#KchatAP (Kindergarten Chat Asia Pacific) is a monthly chat originally started for Early Childhood Educators in the Asia Pacific Region. Topics of discussion focus around best practices and support systems in early learning environments. Whether a classroom teacher, specialist, coach, or administrator, we hope you'll come discuss how we can enhance early education for your youngest learners!
Hi #KchatAP! I'm Pana, I work in Taipei as the PreK-2 Tech and Design Coach but I'm currently in Bangkok with my family for spring break! Excited for tonight's topic!
A1: I'll be honest, I teach for somewhat selfish reasons, I like the fulfillment and satisfaction of seeing a child make positive growth and progress. Not that it's all me, but I am glad I get to be a part of each student's journey #KchatAP
A1. I teach to help guide young people to think, collaborate, connect, communicate, & create so that they have a an understanding and empathy about the world. My role is to guide them in this process which we do by building trust and relationships in our learning space. #kchatap
A1: more specifically though, I think that in my current role I teach because I see the growing gap between what school looks like and what the real world looks like. Always looking for new ways to close that gap! #KchatAP
A1:To make a difference! I learned d deeper meaning of did when I took my MA.Ts touch lives&create impact either good or bad.I hope I am one of those that brings good to my learners. Also, I want to make learning fun & meaningful for young learners.Der smile is addictive.#KchatAP
A1: Also after being an ECC teacher for quite sometime, I want to share my skills and knowledge to others. Hopefully other TS will be inspired and become an inspiration to others as well. #KchatAP
A1. I want my students to be inspired by school. To love coming to school. Help them individually understand themselves as learners. To be curious and have a sense of wonder about the world around them. To want to make a difference to the world.
#kchatap
Well said! We want our learners to love learning, be the stakeholder of their learning and be global citizens who show respect for diversity. #KchatAP#caringcommunity

A2: a sometimes mad-looking lady who is willing to try new and crazy things for the sake of innovation! but also cuz ECE is crazy in the BEST possible way 😜 #KchatAP
A2: As an early years educator, I am like a sponge trying my best to absorb (document) all the thinking and learning in our learning space. And think about ways I can help my students fill their buckets. #kchatap#kchatap
A2: I am like a rain that will warmly (will change temp if needed) water young minds to see their passion and gently drop on them as I follow them in becoming who they want to be. #KchatAP
Greetings all. A bit late to the party. Still eating dinner =) A2: I'm like a jungle gym. At 6-3/190cm the little ones thought I was for climbing when I first started teaching. #kchatap
A2. As an EY educator, I’m curious like a … always nosey :D; always observing/listening what my children are thinking, saying, doing while at play (quietly at d background w/o HIJACKING what they’re doing). I think children’s “untampered”ideas r amazing… #KchatAP#SISRocks
A3: Able to build relationships and community. To provoke deep thinking. Able to name the thinking that is happening. To be able to laugh and have fun. To build curiosity. To build agency and action. To be creative. To be able to make real life connections. #kchatap
Still on the subject of superhero! Tonight I say @PanaAsavavatana is MY cyberspace superhero and @michellelmatias is my hero for getting me to be geeky in the first place
#KchatAP A3 A super teacher listens, listens and then listens some more, not only to other teachers and adults, but to the children in the classroom and the environment as well.
A4: Too many superhero teachers to name. Some I know face to face and others from online interactions. #PLN - so many awesome educators! I am lucky to work with @ramsdensuzy who is a superhero teacher to me and everyone she comes into contact with. #kchatap
A3: For me, a Super Teacher: Passionate in developing her kids’ metacognitive skills. Respects (by listening) the children’s theories. Racks her/his brain on how to scaffold/extend the children’s ideas using 100 languages. #KchatAP#SISRocks
I have something else to add to the super T traits. I think a super T needs to be comfortable with being uncomfortable because we need to keep evolving #KchatAP

A6: “Most schools in most countries place a higher priority on teaching students to follow instructions and rules (becoming A students) than on helping students develop their own ideas, goals, and strategies” @mres
