By finding ways to connect us and our interests. I tend to comment on or reference things I like with Ss as I do not have my own classroom (yet!). I find being myself and sharing with Ss helps us find common ground. I incorporate this into learning as often as I can.

A2: I always ask myself "Why am I giving them this assignment?" If I can't think of a good reason, then it's busy work and I throw it out the window. I openly share w/ Ss why I have them do what I do. If it's not purposeful, then it's a waste of time for them and me. #122edchat
A1. @sylviaduckworth created this terrific graphic of 10 ways to maintain your passion for teaching. I wonder which one of them best connects with you? #122edchat
This has to be first authentic/organic-and can go into overdrive when an organization prioritizes a mechanism to capture pieces of each other in the process and product #122edchat
A2: I create an environment of curiosity. My students are passionate about wanting to know more and explore their curiosities. This creates the core of their purpose and WHY. #122edchat

We use learning that has a point. In earth science, we are learning about doppler effect as a tool to find other planets. I remind my environmental students that they will need to vote on Env. Issues one day. Best to know about them.#122edchat
A2 remaining intentional and relevant are two things I hugely focus on. Without that intentionality we spin our wheels and waste time that we already don’t have. #122edchat
Julia, this is so essential! I had a moment yesterday when I came face to face with the fact that an idea I was sharing with the group may not have been what they were passionate about. Needed to step back and try something different. #122edchat
A1. Building relationships is so important in finding what those passions are and then finding ways to incorporate those in lessons or your classroom environment! #122edchat

#122edchat A2: Ask the students to connect the material to their lives or the world around them. Have them reflect on ways to utilize the material in real world ways and then give them the space to do it.
A2 I learn to find new ways to teach and support my students. Whether it’s from content area to technology, sharing is caring. Learning what’s out there is cool too. #122edchat
A1: I start my first day with the circle time, and have every student share their passions. We need to be mindful of what our students are responding to during our daily interactions with them and provide opportunities that allow for the growth of their passions #122edchat
A1 By communicating and showing interest. I have students complete surveys that share some information about them. This allows me a bit of insight, but it’s always nice to y’all to them and ask questions and then listen to answers. #122edchat
A2: Make learning relevant to the students. History class should be more than just memorizing the dates of important events. It should build critical thinking, empathy, and communication skills in addition to content knowledge! #122edchat

A2: Conecting purpose can be difficult at times. Right now with 4th and 5th graders I'm going back to teach phonics in different way so they understand not just know. I'm telling them that as they get to harder words this learning will make a difference. #122edchat
A2: Goals are based on real needs, and the end result will add value and allow the person to grow. It also ties in to the learning in classrooms. #122edchat

A2 I think how do I get these kids to see they matter & ARE capable of doing more than they believe.
Having my daughter in two of my classes keeps me on point. Can't have her grow up and say she was okay. #122edchat
A3 - We are never fully aware of our student’s home situation. Therefore let’s not make our students feel uncomfortable or unsafe in our lessons. #122edchat#edchat
A3 Heart and kindness are how we connect with our students and what they take with them from year to year. Why not teach from the heart and model how our students can influence society when they get older? #122edchat
A2 The Students are pretty involved in our learning through SDG’s and Social Justice. Learning through that lense has made them more passionate about sharing their opinions in writing, through #GridPals and @SkypeClassroom#122edchat
A3: Without heart and kindness with and within a student that is learning, there is no passion or drive to learn. Learning with heart is Genuine learning. #122edchat
A1b The important thing for me is that students know that I care about them and that I am a learner like they are. If I want them to take risks and believe in me, I want to show them that I am all in. It is important to be role models for our students. #122edchat
#122edchat A2 When your Ss KNOW that you love your job, AND you are POSITIVE daily, your classroom will take on purpose in your Ss lives. Your job will create joy. You will inspire your Ss. This is the cycle of joy in my life.
