In CT I worked at school who had a Feb break. The difference, without it students minds seemed fatigued by end of month early March. Spring break helps revive them #bfc530
I’ve started to cut back. Grad school has helped by taking some time away from my evenings. I’m also trying to read and write more. As always I’m a work in progress. #bfc530

I love teaching because of the connections I make with the students. Had the opp to take a tech integrator position (thought it would be amazing!!). Didn't take it because I realized I would miss being around the students all day! #bfc530
With teaching, every day is a different day, and every day you start with a clean slate. Kids do not hold onto grudges the way that adults do. You decide 100% everyday what your itinerary will look like. #bfc530

I #loveteaching because of the relationships I have built with the families I serve. I am now teaching children of some of my students. I am also seeing babies I have talked to since before they were born grow into great little humans. Beyond cool! #bfc530
As I look beyond the classroom for employment opportunities the one thing that keeps me in the classroom are the kids ... making a difference in their lives may not pay well, but it is a cool fringe benefit. #bfc530
I try to encourage others to teach by
- telling my own Ss when I recognize important teacher qualities in them & I say have you considered being a teacher?
- taking on student teachers to mentor each year

I love that this work has deep meaning and is inherently hopeful about the future. It’s hard to feel these things “cleanly” these days however. Therefore I won’t encourage just anyone to go into teaching. #bfc530

I just turned off all notifications and it has been wonderful. I also turned off work email notifications (after 3.5 years). Both with the intention of being intentional in my use and with my time. Getting better...or trying at least. #bfc530
I love that our profession has a different BOTTOM LINE. Our success or profit is not financial currency. We deal in human currency. Our bottom line is kids. Makes our purpose pretty easy. Grow our kids. Grow our currency. Change the world. #bfc530

It was what I struggled with at first. Overall, I have been able to continue to work with students directly and more of them. But do miss building the deeper, powerful relationships. #bfc530
I’m forever learning from Ss, peers, and others. HS is a very emotional time and I love trying to make their day enjoyable. I am lucky for the opportunity to see student teachers and observers. I ask lots of q’s before encouraging. -IL teacher here #bfc530
So true Rich! Unfortunately, parents and society train us to value the reality of #winning and #losing at such a young age. Think about it a Spelling Bee or Math Bowl for K Ss. It is very difficult to reverse b/c every form of competition reinforces that behavior. #40CF#bfc530
