A1: I would offer that we THINK about our work often (maybe ALL THE TIME!), though we rarely truly REFLECT on our professional responsibilities. #IDedchat
A1: Reflecting is looking back at what went well and what didn't work. I keep a journal/notes and take input from student surveys via #GoogleForms to help me improve. Some of my best reflection has been with the help of students #idedchat#StudentVoice
A1: To reflect on something is to consider/ponder/contemplate something with the express intent to DO something differently. The difference is ACTION. #IDedchat
A1: The Reflective Cycle is the predictable pattern of thinking we pursue as we progress towards expertise. Awareness-Intentionality-Assessing-Adapting #IDedchat

A1) I think that reflection has become a word that is often used and assumed that everyone knows how and why to reflect.
I think we need to elevate the conversation and challenge each other to reflect with purpose especially when challenging the #StatusQuo. #IDedchat
A1) Reflection is a practice that can become automatic. But it has to be focused. I used to reflect in the car after work or class. I worked on it and now, I reflect on my actions almost immediately. #IDedchat

The Reflective Cycle is a tool @AlisaSimeral & I developed to describe the predictable pattern of thinking we all go through as we increase our effectiveness at something. It's how learners & growers think. #IDedchat
A2: To truly reflect (be intentional) allows us to analyze what went well; what didn't go well; why did something go well; why did something not go well; how can we adjust..THEN take action to improve. #IDedchat
Sounds to me like we need to "plan" reflection time into our day/week....so that we can become greater and ultimately do what is best for our students! #IDedchat
A2) We all have a baseline. Once you accept that, then through the use of growth, you can increase your baseline. Over and over to grow professionally and personally. #IDedchat
Sorta. It's the deliberate, focused thinking that precedes each of those actions. We cannot act with intentionality if we haven't engaged our reflective muscles in that direction! #IDedchat
Without reflection Ts can never truly unearth the unknown beliefs they hold about their personal teaching philosophy. Once made known, then teachers can begin making gains toward shifting their beliefs. #idedchat
Like ascending a spiral staircase to a new "floor" of reflective ability each time we progress through the Reflective Cycle! #IDedchat#WishIdThoughtOfThat

A2. Personally, reflection helps me not get fixated and doing the same exact thing like a machine. It also allows me to observe and connect the content the best way to my students. I can change to improve myself and my students. #IDedchat
Reflect on where you are...decide where you want to be....be intentional and plan the action steps to get there....DO you plan.....reflect again! #IDedchat

A3: Find a trusted colleague and sit down to write detailed, explicit lesson plans together. Talk it through ā the power in this is the think-alouds! #IDedchat
1. We gain awareness so we can devise a plan.
2. We think intentionally so we can implement the plan.
3. We consider the impact and assess our work.
4. We focus on adapting to improve.
Lather, rinse, repeat. #IDedchat
A3: Pick three random exit-tickets of student work to examine. Then ask yourself, āWhat EXACTLY did I do that led to these studentsā responses?ā #IDedchat
This goes right along with the PLC process (intentional) we started this year..... We are in the very early stages..but teacher teams will do this exact thing this year. #IDedchat
A3: Pick three random exit-tickets of student work to examine. Then ask yourself, āWhat EXACTLY did I do that led to these studentsā responses?ā #IDedchat
A3) Part of being a sped T that cannot avoid restraining Ss on occasion, means afterwards that we discuss as a team what lead up to the incident. Reflection. Then came reflection in my practice as well as Instructional Rounds. Over and over. #IDedchat

A3. I have been forced to use various reflect the tools such as a Blogger account or other written format. However, I would love to be brave enough to do a video reflection instead of having to write all the time. I just have to overcome my nerves of videoing myself. #IDedchat

My goal was to be a better person and professional educator. Loose understanding. I took as much in as possible and fine tuned what I could attempt at that time. Much like a Twitter chat. #idedchat
Cause and Effect - this is something I can grab ahold of to think through reflection. It is finding a thinking partner that will also be committed to the work that can sometimes be a challenge - we have to learn to put egos aside. (it isn't about us) #IDedchat

I was just thinking that.....and again....another reason I need to be more consistent in doing this. I love that your blog of "reflections" then turned in to a wonderful book! #IDedchat

A4: Hold ourselves accountable. If a lesson didn't go well, make a note of it, change it, something. Don't repeat it and expect different results. #idedchat