A3: Love is what makes the world go 'round. Even the most difficult Ss, desire to be loved, cared for, appreciated, and heard. Kindness costs nothing, but has the power to change everything in an instant, if we lead with our heart. #122edchat
A3: Without heart and kindness, what's the point? We are teaching learners—human beings—not content nor units. It's an important distinction to remember. #122edchathttps://t.co/OxP7HmxcKR
A2: As a student, growing up it was easy for me to see when a teacher truly cared. I believe if you want to add purpose to learning, do not teach for an exam. Perspective, voice, and connection. #122edchat
A3. Teachers who teach kindness report fewer office referrals, more respect between students, and a more positive school and classroom culture. #122edchat
A1 We talk all the time! We share each morning in our circle, sometimes to specific questions or their highlights. I've collected their DNA (lrnd on Twitter) & thrilled to be typing them up to display for parents next week. Just yesterday, they all shared their dream! #122edchat
A3: Heart and kindness are fundamental to what makes any relationships powerful. Trust in this scenario = fuel to elevate the amazingness of all around!
#122edchat
The sad truth is we might be the only positive adult role model in our student's lives. We have to use that gift wisely. The students who test you the most are the ones that need the most empathy and compassionate guidance from you.
#122edchat
A2: We start each lesson by identifying what the target is. We discuss what the Ss will be learning, why it’s important, & how they will know that they’ve learned it. It gives my Ss purpose in the task! I want them to be in control of the thinking & producing! #122edchat
A2- Great question, I always try and show relevance in today’s world. (This might be easier for me as I teach philosophy and religion) #122edchat#edchat
A3: Intelligence without kindness leads to pain and poor decisions. You have to have a balance of heart and head. We have to foster the heart in our students, too. #122edchat
A3 Heart and kindness should be present in every school and classroom. We may be the only positive influence a child sees daily so seize every moment! #122edchat
A3: in a world where adults try to find the negative in everything people say or do or post on social media we need to show students it is important to showcase the good. #122edchat
A3: A quote that has always impacted me as a teacher is “they don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Relationships before standards. . . Connections before corrections. #122edchat
A3 Heart and kindness should be present in every school and classroom. We may be the only positive influence a child sees daily so seize every moment! #122edchat
A3: All you need is “ganas”. The great Jaime Escalante said that. When you teach with passion and from the heart, you never know how far your students will go. #122edchat
A3- the heart doesn’t lie. Ever. Research/data bends, curriculum is an arrow dependent on aim, but love is an infinite wellspring of motivation, compassion, and intelligent teaching. #122edchat
A1 In my future teaching I hope to be able to share my passions for sport, and music. Are these things that can be neatly woven into lesson plans ? #122edchat
A2 I’m supporting the integration of the #SDGs into my ELA & SS curriculum to give real purpose to learning. So far so good too! I’m hittin’ standards but helping kids think beyond school to the world and how a bunch of 11 year olds can make local and global impacts. #122edchat
Because they are children. At the end of the day they need love. I can always catch them up on materials we miss - I NEVER want them to think they aren’t cared for and loved. It also teaches them to focus on the same good people > smart people #122edchat
A3 Because we all need to help Ss develop #SEL skills and become better at collaboration, respecting different backgrounds, perspectives, we add to our climate and build our learning community #122edchat
A3 So important to show that us as educators have a heart too just like kids, show that we can too play with them and laugh. It makes it so much more welcoming and feels more like a family home. #122edchat
A2 I try to make as many connections as I can to real life and make it relevant to them. I'm hoping to one day connect with businesses so they see the bigger picture even better. #122edchat
A3 Because without heart you’ve got nothing. Just like with your body, life can’t sustain without it. If kids don’t know you care then they don’t care what you’re trying to teach. #122edchat
A3 Heart and kindness need to be part of the culture & lifestyle we share with our students; it is not a curriculum. Being a compassionate/empathetic learner & person should be part of every classroom, it is how be build a community of learners. A group effort. #122edchat

A3 #122edchat If you lead with your heart and be open and real, students will follow. They gravitate towards someone they look up to and care about because you care about THEM!! Be the “constant” in their life!
