Any time I can get Ts/Ss to immediately dig in and go hands on... I’m all about #PlayPD and experiences. Allows Ts to develop empathy for Ss as they experience it from a different perspective. #cuechat

Q4: How can we view this notion as an opportunity rather than something to fear? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
A3) #CUEchat#WeAreCUE I think giving choice is a great way to make learning fun... always present learning as some type of job or career choice... and most of all allow them to come up with their own product because they have great ideas!!!
A3: Ts are my students...so in my PD offerings, I try to make sure we apply the skill to something fun, have good music, excellent sticker swag and #bitmojis of course@ #CUEChat

Q3: What do you do in your classroom/school to make learning fun for students? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
Lots of laughing! Full on flexible seating this year - makes for a fun and comfy atmosphere. Lots of choice built in to the day. Learning through games - pemdice make building equations super fun! #cuechat
A4: Ts seem to fear tech not working for them in front of students. I really try to make sure they have a plan B and to #clickallthebuttons Take a deep breath and model perseverance. It's ok for things to not go perfectly. #FirstAttemptInLearning#CUEchat
A3) Music! Everything is better with a background track. I used it in my classroom to automate transition times, to build community, and as a means of expression or choice for assignments. And it was fun. I’d blast it and have a dance of in the few minutes before testing #cuechat
A3: Looking forward to the end of this week - it's let's play the games we made for 1st, 6th, 7th, & 8th grades. Can't get much more fun than that! :) #cuechat

Everyone needs encouragement. Words or notes of appreciation can make someone’s day, week, or even month.
Q2: Who makes you a better educator? Give him/her a shout out right now, including why you appreciate him/her. #CUEchat#WeAreCUE#EduInfluence
A3: I teach STEM so anything that is hands on, gets students building and using their creativity. Putting limited constraints on projects to allow their projects to be demonstrated in any way that works for them! #cuechat
A3: I try and incorporate their interests as much as I can. I also try and have them teach me about the stuff they love. I've learned a lot of things from students over the years. That way they can see we are all still learners no matter our roles. #cuechat#EduInfluence
A4 model life-long learning, celebrate risk taking, create a culture where it is safe to try new things & not always know the answer... be a lead learner to build others up and offer supports as needed. Celebrate small victories along the way & big ones when appropriate #cuechat

Q3: What do you do in your classroom/school to make learning fun for students? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
Q4) In my classroom, I modeled graceful failure on a daily basis. When you know students watch everything you do, it gives you the power to model resilience, positive mindsets, and kindness. These are qualities that can be learned and passed on to others with intent. #cuechat

Q4: How can we view this notion as an opportunity rather than something to fear? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
A4: Reminds me of something my 7th & 8th graders did this year where they were the example. Our Lab Rules https://t.co/2p0f2CLnLn were the basis along with the fact that our elementary students look up to the MS students. Student example https://t.co/NNFSNY2sqJ#cuechat
The Power of the Little Things:
The things students (and colleagues) remember about us will often be non-academic.
Q5: When you think of your favorite teacher in school growing up, what do you
remember most? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
A4: One day I accidentaly had my calendar open on the class projector. One student asked what all of the color coded boxes were all over it, so I explained how I set up my system of events and reminders. A few students said, "I should do something like that!" #cuechat
The Power of Example: Students watch everything we do. We set an example, even when we don’t realize it.
Q4: How can we view this notion as an opportunity rather than something to fear? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
I felt that as Bob Ross said, it was a happy accident that made an impact on some students to become better organized. Way more effective than a stern lecture or a mandate! #cuechat
A4) #CUEchat#WeAreCUE I cherish that I get to help guide my students through the joys of their learning, to allow them to understand my past challenges and mistakes through storytelling, to ultimately show them how special they are & the potential they possess!!!
#cuechat I agree! Shake it up! Give learners choices and keep how they present information somewhat predictable but through a variety of means. It’s like food, you’d get sick of pizza if you ate it everyday.

Q3: What do you do in your classroom/school to make learning fun for students? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
A5: My 10th grade bio teacher was really quirky. When he wrote on the board, he used a yardstick to draw a line first, then would write, he had this "odd" mannerisms that were hilarious, and while he was really tough, he knew his stuff and truly cared about our success! #cuechat

A5: Mrs. Obremski cared deeply and had fun, creative activities. Mrs. Nutt built my confidence up. Mrs. Hartley provided "assertiveness training" (I think it worked), oh and Sr. Sarah believed in me. Wouldn't be the person I am without them. #cuechat
A5: Ms. McComas 4th grade her amazing ability to make us all feel loved and special. She was hard on us when we needed it but always allowed to create and explore. #cuechat#EduInfluence

