#EduSista, Lindsey, here! Co-Moderator of #EduAR with @bethhill2829 and @nortnik
Excited to be back in the Chat World after our LONG Fall break! But we are back and ready to LEARN!
So excited for the return of #EduAR! I am one of three co-founders of the chat. My EduSistas @nortnik and @Lindsey_Bohler and I came together, did some dreaming, and made it happen! I am so thankful for them!
A1: not enough time to get all that I want to get done, professionally, that I take time from personal life and devote to professional life and goals. #EduAR
A1. My drive to grow as a leader for my staff and students can offset at times personal balance - have to remind myself that “Rome was not built in a day”. #EduAR
A1 SO many things that I take on, the inability to say no to new tasks because I love to learn and keep pushing myself. Fear of not having an answer when someone might need my help #eduAR

A1. Wanting to be better professionally BUT also wanting to spend time with my family! I've lacked on professionally lately due to FAMILY!
*Need some advice*
#EduAR
A1: I love my job, my school, my students. I just have so much that I want to provide for my school & students that I fail to take time for family & self. #EduAR
A1 I have been staying up working each night till way late and cut down on chats the past two weeks, deadlines coming and so I have to do #allthethings :) #eduAR
A1: Trying to be dedicated to both families..my personal family and my school family can be difficult to juggle schedules! #LoveThemLikeTheyAreYourOwn#EDuAR
A1: I tend to have a hard time delegating things out & want to take on everything (partly because I’m a perfectionist & partly because I don’t want to burden others with a task I can do). #EduAR
That is so true. I had a co-worker tell me (just today) that in two years they've never heard me tell them no. It feels good to be that helpful and scary to reflect on at the same time. #EduAR
A1 There will always be pressure moments as a teacher as the plan-teach-assess-report-plan cycle keeps turning. Perhaps more beneficial to think of Work-Life Integration, as our work is part of our life. #EduAR

A2: because our families matter, as does our own physical and emotional health. Balance can lead to better work, as you are able to be rejuvenated & reinvigorated by time with family & friends. #EduAR

Mostly what children in our classes need from us is that we are really there and present for them. We need to fill our own cup up by spending time with our loved ones and hobbies so we can have that present and positive energy for them #EduAr

A1) Sometimes it comes down to establishing what are my real priorities.
I had a friend share with me that we used to use the term #priority in a singular context and over time we stretched it therefore shifting our work life balance. #EduAR
A2: Our mental health is vital, and requires some balance. There must be times where imbalance happens, because life happens! It shouldn't be the norm, but sometimes it is for me. #EduAR
A2: Balance is very important. Some achieve balance on a daily basis, some use weekends, some use winter, spring and summer breaks. With balance, one can reach a healthy "zone" that enables longevity. Unbalanced lives leads to stress and burnout. #EduAR

A2 I’m a better teacher when I’ve taken time to rest and recharge. Also, my family deserves my best too! We don’t get do overs with our own kids. Need to be in the moment with them and live life to the fullest. #EduAR
A2: I ❤️ my job and I never want to get burned-out! My family is the most important thing in my life. They were so supportive when I decided to make teaching my second career! I never want them to feel slighted! #EduAR
A1: 1 word, fear! I’m at a #title1 school & am trying to turn around the entire the culture & achievement level. I want more than ever for the achievement to mirror the effort of my team. So sometimes I struggle turning it off & respecting family time. #EduAR

A2 "for a person to transform their life, requires a passionate commitment to something" That requires a plan. See my article at https://t.co/BewLzolEgr#EduAR

A3. Perfect world - work hard when you are at school but able to unplug every day when you leave. Quality time with family is hard to currently find. #EduAR
A2: We need time to recharge and take care of our physical and emotional needs. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we may not be much good to others! #EduAR
Whoa...this is a tough one! Who created these questions, anyway! They are making me uncomfortable! Ha!!!!
Guess what...I need to be uncomfortable in order to grow. #EduAR
Balance is a key element in the work we do as educators. Utilizing mindfulness helps us become aware of the disequilibrium within ourselves. Balancing out our lives allows us to be more present, patient & serene. #EduAR#mindfulness#educators#balance
A3: Ideally, if I could leave school at the end of each day with everything wrapped up & ready for the next day, I’d feel more balanced, especially on the weekends!! #EduAR
A4 A nap as many days as I can sneak a 20 minute power up, and time with family and friends, and talking with #my53s and #4OCFPLN is a definite help #eduAR

A2: I have 3 kids & a husband whom deserve to have a mom that that is present & pleasant. I’ve caught myself being snappy and knew that I needed a mental break, so we’ve since implemented a “no phone zone” time frame in the evenings- they aren’t getting any younger. #EduAR
At the end of the day, I write a thank you note to someone. Whoever comes to mind. That activity reminds me that it’s people, not things, that deserve our best selves. Our balanced selves. #eduAR
A4 My day ends of an evening with prayer and meditation. Initially reviewing my day, reflecting on what I achieved and what could have been done differently. That feeds my meditation. That gives focus for the next day even the week. #EduAR

A4b: I also have a long commute out to my home in "the sticks." This drive helps me decompress and out-process any stress from the day, and also helps me get mentally prepared for the school day. #EduAR

A4 When I’m too exhausted to take a walk with my husband in the evening I know life is way out of whack. It’s not just a physical tired. Our kids have so many needs today that’s it’s a total emotional, spiritual drain. #EduAR
Q5: I will be spending the first 1/2 with family, then retreating into the desert solitude (off the grid) of Terlingua, TX with my 3 dogs. I will leave all school stuff in my classroom. #EduAR

A4b Quiet time with the Lord is also a must for me. When I get out in front of Him I always lose my way. Only He can keep my cup full and my flame burning. I am nothing without Him. #EduAR
A5 Discern what is it that prevents change and purpose and address it in bite size chunks that allows you to achieve incrementally. See my article on organizational & personal renewal at: https://t.co/TZzoYiXVSY#EduAR cc @careersingov

A5: Looking forward to spending time w/ family & being fully present!Putting school stuff aside for the break & focusing on doing things that make me happy! Also, catching up on some much needed rest! Ready to start 2019 rejuvenated physically, mentally, & emotionally! #EduAR
A5 I’m going to leave the planning and paperwork at school next Wednesday. It will be there in January, and I will be sharper and more fresh then. #EduAR

A5b But gosh, the kids will be so close in my heart. How do we keep from worrying about the ones we know will be hungry, sad, possibly in danger? That’s the tough part for me. I will miss them so. #EduAR

A4: So my go to activity is yoga or movies, but the thing that really helps me get balance is a mini getaway. I have an annual cabin trip where I shut down my schedule, play games laugh, read, & relax. I’m reminded that I can’t inspire life if I don’t live it. #EduAR