A4: First, we need to give ourselves time and grace to build our reflective muscle. Practice engaging in deep reflections while cooking, running, etc. #IDedchat
Q3: Learning walks followed by structured reflection has proven a great tool to increase teacher self efficacy by way of vicarious experiences. #idedchat
I keep notes on my pacing documents with changes for the next year of what went well/didn't and areas that need reinforced. What would I do without #gsuiteedu ? #idedchat
A4: Colleagues, instructional coaches, & administrators can all help. Sit together and ask each other tough, critical questions. No holds barred. #IDedchat
A4: Get comfortable with The Reflective Cycle from Teach, Reflect, Learn. When youāre aware of your thinking, you can drive your next thoughts. #IDedchat
A3) Going a step beyond the lesson and looking at our classrooms, our careers as educators, and our leadership we could take these test... #IDedchat#Wong
R4: Ways for me to reflect would be to blog. I think students should do the same with this. They should hold me accountable as well as each other. #IDedchat

YEs - We use instructional rounds with teachers...very powerful to see colleagues in action. At the end (and after they reflect) I ask participants to commit to one thing they will apply to change their practice. #IDedchat

A4. I am mentally reflecting constantly, my goal for myself, is to start documenting a recording the changes I think so I could share it with other teachers. Building lessons for the next year, I realize that my trials and errorās may be helpful for the new teachers.#IDedchat
I donāt currently, but why not use it as a means of documentation of what went well, what didnāt, how to improve, reflection to a high degree. #IDedchat
A5: The real question is, do you TRULY want to improve at something? Because when you do, youāll expend mental energy towards learning, trying, learning, growing. #IDedchat
A5:You get better by practicing, no matter the skill. Each day I try to be better than I was the day before. I try to instill this daily in my students, "We're better today than we were yesterday." We may slip and F.A.I.L. but we get up & try again. #idedchat
R5: I donāt believe that you can get better without reflection. I am already thinking about how I can make things better for next yearās summer school. We are 2 1/2 weeks into it right now for a 6 week program. #IDedchat
A5: I think change and even improvement may occur but it wonāt be sustainable. Change in behavior without reflection will soon regress to old behaviors at the first sign of difficulty or uncertainty. #idedchat
A5: F.A.I.L. = First Attempt in Learning. I had a student say what if we fail again? Another student responded with "Then it's our Second attempt in learning!" #idedchat

I think that @D4Griffin3 said it - if we work with a team to reflect....relationships must be established first to build trust. To be able to be vulnerable with others. #IDedchat
A6: I have always been an avid journaler. Writing is the great synthesizer of thoughts, so putting things on paper helps me to organize my thinking. #IDedchat
A6: In addition to the book Teach, Reflect, Learn and the Reflective Cycle diagram. @AlisaSimeral and I have a Quick Reference Guide available at https://t.co/vzRG9oiJ4a) #IDedchat
A6: If youāre interested in continuing the dialogue with others on the reflective journey, check out our blog at https://t.co/UGm3jQJ26k#IDedchat#btcfs
A6: Tweeting is sometimes where I reflect....I have a blog...but, I am reflecting that I need to be much more intentional about this process. #IDedchat
I use Google Keep to make a list of things that aren't working or things that I wish that I had for logistics or function throughout the year. As I change things I get to check them off the list! #idedchat
A6) I spend time reading and engaging in conversations with others that challenge my thinking, validate my thoughts, and ultimately help me shift paradigms (mental models) in my mind. #IDedchat
This is great....#IDedchat and just gave some more ideas for how I can reflect with intention. I have Voxer...I am in a group - I never thought about using it for myself. #IDedchat

A7: Set aside time to intentionally reflect using Google Keep and/or Voxer. THEN...turn those into blog posts to take the reflection deeper to analyze who I am and where I want to go. #IDedchat
A great place to reflect and learn from and with other passionate educators is at an Edcamp! Did you know that #edcampidaho is a little over 3 weeks away? Here is our website: https://t.co/Wvki3r6SZr#IDedchat
A7. I am going wanting to reflect upon the units with observation from the content teachers from the other schools where we can write down what was good, bad or needs changed on docs. #idedchat
A7) I am focused on writing more on at least three levels. I actually took a mental break from writing to participate in #IDedchat. I will return to writing in a few minutes.
