A1 Kindness is filled with love, empathy, compassion care. They are uplifting & encouraging words. They are the time we take to listen. They are the notes we send each other, the smiles we share. Kindness is how we treat each other daily, how we celebrate each other. #eduAR
A1 Kindness looks like a smile, feels like home and sounds like "I'm glad you're here." Tone, body language and words tell Ss they are are welcome and you care about them. #eduAR
A1: Kindness to me is caring and never being afraid of showing appreciation. I send positive emails home to parents, and I reach out to students who are going through difficult times. It is so important to connect with that ONE kid who has a lot going on. #eduar
A1: #Kindness needs to be a verb, an action, a skillset. We take #empathy and embrace it until it becomes #compassion. Once mobilized, compassion morphs into a behavior, an action, a habit. It looks, sounds, and feels caring, respectful, grateful, loving. #eduAR
A1: #kindness looks like this (look at those SMILES!). It warms your heart whether you are giving or receiving. It gives you hope for the world. It sounds like compliments, words of affirmation, vulnerability and love. #eduAR
A1: Kindness is found in the kind message of a friend, or the smile of a stranger. It wraps your spirit with peace and reminds you of the good in the world. Kindness reminds us what it feels like to be loved and whole. #eduar

A2: “Culture of Kindness” is part of your being!! It’s not a one & done act! It’s a way of life! It’s the daily approach to think outwardly w/ a mission to spread kindness to others!! It’s an intentional focus to uplift, love, & support! #EduAR
A2 A culture of kindness is when we all learn, teach and lead with the heart. When as a community, we are there to uplift each other, to be better, to take care of others. Taking care of the heart before content. Kindness is about having impact and inspiring others. #eduAR
A culture of kindnes begins with modeling kindness but also requires labeling kindness for students, actively teaching them what it means to be kind. In my school, we participate in the Positivity Project and kindness is a huge focus. #eduAR
A1: I want to say like Snow White with the talking little birds haha but I hope it looks like a classroom with kids laughing, maybe some reading. #eduAR
A2: A culture of kindness is when being kind to each other becomes second nature, a natural way of coexisting, a reflex, something that looks effortless and yet very intentional.
#eduar
A2 A culture of kindness is a place where joy, love, encouragement, grace, and forgiveness all reside together. A place where everyone feels valued and seen. #EduAR
A2: A culture of kindness is when we all work together to promote kindness. We teach from the heart and care about the individuals in front of us on a daily basis who genuinely have so much to offer. #eduar
A2: A culture of #kindness is an environment where #kindness isn’t an afterthought or something that’s “hard” to do. A culture of kindness is not just one act. It is a lifestyle, a mindset and way of operating. I wrote about it here https://t.co/dFtGgnEGzC#eduAR
Thanks, Lindsey. A2: I think that a culture of caring is something you can feel when you walk into a building. It's that warmth that makes you want to pull up a chair and stay. Forever. It's feeling like you belong, like you matter. It's amazingly comfortable. #eduAR
A2 A culture of kindness is when there is more than one, a community, who live & express kindness as part of their lifestyle, it’s the ‘norm’ . It can be a way of life than grows & spreads #eduAR
A2 A culture of kindness is a place where joy, love, encouragement, grace, and forgiveness all reside together. A place where everyone feels valued and seen. #EduAR
A3: We must be unconditionally kind. Yesterday I was not, today it still causes me to ponder how I could have done things differently. We must always be better. #eduAR
A3 We need to lead the walk. It starts with us. Let us model kindness. Show kind words, celebrate and uplift, invest time, be there for others. Encourage our kids/staff to spread kindness. Be there for others. Encourage making a difference. Help make it happen. No excuses. #eduAR
A3 It starts with the adults. Do you say hello and smile when you pass people in the hall? Do you give children genuine eye contact and smile when you see them? Are you kind to those who may challenge you? Do you presume positive intentions in every interaction? #eduAR
A3: Make kindness palpable. After #HurricaneHarvey hit, we got so many comfort cards from ALL over the map, so as I gave them out to the children, I posted the return-address labels on this map so everyone could see where our #kindness came from. Together we're better! #eduAR
A3: You need to be strong and promote kindness when kindness is not what your strongest emotions are telling you... and correct others when you have the chance to #eduar
To promote kindness you have to be kindness, live kindness, spread kindness. Don’t give up. It’s in the giving. Show kindness to students & staff alike #eduAR
A3: I believe that we need to teach kindness, just like we teach the academics. With more and more Ss coming to us from trauma backgrounds, it's even more important. There are so many children out there that don't even understand what kindness looks like! #eduAR