#122edchat A3 The Tr / St releationship is they keystone to learning in your room. Make your 1st rule ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! LOVE your Ss. Learning will become INTRINSIC! This is my flowchart for teaching success.
A1b learn through various means and use what I learn in the classroom, giving credit where credit's due. I tell Ss I learned this new thing from... For staff, I share out in PLCs or other PD #122edchat
Q4: There are always excuses for not including passion or heart in our teaching/learning. How can we put all those excuses to rest and focus on what is important? #122edchat
A3~Teaches acceptance, empathy, forgiveness, humanness, models the ups & downs in life w/a bit of humor ( or a lot in our classroom) & teaches to look at others with an open mind & ❤️~w/❤️& kindness many problems can be solved by coming together for the good of all #122edchat
If we don't teach it but react, we lose valuable relationship building time. We lose the opportunity to know another person: their successes, their struggles. Take the time. #122edchat
A3. Teachers who teach kindness report fewer office referrals, more respect between students, and a more positive school and classroom culture. #122edchat
A1 Post and display as many positives as you can! Celebrate the wins! I badge teachers and hang them outside of their classrooms just like I would hang student work in the hall Share good news in newsletters blogs and on social media create a special school hashtag #122edchat
Had an example of this last week at school. Saw a student that was acting "off". He emailed me about his home situation and it broke my heart. Extra grace extended. #122edchat
A2 So much of our lrng is centered on "So what? Now what?"
When we're lrng, we're continually pointing back to the purpose of knowing this info - and eventually learning to the big idea of "Now, how will it change us?" #122edchat
A2 - Show your students that learning isn’t purely for examinations sake. Learning for the sake of learning, and the enjoyment of discovering. #122edchat#edchat
A3: These students are kids, kindness fills the soul. They should be heard, and cared for as well as taught. Often times people forget students are humans growing up with certain conflicts, kindness can change everything #122edchat
A3b - Education at its core goes far beyond just facts and tests. Students must feel personally connected to the class and their teacher. This is universal for all humans. As adults, we feel the same way when we love our school and job. #122edchat
A4: Every person in our classrooms has a story - whether we know that story or not, whether it's a happy or sad one, it's theirs - and that is more important than any content ever could be. Listen to their story. Tell them yours. #122edchat
A4 Time seems to be a big "acceptable" excuse lately. We need to know that if it is important, if being a caring learner & person is a priority, we need to put that at the forefront. We need to value the most important learning. Content comes after. #122edchat
A3 We don't like working in hostile environments and children don't like it either. Authenticity is felt by them. They deserve it from us. They deserve to feel loved, safe, and cared for. #122edchat
A4: You need to surround yourself with people that are passionate, authentic, caring and will hold you accountable. This helps to ensure that there aren't any excuses. #122edchat
A2: its all about reality. They know we will sing in the halls, when we are scared, when we are excited. We are authentic- we know musicals are real because it’s okay to burst into song 💕🎶😊💕🎶😊 #122edchat
A2 give purpose to lessons in the classroom by giving it real life purpose to the Ss and whatever their circumstances are or could lead to, not my real life purpose #122edchat
You just gave the perfect example of kindness in sharing my tweet which is the fourth step in the graphic. You're just so very thoughtful and KIND! #122edchat
If we don't teach it but react, we lose valuable relationship building time. We lose the opportunity to know another person: their successes, their struggles. Take the time. #122edchat
A3. Teachers who teach kindness report fewer office referrals, more respect between students, and a more positive school and classroom culture. #122edchat
Sadly, in the culture of education these days, I think many of us have reversed the order in hopes of improving scores on standardized tests. #122edchat
A3: If you want your Ss to do amazing things they must take risks. For Ss to take risks, they have to be able to crash in a safe environment with people who will help pick them up #122edchat
A3 Well why wouldn’t we all love what we teach & hope the kids love what they learn too? Why teach if you don’t have a heart & infuse kindness into what you do & what you expect from others? FYI - I’m kind in a sassy super joking way btw. I don’t do sappy sweet w/ kids #122edchat
A3 Because the whole reason we got in this was to show kids they matter and to build a better future. We can never forget that. We must remember our why #122edchat
A4: I often reflect on my own education and how disconnected I felt. Also, I hear from my own children about how dissatisfied they are with school. I think, "There has to be a better way of doing this." At some point, something has to change. I want to see it happen. #122edchat
A4: I know I mentioned it earlier, but it really makes a world of difference. We focus on our North Star: the kids. Including passion and heart is what's best for kids. #122edchathttps://t.co/u4aSQQEJz5
A3: we have to show our Ts and Ss that we care. They don’t care until they know we care. We have to show our vulnerabilities and let our passions and kindness drive our instruction. #122edchat
Remember why you started teaching and find a way to ignite that passion in yourself everyday. Whether it is a poster, photo, quote or project; find the inspiration and never let it go!
