing is I always worked SOOO many extra hours on my classroom. Then I took a year off when my kids were small. When I went back, my perspective was changed. I let go of my perfectionism about school so I could have more time w my family. No one even noticed. #EDpiper
Back to motivation. I had a colleague tell me recently that (s)he had done everything they could do in the classroom. They were ready for a new challenge due to things being monotonous. If you are at that point, it’s time to get out of ed. Kids deserve our all #edpiper
You just found different ways at managing your classroom. I know I did. My prep/management is much different than it was when I was a first year teacher. All about managing and balancing. #edpiper
It’s crazy how this one little thing changes my focus. Much more peaceful. It could go both ways, too, if someone had problems at home. Badge on, focus on school. Badge off, focus on home. #EDpiper
I have great days and I have days that aren’t so great in the classroom. Everyday for me is different because I’m learning every day from my peers and my Ss on things I can do better. I change class to class, day to day, year to year. #EDpiper
Oh, ha! @woody_cindy was just picking on me because everything I do is either a #gif or an #infograph. She just found an image proving that my ancestors from 3000 BC too made #infographs. We're friends like that! :-)

Keep the momentum going, everyone. Remember to motivate others. Start a chain reaction on your campus. Where there is motivation, you’ll also find perseverance. #EDpiper
