A1: Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. -Dr. Suess

Q1: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book or quote?
A1: My favorite Dr. Seuss book is There's a Wocket in My Pocket.
Even though there is a dispute over whether it was truly TG that said it.
Q 2: How does your school promote reading?
A1: Unfortunately, testing sometimes drives reading, but great Ts help instill a love of reading.
I think testing can kill the love of reading.
A2 We take many opportunities to read w/ our buddies from other grades & Kinders go into rooms and read to teachers!
A2 During Read Across America week we invite guest readers to come each day to read to classes.
A2 Dress up days are part of the fun, too. Monday, I went to school as a tree frog for leap day. Each day has a different theme.
I can't even count the ways our school promota reading! We are a literacy lovin' school!
Share your favorite way that your school promotes reading...
A2: When I was still in the classroom, we had DEAR time and even Ts read. 1 day a week, I would read aloud to my Middle Schoolers
A2. Aside fm challenge, Ss engage in a slice of w/ and challenges
A2: Our principal issued a reading challenge this year.
A2 Today our Bishop read to all students in the diocese, our PTO gave us Dr. Seuss cupcakes and we read with our buddies
Q3: How do you use tech to promote reading?
A3:Ebooks are here to stay and can give kids immediate access to vast libraries. Challenge Ss to create book trailers
A1Today was good, today was fun. Tomorrow is another one!

A2 I teach middle school. My students have two minutes of free reading every day.
. I have Epic downloaded but haven't played yet. Any opinion?
A3. AR challenges (Accelerated Reader) Reading Cafe in PJ we make a fun night of it. All Tech used. Like a bk club :-)
. A3 I use to find a variety of resources to make reading engaging at home!
I think Epic has a great selection of books. I love the read aloud option.

A3. I saw that ques coming :-) Yes Yes Yes and we use iMovie
Actually, we want to try out IMovie to make some. Are there other good apps to use?
Do you have any book trailers to share?
A3b: We have used iMovie, Audacity, and PowToon and matched them with QR codes to scan in library. Rule- don't give ending away!
A3b: I'm planning to try out Do Ink app as soon as I get a green screen.
The ones we have thus far are shareable but tied to school family accounts as the Ss in them are under 13 :-(

A4: Well first thing is to steal, I mean borrow, 's listen to reading webmix!
A4. Sharing across grade levels, work created and done as well as resources elsewhere
A4 The gallery is full of great webmixes that promote reading
A4: I'm working to curate favorite authors' websites into a webmix.
We have connected to several authors on our classroom Twitter account. There are so many willing to connect with students.

Last question, Q5: What are some incentives that you offer to encourage students to read?
A5: Students who complete our Winter Break Reading Challenge earn an invite to a Krispy Kreme Doughnut party.