#122edchat
A4 Time seems to be a big "acceptable" excuse lately. We need to know that if it is important, if being a caring learner & person is a priority, we need to put that at the forefront. We need to value the most important learning. Content comes after. #122edchat
My book is in the final book cover design. Once it is approved it will be a matter of weeks until it hits the stores! Very exciting now for me. A senior journalism student at my school is doing a documentary over my life. I will get interviewed next week. #122edchat
A3 Not only are we tchg mathematicians, rdrs & wrtrs; but, we're also building citizens & family members. Kids need to know that kindness matters. Just yesterday, I sent 2 emails to fams sharing how their daughters' integrity taught our K. Parents were all thrilled! #122edchat
A2 Don't do work just for the sake of doing it If your students make science projects display them and invite other classes to come in and see the final products If your art students create beautiful pieces invite parents to a gallery walk Make the lessons count! #122edchat
A4: We have to make it our daily habit to be always intentional in our work. We need to assure ourselves that we are In The Moment and Present when we are doing the work we love. #122edchat
Haters gonna hate. I fell in love with these chats and my PLN because it seems like everyone emanates with passion here. When I tell someone in my district that I plan on having Harry Potter houses for my class, they eye roll or think its cute. #122edchat
A4 - Sorry got my rather blunt response. We are in a profession where kids/teens need our best each day. Having a passion for teaching and learning starts with us. If not us, then who? #122edchat
A2: We regularly talk about how what we’re learning in class is helping us to grow into better readers, writers, and thinkers... (and occasionally mention that by learning _____ we will be ready for next year!) #122EdChat
A4 #122EdChat As @brewerhm says, you’re either all in for kids or your not. What do you want your legacy to be? Your passion is the key that makes learning happen. Kids can always see that. #flhornets
Q4: There are always excuses for not including passion or heart in our teaching/learning. How can we put all those excuses to rest and focus on what is important? #122edchat
A4 Pretend your own child is in your class and think would they thrive. Would they adore learning? If not then try again. We must reflect daily. #122edchat
I fail all the time so I get back up and do better.
Q4: There are always excuses for not including passion or heart in our teaching/learning. How can we put all those excuses to rest and focus on what is important? #122edchat
A4. Go ahead and don't take time to build relationships ....