A3: I try my best to be kind always. I hope I am perceived as being a kind hearted teacher. I genuinely care about my students and try to work as hard as I can for them. I also try to say hi to everyone I see in the hallway and send encouraging emails to colleagues. #eduar
A1: Kindness looks like seeing the individual inside of the group, and letting it be known you see and hear them. What is felt is the empowerment that spreads kindness. #eduAR

A3: Realize that some Ss in our schools are not used to an adult being kind to them; make kindness a regular part of the school day; in the hallways...even a smile or nod of recognition can make someone’s day #eduar
Boom. I try to live by the mantra "What You Permit, You Promote." We must CAREfront others when we see them being unkind. It's tricky and we're called to do it respectfully, but it's important if we are to walk the talk #eduAR
So true! Kindness is not a “natural skill” for some - it sometimes takes intentional instruction for Ss to become aware of their actions and their impact on others! #eduar

A3: We promote it in our PAWS positive referrals with our students. Practice Kindness, Act Responsibly, Work Hard, Show Respect. Trying to instill a culture of these characteristics on Day 1 thru Day 180 #eduAR
Thanks! If you can believe it, five months down the road and we are still adding to it. Just last week a school in NY sent a gift because they had FUNdraised on our behalf, to help us heal. #eduAR#KindnessMatters

THIS! Kindness is a skill. It’s not just something that comes easy to some and not to others. It is within all of us BUT it takes practice! We need to provide ample opportunities for our students to practice #kindness every. single. day. #eduAR

A3 we need to be *genuinely* kind. It needs to come from a place that is real and generous. We can also make this explicit by calling out other models. #eduAR
A3: We infuse #kindness into all areas & every lesson (I actually have a “kindness connection” area written into my lesson plan template!) By modelling a culture of kindness in our own lives/classrooms, we can share with others and encourage them to do the same. #kindnesscapes
A4 Being proactive. Just as we should have a strengths based approach in academics, we need a strengths based approach in character education. Focus on the positive and promote it. #eduAR
A4: When #empathy goes up, research shows that bullying decreases. So we focus on elevating that glorious virtue and turning it into #kindness. #eduAR#UnSelfie
A4: I think of the movie "Wonder" and the quote, "if you have the choice between choosing right or choosing kind, choose kind". I feel like that movie touched my heart in more ways than one and made me think about the way I act. I try as hard as I can to make a difference. #eduar
A4 There is a parallel with this & "reaction" vs "prevention". Kindness is prevention. When you promote a culture of kindness, you are making sure you prevent things from happening. When we live with respect, we make great things happen. React to negativity with kindness. #eduAR
A4: For one anti-bullying does not work. We need to look at awareness of "bully behaviour" find the root of the issue. Teaching Kindness is easy once you have addressed what is lacking #eduAR
The notes of #empathy, encouragement and love have been UH-mazing! So much love from virtual strangers who tell us to hang in there, that it will get better, that they are praying for us. It's the BEST! #eduAR
A4: That is such a great question! What a complete paradigm shift! Still thinking about the answer but just the question in itself is thought provoking.
#eduar
A4: Love the positive sound of this mindset! I think we just have to make that thought adjustment and move forward with teaching and modeling kindness. Kind people - Don’t bully others! #eduar
A4: When Ss are focused on kindness, they find their voice! They call out the bullies on their own and we can help with conflict resolution. Nobody wants to be “kindness shamed” lol! #eduar
A4: Kindness is prevention. We need to focus on kindness, empathy and compassion BEFORE troubles arise and deal with any “bullying” issues as compassionately as possible. #eduAR

A4: you are not going to convince kids of anything with "teaching"
It's about modelling, and sometimes stopping and explaining your behaviour or how they could have behaved in a situation #eduar
A2: a culture of kindness is a community that is governed by servants, not sycophants who fill ears with flattery, but humble leaders who put others’ interests before their own...again and again #eduAR