A5 - 2nd grade MRS PREJEAN - she taught me classroom management skills I still use today & College DR GARY TIFFIN - he taught me to not test kids all the same - (I, myself, didn’t test well, so we just had chats on info taught) #CUEChat
#cuechat I agree! With all the people who I have heard say “Technology doesn’t like me.” We can share the tips and tricks we know with learners to help them grow too be people that like technology —the secret is out!
A5) #CUEchat#EDUinfluence#WeAreCUE Mrs. Morrow 4th Grade & Mr. Brown Junior year - They were creative, unique, and eclectic - plus they shared stories, they guided with positive affirmations - they believed in me!
A5: The Power of the Little Things -- I love how all the things folks are remembering aren't academically related. Academics are important, but the little things (kindness, affirmation, smiles) matter...A LOT! :) #CUEchat#EduInfluence
A5: I honestly don’t remember much of school. Only teacher I actually remember was my Algebra teacher who took me under his wing after I failed. He turned me into a tutor. #cuechat#WeAreCUE#eduinfluence

Belief can propel us to accomplish amazing things, but a lack of belief can lead to paralyzing doubt. What specific actions do you take to express belief in your students or staff?
How could you be more deliberate
in expressing this belief? #CUEchat#EduInfluence
A6: It's about letting students express their thoughts, their goals, etc., giving them positive feedback on their thoughts, and assuring them that you are there to help them reach their goals, especially when it comes time for me to write their IEPs #cuechat

A6: Trying to respond with a growth mindset. Illuminating the positive and what was working and telling them to keep problem solving because they didn’t get it YET! Belief that everyone takes different amounts of time and giving them time. #cuechat
A6 - I often tell my kiddos how proud I am of their efforts, I boast of them to their teachers - for teachers, I listen to them & support & encourage as much as I can & boast of them as well #CUEChat

A6: I am over the moon when teachers experience success with tech integration. When I know about it, I try to send a note and some STICKERS! Trying to encourage more sharing via #Flipgrid as well. ...then I can respond back! #CUEchat
A6: I listen and encourage as much as I can. Tell me your idea and I will find a million reasons why you should go for it. Next time I see you I will ask how it's coming along. We all need that supporter so I try and support my students and colleagues as much as I can. #cuechat
I have been working with students that are not mine, the last few months. You should’ve seen their faces when I told them that quiet classrooms scare me. They didn’t believe me when I told them to talk to each other. 😳 #cuechat#WeAreCUE#eduinfluence
It is also important to show people thankfulness, for what they do, who they are, and how they add. Have gratitude for what they do and noticing is very important. #cuechat
A5) Not sure it’s a little thing, but Mr. Bass my 8th Grade ASB Advisor was passionate about community & responsibility. I’ve always remembered that. He and his wife were just awarded 2019 Unsung Heroes award for their work as lifetime educators and student advocates #cuechat
A6) #CUEChat Setting aside time to have a quick conversation... check in, remind them of their greatness, thank them for their efforts... Sometimes when I have a sub I'll even leave little notes too!
The Power of a Name: Names hold immense value.
For some, it’s all they have.
Q7: Can you recall an instance when someone made you feel special by simply calling you by name? #CUEchat#EduInfluence#WeAreCUE#CUEauthors
A5: During SSR he asked if I thought Ss would go on an evening field trip to see Les Miz. He was reading Victor Hugo. YES! It was wonderful. My memories are experience driven. Catalina science camp, handbell choir at Knotts, singing at ceremonies, running/soccer... #CUEchat

Q5: When you think of your favorite teacher in school growing up, what do you

A5: Without a doubt Mr. Niz (always made learning enjoyable in scienc). When someone sneezed, he did the sign of the cross and said bless you. I found myself doing that #CUEchat#EduInfluence
A7: each year students had a specific name. One year students called me Mama Koppers. Just a year ago I ran into an old student who said, hi Mama Koppers. Brought me back. It was at least 8 years since she graduated #CUEChat#eduinfluence
A7: In the Starbucks drive-thru yesterday. As the barista handed me my drink, she said, "Have a great day, Brent." Hearing our name makes us feel special. It did for me. At Starbucks. Let's replicate that in our schools. #CUEchat#EduInfluence

A7: I did not move up in the last name world when I got married. Shoffit (shaw-fit) and Voge (Vo-gey) - gey rhymes with key. It is rarely pronounced correctly. I am always happy when people try. Kim is easy to pronounce, thankfully! #cuechat
Yes - agree - I had not been to Starbucks in over a month - but went Sat & my server said “hi Jen, we’ve missed you” — was surprised but also blessed #CUEchat
Must have been a Monday at Starbucks thing because when I got my stuff at the mobile pick up stand in the store, the girl looked up from making a latte to thank me and "have a nice day, Kyle", and you're right, made me feel good! #cuechat
A7: Hearing, “Excuse me is your last name Roth?” randomly in line at Dollar Tree this Sept by a student I had 11 years ago! We got to catch up for an hour! #CUEChat
A7) #CUEchat In the classroom, you hear your name a lot...but it's such a great feeling when you can help support that child in guiding their ideas or just being able to confirm to them that their idea is great! It's sooo special!