You'll spend the rest of the year spinning your wheels trying to get the "buy-in" that you're missing. #122edchat
We have worked so hard to create a family focus over the years. We celebrate together, cry together, support one another through the tough times &/or hardships, & work together to support S any & every way we can. Heart & kindness is just what we do. #122edchat
A4: Every person in our classrooms has a story - whether we know that story or not, whether it's a happy or sad one, it's theirs - and that is more important than any content ever could be. Listen to their story. Tell them yours. #122edchat
A4- this is a tough one. Looking at ourselves we know that excuses are a limiting factor. They pull us away from what we know is hard work but also awesome and needed. We get out what we put in. There is a morality that needs to be in play #122edchat
A4 - We always struggle with motivation sometimes. But we need to remember WHY we came into teaching to begin with. Do not let the other stuff get in the way #122edchat#edchat
A4: Read, reread, and read again the Passion chapter of #tlap - problem solved. Then... if there are haters... buy them a copy of the book and have them read it. hehe! #122edchat
A4: when all is said and done, I want to be able to say, "I helped my s's become better people." Students everywhere need someone to say, yes you can! #122edchat
A4: It's all about giving up control! And don't we teachers often struggle with this? In part, I know it's because we worry about other people's perceptions. Will the class get to rowdy? Will an admin walk in and see what looks like chaos? Can I spare the time?
#122edchat
A4 - Sorry got my rather blunt response. We are in a profession where kids/teens need our best each day. Having a passion for teaching and learning starts with us. If not us, then who? #122edchat
A3: in the light of recent tragedies that have taken place in many schools, the need to bring kindness, empathy and understanding inall content areas is more important than ever. We can't overlook the importance of deliberately teaching kindness to our students #122edchat
A4 Truly taking time to ask yourself "is this really worth it for the best of the Ss"? If not, try something new. Dont stay in the same place. Be creative, be open-minded. Believe in chances, creativity, in YOU most importantly. Just do it! #122edchat
A4 I do lots of self talk when I feel burned out. I have passionless days but honestly, the kids do perk me right up. I can always count on kids to show me where the heart and passion is when I misplace it. #122edchat
We need to take the time to invest in relationships. I wish I could read every single response in 30 minutes; just trying to listen to the amazingness in this learning. #122edchat
A4b - For those who have children, we would only want that same passionate, caring teacher for our kids. We must be that teacher for others. #122edchat
A4: Maintain a growth mindset and focus on being solution oriented and working towards the goal even if you’re taking a different path than originally anticipated #122edchat
Q4: There are always excuses for not including passion or heart in our teaching/learning. How can we put all those excuses to rest and focus on what is important? #122edchat
A4: Take an inventory of what can and can’t go. The stuff that has no real positive impact can likely be lost without much fuss. Makes for more passion and focus. #122EdChat
Q4: There are always excuses for not including passion or heart in our teaching/learning. How can we put all those excuses to rest and focus on what is important? #122edchat
A4 time is scarce sometimes, we meet bumps in the road, but if we give ourselves A daily reminder of our purpose, knowing our WHY, and for me, starting the day by connecting w/Ss, conversations, lightens the mood and reignites the passion for teaching :) #122edchat
A3 I want Ss to be kind & compassionate individuals, so this must be a part of who I am in order to model. Additionally, Ss can typically pick up on inauthenticity eventually #122edchat
A4: Everyone on the team should hold each other accountable. Build trust and strong relationships. Work with each other and not against. Always refer to your why and the team why when challenges arrive to get everyone back to the same page. Promote kindness and love. #122edchat
A4~
❤️lead with integrity at all times
❤️collaborate ~no more sis
❤️only accept gooodness &kindness in return
❤️ignore the naysayers ~ yes those negative peeps ~ they only pull you away from all that is good & kind in this 🌎
❤️Spread your sunshine 24/7
#122edchat
A3: I love this question. Without heart what is there to love. With out mind, what is there to think? Without both, who would care about love? Who would teach our ss to love? How would they learn our passions? How would we share our subjects? 💕Always have heart #122edchat
#122edchat by making it relevant, intriguing, vibrant and engaging learners in constructing meaning. It's not about imparting information, but instead, bringing to life the spirit of content, and education, to each student. #allkidscanlearn
A4 Focus on why you do what you do and what makes your heart drive your decisions. It’s our students. Find & own your passions; do what’s best for students. #122edchat
A4: When we bring passion & heart into our classroom, the learning takes off & can transform things!! No more excuses... make it a priority! #122edchat
Hey houses was something I did for years!!! I did house cheers on Fridays. It works. I even talk about it in Ron Clark's Book End of Molasses Classes. Do it!!!!