So true, Roman! When Kindness prevails, bullying takes a backseat because the negative act has lost its value! Love the insight of prevention vs reaction. So great!! #eduar
A4: Through University I studied Bullying and the impact a lot. A common thread that kept coming up was the idea Anti Bully polices lead to more issues. Kind of like the Death Penalty not stopping murders. Tough analogy but it is true. #eduAR
A4 We need to be intentional about integrating our curriculum with quality literature, stories, and characters that model kindness and foster real discussions of the heart! #EduAR
A2 A culture of kindness exists when we are actively spreading kindness, reaching out to others with purpose. Kindness is understood as the foundation for thoughts and action. Kindness is incorporated into our habits, habitat & relationships. Positivity then radiates. #eduar
Maybe teaching, modeling, promoting, encouraging, living kindness so it’s becomes our culture, then would be no reason for bullying? If everyone was kind, there would be no bullying, now that would be a wonderful world. #eduAR
Some kindness in action right here for us #eduAR
I lost a friend this week to the flu. The flu. We don’t know how many days we get on this Earth. Use the minutes you have to spread love.
A4: Accenuate and model the postiive behaviors you are looking for. Focusing on the negative behavior puts that behavior in the spotlight. The spotlight belongs on the positive...that is the true STAR! #eduar
A4 We must also be intentional about modeling kindness for our children, and teach them to recognize and honor acts of kindness they see in each other. #EduAR
A4: an anti-bullying approach lends itself to being reactive. I see at times a proactive focus on anti-bullying makes some people hypersensitive or overgeneralize. There is a place for anti bullying conversation, but teaching kindness focuses on desired behaviors. #eduAR
A4: Its easy to overlook those slightly harsh words that seem to be meaningless. Must approach and find a different way to confront, with kindness. #EduAR
Last year, our students brainstormed ways to WOW (warm our world) with #kindness and we put them on the rays of sunshine in this visual. Involve your students in creating your school's kindness campaign and it'll be the antidote to bullying you need. #eduAR

A5: Just put similar answer for A4. But we, as adults and kids, will have opinions that oppose others, but we have to be intentional in helping to find kinder ways of responding and not so harsh. #EduAR
A5: By leading by example and sharing the joys in choosing kindness. When we spotlight the kindness of others, we show that kindness can be life-changing! #eduar
A4: @ConsciousD does this through connection practices. Their research shows through teaching such kindness, connection, and communication skills, bullying will be prevented. They don’t have to be separated. #eduAR

A5 The only way is to live and model kind. When others live and experience kindness it makes them feel good and attracts. You don't have to force it, you plant seeds of kindness and watch it grow. Celebrate, uplift, share, care, invest. Live it & watch it grow. #eduAR
A5 We just keep loving them, and through stories, literature and real life, kids come to see that those who are unkind are really hurting on the inside. #EduAR
A5: Currently conducting a book talk with a small group of 4th and 5th graders who struggle to be kind. They have really been convicted (including some tears) as they relate to actions and characters in the book. It has been powerful. #eduAR
A5 Often, what students need is an understanding of how they impact others. I work with prek so it can be hard.but we read lots of stories and talk about the way the different characters treat each other and how they feel in different situations. It absolutely helps! #eduAR

A5: Model & practice!! I find that once my Ss go through the process of completing a kindness task, they like the feeling they get by helping others and want to do more!! #eduAR
A5: share/story telling. Communicate real experiences of the positive. Share the good and warm the heart. We all like a good heartwarming story. Sure that positive can be me. #EduAR
A5: Knowing each other’s stories becomes an incredibly powerful “intervention”. Through morning meetings, “3 happy things” checks and #selfreg zone checks, we get to hear our stories. It’s incredible to see the kids help each other when they REALLY know what’s going on. #eduAR
A5: Ask them to be kindness ambassadors and help you with the school's kindness campaign. Last year, I had some of my toughest kiddos brainstorm kind acts for this wall calendar. They usually just need more connection in order to be kinder. #eduAR

We are not born unkind, so we need to get to the foundation of why some struggle to be kind. Work through these underlying issues. Quite often they may not have experienced it themselves. They need our kindness the most #eduAR
