A1 - I don't do anything exceptional when it comes to Grammar Instruction. I teach it in isolation (yuck) & integrate it into Writer's Workshop. I have my kiddos watch BrainPops, SchoolHouseRocks & play games. Then, they take a Socrative quiz: https://t.co/GSkFchKRyw#5thchat
A1: Our school has just starting using @WritingCityK5 It has been new to all of us, but is full of great tools to help improve the students grammar. The students have shown great improvement #5thchat
The best thing ever! You pull a sentence from a text you are reading. Then on Monday you notice elements of a good writing, Tuesday you notice parts of speech, Wednesday you revise the sentence, and Thursday you imitate the writer's style. #5thchat
A2: Grammar is a tough skill for my babies. Still working on capital letter at the beginning of the sent. They can identify nouns and verbs successfully. #5thchat
A2 Grammar skills my 2nd graders are successful at are capitalization and punctuation. My 5th graders were great at more complex punctuation due to mini -lessons. #5thchat

I've been noticing in some of the other bigger chats folks have been leaving it off. I can't always do a chat live and the A1,A2 helps me skim through more efficiently later on.Thanks for including it! #5thchat
Q4 A great time for students to learn grammar skills is during the writing process. How do you help your students understand the difference between revising and editing? #5thchat
Q5 How do you help your students apply their grammar knowledge to their writing? Do your students have materials that they refer to? Poster hanging up? Etc. #5thchat
Nancy Fetzer uses a lot of graphic organizers that incorporate TPR and she trains all of our teachers K-8, so we build upon what was previously taught. #5thchat
Q6 Great writing is certainly much more than grammatically correct pieces. What has helped your students become successful with their writing? How else do you assess writing? #5thchat
A6 Working with Anchor writing pieces has helped them see good writers in action. At first they mimic the author's style but they then build their own style of writing. #5thchat
Q7 What did you learn from this chat that you plan to use in your classroom? Any last thoughts to share with the group? #5thchathttps://t.co/iA4KVSSspG