Be You

Haters gonna hate. I fell in love with these chats and my PLN because it seems like everyone emanates with passion here. When I tell someone in my district that I plan on having Harry Potter houses for my class, they eye roll or think its cute. #122edchat
A3. I feel that heart and kindness are things that are greatly lacking in today's society. Can these things be taught through lessons from history ? or is this more of an ethics based class ? #122edchat
#122edchat A4 My goal as a Tr is for my Ss to describe my actions and words with the Fruits of the Spirit. WALK THE TALK and be a role model of these attributes. This takes A LOT of quite time and reflection and PATIENCE! If you succeed, your classroom will be AMAZING
A4b- as a building leader, this question is intense. Self reflection is one thing, helping others reflect is another. I think building a culture around grit and shared vision is essential #122edchat
A4: Push the excuses aside. Go back to your intention. Remember why you became a teacher. We tend to blame the kids when we're frustrated, but in actuality, it's usually other things beyond ours or the kids' control that is the root of our frustration. #122edchat
A5 This week I am being more purposeful on teaching & including empathy. We have started our culminating learning projects which are all about making a difference. Every day, a reflection, a thought, a lesson in empathy & kindness. I am leading a movement, it is key. #122edchat
A4: I don’t think of it as what I COULD do but what I SHOULD do as an educator. Heart comes first - above all else - the way to put excuses to rest is to show the power it has. Lead by example - show love. ❤️ #122edchat
A4: You need balance in your life in order to enjoy what you’re doing and not lose focus. I always tell my staff to take care of themselves so that in return they can take care of what’s important: our students. This is how I relax in the Texas hill country. #122edchat
A4: Today's kids are tomorrow's leaders. If we don't teach them kindness, and nobody else does either, we run the risk of an unempathetic, painful future. There have been many intelligent people who have wrecked havoc on our world. We have the keys to stop this path. #122edchat
A5: Each day I hope to connect with at least one person and make their day better in some way. Small acts of kindness and support can go a long way.
#122edchat
A5: My passion and purpose are always with me as soon as I am with the kids. They bring out the best in me. I will share the love of learning with them and allow the contagious nature to do its thing. #122edchat
A5: I will do all that I can to let students and colleagues know that I SEE them—that they matter. I will ask how they are doing. I will LISTEN to their answers. I will follow-up later because I genuinely care. I will build relationships. #122edchat
Special thanks to our good friend, @NowakRo for leading the #122edchat discussion this evening! Take what you learned tonight, and put it into action tomorrow. Next week, get ready to go back to 2017 for a reboot of #moreedu with guest hosts, @StantonAlana and @eduminimalist :)
My friend and I were just having the discussion about passion for teaching - What happens if you don't get into teaching for the right reason? Lots of teachers don't have the passion or lose their passion and they get trapped in the system of tenure, benefits, and pay. #122edchat
A4 It's the 💜of our teaching that keeps us going thru the tough times!
Keep the big picture the big picture.
Continually emphasize to families their amazing growth as readers, wrtrs, learners & keep pushing the things that make us better people.
#122edchat
A4: nothing is worth doing without passion. Students are worth teaching because they are our passion. 2nd is our passion for what we teach them #122edchat
A3: The heartbeat of genuine relationship/kindness between me and my Ss is what gives our learning experience depth... it’s what brings us back day after day regardless of the challenges ahead... it’s what fuels our celebrations when BIG goals are achieved together! #122EdChat
A5 - Tutoring a student today who lacks the motivation to do independent study. I’m going to show him the joy of learning and sharing our opinions #122edchat#edchat
A5: My passion and purpose are always with me as soon as I am with the kids. They bring out the best in me. I will share the love of learning with them and allow the contagious nature to do its thing. #122edchat
A5 My kids describe me as happy all the time. That is just me doing what I love to do. They want to be in my room just like they want to be in gym. Well, most of the time. This is my passion paying off. #122edchat
A3 When heart and kindness are present, it allows learners to feel safe. I think this is a prerequisite to all learning. Including this in all content areas is a must. #122edchat
And if it is... someone needs to be finding a new "job"... just saying. My work is not a job for me, it's my heart and soul. Don't believe me? Put me with Ss and see what happens - my entire face lights up. #122edchat
A3: The heartbeat of genuine relationship/kindness between me and my Ss is what gives our learning experience depth... it’s what brings us back day after day regardless of the challenges ahead... it’s what fuels our celebrations when BIG goals are achieved together! #122EdChat
A5: I will believe in students that have never been believed in... I will be a champion for students that have been given up on... I will show them what hope feels like.
When I started out I observed a Kindergarten teacher - soft spoken, sweet, loving... totally genuine...I was like, "Um, I am a loud goofball!" It took me a few years to find my style of kindness and be okay with it. #122edchat
A5: this week I am working on showing my Ts that I am empathetic to them and understand where they are coming from. First evals were done last week, and feedback was given this week during convos. I need to continue to build trust with my Ts and show I care. #122edchat
A5 - I do a weekly/bi-weekly video on how we can make our class amazing. This weeks focus is:
Bringing your smile and questions to every class. Sharing what you’ve done to help others. Never being afraid to take risks. #122edchat

A5: George, coming from Japan and jumping in late. I will make an effort to talk with each of my students about something other than school this week. #122edchat
Exactly that, and the system often rewards those with ‘time served’ or experience. Interesting topic.
How do we remind of their past passions? #122edchat
A5: Through a commitment to follow through on everything I’ve been working on this week remembering that the end result is so worth the steps to get there. #122edchat
A5 This week I am being more purposeful on teaching & including empathy. We have started our culminating learning projects which are all about making a difference. Every day, a reflection, a thought, a lesson in empathy & kindness. I am leading a movement, it is key. #122edchat
A5 tomorrow I'm leading PLCs for teachers on purposeful planning for Ss in terms of equitable teaching and access to learning for all students #122edchat
I will shine my light on Ss encouraging them to show grit in the tough times and zest for new learning. I will share my passion through interactive student engagement projects and create even better ones for the future.
#122edchat
Thanks @NowakRo for a great chat! It’s been a while but glad to be jumping back in. Always great to be in your chats! Have a great end to the week everyone! #122edchat
What an honor to be in the same tweet! Appreciate you being here to share in the learning! You are a bright light in the world of education! #122edchat
Pat, I salute you on this! It's so easy to get sacked by our own schedules and miss an opportunity to have authentic impact. Going to put this into practice tomorrow. #122edchat
A5 I teach and live in a way that I hope my passion is never questioned. I will continue to build my Ss up, make connections with them, their families, and my coworkers. I'd jump on my soapbox, but I think you know where I'm going Lol #122edchat
Agreed. We just had a fun day of showing compassion for each other (to honor a student who passed) where we all made extra efforts to simply be nice - to say hell - to make a friend and be a friend to others. #122edchat
A3 part 2: If I don’t model heart & kindness, how can I expect staff to do so? When those tough situations arise, it hurts my heart so much because the staff & Ss are so important to me; they are just like family to me. #122edchat
#122edchat A5 I wrote this WAY BACK in the early 1990's. #truth Your Ss will KNOW Trs who LOVE their job and those that are there for a paycheck. Your inspiration to your Ss will have profound impacts on the future. #AlwaysBelieve
A5: Yesterday & today I met with each GL for our LA planning. I shared various ideas to implement with their Ss that will help ALL Ss be successful. I want to make a difference in the lives of Ts & Ss in my school & I hope they know how passionate I am about that #122edchat
A5: There are some needy families that are in need of support. I will encourage some of my colleagues to assist in any way they can to make a difference. That is my goal for this week. #122edchat
A5: I already shared some #kindtreats with my team this week & I have a trip to the post office planned on Friday to ship off some #kindnesspackages to my #PLN!! I 💙 doing small things to help bring a smile to others!! #122edchat
A5~
~I will love my Ss unconditionally
~Guide them to make great choices w/words,action steps that praise, support &encourage them
~ embrace their diversity

#122edchat
A5. I will be writing positive notes for my students to remind them of how AWESOME I think they are! :) Also, hoping my positivity is contagious. #122edchat
A5 Not quit in myself. Show others that we all too have struggles but that dont mean we should stop. We must continue to keep getting better. That's the only way we will learn more effective. #122edchat
A deep and controversial topic about the public school system indeed. Folks who work with others especially children, should not feel trapped and should certainly not be teaching without a passion for doing so. #122edchat
A4. You need to put aside excuses, connect with the Ss. Build relationships. Show them you care, teach them kindness, empathy, and support them and encourage them along the way! #122edchat
A4. I think that taking a step back , realizing what an important role we have in students lives. We all remember that teacher that made us feel like we could achieve anything!! #122edchat
Hi everyone! I'm Tonya from Richmond, VA. I teacher PreK-5 Spanish and work with student leaders. Thanks to the moderators for tweeting this chat from #122edchat! Wouldn't have known of it otherwise.
#fearlessedchat
Andrew I wrote this for the me three years ago. This is why I got on Twitter. I then wrote this for a dear friend this year. Please read it friend #122edchathttps://t.co/TRkbMXCmWe
Its my first year with it, but I'm making it mine and going slow. Every week top house gets an enchanted item. This week is the wand of rememberance which can reveal the answer to any question for the class, but it can only be used twice.
A5: I will continue to connect with students & staff this week, write out at least 5 positive notes, and be present and intentional with staff & students. #122edchat
A.5 I think by projecting a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to all students. Maybe offer some extra encouragement to a student I know is struggling.#122edchat
A5 In the wise words of Nike (controversial Colin K aside), just do it! Heart, passion, interest are contagious. As a student I had teachers who hated their jobs…. Kids aren’t stupid, nor blind. Nothing is more engaging & endearingly dorky than a teacher with passion #122edchat
Awesome!! It is something seemingly simple, but so extremely important. Being "that person" who cares, unconditionally, in the success of students. #educatorsrock#YesWeCan#BeTheChange#122edchat
A5: I have been meaning to do something kind for a couple of colleagues who are going through some tough times. I think I'm going to try to get it done within These two weeks. Thank you for always encouraging to lead with the heart! #122edchat

Thank you. I never had the honor of having him in my class, but he impacted our district.... we have Luc Bodden day to honor his spirit. I wish I could say that I haven't lost any students though. #122edchat
A5 Steering our water inquiry into realizing the need for all Ss to have clean water. Hard concept for little Ss. We'll def show an old movie created by a former class who changed a schl in Nicaragua. Can't wait to see what these kids will do! #122edchathttps://t.co/Xnj88l3YZe
A2: purpose in learning should be the driving force of our instruction. In the end our purpose should be clear for our students so that they understand what outcome they are progressing towards.
#122edchat
Cool! One of our driving questions in social studies is "How does water impact the development of civilization?" Water issues - access to, availability of, commoditization of - is a huge issue in history and here in Southern California. #122edchat
A1: everyone has a story but you have to take the time to listen. Too often we are so worried about our own story we fail to take the time to learn about others. Take the time to learn about others is the foundation of strong relationships.
#122edchat
Just this wk, our Ss have seen floods throughout our state. Water issues in very different ways. It's so sad when our Ss realize the lack of fresh water for all. They're literally horrified. Can't wrap their minds around it. It's driven us to focus on it for yrs now! #122edchat
